Delilah Samson

Delilah was delighted.

For one, Jade was holding her hand, and it wasn't just in that, 'I need to hold your hand so I can drag you around the place' kind of hand hold, it was that friendly way, with their fingers knit together, in the way that friends held hands. (In the way that people in relationships held hands, too, generally in the way that people who were close held hands, and that was exciting to Delilah, the idea that Jade felt like she was close to her, maybe; was Delilah actually making connections?)

For another, this 'exhibition hall' thing was huge! Okay, it wasn't that huge, but so far as Delilah knew, she had never been to a convention. Nothing about it rang any bells, and this was probably the most people she had seen in one room since her new life began.

And there were so many things to look at--

"Hm?"

Delilah came out of her delighted thoughts to glance up to the woman next to her, then glancing back to everything around them. She was supposed to decide what they were going to look at? But there was so much. How could Delilah even make a decision? It looked like there were some artists, some game places, some people selling food and crafts and what on earth were those strange dolls over--

"I don't know," confessed Delilah, biting down on her lip. "There's so much! Maybe we should get some food?"

Izume Sato-Himura

Stopping up short at the menus Izzy tipped her head back to read over the various food available to them as well and nodded at the other girl's observation that the Asian stuff was indeed Japanese. Well, some of it. She saw the Pho as well, and there was also few very popular Chinese take-out style dishes. Izzy wrinkled her nose at those. They didn't taste bad, but they really weren't anywhere close to authentic.

"Alright, that sounds good." A little of many things was a great idea when the goal was to try everything they possibly could. Not healthy, but hopefully tasty, and that was really all they could hope for at this sort of convention. I'll met you over there in a few minutes, then."

Her grip on Lovi loosened as they prepared to split up to tackle the issue of food with a divide and conquer sort of technique, fingers sliding down the length of her arm in a lingering sort of way she didn't even realize she'd done until she was standing in like at the kiosk with the Japanese style food. s**t. What the hell is wrong with me. Why am I such a clingy weirdo around her?

She fussed about it until she'd made it to the front of the line but had to shove the worries aside as she ordered. They also had a sampler platter, and it had those little octopus balls Lovi had mentioned wanting, but Izzy got an extra order of those as well, just in case. California roll, shrimp nigiri, edamame, and Takoyaki. She also ordered a medium 7UP, because it seemed like for the most part everyone liked lemonlime stuff alright.

Tray in hand, she headed off to locate Lovi at the designated meeting place.

Imagi was the first to sweep in. Silently taking her place beside her brother, she brushed his arm with hers, a wordless greeting, and smiled gently at him. Without Aura here gawking at her with her big cow eyes, Imagi felt much more herself. Breathing came easier. She smiled. As people began to file over to the stall, Imagi glanced at her brother again and cleared her throat.

"I don't think I expected to be this busy this early in the day," she finally muttered, still smiling up at him. "Not with the gaming pavilion to compete with. I'm glad. It means people still care about small business.

Alphonse was happy for Imagi’s wordless greeting. It was just like her. So strange, yet so normal for her.

Nothing like what he had overheard that night.

He had already started packing his things to go back to Sovereign Heights when he heard it all the way in his old room which was the farthest in the entire apartment and store complex the St. Grey family called a home. He’d never in all his life heard Imagi speak that loudly. Half the time, it was had to hear her at all over his parents and, especially, Aura.

What had been wrong? Something had happened. Something had clearly been happening for awhile now. But what?

It was so hard to find just a moment with his sister alone to even attempt the subject. Aura was always around. Even more so now. But, here he was, without anyone else around if you didn’t count customers.

He had to try at least. Even if it was just to warm her up to the very idea of talking.

”It’s been quite busy here. So many people. I could barely keep up, but you’re here now.” She seemed so calm and like herself now. Should he really ruin that now?

"My apologies, Mory," Banks replied tactfully, leaving out the tempting comment of how her opportunistic ways were also currently illegal and questionable - that was neither here nor there as the teenager clearly understood the depths of her transgressions, judging by her reaction at being caught.

Russian was exchanged between the two of them and Robert did his best not to grow cross at the fact they were clearly talking amongst themselves in a completely different language for the purposeful need of excluding him out of the conversation. She was his kid, he was her guardian - yes, they needed to have private time to address things but that was private time and not done directly in front of their friends.

The cat was brought back into discussion (unless it never left during the transition to Russian) and the lawyer was in the middle of shifting to gauge his companion's response when the feline in question suddenly jumped onto Kavinsky himself. Rob took a step away to avoid being smacked in the face with the long tail, the sight by itself ridiculous - stoic Kavinsky with a furry companion gracing him like a boa?

Now he'd seen almost everything.

Mory's invitation crooked a brow. Her intentions behind inviting him were still under suspicion - was she using him as a distraction device and away from the pussycat? But still, if it meant company for dinner among the two -- err, three -- of them...

"Making us accomplices by using your questionably obtained money on us?" He mused allowed, making a pointed tease at her current predicament. "I'm feeling risky tonight, count me in. Easier than laundering the money, right? Unless your caretaker had other plans for dinner - I don't want to interfere, of course."

The Exhibition Hall was the liveliest, filled with all the vendors and food and artists which of course attracted most of the attention of the people not there for the game or one of the panelists.

There went someone with a croissant shoved into their mouth while they scampered by with an armful of conswag before they'd stopped at another table and inevitably found something else to purchase.

Then someone else milled around empty handed, except from the soda cup from the pizza cart, greasy fingers leaving marks on the otherwise whiteness of the paper cup.

People continued to mill about either in a hurry because time was running out or in slow leisurely strides because they were more of an 'experience' person. Either way, the convention was winding down and things were slowly starting to be disassembled and swept up.

((OOC: The convention has officially 'ended'! Please play as if things have winded down and your character is taking their leave. They may mill around, but will eventually be shooed out by the event staff

You may consider this your fin for this overarching thread or you may take your exits at your leisure.

Please remember it counts as one regular for requirements.

Thanks!!))

Jade Argent

At some point Jade had stopped moving, just enough out of the typical flow of coming or going that they weren't getting so jostled by everything. Her heartbeat a little too fast, a mix of excitement and worry and memory of what happened the last time she'd been at something so big, so crowded.

For a split second, Jade felt light-headed, because she'd forgotten how to breathe but Delilah's soft voice seemed to kick-start her basic functions and instead of everything fading out into a fuzziness, it snapped back into sharp reality.

"Food is good," the older woman agreed, blue eyes squinting as she tried to remember where all of the food vendors would be located. Once she felt confident enough, she led Delilah in the direction of where she thought they might be and then stilled once again, a slight constricting in her lungs that made her feel dizzy.

"You know..." She stopped, chewed on her lip and decided to weigh the pros and cons of what it might mean if Jade skipped out before everything officially ended but she sorta felt like she couldn't breathe and she needed a little more space. "There's this really great, small hole-in-the-wall diner not to far from here, we deserve a break from the crowd and people yeah?"

It was phrased as a question, but it was pretty clear that was what Jade wanted to do instead. "Let's get food there instead," she suggested, starting to tug Delilah towards an exit.

Delilah Samson

Was Jade alright?

Delilah had lived with Jade for more than a month now, stuck to her almost like glue in these initial stages. Something about the other woman continued to seem off in a way she couldn't quite pin down. Was she nervous? The panel had went fine, and she was fairly sure Jade had seemed quite relieved when Delilah had told her as much. It made Delilah feel lighter, happier. But now she wasn't moving and--

Food is good.

Oh, good. Delilah grinned, nodding her head in agreement as she let Jade lead her towards the location of the food. She admittedly hadn't eaten much of anything today and she was fairly sure the more she thought about it, the angrier her stomach got. Maybe there would be something cheesy over there. Delilah was pretty sure she loved cheese. She'd even eat just nacho cheese.

And then Jade stopped again.

Delilah tilted her head, letting out a curious, concerned, "Mm?"

It seemed Jade didn't want any of this convention food after all, which in some ways was disappointing, but in most ways it wasn't because Jade was offering to take Delilah somewhere else she hadn't been before and new experiences with almost universally exciting for her (and nerve-wracking, but that stage was starting to fade a little bit, but only a bit at the same time--). A small hole-in-the-wall diner sounded like it would be an interesting place to go too. So far as she knew, she had never been there, after all -- and plus, maybe they'd have something cheesy.

And double plus, Jade was taking her.

She really was making friends, wasn't she?

Delilah darted after the tug, saying a, "Sounds like fun!" as they left.

Kavinsky

Kavinsky looked very, very unamused at the cat who decided to crawl on his shoulder and press his face against his cheek. He was promptly met with fingers grabbing him by the scruff at the back of his neck to peel him off and was returned to Mory quickly. So quickly, in fact, that K didn't bother to make sure Mory was prepared for the cat hand off before he let go.

Cat's landed on their feet, Arthur would be fine.

"One night," he stated firmly, in a tone that said they'd be having a talk later. They couldn't afford another pet deposit or pet fee and he wasn't about to force Ellis to live with another cat, regardless of how Invy came and went, especially considering he'd adopted a kid without really getting any feedback from his best friend and roommate.

"I'm allowing it this one time," he said with his typical scowl back on his face. "Let's go."

Now that everything was settled, he was keen on leaving to keep Mory from finding her way into more trouble.

Robert Banks

Detecting the irritation in the Russian's voice (or by the way he, y'know, dropped the cat without a second thought), Rob decided it was best for his own self preservation to remain quiet during the exchange.

As Kavinsky turned on his heels to walk away, the lawyer was resigned to follow, having nothing else to do and unaware of what the convention actually held as far as opportunities went for advertising.

Ah well.

Maybe dinner would help make up for the money he'd lost on the ticket into this place.
