Character: Raliegh
Current Square: 2 to 1
Response: Raleigh's trepidation didn't subside as he walked further into the pine Forrest. He was becoming aware of just how the same everything looked. He wasn't a trained survivalist or some sort of nature professor. Sure he had read a lot of books as was custom for the head librarian. He had a lot of useless knowledge. A lot of good it did him to be able to name the scientific names for all of the things he saw around him when he was deep in the woods alone. "Don't syke yourself out now old boy, you're doing this for a good cause. You are going to find the professor, or... at least find a clue of where they might be... right? Right."

The area he searched currently didn't do anything to ease his wariness, it seemed quieter, perhaps this was just an echo of how he felt. He hadn't meant to get this deep in the woods by himself. He had every intention of forming a search party, hopefully, one with people that knew what they were doing and how to not get lost in the forest. Somehow he had wandered away from the group into the eerily quiet woods where everything looked the same, and even the animals ceased to make noises. "Well you can't stop now, just try to continue in the same direction then you can always turn around and head back." He Once again pulled out his notebook and made a little X where he was and a line to where he at least hoped he was going. How much control did he have really? How many times had he seen the same tree, walked the same path? At this point, he really didn't know.

Character Name: Amity
Current Square: 8 (escape attempt 3) >> 13
RP Response:

Amity finally grasped onto a stronger root, gasping for air when she stopped sliding, and scrambled to climb back up. It seemed as though the branches were much easier to find now, or at least her hands grabbed for purchase as she pulled her way up. She tumbled over the edge of the chasm back where she had started, and flopped back, sucking in air and just being grateful that she hadn't died in the process.

Amity sat herself up after a few minutes, still shaken from the slide, and tugged her bag off to check and make sure everything was still in place. She got up hesitantly, scooting back further from the edge of the chasm before putting her backpack back on, and looked up and down either direction of the chasm. "There's gotta be a safer way to cross..."

Resolving to move further into the forest, she picked a direction and carried on, keeping a little further clear of the edge of the chasm after her last little slide.

Character: Amarith
Current Square: 15
Response: Amarith let out a startled squeak of surprise and floundered momentarily as she lost her balance. Ohh, this was bad. "Help!" She called. "Can someone help?!" But no voices answered her. It seemed in spite of her earlier confidence, people could indeed be too far away. She would just have to save herself.

Character: Amarith
Current Square: 15 to 20(escape attempt 2)
Response: Amarith was already starting to panic, not good. She forced herself to pause and take deep breaths to keep from hyperventilating before she resumed movement, trying to turn around to find the edge of where she fell in so she could pull herself back out. She prayed her boots didn't get pulled off, but she was sure they were laced tightly, even though now thoroughly waterlogged.

Pulling herself free but disoriented, Amarith moved deeper into the forest instead of back the way she'd come, hoping to find a place she could sit and change out of her soaked clothes.

Character: Troy
Current Square: 14 (escape attempt 1) (escaped, moving to 19)
Response: It was a relief that it seemed Oiche wasn't hurt or anything and others that were coming down their path were actually making it out, as well. Ok....maybe this wouldn't be a total disaster after all. Well, someone with a twisted sense of humor must have been listening because no sooner had they moved away from the bog than that thunderous crack sounded and suddenly he was on the ground with something heavy on top of him, his vision blocked by dirt and pine needles. Ok....that hurt. Time to get out.

Fingers dug into the dirt and he brought up his legs to get a footing on the ground, pulling and pushing at the same time to move his body out from under the fallen tree. Surprisingly enough, the lower half of his body being slick from the peat muck was helping as it made him somewhat slick and the tree bark wasn't digging into him as much. It took some effort but he managed to pull himself out, his tail the last to come as Oiche came to check if he was ok. "Yeah......yeah, I'm ok....geeze…" He said breathlessly, looking back at the tree that dared to fall on them as he got himself to stand. "That was...very oddly timed. You would have thought the forest heard us and decided to mess with us a little." His words sounded calm but inside he was...not happy. Time to breathe and calm down.

Character: Cian
Current Square: 9 to 8
Response: The trail kept going on, gently swaying and bending around trunks and denser underbrush that served as an obstacle. The path of least resistance. Certainly made his going a lot easier, something Cian didn't object to in the slightest. However, he did feel a hair more exposed. Now and then his ears would flick and twitch. Rustling of leaves and groan of branches in even the slightest breeze up high. Echos of voices from ahead or behind him had his head tilting slightly this way and that, trying to better judge the proximity.

His brow furrowed. Were those... shouts?

The trial before him was recently walked, that much he could easily see. Fresh tracks that he willingly assumed belonged to someone from this expedition. Not adverse to the company--and extra eyes out there--he picked up his pace, paws and claws digging into the sod beneath him.

The tracks collected in a spot, and he frowned, still marking trees with his large claws and keeping an eye on the ground before him. Gathered at a point in the trail, and then continued on. Recent. He sniffed the air, and caught the scent of a baphomet. Again, he felt it safe to assume it was one from the group he was out there with in the first place.

"Hello?" His deeper voice broke through the forest. Still he followed the path--and the tracks, and the scent--hoping to catch up to the other individual soon. Namely, see if someone else might have spotted anything he missed.

Character: Oiche
Current Square: still on 19
Response:
Luckily Troy managed to get out unharmed too, so Oiche should probably actually check herself over. Her litch blood made it really hard for her to feel pain, so she wasn’t always sure the extent of how hurt she was. It caused a small smile to cross her face, as she remembered when she was little and had skinned her knee and went off to go play on the monkey bars again. Her dad totally freaked out when he came over to check her out and she was bleeding all over the place.

“I’m glad, that tree was pretty sudden
” Oiche replied and frowned. “It was oddly timed, and a bit weird. I can’t see any reason for the tree to just have fallen like that, then again I haven’t studied forestry yet.” She admitted. Maybe she could take that as an elective when she got back, because she was eventually going to go home. There was just no other alternative she would accept. Now she just needed to get there in one piece “Well its official now. It’s a horror movie. I refuse to scream though.”

      Prompt for Square 1

After travelling through the increasingly dense wood, you step out into a picturesque sunny glade. As a gust of wind rattles a pine needles, you hear a disgruntled warble come from overhead. Perched on one of the lower branches, a gryftoo wobbles uncertainly back and forth in the breeze.

Climb the tree to retrieve the hapless creature!

There will be an art drop later today!

      Prompt for Square 8

You wind your way through the trees and atop a mossy ridge. A narrow chasm where a creek must have once flowed sprawls beneath you. There is no easy path to the other side. Suddenly, the earth gives way below your feet, and you find yourself caught in a landslide.

Roll 1d6 to escape. On a roll of 5+ you succeed, and may move again.

You may roll 3 times to attempt to escape this square. Each attempt must be accompanied by at least 50 words of RP. If you do not escape by the end of the day, something may happen...

      Prompt for Square 13

There is a sudden rustle in the trees above you. The canopy bursts with shrieking birds, rushing into the distance with great speed. Something heavy lands on a branch above you - a giant bird, with a long, lush tail. It stares at you with a piercing gaze but as you go to leave, it starts to follow you, gliding from branch to branch.

The canopy cover is so thick here, you can scarcely make out the details of the forest floor. It's no surprise then, that you miss the slender slip of rope that secures around your ankle and yanks you off your feet. As you swing back and forth, feet facing the sky, a fennekit prowls out from the brush to investigate.

Roll 1d8 to escape. On a roll of 7+ you succeed, and may move again.

You may roll 3 times to attempt to escape this square. Each attempt must be accompanied by at least 50 words of RP. If you do not escape by the end of the day, something may happen...

A ramshackle bridge stretches out over a shady, gurgling bog. Despite its shoddy appearance, it seems to support your weight. Halfway across however, the bridge shifts beneath you with a crunch. Then the whole thing erupts in a burst of flames.

Roll 1d6 to escape. On a roll of 5+ you succeed, and may move again.

Character: Oiche
Current Square: still on 19 (escape attempt 1) (escaped now on 24)
Response:
As they continued on the forest suddenly became a lot more closed in. It was definite that they were in the more thick area one could make out barely from their entry point. Visibilty would have normally been bad but as a hallow with eye mutations and a citizen from below, less light worked for her. Or so she thought. Suddenly the ground and sky seemed to change places.

Okay that was bloody it. Who in the fudging nine, put out a rope trap in the middle of…. Oiche trailed off and just kind of sat there with her arms crossed as she swung back and forth from the momentum of being hauled up in the air. Wait was that blasted fennekit laughing at her?

Okay lady like thoughts. It was proven that just as long as she didn’t panic and loose her cool she could think her way out of this. Plus she already had a plan to punch Dr. Horn in the face. Yep that would get her through this. She would just laugh about it all later when she was home again. So she looked at the rope and sighed. There was no way to get to a knife but luckily she was born with miniature knives on her fingers so she began sawing through the rope. Eventually she won out and flipped downwards to land on her feet.

So now the question was… why did someone had a rope trap out? Did the forest cause the researchers and hired help to lose their senses. She could definitely see people giving way to panic, but… what did they think the rope trap was there to trap? Hmm something to ponder later.

“can I grab a knife or something for you?”
Oiche called out trying to help again. One of the fennikits from earlier ran around her feet before flopping on them. Uh… was she about to go through this forest with a new familiar?

Character Name: Amity
Current Square: 13 to 18
RP Response:

Amity froze in her tracks for two reasons. She turned back with a frown, squinting a little in the direction she'd come in. She thought she'd heard someone call to her, but maybe she was going crazy... Amity turned back to continue in her original direction, shifting the weight of her bag on her back, just in time to hear the rustling in the trees.

Amity looked up sharply, and yelped as the giant bird rushed towards Amity, pulling up at the last minute to land on a branch to her left. She straightened up slowly, staring at the bird cautiously and starting to move backwards. "Eeeeasy big guy..." She said slowly, holding up her hands. "Just gonna... keep going this way, okay?" She started to walk away, keeping her front facing towards the bird as she moved. The familiar watched her, cocking its head to the side curiously, and kicked off the branch, gliding towards her.

Amity yelped as she ducked down, only to see the bird land on a branch a few feet in front of her. "... I don't-- you're not coming with me." She squinted at the bird. "Stay." She pointed at the branch, and walked past the bird (still a little cautiously), to carry on in her original direction.

The bird, having no respect for Amity's opinion, kicked off the branch and glided after her, landing on one ahead again. Amity eyed the bird with a sigh, and nodded. "Yeah, alright. But you better not get me lost." She pointed at the bird as she went back, bringing her finger back quickly when it tried to n** at her. "Easy! Jeez." This was not what she had in mind when she joined the search party. Would it even fit in the carriage with everyone else? Space was already cramped!

Character: Cian
Current Square: 8 to 13 (escape attempt 1 success)
Response: Cian continued to follow the tracks and baphomet's scent. Now and then he would pause, tail flicking slightly behind him as he sniffed the air and listened for any corroborating sounds if he was perhaps getting close. He... was sure he could hear a commotion somewhere ahead of him, which was disconcerting to say the least. Never mind the fact they were there to recover people already lost, if those on this trek weren't entirely skilled with hiking in the wilderness--he'd first question why they came but that was beside the point--there was certainly room for... mistakes.

Such as his own rather spectacular one.

Cian was being cautious of where he was stepping. He was being aware of his footing, and the area around him. He could see the narrow--and relatively deep-chasm just beyond the mossy ridge. He could see the clear signs of where a creek once had flowed. Meant for a likelihood that the ground was unstable due to the water having eroded so much away. It was logical. It was simple.

And he still misstepped.

A grunt was the only sound his training allowed him to make as the weakened earth fell away beneath his feet. His saving grace in this moment, as he slid and tumbled among a landslide, were his immense claws. They dug into the soil till they found a more solid purchase, hands and feet clinging to the crumbling side of the chasm. Gritting his teeth, he managed to pull himself out bit by bit, his leathers and armor along his back caked in a fair layer of dirt. Not to mention his tail and the back of his head. He shook himself of debris as much as he could and... well. Took him a moment to relocate the tracks and scent--and confirming the person he trailed didn't get hurt there, so far as he could tell--but once he did, he set off at a far quicker pace.

Character: Max
Current Square: 20 to
Response: Max looked at the rickidey looking bridge and he frowned he didn't think it would hold his weight but there didn't look like there was another choice except for backtracking and he didn't want to do that with how far he had already come. Trying to walk through the bog seemed like a really bad idea after getting almost stuck not long ago. He slowly walked onto the bridge and didn't fall through so that was good. He walked forward a little more and then heard a crunch and suddenly he was surrounded by fire and he was shocked what the heck had caused the bridge to lite on fire? He looked around for a way out of this mess, there had to be a way to get out of here and get to another area so he could get back to searching. The smoke from the flames was heavy in the area and he coughed and covered his mouth with his hands his long ears swinging around his shoulders as he moved looking for a way to get off the burning bridge. He rushed forward trying to see through the smoke then he thought and got down low to the ground so he could find his way off the burning bridge before he was a burnt dead hallowed. He didn't want to be in a graveyard at his age he had a lot more skateboarding he wanted to do before he kicked the bucket. This was so not his time.

He covered his mouth with his large ears to try to keep more smoke away from his face.
