Although my dad came up with a recipe with baked chicken breasts:
How ever many chicken breasts he made four skinless, & no fat a can of each soup cream of chicken cream of celery cream of mushroom
and spices
celery oregano garlic
but the spices could be altered if you want.
mix all three soups and spices together put aside half, put other half in a baking dish and put the chicken on top of the soup, pour remaining soup over the chicken and bake @ 350 for 35 Min's or until done, serve with rice or mashed potato's and a veggie of coarse.

Dev,
I have a nice recipe that's a pumpkin seed stew with spinach, onions and tomatoes that's really simple and vegetarian. I like to serve it with a nice plain basmati rice, and iff'n I'm feeling extremely nibbly...I like to make feta turnovers.
The recipe is African, and it's also not very expensive. Let me know if you're interested!
Also, how are you with Egyptian? I have a recipe I adore for Mujaddara/Megadarra with rice, caramelized onions, and brown lentils with a garlic yogurt sauce that's nice. You'd just have to make some sort of steamed veggie for the side. Fortunately it's also another very inexpensive dish... biggrin
Let me know!

The hotter the better though. biggrin I'll dig those up and post them this weekend. Mebbe tonight if I can get the chance. Oh and hot? I can oblige you with that as well. I live with Mr. Dave's Insanity Hot Sauce Junior for a roomie. My lil brother is quite the fiend. So...I'll see what I can do. BTW, the spinach stew would be good if you got a bottle of scotch bonnet pepper sauce for it, and added some. Or, if you just put in a few tbsp of cayenne. wink

FastFresnel Ah, Jiggy, you wax so sweetly poetic over an excellent meal that you ought to write restaurant reviews there instead of doing boring old admin work. It's practically an erotic experience, right? I once was told by an admirer that it was arousing to watch me eat, I took so much pleasure from it. I'm picking up that vibe here. Booky, I maintain that the goodness of a dish is in direct proportion to how messy it is. This one looks like an absolute winner! mrgreen redface Thanks, Fresnel! I sometimes ponder doing just that sort of thing. I hear there's an influx of junior foodies that are all chomping at the bit do just such a thing...makes me twitchy. I don't want to compete, I just want to talk about it til my head explodes. I have a friend who tells me that he takes great joy in watching my expressions when I'm dining and the meal is good. Sometimes, it makes me nervous to go out with him but usually the food beats the nerves back and suddenly I don't care any more. Gads...if I ever come to Atlanta, or you come to Austin, we should go eat together. *laughs* Then everyone in the restaurant can study us while we rhapsodize, and we can be blissfully unaware. rofl Oh and I concur, the more rustic and messy the dish the better. *pointedly looks at Pilbo, scanning him for messy old crumbs of croissant* I use to have out and out verbal battles with my ex over the subject. He liked needlessly complex fusion foods and I prefer simple, hearty and rustic.

So sick of being lazy. Glad to oblige. Hmmm for times you're not feeling lazy, I may have some other recipes that are a little more intensive, too. I have a Greek briami casserole too...it's a lot of chopping but it's a fabulous dish of peppers, potatoes, onions and squash, sauteed in olive oil and garnished with a homemade tomato sauce, with a hit of fresh black pepper. I tend to give it a sprinkle of balsamic vinegar, and let it go for the hour or so of cooking it does in the oven. Then ya grab a fresh loaf of artisan bread and some crumbled feta and you've got a damn lot of food that only gets better over the next few days. wink

Hehe! Your craving isn't all that odd. Or maybe it's just me. I think the pleasant, brisk and slighty soapy taste of cilantro is a huge necessity in my life. I understand ya!
I'd die if I couldn't get some cilantro. *laughs* Come over here, and we'll go to Mr. Natural and have potato flautas with cilantro and avocado sauce!
I swear they have the best mexican brown rice, too. Oooh, and horchata! And these really pleasant gorditas with refried pintos and mild white oaxaca cheese!
*wiggles her antennae*
