Mags Butler
She was actually beginning to feel relieved that she'd found a like-minded soul in this nice joint, even if her dress was a lil bit confusing. When Ciaran mentioned the freeness of the food, Mags couldn't help but nod her head and give the other girl a wide grin.
"You got that right - I'm Mags, but folks al---"
She froze as she heard the growl at the same time as Ciaran, feet immediately jerking her a yard or so away from the table.
What in the hell?
"Yeah, sure heard it too. You.... you uh, think they keep cats like that in a place like this?"

Nate tried not to let his eyes light up at the promise of mixed drinks helping to ease the time he had to spend appreciating art and music. While he was all too aware of how important it all was, and how important it was to Elle, he was just feeling a little trapped in the black-tie-required setting. He would rather play with his girl in the community center, as simple as it was.
"I think you've mentioned it once or twice, but I'm fine with letting you repeat it. I do clean up, eh?" He made their way to the bar, waving his hand and gaining the attention of one of the servers.
"What do you want to-"
He paused, his thoughts cut off by a strange sound interrupting the already loud setting. It just did not fit in with the thrum of people chatting. Either someone was very, very hungry, or this place was a little more wild than he thought a stuffy event like this could be.
Was there going to be some sort of animal show?
Or was there a tiger under the bar, mixing the drinks?
It seemed odd, yet at the same time, perhaps even more so, it didn't. He was sort of hoping for a lion bartender, but maybe it was as simple as someone having their phone turned on with a particularly unique alert sound blaring.
"Er. What did you want?" He asked his fiance, motioning to the bar, though now he was a little disconcerted and finding it harder to concentrate.

Ciaran Cassidy
"Nice to meet you Mags!" She shoved a whole side of hor de'vours in her mouth as the growl disappeared and she made a shrugging motion.
It had startled her, and it made her wary to be honest. But she had worst things in her gaming experience.
"It would be one hell of a way to celebrate arts and music...don't you think?"
She moved closer to Mags, "I'm gonna stick to the food to be honest, I'm not a dancer. If you want though, I can dance with you?" She smiled, cause to be honest, Mags WAS cute, even in....whatever dress and she was awkward about flirting but hey.
"What's your favorite so far?" She pointed to the dishes.

Emilia Asher Malaise? The English nerd in Emmy was very aware of implications of discomfort, or possibly bronchitis if it were in an eighteenth century novel. It wasn't something from the baby books. That went on the mental list. Negative: possibly an edgelord. It wasn't really enough to to discourage her when he was being generous with the compliments, and she didn't mind the looks, either. It was nice to be admired when she'd spent the afternoon on clothes and makeup. A warmth started in her chest, almost like she'd already gotten to the alcohol. "Emilia," she said. He'd have to earn the nickname. A roar from behind the bar had her squinting over her shoulder. It looked empty. It was just the tigers. The man before her was much more interesting, and she turned back, leaning forwards about as much as this kind of social event would allow so there were only a few inches between them. "So, Malaise, what brings you out here tonight?"

This wasn't her sort of event, she wasn't the sort to attend black tie and dress events, but she'd heard of all kinds of events taking place in the city. It seemed the city was having some sort of magical issue, at least she thought it was magical, and she knew from her family that events in the city weren't safe. So she had come to see if there was more to this event than it seemed, her family was busy and couldn't come with her.
Heels clicked as she walked about the open area, skirting about people, dark eyes landed on a familiar figure and she made her way right towards him. "Sachio." Slowing her approach she kept her hands in front of herself, in her lap, as she stopped in front of the other.
Dressed in what most would call dolls clothing, made for humans, she had opted for darker than usual colors and hair her hair lightly curled trailing down her back. A small purse was held in her hands , and hung down from it's strap, as she stood looking up at the other. "I didn't expect anyone I knew to be here." Not that she knew many people, she didn't, but this wasn't the sort of place anyone she did know would be...or at least she thought that.

Lia de Leon"Knew there was reason my eyes were orange." Lia replied, her grin splitting her face now as she looked back down at him. "Rather be cheesy than cavity inducing--- I know what you do to cavities." The woman paused for a moment, and then let go of his arm. "Alright, alright~" She replied cheerfully, " Only since you asked though." Lia worked on undoing the braided updo her hair was in, and swiveled around when she heard a shrill call. "Oh hey, yeah, you're right---" Her words cut off for a moment, when she thought she heard what sounded like circus music at this upper crust event but...no. That didn't make sense. Brows knitted for a moment before she resumed mussing up her hair, tanned fingers buried in it. "Hey Nora! Baby Mason!" She called with a grin. "Isn't tonight just full of surprises. What did you have to do to pull Mason away from his studies to come to this, huh?"

Haven Sinclair
Haven snorted and rolled her eyes at Peter’s comment about the Olympics, but didn’t otherwise respond. She wasn’t feeling all that great about her chances these days. It was better to keep quiet about it, though. It wasn’t like Peter really understood. He was just saying things to be nice or… whatever. Because he was Peter and that was his whole thing. Be nice, and occasionally act obnoxious.
She was seconds away from agreeing to join Peter on his way to food when her interest was piqued by a strange song. It seemed completely out of place given the sophisticated party. She turned to Peter with a look of confusion on her face, seconds away from mentioning it, when she shook her head and shrugged it off. Whoever was responsible for the music must have weird tastes. Or maybe she was overthinking it. It didn’t seem so weird when she considered the decorations.
Eventually, after a pause that might have seemed unnecessarily long, Haven said, “Yeah, let’s grab something to eat. I’m starving.”
She began heading for the food in question, her confusion quickly melting away the further into the venue she went. “Are you still busy with your research?”_____________________ Paris Gallo
“You’re no fun, Pooh Bear,” Paris complained good naturedly.
She was in a good mood, so the prospect of this party turning into a disaster didn’t concern her as much as it usually would. She decided to attend expecting that it would all fall apart. That was life in Destiny City. She could either continue to b***h and moan about it, or find some way to be amused by it all — at least when the outcome wasn’t terrible. Her last foray into the madness hadn’t ended too horribly. But then she’d been through enough of it at this point that some things no longer fazed her.
Pairs paused when her ears picked up what sounded like a low growl, like that issued by a tiger. She glanced at one of the tiger statues, expecting the sound might have come from one of them. Maybe they issued sound effects for authenticity or something. Or there could always be a live one in a cage somewhere. Given the décor, she wouldn’t be surprised.
She turned back to Chris with a sweet smile, staring up at him through her lashes. “Come oooon,” she needled him. “You can bet nothing’ll happen if you want. If I’m right, I get to pick what we do on our next date, and if you’re right, you get to pick. Or we can wager something else…” she trailed off, smile twitching into a suggestive smirk.

Mason and Nora
Nora bounded right up to the lioness, looking her over and staring at her hair. "You're not gonna get it out without some of this hun!" Nora, who had a purse attached at her hip, pulled out some products for Lia. "I can see you pulling, do you need help? Hello Dimitri! You look handsome tonight. But I bet all the ladies tell you that!"
Mason adjusted his glasses as he came over and walked to the new group, his girlfriend fawning over the giantess.
cool. It was fine.
"Didn't know you guys were into high school prom." Mason sarcastically said, tilting his head at the affair. "Where is the arts and music? I thought it'd be more...." He didn't want to say high end, but he was expecting galleries and an orchestra....
"Or is there more?"

Sachio SugiyamaSachio hadn't seen her as she approached, but as soon as he heard her say her name, he knew who it was and turned around to face her. He was about to greet her when he noticed what she was wearing and couldn't help but blush. It was different from what everyone else was wearing and it suited her very well. "EunKyung..." He said. He was surprised to see her here at least. Though he should have guessed that another senshi would be here besides him. He was sure that there were others, but hadn't yet seen them in their civilian forms. "I'm sorry, I didn't expect for you to be here. I would have invited you otherwise... I mean I'm glad to see you here." He said. Somehow he managed to trip over his words near her. It was something that he needed to fix. He held his hand out to her. "If you want, we can explore this place together and be on the lookout for any danger?" After all, they were both probably here because they knew about the weird stuff happening with events such as this. "And you look beautiful." He said, giving her a smile. And she really did. Even if it wasn't some evening dress, he liked how different it was.

Jason McClayre
It really did take Jason some time to fight his way through the crowd at the bar. Seemed like everyone and their mother wanted to drink at this thing. Maybe that meant the entertainment wouldn't be as nice as he had hoped. Either way, he eventually came out of it with a glass of white wine in his hand.
Just as he was leaving he heard the sound of a low growl. It had him turning around, rather quickly, to see what was there. But, that was normal for an event like this right? It could have been in the music as well. When he didn't see anything dangerous, other then a few people who maybe had a drink too many already, he spun back around to look for his pals again.
As he made his way through he spotted a very familiar curly head. "Rho!" If he had known she was here he would have grabbed her something while he was at the bar. Oh well, he'd venture over there again if she wanted something. "I think they have tigers here somewhere, I heard the craziest noise at the bar." He planted a kiss right on Rhona's cheek. "And no, I did not have a drink at the bar already. I really did hear something crazy." Though he did take a nice sip of the Moscato in his hand now.

Gabriel Sūn
Gabriel had broken away from Xi-Wang just a bit to pick up some sort of food on a toothpick. He popped it into his mouth just as he heard someone calling out his new friend's name. He hadn't been expecting anyone else to show up, but he supposed that was the delight of social events. You never knew who would come out to play. He discarded the toothpick in a little bin.
He was a little caught off guard when Xi-Wang pulled him a little closer. Though, he simply put a smile on his face as Rhona introduced herself. With his free hand he reached out to shake her hand.
"Gabriel, but you can call me Gab if you prefer. It's a pleasure to meet you Rhona. Jason and Xi-Wang have nothing but goo things to say about you." He knew that eventually he'd get a chance to meet her, he just didn't expect it to happen tonight. And then, the music took a rather strange turn for a second. Not a choice he would make, but hey, he didn't know anything about music.
Next thing he knew Jason was back, it seemed like everyone in his court (that he knew) was rather affectionate with each other. And he was talking about tigers? He was about to say something about him maybe having had too much to drink already, but it seemed like Jason had already thought of that. So he merely shrugged and laughed it off a bit. In a party like this anything could happen. It was probably just someone's cell phone.

Lori Croix
Lori had been looking forward to the event since the invitation appeared in the mailbox. Sadly, she knew Landry wouldn't want to attend with her so she had been on the lookout for some company. When things got a little heated one night between Cambersite and herself, she thought of the most perfect way to get some revenge and a date. Two birds, one stone. There was a very playful smirk on her face as they passed through the doors and into the scene.
"Oh, come on. You don't look half bad all dressed up and you look even better with me on your arm." She had dressed herself up in a light pink, and red short gown. She didn't like wearing long dresses if she planned on dancing, which she probably would do at some point even if it required teaching Nolan what to do on the spot. Her hair was down, though curled neatly rather that her usual messy waves. She did avoid heels for this event, not wanting to end up being taller than Nolan.
"I'm sure there is some fun for your taste around here. We could go grab some food. Look around a bit, but I am getting on the dance floor at some point." At least she was being kind enough to give him some options for now. Though, the music did take a rather odd turn for a second. Hopefully that didn't set the tone for the whole evening.

"It's ok. My cousins are busy..and with an event like this - in this city. I thought it might be a good idea if I came." Even if she was only a basic senshi - she could help! If something happened, she just didn't trust this to be such a simple event. "I saw a lot on the news lately also..."
Taking the offered hand she nodded her head a few times, curls falling gently over her shoulders. "I'd like that. I think it would be nice if we stuck together." For various reasons, of course, it wasn't just because of the possible danger here.
"Thanks...a few people were giving me odd looks when I came in. I just...I don't like such dresses - too formal and old for me." They were suited for someone older, more mature, than she was. Not to say she wasn't mature in personality, at times, but she figured he'd understand what she meant. She hoped so anyway.
Just as she made to take a step, heading to find food and explore with Sachio, she heard something very odd, at least for a moment it was odd. The music didn't seem to fit right...but then it did - of course it did.

Suri Ellis
With deadlines approaching, Suri didn’t put much stock in some cookie cutter invitation for a free mixer downtown. She had better things to be doing, like recalibrating the prototype for her device or keeping her subordinates in line. Still, when one Trey Cameron approached her about joining him for the evening, she had to think twice before turning him down, mostly because he teased and browbeat her until she saw the chance to kill two birds with one stone. Her mother had been pestering her for something to show for herself, since she’d just turned 30 and had no husband, no children, and no PhDs. Her conscience had been nagging her about Trey’s recruitment since she’d watched Chase become Labyrinthite and tear him into Negaspace to become some senshi under his wing. Perhaps this would be the chance she needed to reconnect, check in on the boy she’d left to sink or swim, and maybe get a few photos so she could pretend like she had a social life, like she did something other than research. They’d bickered about it, but eventually Suri hemmed and hawed her way to an apprehensive yes, just for a few hours.
The caveat, of course, was that Trey insist on helping her choose the dress. Her counter-caveat was that the shoes could be no taller than two inches and had to be sturdy, as she was technically recovering from a dislocated knee. When he’d shown up at her door with something form-fitting and sleeveless, she almost shut the door on him, but she bit her lip and glowered and let him in all the same, letting him nitpick and prod her appearance until it was something Suri deemed acceptable.
“You owe me for this,” Suri muttered, leaning close to be heard over the circus music that trilled over their heads as they arrived. Wrapped up in all sorts of shapewear and a dress cut to leave little of her silhouette to the imagination, she had to take even shorter steps than usual to keep herself balanced, and she hated the idea that her movement could possibly be any more restricted than it already was. Still, with silky black fabric covering up the cut of her prosthetic, she certainly looked the part of surly but sultry, even if she still felt like an imposter among the rest of the glittering crowd. She supposed she should have felt more confident with a beautiful man at her side, but it was still difficult to look at Trey and not see the shy pre-teen she’d known over a decade ago.
Suri sighed and tried to relax her shoulders, since he’d put them so prominently on display. “I’m going to get a drink,” she decided, starting to walk for the bar line, “Would you like something?”

Trey CameronThe young man stepped into the party with confidence and an ease that said he'd done this before, many times. Rather than traditional black, his suit was midnight blue; an indulgence, as it went well with his hair and complexion. Traditional, but cut and tailored within an inch of it's life to fit his lean form.
"See? This isn't so bad. Better than that stuffy office of yours." He said to his shorter companion, ignoring her comment and giving Suri a look from the corner of his eyes. The stark lines of the suit were mirrored in his hair tonight too, the waist-length mass slicked back and wrapped up into a bun at the base of his skull. It made his face look sharp that way, but he felt it fit with the look of everything. There might have even been highlighter beside his eyes, just to really emphasize his cheekbones.
"And you look..." He paused as he gave her another once over, for real this time, putting on a smooth, pleasant mask before he gave away his real thoughts. "Perfect. As I said you would. I told you this dress would be better than slacks."
The decorations about them were a bit... circus for his taste, but not unpleasant when he turned his eyes back to them. His 'date' took the opportunity to take off with out him and a surprised look managed to squeak past the mask before he stepped to follow her, smoothing a hand down his chest. "A drink sounds good. Whiskey, if you please."
It was easy enough to catch up to her with is long legs and he shortened his stride to match hers, relaxing again. "Have you seen anyone we know yet?"

Ella Barnett
Between class and her internship (with super secret spy duties), Ella was finding all of her free time gobbled up lately by stupid things like homework and responsibilities and adulting. She almost never saw the roommates in her shared apartment near campus--it was like she didn’t even know them! When one of the vague trio of faces asked if she’d like to go to some...fancy thing, Ella didn’t have a reason to say no, so she said yes, if for no other reason than to try and diversify her Destiny City experience. She was in a big city now, so she was supposed to see the sights and go to parties, right? Live that young twenties wild and crazy experience she saw on TV and in movies? And it was just the right occasion to dust off the dress she was supposed to wear to prom, if she’d wanted to go to prom.
(If she’d found a date for prom that didn’t sound like some pity invite. Ella wasn’t going to be someone else’s sad facebook story.)
She’d Ubered over with the gaggle of her roommates, sometimes offering a sly comment or two between texting away at her phone. One of them had been generous enough to put some product in her hair and give it some kind of shine, show her how to pencil in her eyebrows (“sisters, not twins,” she’d said), and when she picked at herself from the mirror of her front-facing camera, she decided that she looked pretty cute.
She lifted her phone above her for a selfie and paused, thinking about sending it to Reid so the frump could see the kind of fun he was missing--but at the last moment she faltered and just threw it on snapchat instead, where she knew he’d never see it. What if he hated her hair? What if he said she looked like a cabbage, or a stork?
Ella tried not to think about it too much--when the four girls arrived, the others all dispersed to their friend groups, leaving Ella feeling more than a little exposed on the dance floor in her tiered bubble dress and high heels that made her feel dizzy. The sound of a roar made her turn her head, and when she saw a familiar peachy-pink head she made a beeline for Emilia, managing most of a smile instead of her usual half-assed grin. “Emmy, I didn’t know you were going to this thing,” she called out with a quick little wave--and then she looked over to her coworker’s chatting buddy, glancing over his bold fashion choices with a close-lipped smile.
“Oh hey, you’re the...you look so familiar, are you internet famous?” Ella asked, tilting her head. Had he been at the bottle thing? Maybe she'd seen him there, too--but Ella was pretty sure she'd seen his face before on a screen. She shuffled her way into their part of the line as casually as if she’d already been there--true, she wasn’t 21, but it didn’t look like anyone was carding and she wanted to know what champagne tasted like, especially if it was being served next to tigers.
And then it struck her where she had seen him, in grainy recordings with a smidge more eyeliner and a lot more strobe light. "Wait--are you Malaise?"
