Anoki shook his head quickly. He didn't want the grown-up to think he was upset or hurt anything. He managed all by himself without any help! And it mostly stopped hurting anyway. "I'm ok-kay, r-really."
The idea of food cheered him up considerably. There hadn't been much time for breakfast before he was rushed out the door, and it had been a long time since then. Full of meeting new people and art projects and getting bits of fur pulled out. He was beyond ready for a bite to eat.
"Wh-what's f-for snack?" Anoki asked Vivina, cleaning up his own spot. He wasn't sure if he had to or not, but she was, and besides, he was used to doing it at home. If he left messes on the table, Raven got mad. It didn't take too long before he finished, and waited expectantly by his desk.

((Very sorry, guys. x_x;; ))
"Hmmm..." Scheu thought about this for a bit. So it seemed like Nexen's wild streak was getting worse. Ah well. He set her down, but still kept his eye on her, in case she would try anything again. She probably wouldn't, but one never knew with her.
His ears twitched at Dan's question. "Oh, sure...I can watch them..." even though he was doing a horrible job so far. At least half the kids were well behaved. The ones with full-body fur. And his charges were the worst.
Nexen resolved for sticking her toungue out at Anoki before hearing about snacks. Ooooh. She liked snacks. Food was always good. She glanced over at the other kids. They, at least the horned one, were picking up their things. Should she be doing that? Nexen walked over to her corner and picked up the scraps left over from her desert rose. See? She was good...
Laial's own ears perked up slightly at the mention of snacks. He also liked snacks. But was it just a trick to get him out of his corner? Hmm. This would require some thought. It also depended on the snack. He wouldn't stop for something stupid like a health drink or a banana or something. But a cookie...who could resist a cookie?

Dan nodded at Scheu and ran off quickly to get the food. The door bell rang as soon as he got to the door.
Vivina looked back at the others and watched as they too cleaned up, although Laial seemed to be contemplating as to what to do. Shrugging, she set her collage aside and sat in her chair, fidgiting around as if she had an itch. Her stomach was growling and was not in a mood for waiting. She looked down at her stomach and whispered to it and then made sure no one was watching. Talking to your stomach did seem weird.
Daniel came back balancing a tray filled with a variety of foods. Obviously Et didn't know what to get so she must have gotten all sorts, from rice to steak sandwiches to a vegetable and fruit tray. "Uh yeah. Et brought lots of different snacks since she didn't know who'd be here today. Uh...I guess you all can come up here single file and choose what you want. There are plenty of choices so don't worry about not having anything that you like up here." He set the tray down and made sure he didn't spill the drinks either. Most of the containers had water, but there were all sorts of juices and smoothies and shakes also.
Vivina jumped out of her seat as soon as she saw the pile of food. Squeeing, she stood up and ran over immediately, forgetting her manners and following her stomach. Then she realized no one else had moved yet and blushed. She then stood up there and let everyone else choose before her. "Oh...um...everyone else can choose before me. I'm ok with choosing last."
Dan smiled at the sugar glider and how polite she was being. There was something he hasn't seen before, especially when it came to food. Chuckling, he called the rest of the children and Scheu over. "Alright, come on up and no pushing. Scheu, you should eat also. Even I'm feeling hungry now."

Eyes widening at the spread, Anoki couldn't help but step towards the food. He was done cleaning, and a lot of the stuff looked delicious. Besides, Vivina said that they could go first... so with an eagerly muuueted "th-thank you," he went to the head of the line, hands poised above the food.
Some of it was confusing. Anoki had never had rice before, and the smell of the steak sandwiches made him wrinkle his nose. Whatever that stuff was, it didn't seem very appetizing. But there were all sorts of fruits and veggies that were Anoki's favorites. Grinning, he put most of the vegetation on his plate, forgetting that someone else might want some. After all, there was lots of other stuff, right?
He grabbed an apple juice in his free hand and went back to where he'd been working on his picture. Luckily a few of his manners had stuck with him, and he waited for the others before starting on his food, though he did sneak a sip of jouce.

Laial cocked his head at all the different foods out. Was this snacks or an entire meal?! There were no cookies, but there was rice, which he knew and didn't mind, but there was also some strange sandwich that smelled...strange. Like something dead. Longing to poke it, he opted instead to take the safe route and scooped himself a bit of rice.
Nexen, however, was more direct in her curiousity, and crept closer to the steak sandwitch. Inching her face less than an inch away from it, she simply sniffed it, not unlike a dog might.
Laial glared at his younger sister as he grabbed a glass of water. "You have to take that one now," he stated coldly. It was rude to sniff food before you eat it.
Nexen jerked her head up and stuck her toungue out at Laial. She knew it was hers, she was just checking it to make sure it wasn't bad or poisened or something. Who knew with these people? She grabbed it and bit a chunck off of the sandwitch, as if to prove she'd eat it. Laial was just mad at her because he couldn't stomach meat, the wuss.
Scheu gave a light bow and also scooped himself some rice. However, he took a fruit smoothie instead of water as Laial had. Moving away as to not interfier with the flow of traffic, he watched his charges, wishing that they were as behaved as the other children.

Daniel watched the others grab their snack, if what was on the tray was considered snack food. Last he recalled, rice and meat sandwiches were meal food. Et must not have thought this through all the way. He then noticed Vivina staring up at him. Oh, she wanted him to choose something to eat before her. What a kind girl she was. He took what seemed to be Caesar salad (with croutons and dressing!) and a bottle of water. Walking over to a seat, he wondered if he and Vivina were the only vegetarians in the family, if you don't count insects as being meat.
Et and Colin eat both meat and vegetables and fruits. Although he was a scientist and he has never experimented with animals before, he thinks that eating meat would be just as bad as experimenting with innocent and harmless animals. Vivina and the other children at D-Corp were created in test tubes, so that doesn't count as being experimented on. Or does it?
Vivina grinned as it was her turn to choose. There were plenty of food left to choose from. Maybe except the vegetables and fruit. She thought for a moment, scanning the entire tray. Her eyes caught sight of a package that read "Crickets" Grinning, she grabbed that and took the acacia shoot pie, a nectarine, and apple juice. Her mother definitely remembered to put in her favorites. Wondering if anyone else would notice the crickets in the package, she walked back over to her seat and smiled. "Hehehe...yay for food!" And with that, she grabbed a plastic knife and fork and ate a small piece of the pie, smiling and squealing in joy.

Good, the others both had food. And the grown-ups did as well. That left Anoki free to tuck into his spread of fruits and vegetables, which he did with great enthusiasm. They were awfully good, and the more he ate the more he realized just how hungry he'd been.
It only took a few minutes for Anoki to clear most of his plate. Once he did, he took another sip of joice and looked at the others, nose wrinkling a little at the things on their plates. "Wh-what are y-you g-g-guys eating?"

Laial looked up at Anoki, fork still in his mouth. What did he mean, what was he eating? A tentecle removed the utensil so he could reply, "Don't you know what rice is?" Rice was a staple food that Maji had almost every other day sometime or another.
Nexen also looked up, but quickly swallowed down the chunck of meat in her mouth. Feh. If he thought he was getting an answer from her... She tore another piece off the steak again. Stupid Horned thing.

Vivina swallowed a chunk of her pie with difficulty and took a deep breath. "Kah...uh...ahem...Um, I'm eating acacia shoot pie, just the way I like it! Made by my mom. You can't find it in stores though. That's ok since my mom can cooks lots of things, although some don't taste right" sipping her juice, she took another bite of the pie, only smaller. "I also got a fruit because they're healthy. Oh yeah, and I got crickets!" Smiling, she opened the packet and popped a crispy insect into her mouth.
Daniel watched as he ate his salad. The children had started a conversation. Good. Least they're being social and not keeping to themselves. Another important skill for all kids to learn, talking socially. Pondering over the thought, he opened a book and began to read, taking another bite of his food.

Laial's question put a damper on Anoki's cheerful mood. Why did he have to reply like that? All he did was ask a question. He knew lots of things, but there were lots of strange foods and he was just curious. His voice was quiet when he answered. "Uh-uh. M-Mahou never m-made it. I-is i-it g-good?"
Vivina said more, and faster, so Anoki used her bite-and-sip breaks to process the information. She at least answered nicely. "I l-like f-fruit t-t-too," he repied unnecessarily, taking a bite of apple. "W-what's ac-ack-acasy... that p-pie?"
The rice thing looked sort of good. The pie did too, and Anoki secretly wondered if Vivina would let her try some. As for the crickets, he wrinkled his nose a little but didn't say anything. She liked them, so they had to be at least a little good.

Seeming to shrink into his shell, Laial's emotions all shut down, except for guilt. "Mahou? Is she your guardian? An yeah, I guess it's good...kinda plain, though..." he started reverting to a more chopped-up speech, something he only did when he wasn't comfortable in the current situation.
Nexen cocked her head and looked at the crickets. They looked good. Looked like the bugs in the garden Maji yelled at her once for eating. Except these looked burned and... not moving. She crept closer and continued to stare at the crickets.

Vivina pointed to the pie again to answer Anoki's question. "Acacia is a type of tree. The shoots under the bark are what's in this pie. It's very good, but other people don't think so. For instance, Colin had to brush his teeth and use mouth wash. I don't think he likes fruits and vegetables...You wanna try some? If you don't like it, it's ok. Not many people enjoy it like I do." She pushed her pie towards Anoki and smiled. Sharing was the least she could do to make new friends into close friends.
Vivina also looked at Laial, who seemed to be very...emotional. Seeing that he didn't seem to notice her, she didn't want to make things worse and restrained from asking him questions. Her attention shifted to Nexen, who was looking at her crickets with interest. Smiling, she took one and placed it in front of Nexen. "You want one? It's crunchy and good, but not good like the squirmy live ones. Mom doesn't want me eating them because of germs and such."

The idea of Mahou being his guardian was so silly that Anoki giggled a little. He didn't even consider the fact that if the elf were in charge of him, he might not have it so hard. "N-nuh. M-mama Ray t-t-takes c-care of m-me. M-mahou just h-helps."
And she did the cooking and the cleaning and most of the important stuff, but Anoki didn't mention that part.
"S-sounds yummy," he commented about the pie. Anoki liked things that grew on trees, like apples and oranges and nuts. And he did want to try some. Taking the fork in his hand, the boy broke off a small piece and put it in his mouth, savoring the taste. It wasn't really what he expected, but at the same time it wasn't bad. He wasn't sure if it was "good" but he definitely didn't need to wash his mouth out.
Finally Anoki swallowed and nodded. "G-good."

Laial forced himself to calm down from before, noticing the giant black eyes that he felt on him. Wait, a laugh? What was the laugh for?! Snapping his head and attention back to Anoki, whom he identified the sound coming from. What was he laughing for?! Calm down.. calm down... calm down... calm down. "Scheu's a helper..." he muttered before going back to eating his rice.
Nexen hunched down when Vivina saw her, concerned that Vivina might hiss at her or something bad like that. But no, instead she offered a cricket. And she said it was like the ones outside. She grabbed it and shoved it in her mouth before the squirrel could rethink the offer.

Vivina smiled as Anoki ate the piece of pie. She was amazed when he didn't spit it back out and run around drinking anything to get rid of the taste. Giggling to herself, she chomped on another piece and listened to Anoki and Laial talk. Not knowing what to say, she shrugged and kept quiet.
Vivina looked carefully at Nexen. She looked as if she was going to run and hide any moment. She smiled brightly trying not to do anything bad and when the fox grabbed the cricket, she pulled her hand back. "What do you think? Is it good?"
Dan looked at the time and clapped his hands. "Alright, hurry up and finish eating. That way we can finish the collages and then go out to the playground. By then, your parents or guardians should be back to pick you up." Grinning, he ate the last of his salad and began cleaning up and putting all the leftovers back into the fridge and cabinets in a spare room.
