The monks stops, and looks up surprised. He hands the book over, and goes back to chanting. He is apparently trying very hard not to look upon the body, still clothed in the armor of a samurai.
The notebook is actually a journal. The journal of Eojin Husuto, by it's own inscription. Reading the journal reveals that Eojin was actually a Maho-Tsukai, a practitioner of blood sacrifices and black magic. It also describes how he murdered his own father, the previous magistrate, to gain control of his position, and then administered excessive taxation so he could hire militia and purchase the items he needed for his rituals. In it he writes about how he discovered the name of a powerful demon that would bargain for the souls of children. Expecting to gain great power, Eojin took all nineteen of the village's children to the local monastery and kept them there - supposedly to force the villagers to pay taxes. In actuality, he intended to have a great ritual, sacrificing the children to gain phenomenal power.
The last entry mentions that tonight (the date is two days ago) at sunset, he will send all the monks away from the monastery, and use the ritual chamber in order to summon the demon. The journal describes that the demon has the power to possess and animate bodies, as well as its own powerful magic. Once all of the children have been sacrificed, it says, the demon will have a physical form, and be freed to wreak havoc on the Kikumura Province. No other description of the demon is given.

Hantei retained his composure, waiting to ask questions after the Spiritfolk examined it. If he'd missed anything, they might be missing a vital advantage against the creature. Hopefully, too, it would not be as poorly written as that one scroll was. This situation was probably where he had the most problems, ever. Rogue peasants, trying to start an uprising? He'd seen that. Thieves? He had seen that, as well. However, he had never seen a demon in its actuality, and was a little anxious...

This journal is actually written with impeccible form. This Eojin has obviously studied the Emperor's form of calligraphy quite dilligently. The earlier note had been written by a less educated hand, probably an old and feeble one by the jaunt of the text.

He flipped though the pages once, and once more. Was this just...really this was unbelivible...at least until he'd witnessed the actions of the posessed pesaant before. He paid special attention to mentons of the sacrifice.
He stands and he holds out the book, offering it to the nearest of his companions.
"Apparently Eojin was a blood sorceror, this should explain what happened to the village's children, they should be at the monstary, all alive for now..." he adds quietly. "...at least I hope they are..."
He tried to think, if it was theoreticly possible for someone else to finish Eojin's ritual, perhaps even the demon itself?
He turned back to the hanging corpse. "If I'm not too presomtoous, I think we should burn the body." It was a dangerous thing, to ask that a samurai's body be treated in such a way, and he knew that, but maybe it would spare them all problems later.

As the others pass by the body, Saliv lingers. His eyes narrow, his grandfather told him of beast from the shadow lands. And of the war.....blood reddend the rivers. He hissess under his breath. Calling through his pyhic conection with his people for strenght. He looks at the others.
" Shadowkind are fiends from the other place, stealers of souls and happyness, I have only seen one, a hulking beast with a white mane, it destroyed my village. I do not like this, i hesitate to help you. I will but only if you Samuri gives me one good reason to"
Looks straght at him. His tounge fliks out twice tasting the air.

Mostlyfiller Spot Check: 13+ 2= 15 total You notice that Eojin's fingers are stained black for some reason. Also, there appears to be a lock of hair hanging from the dead man's belt, it has been sawed crudely from it's owner's scalp, and appears to be the hair of a child.

Looks down at the Nezumi. His eyes soften.
"You are right."
Sighs loudly in defeat.
" Fine lets us retrive the children from the beast and let us do it as quickly as possible"

"There is no map leading us to that monastery. Does anyone know where this man's place is?" Hantei questioned, though really wondered whether or not they should eliminate the immediate threat - the demon itself. "... First, however, I think we should do something about the Goiketsu demon. If it remains alive, those children's lives are still in danger, whether we have them or not. As for the people of the village.." He spoke, knowing that they might expect what he was saying, "They must be freed of all penalties. I believe it is a valid reason for them to kill a samurai - he has violated many of the principles of Bushido."

"Come here, pelase..." Without looking, he points to the woman who decided to acomany them. His eyes remained transfixed on the sight of the hanging body, focusing on th the dark-stained fingers and the cut locks of hair.
His voice was utterly deadpan, and it though he wanted to look away, he wanted nothing more than that, Aodakemaru remained morbidly transfixedo n the sight.
"Please, tell me what this looks like to you?" He points to the corpse's fingers and the lock of hair at his belt. He had his fears about what it meant, but he wanted nothing more than for someone to tell him he's wrong.

Sakary Skywind "There is no map leading us to that monastery. Does anyone know where this man's place is?" Hantei questioned. In response the young ashigaru tells you that the monestary is just outside of town down the road through the eastern gate, he will lead you as far as the gate, but is far too afraid to go any further.

Hiei_no_miko Miharu slowly leaned over the corpse and looked at the hand he was pointing at. Spot Check: 19 + 3mod= 22 The lock of hair on Eojin's belt has a small section of the poor victim's scalp still attached to the roots. The blood has dried. The black material on Eojin's fingers appears to be some kind of soot.
