Muse smiled widely at Browie Because he was just a sweetheart tolerating her being so curious of everything. Quickly she listened to him as his tippiness was setting in. Trying to not skip a beat she basically bookmarked everything in her mind so she wouldn't forget. Firstly he was born in the Barrens.. Second, he loved homewood! Who wouldn't really as it was a paradise well, to some it was more sanctuary. Thirdly, his favorite food was.... dessert?! Brownie certainly was amusing to her as his emotions certainly showed when the fermented juice seemed to settle deep in his subconscious. Pondering a bit she smiled to Millie, "Nice to meet you Millie. May I have one of your sweeter non-fermented brews please?"

Sipping with an appreciative smile to Millie she returned her attention to Brownie, "Hmm only thing that comes to mind is those blue crystals they brought back from the barrens. Do you know what they do?"

Then she forgot her manners again leaving the handsome icy blue buck standing there with his own questions.

Oh I'm terribly sorry ugh..." she paused since they hadn't exchanged names, "Let's start this off right again shall we? I'm Muse. What's your name?" There now things wouldn't be so awkward and Brownie could address him as well. His own words spoke of coldness, not being used to Homewood? Why Homewood was indeed all she'd ever known except tales of the Bog, Barrens, and most likely the ruins. This buck was from some place she'd never heard about. Seemed the appropriate place to learn things today standing here.

"Oh Brownie?" she replied to the buck's query, "He's a dire rat from the barrens. They are pretty much new here to Homewood thanks to Wanderlust".

Meeting a handsome stranger and a dire rat was so exciting. She definitely needed to make a bucketist since she was accomplishing so many things today.

The sights and sounds drew curiosity closer as a lone female dire rat investigated the scene. She was being cautious of everyone because Homewood was indeed something of a mystery to her. Being used to the sandy terrain the soft grass was strangely comforting as paws touched upon this marvelous place. Straying from her troupe she had followed the rescue party the entire way to Homewood keeping out of sight. Nose twitching she took in smells that enticed her.

Suddenly, a larger noulicorn offered her a treat without hostility. It was a warm and friendly tone she openly accepted with paws wrapping around the pastry. How strange she thought to herself. These creatures were being so polite to her as she nibbled on this treat.

"Thank you" she breathed with a sweet smile.

Gazing about she saw all sorts of things like flowers, treats, drinks, noulicorns and Dire Rats!? They were living here in harmony with the rescuers? Tilting her head she finished her pastry followed by cleaning hear face and eats. Afterwards she groomed her tail and set off to continue investigating. Such a lively crew gathered here which was inspiring, almost contagious. till she kept her head down and scurried in and out of the trees till she paused looking at a gathering of nouls and a dire rat. From the corner of her eye she noted another of her kind sneaking through another set of trees with golden eyes.

"I wonder what he's up to?" she spoke quietly watching him inch closer to that gathering.

User Image Wynter watched the doe as she spoke to the strange creature. One that was said to be one of these Dire Rats. He hadn't run into any on his travels from home to the forest of Homewood. Home was no longer a place he could stay. It had been a long and daunting journey from one place to another. Ears flicking forward as he looked down at the one named Brownie.

His attention soon went back to the doe as she went on to introduce herself. Muse, huh? A lovely name for a lovely doe. A kind smile crossed his features as he lowered his head a little. Minding to be careful of his horns, didn't want to poke anyone with them.

"Wynter." Was all he said before raising his head back up. "It is pleasure to meet you, Miss Muse. Dire Rat, huh? Seems they are as new to this place as I am." He chuckled slightly, tail flicking slightly behind him. "This Wanderlust, I take it that they are great in these woods. I had heard word of the Noul, but only in passing."

Tempest inclined her head at him. “Yes, I’m not sure we had the opportunity to swap names. Lovely to officially meet you, Fiontan.” Tempest was about to look to the doe keeping him company when she noticed Fiontan grow a bit tense. Something had caught his attention and she turned her head to look back the way she’d come. Nothing seemed too noticeable, just the arrival of a rather flashy buck with strange horns and his band. The music was quite lively and enjoyable, got Tempest to dance slightly to it.

Her head turned back around when she heard the doe’s voice speak to her. She’d caught a glance of this doe before she was sure, she looked familiar. Tempest tilted her head, “Nice to meet you Kachina. I’m not very good at staying still for long, so I’ll stand for now. Thank you.” Unless it was bed time, Tempest was generally always on the move in one way or another. Now with a band playing a lively tune, there was no way Tempest would be able to settle enough. Her back end was already bouncing along to the tune.

“How we know each other? Not sure we really do. We did travel together in the same search party not too long ago. We just never socialized during the journey. I was younger and ungifted, I tended to keep to myself.”

Elysia excused herself from Whirra’s company and moved more out into the open area. Besides all the nouls and the one brown dire rat, she noticed another one nearby and she was looking at something. Elysia glanced over and saw that she was watching yet another dire rat, one with a blaze on his face and golden eyes. This is most wonderful to see, Elysia thought to herself. When she first arrived here on Wanderlust’s back, she wasn’t sure how well the nouls of Homewood would handle a dire rat among them. Now there’s multiple and the nouls have started to accept the new species among them.

A loud sound, no sounds, of multiple things was drifting over the festival. A large group of nouls had arrived and among them even more dire rats and not just any dire rats, ones that were making music while a noul sang along. Well that wasn’t something you see everyday. Once Elysia regained her composure, she decided to wonder over to the female dire rat she spotted, a lovely hooded doe.

“Hello there!” Elysia called to the other female dire rat. It’s been some time since she had a conversation with her own kind.

User ImageBrownie took a few more gulps of water to wash away the effects of the fermented cider he had accidently mistaken for juice. He watched Muse sip her non fermented drink and hope she liked it he had tried that one earlier and found it to be a little to bitter for his liking.

He frown at he next question because he knew he would not be able to answer it. "That I one thing I have no knowledge of sorry. The Pack I was from had some around but I was far to young to know why they even had them. I know that some of use have been able to give gifts with the use of the crystal much like you get your gifts form the Grandfather Tree but that is all I really know."

Muse then turned her attention to the pretty blue buck that had been standing next to her but Brownie being a little tipsy only just noticed him. Giggling at the buck he said to him "Wow your pretty." And was instantly mortified because the thought was spoken out loud. "I am so sorry. I drank cider that was fermented but mistake and I am afraid it has got to my head a little." he finished his apology then gulped down some more water. Looking around Mille much have found a juice pear for him and silently set it next to him so he grabbed it started eating hoping that would help a lot more then the water was.

User ImageKachina smiled at Tempest's explanation on not wanting to sit with them. She could totally understand not being able to sit still. She was much the same when the wind was blowing but today it was a peaceful wind that only came once and a great while, noting much for dancing.

A band was being set up across the way and as they began to play, Kachina notice Tempest was already starting to bounce to the tones. Kachina watch one buck who seemed to be in the leader of the band give orders for this or that but turned her attention back to the two she was conversating with now. As she watched Tempest bounce to the music, Kachina thought to herself "This doe as a lot of fun and exciting energy."

"Oh you two helped find the Wanderlust? How wonderful of you both. I was to young to join into that party. I tried but my mother and father only laughed and said I was better off meditating and sending the party good vibes for all of yours safety." She looked back and forth between the two nouls with excitement and wonder. She had wanted to be more helpful but she probable would have been more trouble in the long run. She had spent three days with out food or water meditating for the safety of them all and when they came back with no more the scratches she was proud of herself for it all.

User ImageThe White fluffy clouds pasted over head and cased fun shapes on the forest floor below. between each cloud was crystal blue water. If one was standing at water they would have had a hard time telling where sky began and water started. It truly was a beautiful day.

Lady Calelha had been on the other side of the Homewood when she had learned that she was late for the Spring festival. She had an emergency mushroom run for an elder noul so it really was unavoidable. As she neared the clearing where festival was taking place she could hear that the festival was well underway.

A band had started and chattering was happening all around. Calelha wondered if her sister would be here this was totally her type of place. But it have been awhile since she had heard from her sister. Their gifts kept them apart more then either of them really liked but the had a part to play so once again unavoidable.

Calelha immerged for the trees and bushes that lined the clearing. It was all set up in flowers and greenery of all type form every part of the Homewoods. The Festival was truly breath taking in all its wonder. Something Calelha was surprised to see was dire rats running around. Their was not many of them but it was so very wonderful to see them being accepted as part of the Homewood community now.

Calelha made her way through the groups of nouls. She still did not know many of the nouls of the Homewood and had only met one noul outside of her parents inner circles. The thought of him made her checks heat up a little. "Thank you buddy for hiding my face." She thought to the mushroom that veiled her face these days.

Calelha found a nice spot by the music and under a tree to stand where she could both be out of the way and still be apart of the event taking place. Form this spot she could see everything in the festival but also watch the clouds and guess the shapes of the clouds too. She was going to have a great day even though she had come so late to the event.

Pippin in the meantime halted when he noticed the blue noul hanging about. Why was there so many in one place he wanted to get something from. Rubbing his whiskers he had an inkling he was being watched. Slowly he turned his head noticing a pretty hooded agouti doe watching him. Pausing he was about to scurry over to talk to her when another doe took the moment.

"Not now", he muttered then looked back toward the drink server. He was in a position right now of being noticed by the other nouls and dire rats. Shrugging he decided he wanted something to drink and scurried over.

"One fermented cider please" he spoke hurriedly hoping the others would pay no mind to him coming and going. Taking the cider he dipped his head to Millie then scurried away before anyone would spot him. Looking over at the two does he raised his glass to her, "cheers" he spoke before gulping it down.

Athena had been so intent on watching Pippen she hadn't noticed another doe rat approaching. Quickly, she turned to greet the other, "Hello. I'm Athena. Homewood is a lovely place". Knowing nothing but the barrens it was quite a shock to be in such a lush area where water was accessible as well as food. Many days she had spent going hungry living out there in the heat filled nothingness.

Once again she caught a glimpse of the male raising a glass to her. Shaking her head she focused more on the newcomer.

"I hope it was alright following your rescue party out of the barrens. It wasn't pleasant living within the troupe that attacked those younger nouls" She was uncertain how this doe would react to her essentially stowing away with the return group. Honestly, she liked the ideal of feeling safe within Homewood where she wanted to stay.

Muse listened to Brownie intently though his response wasn't too fulfilling. In any case learning it was some sort of use for magic gave her hope she'd learn more about them

"Its alright Brownie" she responded smiling back to him, "I've head whispers that they helped you guys in some way so I wasn't sure what they did".

Before she turned back to the blue buck her eyes widened seeing the black dire rat scurry over for fermented juice an quickly depart to gulp it down like it was a magical resource. Watching him she also noted more dire rats specially two does. One the male was hinting an interest in. Capturing herself her attention turned back to the new Buck, "Wynter. That's a wonderful name for a handsome buck".

She paused noticing she'd just gave a compliment to the buck a bit more then she should of. Clearing her throat she laughed turning her attention to Brownie who was definitely showing he was a bit tipsy with his words.

Hearing about Wanderlust she perked up, "I personally don't know him but, he's done wonderful things. Pretty sure that's why a search party was set out to find him when the entire party came up missing". Thinking for a moment Muse was curious just where Wynter was from. "Umm if you don't mind Wynter... can you tell me more about your Homeland. I haven't been to too many places before myself so... I'd love to hear more about where you grew up, please".

Hoping she wasn't too direct she hoped he'd tell her so it would be something of a new learning, a step in knowledge about other places in the world.

User Image Ears flicked backwards as Wynter looked down at the Dire Rat that certainly had had way too much of this cider that was floating around. Shaking his head, he just chuckled.

"Pretty straight forward aren't you?" He said in good humor, not letting it show that what was said startled him too much. "Think you might want to go eat something to help take off the edge of all that cider. Back home, we'd bury you up to your head in snow until you sobered up."

It was in jest, but sometimes things said could snap another out of a stooper. He was not so sure it would help here, but was worth a shot at the very least. Shaking his head once again, he glanced at Muse as even she said something about him being handsome. Seems that not too many saw blue around these parts. Really he had seem a wide range of colors most brown to grey. The lovely lavender that sported Muse's coat. So he supposed it was something to that effect anyways.

With the mention of wanting to know his homeland. That was a subject he had never really thought anyone would be interested in. While his home was far away, not many Nouls had come to the place. Seemed that the most were here in Homewood and its surrounding areas. His home was still a grey area on maps.

"Home was very cold the most of the year. Got maybe three months of warmth for growing. Sometimes longer if Vykeli willed it so, but most the time it is cold. Snow everywhere." He put simply, he didn't want to get others thinking that he was crazy.. Then again it seemed very out there to start with.

"What about Homewood. Seems the main hub to find many Nouls and everything is so plentiful here." Wynter looked around at the gathering. "Is there always this many around at one time?"

User Image Finishing her skewer of roots and fruit, Misty took the stick used back to the vendor and tossed it into the small fire that was set under the cooking surface. While she was one to just toss things to where ever she at least wanted to keep the festival grounds somewhat clean... If not for herself, but those around her. This festival was seeming to be quite boring, everyone had their little groups or the will to meet others. Her, nah, she was more comfortable being on her own. The few that she had met...

They never ended in good ways, mostly her just walking away and seeking other places. Yep, Misty wasn't the greatest of chatters and it seemed to keep others away as well. Suited Misty just fine...

User Image The flower festival was here and Dusty had awaited for this time to close up the spa and take a much needed day off. Really she needed a week off with all the work that she and a friend were putting into the place. Today she was going to drag her friend to the festivities to help him get out of his funk. It wouldn't truly solve the problem, but maybe be a nice distraction. They all needed a distraction from the toils of the world.

"Come on Halen, this will be good for the both of us." she called energetically over her shoulder as she paused at the fringes. "We both need a day off from everything. Besides I heard they had a good hard cider, something you might just like." While she wasn't one to drink the stuff, maybe Halen would. She would just keep to tea and whatever else is served unframented.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.It had taken quite a bit of convincing on Sihaya's part, oh, and how convincing she could be, but Keevah finally relented and had agreed to accompany her friend to attend the floral festivities going on in Homewood. The liver chestnut doe didn't want to make a big to-do of it, and, as such, simply opted for a middling purple flower with its leaves still attached to be tucked behind one of her ears. One of the long, supple leaves curled down in front of her ear, while the other two curved up and back from her head. The idea was for the leaves to dress it up a bit and look interesting in the breeze or when she moved her head around. It wasn't much, but Keevah was nonetheless pleased with the effect. With such minimal sprucing up, she was the one who ended up waiting for her more gungho friend to finish with her final details.

Sihaya opted for something a little more dramatic. The deep blue, soft green-yellow, and white flower necklace she sported was the less fussy portion of her accessories. Her statement pieces were twin anklets of bells and flowers. Clearly the pintaloosa had every intention of kicking her heels up if there was any dancing to be done. If not, the soft jingling that accompanied every step was at the very least appropriately festive for the occasion. She emerged from her den with a contented sigh. "I'm ready."

"And here I was, beginning to worry I'd have to simply go home," Keevah teased mildly. "You do look nice. Well worth waiting for."

Sihaya tittered. "Glad I wasn't stood up then! Let's go before you change your mind on me." Keevah mocked looking wounded at the friendly barb before shaking her head with a smile. Silliness. She'd been properly convinced to go, and here she was to attend! She wasn't about to back out on her friend after she'd agreed to go with her. Falling into step, the two does made their way towards the festivities, lead as much by sound and scent as they were their knowing where to go. The smells of cooking food, of fragrant, sweet blooms growing in profusion, the sounds of happy, chattering folk and music drew them in. "You feeling hungry or thirsty, Keevah? Or have anything in mind for what you'd like to do?" The blue doe had in mind what she'd like to do eventually, but she didn't want to immediately abandon her more reticent friend upon arriving.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show."Honestly, I think I'd like to drink things in for a little bit to figure out what I'd like to go see or do. I can wait near the music if you want to go do your dancing thing." The roan nodded certainly, punctuating her statement. "I really don't mind, Sihaya. Go work up an appetite and then we can go check out what food and drink is available in a bit."

Sihaya sighed and nodded. "Sure thing, Keevah. You have fun. I'll find you in a bit." With their brief farewell, the blue doe began circulating. She could head to where the music and dancing was, but she wanted to check things out on her own, see what there was to see. She returned the greetings directed her way as she moved. She wasn't on duty so she was ready to just take it easy, enjoy herself. On her way, she noticed a chestnut tobiano doe on her own toss a skewer into the fire of the vendor selling fruit and tuber kebabs. "Hey," She chimed as she padded in closer, the tiny bells at her ankles tinkling softly. "Been here long or are you waiting on someone? I've only just gotten here and I'm sort of feeling things out. I'm Sihaya, before I forget myself." The other doe had to have been around at least long enough to eat a skewer, unless she had found it on the ground and someone else had discarded it. Regardless, she appeared alone, and Sihaya was feeling chatty.

Keevah watched Sihaya make her way off to socialize or dance or scout out the entertainments, before slowly walking toward the music, looking for a spot to sit for a time to absorb the scene of the festival. While hunting for a spot, she spied a doe with a fungus veil and hat. Creative and cute. "Oh," She paused her searching. "Excuse me. Sorry if I'm intruding, but I really like your veil. Are you a Fungal user by any chance?"

Life seemed a little brighter after meeting Dusty Rose and for the first time in ages, Halen dragged himself out of his wallow to join the festival of flowers. At Dusty's insistence, of course, with a promise that he'd try to slam the worst of his memories behind a boulder for the evening. Couldn't say it wasn't hard, especially with the raucous laughter of young fawns filling the forest. Still, for Dusty's sake, he wouldn't dwell on it. He followed her to the edge of the celebration glen, keeping his trudge to a slow crawl so Dusty's tiny legs could set the pace. They must have been an odd sight, an old, towering buck and a tiny doe barely off from Grandfather tree.

"Hard cider, huh?" Halen chuckled. "I could definitely go for a barrel or two of that right now."

As much as it hurt to see all the foals frolicking around their parents and nannies, Halen couldn't deny that he liked the festival atmosphere. This was the place to be when he was younger, barren's balls just a few years back when he was still a scout he would have been head long into the party. He'd probably run into scouts while he was here, Jerram never missed an opportunity to bring his family out.

"Let's steer clear of the kiddie tables, Dusty," said Halen. "See any familiar faces from the spa?"

Business was what it was, but maybe the festival would a good time to help advertise for new customers.

"We're going to be late, Goose, c'mon!" Elsie dashed ahead of her brother, trembling with excitement. Her mane and tail were braided with pale blue and yellow flowers and she wore a crown of sprigs and blossoms around her ears, accessories she'd been working on for weeks as the festival neared. She couldn't say which aspect she loved more, the dancing or frolicking, the decor, or the myriad of sugary fruits and vegetables set out in a banquette for all to enjoy. For the first time since she'd lived in Homewood, she had her own wares prepared too.

Emmerich grouched something as he caught up to her. His coat had been slicked to shining, but nothing could be done about the messy ridge he called a mane. Elsie attempted to tuck a bless blossom behind his ear to no avail. The hair was cropped too short and it would fall as soon as Emmerich moved. Emmerich grumped it would just get in his eyes anyway and he didn't need to be covered head to toe in flowers to enjoy the festivities. Elsie disagreed.

So now Emmerich wore a small cluster of flowers braided snugly at the base of his tail. Tucked into tight rolls and strapped to his back were Elsie's crafts - a dozen blankets decorated with her homemade dyes and paints depicting several of Homewood's most beautiful flowers.

Singing reached their ears, the collective voices of several noulicorns joined in cheer and celebration of Homewood's origins.

"We are late." Elsie shot Emmerich a grimace and picked up her pace.

"You're the one who wanted to spend the morning getting trussed up," Emmerich snorted.

"Hush, no sense going to a party without looking your best!" She leaped through a line of bushes into the clearing set-up for the celebrations. She spotted fruit vendors to one end, musicians in another corner, nannies setting up flower games for foals to play, and dozens more mingling together in conversation.

Emmerich wasted no time in barreling through the throngs to find a good spot, and Elsie followed behind him muttering apologies until Emmerich pulled the straps free with his teeth and let her blankets tumble to the ground.

Elsie set to rolling them out for display. "Are you going to mingle?"

Emmerich grunted in response. That would be a no then, at least to start. He'd ease his way into the crowds eventually, he always did.

Even Mother considered the flower festival an important celebration, honoring Homewood, Vykeli, and Grandfather tree, so when dawn light hit the trees and preparations began, Miros and the remainder of his family trekked to the edge of Homewood to help. His brother Rasa was already hard at work, making certain the tilled land was fit and well fertilized for the plants to come. Father, too, used his gift to keep the temperature comfortable for the expanders. Only Mother and Miros lacked magic to help in preparations, but they were both able-bodied and capable workers, so they each took up a row of earth and helped with the tilling until sweat and dirt coated their legs.

Chatter sprang up from the festival area as more noulicorns began to arrive. The cloying smell of roasted fruits and sweet sugar juiced filled the air and made Miros' mouth water for a taste, but he kept to his task, trudging his hooves through the hard dirt to make room for Rasa's flowers.

"Focus," said Mother, without bothering to look up.

Miros ducked his ahead and nodded. "Of course."

But he kept one ear toward the festivities. He'd join them when the work was finished.

On the mention of seeing anyone that she faces she had seen before. Well there were two that she recognized, not too many others. But it seemed that they were already busy talking to someone. Dusty had stopped for a moment to get a good look around. She did have to stand on her hind legs for a moment, her tail flicking to keep her upright until she dropped back to all fours. She had wanted to go over and hang out with the little ones. But, for Halen's sake and for her own. She nodded to agree to avoid then kids area.

"We should find something to eat before everything is gone." She said prancing in place, her excited energy washing off her in waves.

If anyone could live off that energy they would never go hungry. With all the cheer and excitement in the air. It was giving Dusty her own buzz as if she had been drinking.

Elysia sat up on her haunches and tilted her head curiously. So this Athena grew up in the barrens and lived in a group that attacked one of the parties? Both groups followed the same path to the forest of faces and the cave beyond. She blinked her dark eyes a moment before replying, “I think we’re from the same dire rat colony. I left before the rescue party but my group attack Wanderlust’s party first. I left after that. Our groups can get so large that we don’t always know everyone.” Absentmindedly, she cleaned her whiskers, “I just felt that the colony was moving backwards, or at least not progressing, in their thinking. So I left and followed the first party to the caves beyond the forest of faces. It’s nice to see that besides myself and the four pups, that others have decided to leave and come here. I think it’s better to work with the nouls than against them.”

User Image
Tempest smiled at Kachina. Good vibes was definitely helpful one that journey. “I think they helped, the good vibes, we didn’t loose anyone and we all got back safely with some new additions,” Tempest replied, her new additions was directed at the dire rats. She had noticed more come out of the woodwork, including one she recognized from Wanderlust’s party. She spotted Elysia talking to another dire rat that Tempest didn’t know. It must be nice to be able to reconnect with others of her species in a new home.

“What do you like to do for fun, Kachina?”

User Image
Xo was really liking the energy that was building around him. Other nouls seemed to really be enjoying the music around them. Once set up, his followers were set up on rotation so that everyone had free time to enjoy the festival but also work the refreshments. Xo was just happy to have good music and good company. He danced among the nouls and checked on those who stopped by to sit and eat. The air was filled with the lovely singing voice of his sister as she sang along with whatever tune the band played.

“Come,” he would say, enticing others in to dance and enjoy, “Come and sway with the music. Come and savor our sweet delights. Come.” His voice was like velvet to those heard it.

Mielikki had been busy enriching the fresh turned soil and decided it was time for a break. Walking deeper into the festival, the area had grown crowded with nouls and dire rats. Music floated through the air from a band not far off, a noul sang along. Mielikki made a note to skirt around it, she wasn’t a big fan of loud sounds. All the vendors were humming with business but Mielikki was really wanting a good drink and a place to sit for a bit. When it was her turn, she got her beverage and drank it down. The drink was fruity, tangy and had a nice pop at the end from the fermentation. It warmed her in her belly and made her feel more relaxed.

She noticed that some nouls eyed her. Guess they weren’t entirely sure what to make of a noul with a beard made of lichen. Mielikki didn’t really care all that much what others might think of it. She moved off and found a shady place under a large tree and laid down. It was nice to rest after some good hard work.
