The noise became louder, and grunting could be heard. It seemed the creature was just barely out of sight, probably hiding amongst the grasses before jumping to the attack.
A few minutes tense waiting later though the grass stirred and into the light stepped...a pig.

Dusk nearly burst out laughing at the sight of the pig, his nerves released into the air with a whooping giggle. Tears started to roll down his cheeks as he laughed, and he turned back to Toshi while still deep in laughter.
"Ah...a pig...a pig! It's a pig, oh...haha, just a pig.."
He rubbed his eyes with his hands, still laughing at how scared he might have been before the pig showed up.

Toshi joined her sheepish friend in a bout of surprised laughter. She hadn't been frightened, though perhaps a bit nervous about what might be lurking around after dark.
"Awww, mister piggy you're so cute!" She said, running up to the smallish potbelly pig and patting it's pink head.
The pig grunted happily as it was pet and began sniffing around the two spirits impromptou camp

"He is cute, I'll admit that. And he seems to like us a good bit, so he's okay with me."
Dusk watched the piglet with bemused expression, reaching out to pat it as well. The hair was soft and coarse, and he was made happy by the little piglet's snorts as it sniffed around.
"I didn't think a piglet would be out here..."

"Do you think it's lost?" Toshi asked worriedly with a sad frown on her face. she watched the piglet as it flopped down on the ground next to their lanturns and seemed ready to fall asleep for the night.

"Probably not. Pigs are actually pretty smart, so if it came here to us it must not have come far. They won't leave their homes for long, so it should really be nearby."
Dusk reached over and stroked the silky piglet ear, smiling inwardly with a stone face outward.
"The mother should be close too, perhaps even looking for the baby."

"Hmm, I don't think it's a baby Dusk, i think it's just miniature." Toshi said thoughtfully, looking at the pig closely.
"Maybe it was bored and just went for a walk?" she thought aloud.
((lol, it's just a miniature pot belly Rown biggrin ))

"That could be true too, so then we should not worry in the least. If it went for a walk then it knows what it's doing."
Dusk yawned and stretched his arms upwards, his ears bouncing with the motion.
"Anyway, what should we do?"

"Yeah, we can think about it in the morning." Toshi said, sitting down again on her blanket seat.
"I think mister piggy has the right idea. How about we go to sleep? we can continue on in the morning." Toshi said.

"Sure, that sounds like a good idea. I'll go over there."
Dusk moved away from Toshi and the pig, moving to where his stuff had been set. He pulled his sleeping set out of his bag and spread it on the ground, quickly dropping down onto his and rustling his head several times against it.
"I'll see you in the morning than, if that's okay."
With that, Dusk closed his eyes and drifted into sleep, a sort of uneventful one.

Toshi giggled at her friend and snuggled down into her own blankets at the base of the tree.
"Good night Dusk. I'll see you in the morning." she said with a yawn.
From beside their lanturns the pig grunted as though also saying good night.
"Oh, right, goodnight to you too mister piggy." Toshi said with a small laugh as she drifted off to sleep.

Dusk awoke early, his eyes opening just as the first rays of sunlight began to touch the dark earth around them. The fire had long burned out, leaving faint wisps of smoke in the air to mingle with the smell of cinders and smoked wood.
Stretching his arms, he looked over towards his companion and their new friend, a thin smile in his eyes. His face, of course, stayed as stone, but his ears bounced happily to greet the new day.
"Ton-chan? Are you awake soon, and you too Mr. Pig?"
His words carried on the cold air, and he unrolled the sleeves of his sweater to keep his arms warm. He should probably start the fire up again, but since the pair did not need to eat and would be leaving shortly, he found no real reason. So instead he sat with his knees pressed to his chest, watching the others.

The pair traveled together for several more days, making camp each night with only their lanturns to light the way. The pig continued on with them, obviously having no better place to be for the time being.
Dusk and Toshi eventually reached a small village on the plain and walked into it's center, hoping to find some information about where they should be going. What they found instead though was a group of teens harassing an old man in the middle of the town square.

Dusk turned from Toshi, as they had been speaking, and his ears fell as he saw the old man in front surrounded by the group of teenagers. Their words were harsh to his sensitive ears, and he felt his brow curl with irritation - something a little rare.
"Ton-chan, stay here."
It was wierd, but for a reason beyond himself Dusk soon was crossing the path towards the group, unafraid with his eyes straight ahead. He glanced back at his traveling companions before he reached the group, barely standing tall enough to come to the shoulders of any of the teens.
"What are you doing, yeah? You shouldn't be messing with him, he's your elder. Or did you not learn any better?"
Dusk's ears bent down angrily, and his blue eyes seemed to darken in colour, almost to a shade of black. He stood there are the boys turned in his direction, not moving an inch. All the encounters with Lune had somewhat toughened him against intimidation, to be sure.

Toshi watched as Dusk moved forward to confront the teens bullying the old man.
"Be careful Dusk!" she cried out after him. It wouldn't do for him to get hurt! SHe watched anxiously, wondering how much help she would be if it came down to a fight. She didn't know much about fighting so she decided to keep out of the way.
One of the larger teens, a boy with short blonde hair smirked down at Dusk and said "Oh yeah, and what are you going to do about it, huh punk?"
