“Swimming is fine.” Danika replied quietly as she waded past Tyiva and allowed the water to swirl up around her thighs and then slightly above her hips. “Does Oba not have much water at all? Surely it cannot be all desert.” She could not imagine how anyone could live in such conditions. It just seemed too desolate a location for any community to thrive.

“You’re right.” Tyiva admitted as she followed Danika into the deeper waters. When she was far enough she stretched her arms and splashed forward so that she was lightly swimming around her friend. “It’s not all desert. There are areas with natural springs which allow life to flourish while we live in Jatine which is a southern city by the water. Our actual home is on the edge of the desert but has an oasis so that our courtyard is full of plants and we even had a spring built in for swimming. It’s my favorite place to spend my afternoons.”

“That sounds lovely.” Danika replied quietly as she kicked forward in the waters. Darting about almost like a fish, the mystic was obviously accustomed to swimming in the deeper waters. Others perhaps could worry about her for swimming alone like this so often, but at the same time since she was alone there was no one to chastise her actions. “Though you may get rusty if you spend all day just relaxing by a pool.” She teased lightly as she darted past her friend and splashed her a little.

“Haha.” Tyiva replied lightly as she twisted in the waters to pursue Danika. “I know better than to simply laze all day. I train and will continue to do so with or without a hunt.” In Jahaur she had always been part of a hunt with her family. They trained by chasing predators and by hunting their meals in the wild forests. Menzuri were not even daunting whenever her family was involved. The thought brought a bitter smile to her lips before she ducked her head beneath the surface of the waters. Enough moping about them. You’re starting a new family now. She chided herself before emerging next to Danika and knocking some water towards the other Alkidikie.

After being splashed, Danika sputtered a bit before shaking her head. Tossing water from her dreads, the Alkidike turned on Tyiva and started towards her. “Really? Then I suppose we’ll have to find out.” She grinned as she darted beneath the waters and reached for Tyiva’s leg. A simple grab and a twist would bring her friend beneath the waters for a good scuffle.

“Wha-!” Tyiva let out a gasp before getting pulled under by Danika. Her gaze burning from the salty water, Tyiva closed her eyes and had to take a moment to grasp her surroundings. Finding balance she waited a second before kicking outwards against her captor. This had been a game when they were young and despite being rusty at fighting in the water, Tyiva was determined to put up a good fight.

Danika let out several bubbles in laughter as her friend gave a good kick. This was definitely nostalgic. They had fought all the time while growing up. Nothing vicious, just something to help with their training so that they could stand apart from most of their peers. Danika had such a dangerous drive and Tyiva had matched it with her own, a perfect pair for sparring. Even now when she found herself forced to let go, Danika did not simply give up. Instead she darted through the waters to try and jab Tyiva in the sides and catch her unawares in a grab.

Tyiva tried to pull back from Danika’s grab but the other Alkidike managed to snag her arm. Frowning, Tyiva used all of her strength to pull her arm free before finally starting towards the surface. Her lungs were burning in her chest and their playful attacks had taken a lot of effort. She couldn’t hold her breath much longer! FInally when she emerged, Tyiva let out a loud gasping breath and rejoiced whenever air filled her body. “Danika!” She chided lightly. “We’re not all fish people, you know.”

Emerging, Danika took a deep breath before grinning sheepishly towards Tyiva. “My apologies. I suppose I should find one of those Kahikana for a new fighting partner.” She teased lightly before twisting so that she could float on her back. “You did well for someone who hasn’t been in the waters much.”

“You mean for someone who hasn’t had to fight a maniac in the waters.” Quipped back Tyiva as she followed suit and started to float on her back. “Good thing there are no ocean wars yet. You would be the most dangerous warrior of us all.” She teased playfully as she used her arms to push her way through the waters.

“Thank you?” Danika raised a brow before pulling herself through the waters and towards the shoreline. “I find it helps with my balance on land. If you can do maneuvers underwater then surely you can manage it on the actual ground.” She closed her eyes to enjoy the feeling of the waters ebbing around her body. “I’ve always loved the ocean so much that I wonder if I was born the wrong race.” She admitted almost jokingly.

“Perhaps.” Replied Tyiva with a laugh. “Maybe I was born to the wrong race as well.” The Alkidike let out a sigh as she simply rested in the waters. “This is nice.” She admitted as she floated alongside Danika. “I suppose we can enjoy this for a bit longer.”

“Mmmhmm.” Danika bobbed in the waters. “Then perhaps we could enjoy a meal together before you head back into Jahaur?” She smiled as she twisted and looked towards Tyiva. “It’s been a while since I’ve had some of your cooking. I’m curious to see how life in Oba has changed your methods.”

“It’s not changed that greatly. I’m still a goddess at cooking.” Replied Tyiva lightly. “If anything I should introduce you to some of the spices from Oba. They are delightful and some burn in your mouth like fire. I’m finding myself fond of them more and more as the days pass.” As they spoke she simply bobbed in the waters. “Give me a few more minutes of this and then I suppose we can find something to cook.” It truly had been a while since they spent time together like this and every moment was precious to Tyiva. Aisha only knew when she would come back to Chibale next after all.

Danika wrinkled her nose at the thought. Would she want her mouth to be on fire while eating? “I suppose I could give these spices a try.” She acknowledged after a moment. “If they delight you so much then it would be a shame for me to not try.”
