Lind's ears pricked up at that. "Crayoonnnnsss...?" he asked, a hint of sneaky mischeviosity edging into his voice.
Subo sighed. "Mark on anything you aren't supposed to and you have to clean it up." she said, poking him lightly on the forhead.

"Uh-huh," Rand said, nodding. "Taka gave me lots and lots of crayons...come on!"
It was quite possible that Sari, and not Taka, had given Rand the crayons. He tended to mix the two of them up in his head sometimes, especially when he wasn't looking too closely at them.
He remembered Angel cause Angel was male, and very distinctly not Taka or Sarielle.

Lind's face broke into a wide grin as he shot to his feet and scrambled to the house.
Subo grimaced sligtly as she imagined the chaos possible from something as harmless as a crayon. "Ah, don't worry, I'll make sure they don't make a mess." she said to Taka as she stood up, dusted herself off, and headed after Lind and Rand.

Taka, relieved that Rand's nose was apparently not broken, watched the two young Heralds skitter off with misgivings. "Well, just a heads up then, but Rand had tried to colour himself last time," Taka warned.
She had indeed been the one who had given the crayons to Rand. And while, in one sense, she understood when he sometimes confused her and Sarielle -- hair and eyes were quite similar, after all, and he was still quite small -- it didn't stop her from missing her guardian when Rand mentioned her name.
Sarielle had been gone for several weeks now, hadn't she? It felt like it, at least.
Gulping, Taka realized if Subo went into the kitchen she was likely to wonder. It did look like a 10-pound bag of flour had exploded with a vengeance. "And, uh, I've got some chores to do in the kitchen while you keep those two busy." Maybe she could clean it up before anybody noticed...Lind knew, of course, but he was a kid, and somehow that didn't matter as much.

"All the paper was dirty already!" Rand shouted in his defense. He had already kicked off his shoes, leaving them messily sprawled in the entrance, and was halfway to where the crayons and blank paper was stored. He pulled the whole thing out, not caring how much of a mess he made...Taka'd make him pick it all up afterward, but it was fun seeing it all scatter around.

"You could have asked for more paper!" Taka's voice registered clear exasperation as she slipped into the kitchen and tried to gather the broken crockery as quietly as she could. Ugh. This would take some explaining when Angel got home.
He was always so soft-spoken and goodnatured on the surface, but in a different way than Sarielle had been. Had been? You think about her like she's not coming back, the Herald chided herself.
Angel also had a subtle air of command that Taka's guardian had always lacked.

Subo chuckled lightly at the exchange before grabbing a few pieces of paper and a handful of crayons, and retreating to sit againts the wall.
At the sight of the mass of crayons and paper, Lind squealed happily, plopping down next to the crayon spill and got to doodling.

"Um-!" Rand clearly wanted to retort, but seemed to have trouble finding the words for it. Instead he sat down with a plop and started doodling as well.
After a few minutes, he got bored with his own work and went to peer over at Lind's. "Hey, Lind, whatcha drawing?"

"Uhm..uhm..." Lind stared at the paper with it's seemingly random lines and splotches of color. "...I'unno..."

Rand scootched over to the other side of the paper, looking at it from different angle, trying to figure out what it was. "It looks kinda like...um, no it doesn't, forget I said that..."
He scratched his head, mussing the already messy white tufts of hair. "Maybe it's a...no, it doesn't look like that either..."
He scooted around it a couple of times, then plopped down again, defeated. "I give up."

Lind joined in with the scrutinizing of the doodle before giving up as well. "Mmmmblah." he said, emphatically dotting the paper with a crayon.

The distinctive rattle and clink of broken glass drifted from the kitchen. Taka winced. Pleeeeease don't let anyone come to investigate. She wouldn't have minded telling Sarielle so much...but Angel? It was none of his business. Her one hope was that he'd not been living there long enough to notice if things in the kitchen had somehow migrated -- in pieces -- to the trash.

Rand's ears perked up at the noises from the kitchen. He wasn't sure what they were, but it reminded him that Taka was in there, and not out here. He wanted to show off his drawing! Lind's mommy seemed asleep, and Lind wasn't being interesting, and he'd been sitting still too long.
"Taka, Taka!" Calling her name, he scooped up the paper he'd been working on and zoomed off to the kitchen.

Lind huffed and put down his crayon, glaring at the paper. It turned out that, no, that many colors on one piece of paper didn't look pretty, it looked like a crayon-war had broken out on the page. With a meaningless gurgle, he flopped on the floor facefisrt, and then began worming his way after Rand. It sounded interesting over there.
Subo sighed and shifed slightly, peering around the corner to watch the boys. Can't sit still, huh?
