Fute couldn't believe his ears as the male went on and on with his tale of the past, and how things had been; what had happened... It was so sad. So heart-wrenchingly sad. He wanted to smother Rochir with reassuring words and affection, but now seemed the time for neither of those things, and so he refrained. He watched as the maned one's eyes became glazed and his facial expression full of sadness. It was nearly more than the poor spotted one could stand. "I....I'm so sorry Rochir... I-I never knew..." He'd done nothing wrong in asking, he hoped, and nothing wrong entirely.
For a moment a brief sigh fell upon him as well. He didn't really know much of his own past. Somehow it'd been erased from his memory. The only moments he remembered, were well, that of meeting Whisper. Sure, the thought of his own parents had come into play a few times, but the thoughts were but for a second lived, as no recollection of anything about his ancestry came to mind. It was almost enough to send him into depression, but of course Fute wasn't that type of wolf. He didn't let things bother him for oh too long. "I'm sure you'll find him someday.... Never lose hope, my love..-" He hadn't realized what he'd said until it had escaped his maw, but at the very minimal point of fact it'd hopefully cheer him up.

He rolled himself to lay again on his left side, taking care to keep off the wound on his right. He moved his head back, tapping his nose to Fute's chin. "Och, t's ok. Donnae ye feel sorry. Nothin' fir ye t' feel sorry for." he smiled softly. It was true, there was nothing to feel sorry for. His grandparents were fools, they wanted to control their daughter's life. He didn't blame his mother for it, but he'd never see her again he knew. His father was out here somewhere, however...
"Ah willnae lose 'ope. Never, will I lose 'ope." he spoke in hushed tones. The fact that his father was roaming out there alone drove him crazy. He wanted to be near him again, wanted to know what he was up to. Sons needed their fathers.. this one sure did.
And then there was Mingan. "Ah wish 'e'd wake." he spoke, worry on his face again. "Ye wern't even out this long..."

But Fute did feel the need to worry. For one of the only times in his life, as a matter of fact. Which came as a strange surprise to the gamma, seeing as that wasn't his nature by any means. But here he was, every fiber of his being urging him to be concerned for Rochir. How could he be so sweet and caring with such a horrible past? Fute only wished there was something, anything he could do to make things better...or at the very minimal of levels, reunite the red male with his father. It would be a great gift; the greatest gift of all time. Perhaps he could sneak off one day and find him for him. Or they could search together. Either way, he could tell that deep down, it was something that bugged Rochir. And that made him terribly upset, though he tried not to show it.
"I wish he would too. He really didn't deserve that. What happened after I was knocked out?" His question was rather concerned in tone and filled with mixed signals of all kinds. Emotional standings weren't something he liked. Not at all. This needed to end, and soon.

"Ah 'ardly remember. T' bawbrain tried t' carry ye away, when ah followed, 'e took off runnin." he retold the story as best he could. "Ah told 'im 'e'd no get t' far without ye droppin and gettin' 'urt again. Seemed t' slow 'im.. ah'd not know meself, ah stopped to keep watch o'er t' auld wolf 'ere." Finally finished, he lifted himself, shaking to rid the dirt from his left side. He scooted over to the grey wolf, giving him another look-over. He still looked bad, but not as bad as before. Maybe he would wake soon.
Mingan seemed to get himself in trouble wherever he went. Any rememberances of the happy beginning of this dream were gone now, all he could see was his current predicament, and it was even more scary than the angry elk. The more he thrashed, the more he hurt. He could not scream, he could not breathe. His eyes, nose, lungs and body stung, ravaged by the icy water around him. He felt as though he had been under the water for a life time, but when the water started to fall away, it seemed like only a few seconds had passed. Quickly he warmed up and was able to move again. As he regained control of himself it almost seemed as though he were flying up, back the way he had fallen from the cliff. NO! Not the spirits again. He cried out, hoping it would help. "NO! NO!! NOT AGAIN!"
Rochir started, almost falling back. He had leaned down to check the old wolf's breathing again when Mingan screamed in his face. Visibly shaken yet again, he stared at the grey wolf, maw hung ajar. "Fute...?" he questioned, looking to the spotted male, fear sending an icy chill down his spine.

Fute nodded and listened carefully as Rochir told him what happened. It was really sad news, and not exactly the answer he was hoping for. So he'd been in grave danger and not even known it? Wow. Best he was asleep at the time then. However, the spotted male couldn't help but feel Rochir did the right thing, helping the older male above him. He'd have wanted nothing more, should he have been given a death wish then died. He clinched his eyes at the thought, but reopened them when Rochir got up and scooted towards Mingan. The gray-pelt was still fumbling in his sleep, and by the time he yelled at in Rochir's face, the gamma nearly wanted to jump back in his fur. Yet he didn't, but could clear see his companion had done just that. "Woah..." He couldn't manage a reply anything more than those few words, but at last he did reply at all, at least.
A moment later he picked himself up as well, trotting over and nudging the gray elder gently with his muzzle. "Mingan... are you okay? Wake up Mingan..." His voice was calming and hopefully mellow enough to awaken the other from his slumber. He placed a paw on his chest in a caring manner, shifting it slowly in attempt to shake the obviously dreaming one from whatever it was disturbing him.

Collecting himself and his nerves, he scooted back, allowing the old wolf some room. Again, he figured he might only scare him; Fute would do a better job at keeping him calm. "What d' ye think?" he asked Fute, still a bit shaken from being surprised by what any other wolf would think was a dead carcass.
Dark. Black? What?! ... Oh. Mingan opened his eyes.
He started at the two wolves over him, pain, REAL pain coming back to him. His side and hip.. oh. He remembered now. ".. Yes, yes Minan is ok." he cocked his head, focusing on the big spotted male. Suddenly his eyes widened in fear. "Please! PLEASE tell me the yellow wolf... " searching.. "Helaku! Tell me he's gone..." he whimpered desperately, very near to panic. The paw on his chest helped to calm him, a little at least.

As soon as Mingan opened his eyes, Fute stood back a bit himself. It seemed the older one was in a great deal of pain, not to mention traumatized by what happened with Helaku earlier. Oh...he'd get Helaku for this someday! He didn't realize it, but through his thought processes he was snarling his teeth, baring and growling beneath his breath. Blegh. Helaku was NOT going to hurt everyone and get away with it. Rage. A feeling that had never stricken him before, was now overcoming him. It was uncanny, and needless to say unpleasant. Finally he snapped back into reality, though anybody with two eyes would've noticed his mishap by now. "I'm glad you're okay. You were out for a long time, fella." He smiled down to him. "Yeah, Helaku's gone. He'll pay for what he's done, I promise you." Again, on his last words, his face turned cold with serious view. He hadn't even taken note that he'd missed Rochir's words...

"Fute?" he tried again. "What d'ye think?" He hadn't noticed the shift in Fute's emotions or appearance, he had been busy looking over Mingan from afar. He hoped the old wolf was ok, though it seemed he would be now that he was alright.
Mingan nodded slowely and attempted to get to his feet. He had been in one place for tooo long, and it was getting uncomfortable for his old bones. "Why.." he whined. Helaku had saved his hide from the elk.. only to turn and wound him badly. It was true the old wolf was injured frequently, but two serious wounds in one day was an all-time high for him. Quickly realizing the others couldn't read his mind, he explained his question. "I mean... what I meant to say.." he stretched gingerly. "He saved me from a very angry elk." he indicated the wound on his hip. "And brought me here.. and then he hurt me!" his voice came in the form of a sad squeek.
After some thought he spoke again. "Thank you both.. for saving me."

"I think he's going to be fine." The gamma's attention was clearly all over the place, making for an unusually distracted answer to his otherwise nothing but care-receiving other half. There was no way that this was going to go down too well, Helaku's new personality. And now he was on the loose. The spotted male shivered at the very thought, but managed to remain alert all the same, soon calming back down somewhat as the gray-pelt explained what had happened on his own. "What....he...he saved you? And then he....hurt you like this? What the HELL was that all about?" He let himself give way to a heavy sigh. "But you're welcome, in any case..." Offering a nuzzle as a last gesture, he stepped back over alongside Rochir, giving him the same nuzzle in exchange. The red one didn't seem too happy at the moment. All of this commotion was indeed bearing its weight upon the three of them, and Fute probably most of all. It was all he could do to keep his spirits from fumbling like the rest of it.

"Good."
The red wolf grew angry again, listening to Mingan's story. Who the hell would rescue someone and then use them as an example.. beat on them senselessly? It didn't make sense. Whatever.
"Ye're welcome.. though ah donnae see any reason t' thank us. 'E'd not 'ave attacked ye if we'd not come along." But was that true? Rochir had no idea if the yellow wolf would have ultimately attacked Mingan had they not come along. Mingan could be dead now if they hadn't.
The red male sighed too, and nuzzled Fute in return.
Mingan remained quiet for now, watching the other two interact. "You don't know that" he spoke to Rochir, almost a snap. It was odd for him to react in any bad manner, but a lot had happened to him today. "I thank you again, anyway."
Smiling, he sat himself up, propping himself against a nearby sapling. "Between Helaku.. and the elk." he sigh, doing his best to survey his wounds. A gash in his hip, horrible smaller gashes over his ribs where the yellow would had bit him, various cuts and scrapes from other encounters earlier that morning. "It's a wonder I'm still alive.." he wondered almost to himself with a small sigh.

Fute did his best to keep from running off after Helaku, asking him what the hell was wrong with him. Just exactly what had changed him; and in such short time? It seemed only yesterday that he was the friendly gamma of sorts, and as such made for a great friend for his puppy self. A sigh heaved from his maw as he listened to Mingan nearly snap at Rochir's words. His head lifted back in the direction of the elder one for a moment, then in the direction of Rochir, a yawn escaping him briefly. "You know what I think we could all use right now?" His questioning was sprinkled with a hint of rhetorical meaning, of course. "I think we could all use some rest. Wouldn't you agree?" At this he turned to Rochir solely, a smile creeping through his mind inwardly, but not showing on the outside. Every night he got the chance to lay buried into the fur of the one he loved, was another night he was in ecstacy; a place that had the power unlike no other. Not so much was it a concern that Mingan was there, either. They'd all get peaceful slumber at last, his and Mingan's slumbers both apparently not having been very restful at all, and would wake up to a brighter tomorrow. Hopefully not to run into trouble, again. His thoughts shoved notions of Helaku away in tight lockdown. The last day he'd catch up with the bad Helaku again, well, it'd be just too soon...

Though afraid he would slip back into the realm os screeching souls, Mingan had to agree that rest sounded like the best idea he'd heard all day. And with two wolves sleeping at least near him, he would feel a bit safer. "Should we find somewhere sheltered or.. ?" he asked quietly, nervous enough at assuming that they would let him stay with them to rest.
Rochir nodded, agreeing with Fute. "Good idea.." Today had been a bit more eventful than he cared for, but at least no one had died. Someday he would meet the yellow wolf again, possibly even work things out with him.
He stood, suddenly, making his way into the forest a bit, but not out of eyesight of the others. " 'ere works." he spoke, indicating a sort of ditch in the earth under a tree. He worked for a minute to dig the spot out a bit more before curling up in a small space between the tree and one of its large roots. "Come 'ere" he smiled, beckoning the two wolves over to him. " 't should be safe fir a'while."

Fute was hesitant to respond to Mingan's questioning, but really didn't have the moment's time to before Rochir got up and wandered in some random direction. Had the red male spotted something he hadn't? He smirked whenever Rochir spoke of some location just a few feet away. How could he have missed that! Musta' been due to the fact of his droggy state. Either way, there was seemingly enough room to hold them all. Hesitantly, however, he wondered if the area would be truly safe. Mingan had spoken of an elk. Could there be other creatures of sorts nearby? In any case, his mind could do little to nothing in the worth of thinking, as each time he attempted to contact his logic, a sharp pain would course through his veins. Headaches were nasty, nasty things. Ergh. He nodded to both of them, then nuzzled Mingan a bit forward. "Let's go." He took a step forward, intent on making sure the elder one felt safe. He knew that it was only a few feet, and nothing to worry about, but perhaps the old one didn't. And aside from that, he surely seemed the type to become overly worried; easily. Fute had not the heart to let a second more come along that the male would feel negative energy. In any sort of manner.
As soon as the two of them were at the ditch location, he paused for a second or two, contemplating the idea of heading in first. - His decision was no, and that was final. He turned and nodded towards the gray-pelt to enter first. "You can go on in, next to Rochir. And I will go next to you for the night. Therefore you'll not only be safer, but warmer as well." It was true he really wanted to lay next to Rochir this night, and get his mind away from Helaku with negative thoughts, but really, Mingan had been through enough. It was his turn to feel at peace again. Once the two were inside and things were calmed down, they'd drift into sleep, and Rochir would be next to him in his dreams anyhow. He was sure of it.
