Super Sailor Perdita

“Yeah, just a bit damp!” Perdita said, trotting alongside Belmont to help Connie out of the water. Naturally she was worried, but a part of her wanted to laugh about it too.

Perdita had to believe they were safe here, that this obstacle course wouldn’t have been set up for them if there was any risk to their lives. (That would be counterproductive. They had a war to fight, and everything she’d heard about Cybele seemed to indicate that she took the war seriously.) Of course they should get Connie out of there as soon as possible just in case, but once they did Perdita was able to smile at the sight of Connie drenched from head to toe.

“These outfits definitely aren’t the most practical,” Perdita said as she helped Connie up and led the way back to the part of the shore they were supposed to have emerged on. She bent over to pull her shoes off as they went. She could run and fight in heels when she had to, but she’d rather not have them trip her up again. “Looks like the next obstacle is that wall. You guys think we can make it in one jump?”

Perdita pulled her stockings off too, then ran for it on newly bared feet. She jumped as high as she could and sailed over the wall with ease.

Halle

Forget arm wrestling and hunting cryptids, the training course was where Halle would be able to really show his stuff! He's been training for months, and even picked paths through the city that made up a sort of course, through construction sites, playgrounds, and other places full of interesting obstacles.

Even before becoming a knight, this was the sort of thing he liked doing so clearly...

Clearly his little "courses" lacked in water features. Full of speed and too much determination not to humiliate himself in front of Mechelen, again, Halle's foot landed poorly on a wet rock, spilling him into the water. It was a good thing he knew how to swim, but even so, the current was...

Well. There goes his plans for a perfect run.

And not embarrassing himself.

Again.

Halle

Finally wading out of the river and jogging back to the path, the squire wondered if there was a place in his forest that would be suitable for that sort of jumping course. For a training course in general, really. He squeezed out water as he went until realizing that he could just change into his civilian clothes and back into a fresh set. Even though he was surrounded by allies, Halle still felt wary enough about his normal identity to go hide in the bushes as he did so.

Running back out, Halle picked up the pace, reaching...a massive wall, half ancient with a top that was a little more cobbled together but was still pretty impressive. All of them can jump up to building rooftops, so something like this that could potentially stumble someone here had to be taller than your usual climbing wall.

He didn't quite leap over it in a single bound, but catching the top of it felt pretty good, as did the pull-up that followed. Okay, why couldn't he have started like this?

Halle

On the other side of the wall, Halle took a moment to scan the rope course before taking off on a steady run. Noticing it'd get harder the further he got, he tried to focus on setting a consistent pace and getting used to ropes. It wasn't the fastest crossing at all, but he was able to maintain about that same speed until the end.

Even if he did have a few near misses.

Halle

Exhaling as he finished the rope course without falling, the squire was first wary, then elated, as he reached the ziplines. Now these he knew. Both from vacations at national parks and the make-shift DIY attempts he and his friends in Bailey would periodically set up. Because nothing is as capable or scary as a gang of rural kids with a little too much handyman know-how, and way too much time on their hands.

He barely noticed how the rope was tied, hands working with familiar quickness. The run up was an aggressive sprint, this was the last leg so he had to go all out, right? And he'd probably be okay even if he did take (another) spill. Maybe once a person's ego has been bruised enough, the new ones don't seem as noticeable?

He hoped?

And then Halle was flying.

Did he woooohoooooo?

He absolutely woohoo'd with the energy and vigor that only a teenager could muster. Halle landed with a laugh and whoop, beaming as he looked around to see if everyone else was as elated by how awesome that was.

As far as a finish went, he'd say it was pretty perfect!

Grieve

Looking at the training course, arms crossed, Grieve determined that this really wasn't gonna be the traditional Cybele Party Bacchanal. Squinting in the distance, she thought she could make out a decent-sized wall at least and she did like standing in high places. Sure it wasn't ******** preferable to shedding blood or other body fluids all over the forest, but it's been a thousand years since her last senshi party.

Hopefully the princess would at least feed them before kicking them back to Earth.

Grieve jogged up to the river, overshot the rocks for an impressive splash, and then jumped out, just happy that Cybele's waters weren't as murderous as her own world's.

Did this count as taking her monthly bath?

Grieve

Instead of approaching the wall and then jumping, the deep space senshi bounded and leaped, higher and higher the closer she got, building a springing momentum as she went.

Feeling it was a little quiet, Grieve's horrible singing voice filled the forest.

Wena Dilly did she,
dreamt a'tall hansom knights
o'er sea and unner tree
they course through the sky

For far cities they'll fight
n'take love t'make lovers' cry
o'er night and unner knight
they course through the silks

Ands then she was up and over the wall.

Grieve

The ropes looked fun, but she was more interested in why Cybele had so much rope on hand. Grieve kept her momentum from the wall, gracefully running and leaping along the ropes with near perfect form. As she ran, she kept on torturing all those nearby with her singing.

Wena Dilly don't she
know better t'chase those so fair
o'er winds and unner lee
they course toward their tragedies

For tender touch n'bloody wars
the fading knights so lovely
o'er worlds and unner stars
they course through the sky

Grieve

The deep space senshi reached the zipline, and Grieve was fairly sure she remembered this place. A lot of memories concerning Cybele of the past, both the senshi and the world, weren't the most sober sort. It was part of the charm of visiting. It was always in some sort of celebration for Grieve and her comrades, for the people of this world.

We lived.

We won.

We ******** not celebrate? Why not drink 'til the forest tilts on its head? Til everyone's a little in love and wholly ready to fight all comers? Or run around breaking skulls on the forest's little treats, like the one before her. Grieve laughed, recalling herself and various others trying to go down the lines in the most risky, foolhardy ways possible, of the concussions that followed.

Grabbing the rope, she ran hard for the jump, a bit too sober to end up with an injury. After all, there wasn't much point if Cybele wasn't gonna nurse her back to health this time. Instead Grieve would have to settle for the thrill of it, the moment of speed and joy as she reached the finish.

It probably wasn't a particularly winning time, but Grieve didn't feel bad for it. The forest course had its odd touchstones, and she found herself greedy for such. (Though she was still hoping to find a banquet or stumble into the odd bit of lechery.)

Transcended Eternal Sailor Ganymede

Ganymede turned to handle Eupheme’s blunder with a slightly exasperated look on her face. “No more magic while we’re here,” she decided. “You need more practice before you do that while other people are using the course, too. You could have seriously hurt them.”

She paused to look over the two boys, extending both hands for anyone who needed the help of one. “I’m so sorry. Now you’re all covered in mud.”

Before she could fuss for too long, her gaze landed on the symbols the two knights wore. Both were familiar, though the boys themselves were not.

“Lysithea and Ganymede, huh?” A smile twitched onto her face. “Knights from the same system. They’re both moons of Jupiter.” She lifted a hand and tapped a finger against the shining symbol on her forehead. “I’m Ganymede.

“The next obstacle’s just there,” she said, pointing to the wall. “You three go ahead and I’ll bring up the rear.”

Mechelen

An obstacle course seemed like such a fun idea…in theory. Honestly, she wished that she had someone to do the course with...but then again at the same time she was more than half glad that she didn’t have anyone watching her if she failed anything…that would just be between her and whatever creatures occupied this planet…and like…whoever else might be watching.

Staring at the stepping stones, Mechelen hesitated. Her boots weren’t…made for wet things, and the grips on them weren’t meant to…do this kind of stuff. At least she didn’t think so…but.

Drawing in a breath she leapt to the first stone, and then the second, and then before she knew it, she had crossed to the other side, absolutely flawlessly.

“Okay! I can do this!”

A quick glance around showed that Halle wasn’t watching which…did nothing but bolster her courage. There was no way she would appear uncoordinated in front of Halle. Heaven forbid.

Mechelen

Well, now that Mechelen had completed the first obstacle, she felt a little upset that nobody had been there to see her…it wasn’t bad...but since she had done so well…it might have been nice to just show off a little…as a treat.

Of course, by now she felt as though she could simply take on the world, and as she looked at the next thing, she felt…confident and took a running jump, just knowing that she would be able to succeed with little effort. She was magical and she could jump so high…so.

So of course when the first jump she made had her missing the edge of the wall…she fell back to the ground with an audible, “Oof!”

That wasn’t how things were supposed to go, and the Squire looked around quickly, hoping nobody had seen her blunder, and then tried again, only to fall once more.

When she finally managed to get to the top, she relaxed, and flopped backwards for a moment.

There. She had done it!
