In the corner of the garden, a young boy snored from his place sleeping on top of the back of a large white tiger with red stripes. Volkei and his family had arrived earlier in the night to get a look at the oddities that were promised to be inside the hive but the redblood had found himself tired from the ride over. It was not a pleasant rest without sorpor slime and he shifted and rubbed at his face from the brightmares that whispered in his dreams. His torment was cut short as Mio hopped onto his body and bit down on one of his arms to shock him awake. Not the most delicate waking method but that was fine.

"Thanks, Mio." He gave the cub an affectionate pat on the head, "Guess we better look around before everyone starts without us, huh?" A quick glance around the room told him that the military had already rolled into the place in full force. It was somewhat intimidating to a child like him but he figured they were here to keep the general public safe during this event. And if they couldn't, he knew his lusus, Roa, could.

Silvery fish glimmered in the light and he waved at them. He knew those lusii.

"Twinkletip, over here!" Volkei laughed and tried to check which fish had been the bumbling one he'd played with that night on the beach. They all looked alike though and he had no real way to communicate with them!

It wasn't the supernatural aspect that drew Kwelin to this case but rather the idea that it was more likely, in his eyes, that the cause of the recent disruptions was criminal activity. Not to mention, Philip's endless enthusiasm needed a watchful eye to guide it. He was always getting into trouble without a chaperone. The blueblood had to grudgingly admit some affection for the other boy and thus wanted to keep him safe.

"Ah, Avvisi, I should have expected you would come here looking for a story. Find anything good yet?" The place was a perfect setting for some sensationalism and tabloid journalism. He liked the tealblood plenty but her eagerness to latch on to a story, any story, had him thinking she was more interested in headlines that would grab a lot of views rather than deep investigative journalism like he preferred. Kwelin was a pretentious child in that aspect.

"Nice to meet you, Dalema, I am Kwelin Tourny." He introduced himself with a handshake and looked to Philip afterwards. Whoever the greenblood was, Philip hadn't mentioned her before. Which meant she was probably an acquaintance rather than a close friend like Tzofia.

"There are a lot of military officers here. It must be very dangerous. Philip, stay close to me and out of trouble." He gave the orangeblood an authoritative glare through his glasses, crossing his arms in a stern pose.

"Right?" Avvisi exclaimed to the greenblood girl. "This thing has got just everyone excited." She grinned as Dalema introduced herself, and extended her own prong to shake. "Avvisi Quills, reporter, maybe you've seen me on the ANB show, i run a short segment there." Avvisi tried not to puff her chest out too much, but dang was she proud of herself. "Humm," She said as Dalema announced her sleuth-hood. "Well please keep in contact with me. I do like to pull in trolls for interviews and the like, and having a detective on call would be quite wonderful." The tealblood said, hand on her chin as she considered the benefits of such a relationship.

Before she could get too far tho, some familiar faces popped in. "Philip!" Avvisi exclaimed as the hemoanon boy greeted them. "Oh you know it!" She said, flashing him a smile. She was ready to dive all the way in. She felt her smile become more genuine and herself relax. It was a wonder what being in good company could do. When Philip mimed taking out a camera, she blushed, but did sneak him a peek of her own old-school camera, the one that printed pictures out seconds after having them taken. Glamis was not going to knock her off this story. She refused!

"You two know each other?" She said with surprise. Really she shouldn't have been, investigators, right? "Well that makes introductions easy!" She said, flashing a smile. Her attention turned to the blueblood Kewlin, and she maneuvered herself so she was right next to the boy. "A pleasure to see you again, Kewlin, its been too long!" The tealblood said as she grasped the blueblood boy's hand and squeezed it. "Of course im here for a story. This one looks like a big one to boot." Kewlin always seemed to have this air of secrecy to him... To a girl on the unending quest for answers, this sort of thing intrigued her. "Its pretty obvious as to why Philip is here," She said, winking at the other boy, "But what brings you to a haunted house?"

Floren hadn't quite heard the other troll approaching- their voice drew him up from crouching over a particularly interesting plant to stare for a moment before breaking into a small smile. "Not particularly, no." He shook his head. The podling earned a more curious look from him - what an interesting little creature. This troll's lusus...? Before he could ask, another troll had approached and was looking over their shoulders. He had half a mind to tell them to mind their space, but he wasn't about to disrespect a purpleblood (or teal, for that matter) so easily.

"Oh, no. I was simply looking at the plants." He waved a hand at the unkempt yard absently. "Merely curious to see if anything worth more than just decor was growing." Floren shifted a little to face the other two a little better and brushed his hands together to knock off any dirt that may be on them. "Ah, I'm Floren, it's nice to meet you both. Are either of you particularly interested in ghosts?"

Everyone seemed to know each other- which was fine and all, but Mihail was starting to wish he'd pestered Knetic to come with him. He didn't want to eavesdrop too much on the officers that were in the group, but he was interested in what they were up to... if anything at all. For the time being he settled himself with being a silent observer, watching the other trolls in their gathering group meet up with friends and form their own mini-groups within the larger whole. It seemed most of them had a designated "leader" of the bunch- it made sense... friend groups tended to have at least one that took on the caretaker position...

Speaking of caretakers... Aligaa seemed to be on edge, ready to leave at any moment. He'd just... have to hope his lusus wouldn't do anything embarrassing.

      Captain Kursha Vidari

Something about being called “dearie” made the bile rise to his throat. It almost reminded him of a certain redblood, whose voice even now seemed to taunt him from the depths of his imagination... or from just fifteen meters away. Out of the corner of his eye, Kursha caught a glimpse of the she-devil posing for the cameras. He swallowed back all his rage, giving no indication of his ire but a barely perceptible curl of his lip, and returned his attention to Eridia.

“Oh? And if I gave you orders now?” His smile widened, as he eyed Eridia with the intensity of a howlbeast regarding a bloody steak. Fortunately Eridia was spared her choice of indignity by the interjection of a familiar blueblood. Kursha looked him over once, seeming to study his salute. After a moment he lifted an eyebrow. “Have we met?” he asked in a dry tone.

Frendo had tried to arrive at a decent and appropriate time, but there had been plants to water and Laughdads had needed a wash(they had rolled in something that was just downright offensive, even for Frendo's veteran sniffernode) and then he needed to drop off some letters he had agreed to deliver. It was supposed to be quick and easy and on the way, but the address he had written down was off by several blocks of hives, and he couldn't find the right hive for several minutes afterward.

Of course, he couldn't not visit for a bit with the friendly troll who had taken the letters once he finally arrived, and before Frendo knew it all his travel time was all but spent, and he hadn't even gotten out of NHC. He tried to pipe up about having to leave, the tealblood was still talking, and he couldn't be rude to such a lovely highblood(she had even tipped him for the delivery), so instead he picked as his fingernails and waiting for the perfect moment to interject and excuse himself.

Frendo held in his irritation as he said goodbye to the friendly tealblood, but as soon as he was out on the street, he couldn't help but tug at a strand of his hair and grumble to himself about how stupid he had been to get so distracted. Leftdad licked his cheek, and Rightdad huffed reassuringly, but the little orangeblood was already upset, and as they made their way to Civisect City, his anxiety built until he was crying like a wriggler on the train. He would have still been crying, but Laughdads made that problematic by taking their brisk walking pace to a full out run. If Frendo was so worried about them being late, they figured running would solve two problems at once. Let their little bundle of nerves run some of his frustration out.

So, while other trolls had already come and gotten settled outside the hive, Frendo and his shaggy, slobbering lusus showed up flushed and a little out of breath. Frendo's eyes were still bloodshot, but it was apparent physical exertion had tempered his stress for the time being. His cheeks were still slightly wet, but he scrubbed them dry before anyone would notice, and his toothy, casual smile quickly appeared on his face as he remembered what they were doing here. A spooky hive, full of mystery lies before them, which piqued the little dangerfiend's interest instantly, but it was the chance to once again be of use that pulled Frendo in. After helping with the space program, he had been eager for another opportunity to volunteer.

Of course, he couldn't help but stop to look at the overgrown garden as he came up into the group, and before Laughdads could stop him(not that they would, it was just a pointless effort, and they didn't fret as some guardians might), he plunged into the overgrowth. He ignored the grabby tendrils and sharp pricks of plants as he looked about and imagined having a garden such as this one day. Though perhaps not so full of thorns and weeds!

He continued to look about the plants, noting ones he recognized and many that were beyond his knowledge of plants, while Laughdads idly watched the older trolls closer to the hive, notedly deciding it best to keep an eye on things, so Frendo didn't miss out on important business. If the little orangeblood missed something else because of his distractions, it wouldn't be so easy to settle his frustration.

      Kerras Farron

As Floren introduced himself, Kerras pressed their palms to their side and entered a stiff bow. “Kerras Farron of Four Fronds, heir of the Grove Warden,” they said, with great solemnity. They dipped a little lower for the purpleblood to show proper respect. Their eyes never shied from contact. “It is an honour to meet you both.”

After allowing a beat, Kerras straightened. With introductions out of the way, the intensity that had possessed them before seemed to evaporate. “Isn't everyone?” they countered. As they spoke, their attention drifted back to the weeds, and they fingered a long stalk of grass idly. Or perhaps it was a wild onion. They resisted the urge to lean over and smell it.

“I've never seen one, and thought it sounded exciting. They must know all kinds of things. Oh!” The tealblood's attention snapped away to a dark patch below a carpet of ivy. They darted between the greenblood and the purpleblood, and came back a moment later with a wet and wrinkled toadstool. They offered it for the others to look at with fresh enthusiasm. “I wonder what it is...” they mused, more to themself. Then, a little bit louder, “Do you think plants can have ghosts?”

Fletch didn’t aloft and know much ‘bout the paranormal. Mind you, Fletch thought, he wasn’t exactly an expert on many things, really. Air-walking, maybe, but he still had plenty to learn. Though he was up and coming still, yeah!! Just gotta practice till ya drop, aint gonna stop, gonna get to the top! Oooh that was a ********’ sick beat. New practice tune? New practice tune. Humming as he tumbled and jumped down from his coon-level, he finished with a flourish and landed neatly. Pleased with his own performance, and his new practice tune, he chirped loudly to call ToothDad, and set off.

….he always forgot how BUSY Civisect was. Still, he was here for a purpose, and that bolstered his resolve. He made a beeline through the city, heading towards the abandoned hive. Fletch didn’t fear abandoned hives - after all, before he’d moved in his hive had been abandoned. Though he supposed it hadn’t been a hive, it’d been a watchtower, so there’d probably be no ghosts who were particularly attached to it. Unless there was like, an bloody soldier ghost around, that’d be pretty ********’ rad. Not that he’d ever had any paranormal activity in his hive, the only flipping ******** he’d had was his own mayhem.

Damn. It wasn’t much less of a hip happening here at the hive. Fletch grinned, facepaint accentuating his teeth and fins flaring. Man what a spectacular display of people, all kinds of them wandering about. He should up and talk to a brosis.

Yeah.
He’d do that in a minute.

Acteon rolled their eyes at the blueblood on their head, especially as Glamis made a face at him. "What, are you some kind of criminal? Kinda bold of you to come here then..." They crossed their arms and looked over at their lusus. He was watching, but bored. Steppy wasn't getting any attention, and the amount of stars here only made him itch more... pacing. Seeing their Stepdad on edge made them frown.

"Anyway, I told you," she said to Guo, pulling up his voice again. "I'm a talented wiggler to you! Or, you can call me Acteon, Ghost-punch Pyrero." They stuck their tongue out again, and turned to Mallo. "Hey, I gotta get away from here, bud. I'm gonna look over by the ruins and see if I can get a headstart on hearing some ghosts!"

With that, Acteon slipped away from under the blueblood using them as a pole, to walk closer to the hive itself. They needed to get away from Glamis, with all the people crowding around him. Too many voices, and though they tried to catalogue them all, it was getting overwhelming. Their talent worked best in small bits, when they really got to listen in. Glamis was popular, constantly crowded by military officials and other trolls, but he was interested in seeing what they could do with ghost voices!

User Image Static Charge

Static didn't miss a beat. Kursha was a high ranking officer, Static could understand not remembering every single troll that worked under the greenblood. "Static Charge, Sir." The blueblood said, relieved that the greenblood's terrifying stare was interrupted. "I worked under your command on the recon mission for the ship "The Spiteful Inconsiderateness Of the Empress"." Except... now he might very well be the next target of that intense stare. Well, too late to think about that now... The blueblood continued. "It will be an honor to work under you again, Sir."

Stemma nodded with the blueblood's answer, taking notes despite him only telling her to wait for his briefing for more information. Perhaps she needed to exercise a little more patience than she expected. But she couldn't help it! Everything was so exciting! A chance to study these evil ghosts trapped in purgatory, to help them put an end to their endless roaming of the mansion. It was all so very cool!

Itching to move and do something, the purpleblood's attention fell on a neatly dressed blueblood, stepping away from Glamis. With lively curiosity, they approached the blueblood and politely tapped them on the shoulder.

"Your hair is cute!" She said, wiggling back and forth on her feet. Stemma wished she could keep her hair styled like that, away from her eyes. One day Krampa would let her show them off.

Guo rolled his eyes and let the kid go. He didn't need to be heckled by a twerp, anyway. He opted to stuff his hands in his pockets and check out the current gathering. Wigglers...lots of wigglers...and lots of military. Shitty and boring. Where were the bro types when you need them? Did they all manage to miss the news?!

Scanning again, he caught sight of some face paint. And some fins. And a blood color that didn't match up with being a seadweller. Ah-ha. Finally, finally something he could work with. And maybe take his mind off of being under everyone's scrutiny for basically bullshit.

"Hey!" Guo called over to Fletch. "Broski! Over here! Where've you been, landshark?"

Sarcel had to admit that she was growing more please with the current turn out. The Sirens making their debut was noted with approval, although her sight momentarily hitched on Lorata as she remembered her promise to the seadweller. Something in the base of her skull felt like a budding headache.

That being said, it didn't take long for the civilians to begin mingling with the current cast of military officers; Scorpa had bounced away, Flydra was addressing their host and... Lorata seemed to be... under the inquiry of an autograph? Oh right, the movie. Speaking of, the sight of Odette was unusual and met with scrutiny, especially after having gone over her records nights before. If it wasn't for Glamis approaching this with utmost serious sincerity, she would've thought this whole night to be a publicity joke.

She let out a heavy sigh, apparently fed up with troll-watching.

Hemera snapped her out of her thoughts. "Ah, good evening." Unlike the rest of the noisy crew, she hadn't noticed the quiet tealblood's approach. "Isn't it ironic how we're all finding ourselves here again?" Sarcel asked in a moment of unusual remembrance, but shook her head of it. They were both a lot different now compared to that night.

"You actually showed up at a good time." Sarcel cleared her throat to gather some of the less... preoccupied trolls, "Coriol, come over here. Captain Vidari, Tsifer--" Her eyes fell on Static again, "Charge. A moment to interrupt your conversation?"

If it could be called that.

After waiting to make sure she either had their attention or didn't (she wasn't going to bother pestering anyone if they were going to be like that), she nudged them away to speak. "Glamis informed me when I arrived that the shirtless blueblood over there--" She didn't look with her eyes, but tipped her head in the general direction, "--apparently has a record for himself already. Something about a stint breaking into the Punishment Pits. Sequestered himself inside there for some length of time. I admit I have no details aside from what was just told to me." Sarcel had her eyes closed, a habit she was noticing when she was trying to recollect things. Still; why anyone would try to... barricade themselves up in there of all places was... bizarre. Then again, so were most things to Sarce.

"Regardless, he's requested that we take action if he impedes on the mission in any way." Her gaze flitted around, "Coriol? If you could tell the rest of your... friends when they're less busy, you'd be saving me from repeating myself. Any questions? Glamis should be briefing us on the rest of our operation momentarily." She looked across her compatriots.

There were a lot of trolls here, a lot of conversation to listen in on to get a feel for how things were going. Garand had determined that the major instructions on what they were going to be doing hadn't been given out yet, at least, and he was content to wait until that happened. The last thing he had expected, here in front of all these people, was a repeat of his first meeting with Scorpa. Caught completely off guard again, the blueblood went down with a clatter and a thud that was more shocking (and a bit humiliating) than it was painful.

Between Scorpa's voice and the incessant squeaking that was Pan asking not to be squeezed quite so tight, there was no doubt at all who the weight on his back belonged to. He took the moment to get a hand on his rifle, slip the strap off his shoulder so it could sit safely to the side, then moved his hands more comfortably to the ground for a push up from it. Once he had a knee up under himself, it was easier than ever to dislodge the yellowblood. Even so...

"You're still heavy," he accused as he turned and stood, scooping up his gun and shouldering it again. "And he can't breathe."

      Captain Kursha Vidari

The blueblood did not lose his composure. He kept cool, just like his blood color. Kursha had to admire that quality, especially considering the youth’s caste. The higher up they went, the more entitled they seemed to get. Case in point being the provocative, faux kiss-a** standing next to him.

At any rate, he remembered the corporal. Of course he did. The blueblood had an unobtrusive personality, a little meek, but he knew when to follow orders and when to take initiative. He had proven a useful asset on the ship they conquered, and in fact it had been one of the more successful missions. Still, he needed greater insight as to the blueblood’s character. He could not effectively use him, if he did not understand him.

The greenblood broke out into a grin. He clapped Static on the shoulder with a laugh. “I’m just playing with you, Sparks. You can relax. It was you, me, One-Punch, and Bonbon, right?” Admittedly, the names of the yellowblood and blueblood had not quite stuck. This time however, he made sure not to forget.

Before they could go any further, Sarcel called them over, along with some of the other personnel. As she gave them the lowdown, Kursha resisted the urge to look back over his shoulder. He could identify the miscreant later. In the meantime he mulled over the new information. He could not imagine anyone going to the punishment pits voluntarily, unless they were retrieving intelligence from a prisoner or planning a breakout. Neither boded well. If it was one of Byakko’s operatives, he would have to kick the mutant for being so hare-brained.

“Thanks, Sarce.” He edged on over to the Lieutenant, and draped an arm around her shoulders. He gestured to Static. “You’ve met Static, of course. The next up and coming blueblood lieutenant,” he teased. “So, who’s carrots?” With a wiggle of his eyebrows he nodded towards the orangeblood.
