Bayleigh of the Dark Moon
Well I don't belive in the devil. And the Christian Hell got it's name from Loki"s Daughter Hell (Norse Mythology) she is like the goddess of dead souls. She runs an inn where the souls go when they die.they check in but don't check out. she is said to have a three headed dog ( yes like Hades ) and one half of her body is rotting and yucky and the other half is a very beautiful girl. I guess christins wanted to scare their belivers into following god's way so instead of an inn they made Hell all fire and brimstone.

Sorry to be a pain in the a** again, but I must. It will not let me sleep if I don't.

The Christian hell... Christians have NOTHING to do with it. English does. What you meant to say, I believe, or should have meant to say was: The English word "hell" comes from Hel (or Hela). She's not the goddess of all dead souls, since those who courageously die in battle are picked up by the Valkyres and taken to Valhalla. She's merely the goddess of the underworld for those who die in other ways.

I don't remember a three headed dog that she would have ownership over, but if you tell me his name I'll be happy do to a bit of research. However, the only dog I remember is a giant wolf named Fenrir. Hel's brother.

As for why the christians came up with hell... they didn't. I believe the idea is judaic and therefore much older than christianity... (If you prove me wrong, I'd be happy to listen...)

one day when i was young i found my self in a national park, me and my younger brother. i decided to climb a tree to get a better veiw of our surroundings but when i got to about twenty feet up the branch under me snapped! lukily i grabbed another one that held. I looked down and saw many pointed branches that would have killed me iff i just fell and the branch i was holding started to crack. i made my mind up to push off so at least i wouldnt get skewered but as i did i just kinda floated down and landed with a soft flump. i landed some ten feet from the tree and i knew i was being protected by something. so i searched and found that i could now do small things like calling wind and such so i joined up in wicca.

The Spam Fairy
the think i dont get about Christians is...
If god is so perfect, divine and holy, then how come if you dont do what he says you go to a place called hell where you burn to death and other horrible stuff for the rest of your afterlife?
Isn't he supposed to be the good guy?
i would just like to point out that hell us a place with out god.

Anywho, I'm one of those sorta but not really family people. My mum has always been a sorta hippie person, more before than now. I sorta followed in her foot steos but whent further than her. I would like to thank my good matey potaties from H.H fir really introducting me to wiccian. I would really like to thank Jenny fir getting me back into it too.

THANK YOU JENNY!!! (--aurellion--)

My friend introduced me to it, as well as Witchcraft. I'm not Wiccan myself though, I just study it.

Just have to comment, sorry xd

Actually, in Christianity, Hell isn't a place you go if you don't do what God says or anything. It's a place you're sent if you purposefully do the wrong thing your entire life (being evil, in other words), and do not repent or have any sense of guilt. We all make mistakes; in Christianity, you don't go to Hell for being human. Just because you're not Christian or follow God or anything doesn't mean you go to Hell--as long as you're a good person (as most of us are), you're fine.

Anyways, back on topic (sorry sweatdrop ), I'm not sure what got me into Wicca. It might've been some of my friends who are, just hearing about it, or because I want to try new things. Lately, I'm really not sure what I believe, so I guess I've been jumping around and trying things... But so far, I'm really enjoying myself in learning it smile The faith makes a lot of sense to me. razz

I was brought up as a Christian, taken to church etc. As a child I used to go into trance states easily, my family called it day dreaming, though I now know it was meditation. I also used to see and contact faeries, though I never told anyone. It was as a teenager that I started to question what I had always been taught and realised that I did not believe in it. I thought long and hard about what I believed and looked for something that encompassed this. That's when I found wicca. I started practicing only for a male friend of mine to come up to me one day and say that he knew I had found the wiccan path and that his guide had told him to welcome me and encourage my empathic abilities. He was wiccan too and I haven't looked back since. 3nodding

I first heard about Wicca from my sister when I was in ...oh... i think it was fifth grade. I had researched it a bit, but couldn't do very much due to my parents ( my mum really. She avidly believes that I should be a good girl and be a catholic like my dad. She thinks Witchcraft and Wicca is bad and everyone who's wiccan worships the devil and blah blah blah...) I kinda lost track of it for a while, but it was still always on my mind. You see, I'm not really, I dunno...comfortable with the way life is. I tend to think about things too much ( for instance, how is it that we can move and see through lumps of matter. In all logic, it shouldn't be possible...lol) Wicca seemed to have the same ideas i did, so I started to respect it alot. In ninth grade, I got a hold of it again and here I am.lol 3nodding My friend is a Wiccan as well ( i found that out last year...) so it helps to know I don't have the only crazed ideas...

oops......I think I put some life issues in there.....sorry guys................

I, too also got into Wicca through Cate Tiernan's books. Cal Blaire (Woodbane) is evil. in short: Morgan trusted him, he said that they were Murmin betha dans (Soul mates) but actually Cal betrayed morgan and he and his mother Selene Belltower try to take Morgan's powers and Selene died trying to take them and Cal died because he was trying to protect Morgan.

Reading books... well the Circle of Three by Isabel Bird(which is a chick book and starts off kind of like the Craft the movie but better cause the author is Wiccan!) is what got me going... reading each book every month caused me to start to study it more. (Though I have a bad habit in Wicca books of jumping around from book to book and chapter to chapter) i found in my studies that all my rocks i collected over the years had meanings. and my dah-jah-voe was not just a dream but premonitions! Along with my strong connection to some people (like my mom, and animals), I found there is a answer to why I’m always thinking differently. that explains why I never believe in anything else. That is why I always questioned church (long story on that...) to sum it up that’s why I’m Wiccan.
