Eternal Athene

Whilst Athene knew that the thing that had worn Liryn's face was not Liryn, he couldn’t help but feel a little sick at the sound of the screech, the sound echoing in his ears even as he continued to back away–

And whilst his head knew that the real Liryn wasn’t here and his heart knew that the real Liryn would never break a promise or abandon those that he considered his, the illusion had been a cruel one and the image of the thing with his friend's stolen form was one that was probably one that was going to be something that featured in future nightmares.

But the shadows surrounding him was gone and there was a floral scent that he had smelt once before, a scent that was still too new to be familiar, but was comforting nonetheless - and with the shadows gone he could finally see the others, could see Illyria on a shelf and Selinur and Ida both–

Could see the petals falling around Idaand that his friend had taken Princess form.

"Yes, we need to end this" he said and if his eyes were wet with tears then Athene wasn't going to admit to them, was doing his best to avoid even thinking about the thing that had taken his friend's shape as he looked first to Illyria and then to Ida and Selinur both, his hand tightening on the senshi phone for a moment before he tucked it awkwardly back in his sash–

And whilst later he might dwell on how close he'd been to being taken in, or the way that the thing with Liryn's face had tumbled as it fell, before before pierced by the light, for now Athene did his best to try and push the feelings down, to try and bury them down - because now wasn't the time.

He could sense the darkness in the room up ahead however, knew that whatever form that the chaos was taking that it was most likely not that much further ahead.

Athene hesitated for a moment before continuing, "I'll go ahead and use my magic to try and trap it" because if his magic played ball then maybe he could at least contain it for a little bit "But my magic's more of the supportive kind - I doubt it will be able to do more than hold it."

And that was only if his magic played ball.

As the image of Willow spoke once more, before being pulled away. the ancient senshi was left shaking his head to clear it. He should have been better prepared for it but how could he? He knew it would look into his heart and use it against him - but Willow. How could his own senses, his own knowledge of her being dead, be so muddled and forgotten that this magic had worked on him so well.

When he was able to see the others again he nodded his headonce in greeting. "I see we all made it out alright." If not a bit worn and drained, emotionally at least, it seemed some were rattled from this. He was annoyed more than anything, both with himself and the chaos. He just hoped no one else had heard himself or the fake Willow. He would still keep the secrets of his home planet, and that included just how much informatio nthey had stored on everyone and everything.

"Mine will do something but not much...I'm too weak as I am." Not like he was so long ago. His magic was chilly and cold but it would do something at least. He would change that soon, he had to, he'd gain back his wings as soon as he could - he'd need them to save his own planet. He'd need every bit of strength he had and than some. "I don't what it'll actually do to something that isn't as solid as a person though."

It took a group effort to defeat the chaos anomaly in the back of the facility. The closer they got, the more unnerving it was. Coordinating their magic and planning how best to subdue the chaos was an effective strategy, and the combined efforts of the group meant that they approached with care and consideration.

Whatever combination they used, they might have noticed that their magic manifested in a strange, distorted way–but, thankfully, it was to their benefit.

The chaos anomaly had some resilience; at first, it cracked. Then, it shattered.

Then, it imploded.

It seemed like it sucked all of the chaos out of the air, and the underground walls rumbled and groaned but the structure held despite the impromptu earthquake.

And then, for a split second, the chaos surged again. It was overwhelming and felt like it might get a greater grip and recuperate, but whatever footing it almost had was lost. A shockwave rippled from multiple locations, simultaneously. Within seconds, or a moment at most, the chaos anomalies were destroyed. The heart of the chaos was destroyed.

The natural threats seemed to lessen, too. The winds carrying rocky debris in the clouds seemed to slow; though the debris hovered in the air, they were no longer projectiles. The gusts closer to the ground no longer stung. Thunder dulled and then diminished, and the lightning stopped almost immediately.

The rain fell harder, but only briefly. It was long enough to put out the fires sparked during the storm. The river was surging, but the current seemed more controlled, and already the water level was lowering.

And then, the rain turned to a trickle and then faded altogether. The monstrous clouds thinned, and then pockets of them began to clear, and then they faded, too. Alastor’s world had been covered in dark skies for centuries--and now, the sunrise. The sky was already lighting up with pinks and oranges, not unlike Earth, but the colors were so vibrant and pure.

There were no shadows to block it. Alastor was a fresh, renewed world, thanks to them.

The great oak in the courtyard by the Hall had nearly a thousand years to grow to its immense size, and its roots had buried themselves deep into the ground. They cradled the Core of the world, and it was the greatest beacon of their success.

The liquid gold light of the Core stretched up through the oak tree and gave it a magical glow and–more than that, little golden lights bobbed through the air around the Hall like fireflies. They ranged in size from marbles to golf balls, and coming into contact with them felt like passing through soothing, warm pockets of air. There were thousands, easily–like the world was celebrating their victory with them.

It was peaceful now, and the oppressive, hateful chaos that had been smothering them before was gone. Now, the only thing left to do was take a moment to catch their breath, and then meet up back at the Hall’s lobby.

This is the last prompt based post for the roleplay! If you would like to continue writing you can, but this can also count for the close. All characters should head back to the Hall; the following roleplay is completely optional and players don’t have to post but their characters can be handwaved as attending. If your character would rather teleport home or otherwise leave Alastor without attending, please let me know! Thank you!

I'm so sorry for the delay! I didn't notice this prompt didn't get posted earlier!
