Eira Post 4

Eira gave a little sigh of relief and said, "I do thank you! You really are a treasure doing this for me when I am a stranger to you. I was really worried about standing on my own. Not just because of the Dretch but because there are plenty of other threats out there that might spring up, thieves and the like tend to drift toward these sorts of gatherings after all." Giving him a smile she said, "I'm sure you'll fend off any dangers that present themselves though being the strapping warrior you are."

Stepping closer Eira wrapped her arms around one of those belonging to her escort, glad to have him for many reasons. One of which was the fact that he helped to fend off the cold a bit. At his comment about something being a 'relief' she couldn't help but to glance at him, giving him a curious look, "What is a relief, darling?"

Did he mean the fact that the Alkidike women were the target and not the Earthlings, "It's terrible of me but I am a tad bit relieved as well knowing those back at my inn will be safe as they are not the prime target." Save for maybe Sinny because she was female and a magic user, they might want to make sure she was kept under guard just in case.

The Only Black Uke

Hargitt | 3

It was nice, having that bit of Jakkoa's weight pressed against him. So few times had Hargitt allowed any such contact between them for prudish reasons, but little instances like this he found didn't bother him so much. They came naturally; almost subconsciously, as if his body were acting on instinct with little to no thought at all.

There was a young iceling man he recognized, one whom he was sure he'd been accused of kidnapping some years ago, but now didn't seem the time to bring that up. Or ever, really. He looked...content, with his rather buxom lady, and it seemed for the best that there was a healthy amount of distance separating them.

It was easy enough to just enjoy the moment for what it was, and take peace in the murmur of his leaders speaking. He heard bits and pieces, but Hargitt would be lying if he said he held onto every word. It just seemed inane to get too riled u-

And then there was Jakkoa.

Hargitt closed his eyes, but even in that darkness he could see the indignant turn of Jakkoa's features. So much so that even when he opened those baby blues to turn towards the smaller man the image didn't change.

“Let them take them! Let them take all of them for all-”

Almost as soon as Jakkoa started asking the inevitable whys, Hargitt spoke up, "Once the Dretch have finished with them, where will they turn? They've taken our people once; they can do it again." Ignoring the alkidike in their time of need might buy them some time, but would it ultimately do them any favors? If anyone knew how to fight them it would be the very women who weren't even here. Which brought up more questions; if they were being asked to stand by their side, then where were the alkidike representatives? Hargitt didn't like the thought anymore than Jakkoa did, but if it meant keeping the fight away from Sauti, where the whole of their families resided, then he would do his part.

The Only Black Uke

Maritza | 3

It was nice to know that at least her home was clearing out, and that those beasts were focused on something now. Though, the whole sum of what was being said was rather confusing to her. It didn't make sense; they didn't like them, she'd heard nothing but bad things about the alkidike since they'd landed on Tendaji, and now...now they wanted to help?

"So, what they're saying is, Belrea's pretty much safe now, yeah?" Maritza questioned drolly. "If that's the case then why are we hanging around here? No one likes those Alkidikes, right? Let 'em have 'em, and we'll ship off."

All at once the entire crowd was like a mirror into her soul; one that took her original words and echoed them, spreading out with far more vigor and aggression than Maritza could have imagined. She'd never seen this much discontent in one area before. Some felt as if their leaders had turned on them, were selling them out to a hoard of 'bug women' who'd already proven how untrustworthy they were, and others were just plain angry. So many curses were being flung around, with no real sense of rhyme or reason, that it felt like she was back on board the crashing airship again.

"As soon as someone raises a spear, we're gone, got it?" She murmured to Amalric, staying suspiciously close to him. Maritza had seen a mob or two in her years; strikes were a thing that happened in her mother's line of work, so it came with the territory, but she'd never had to fight her way out of one. Didn't mean she wouldn't, though.

Jerami/Lixes Post 4

Drexl Post 4

Drexl nodded. "We'll help..." he muttered to the other two. "If we can offer aid from here, we should. We have family back there." he looked around in case anyone had overheard. He kept Jerami at his side before looking to his brother. "If you go off, be careful. Remember we have a rely point..."

He would prefer that his two most important people stay where he could see them. Though he didn't think that this wouldn't go without issue once things got underway. There was that risk the Dretch would pop up when they all were gathered.

Jakkoa | 4

Jakkoa was still bristling, angry to perhaps an irrational extent—but how dare they: just come up before all of these people looking for answers and suggest that even though the problem was focusing itself elsewhere they ought to offer their lives and children’s lives to help alkidike. Under the seething, though, came Hargitt’s voice, and his gaze moved there — still frowning, though not specifically at Hargitt so much as the situation generally.

…where will they turn?

Jakkoa shook his head. “It would be useful if we could learn something about how to fight them, certainly,” he admitted. “But that is what I thought we came here for, not this. If the alkidike had special information about how to take care of them, they ought to have shared it already, particularly if they are asking for aid, but are they even asking for aid? Where are they now? I don’t see them…”

It was difficult to imagine the race reaching out to ask anyone for help. But if he had seen that then perhaps it would be something to note. Except it did not seem to even go that far. There was not a single alkidike here. Hybrids in the crowd, yes. But not one of their kind coming forward at the head of the table begging their assistance.

Still, it made even less sense for their own leaders to ask this of them if there had been no request.

Jak’s fingers itched to bunch. He drew breath instead and released it stiffly.

“If the alkidike are to proud even to show their face and ask for our aid, or simply to volunteer the information to help destroy these beasts, then they are already useless and we can learn as much about how to combat the creatures from watching what they do now that they are the primary targets. So far as I see it this only means that the Dretch were their problem to begin with that bled over to affect all our people, and while they were attacking us? The alkidike gave us no information, did nothing to aid us, and continued to keep whatever they had secret. Now that their problem has come around to focus on them…I do not think we should spare a single soldier for their cause. Watch, if anything, and see if we can learn by action alone how they might be fought…”

Amalric | 4

Amalric had only had the chance to nod at Maritza’s initial inquiry before the eruption of chaos about them occurred and — well — he supposed he couldn’t say he was surprised. Though he was not as personally invested in it as some, he had to imagine he was in truth fairly far toward the more passive and uninvolved end of the scale if everything were put in perspective. He wasn’t especially comfortable around the giant women, and he knew that caution was appropriate, but he also had no special hate for or reason to hate them.

They were largely a non-entity for him.

Still, he could only imagine they were even less of a figure for Belreans, and it seemed almost comical to ask such new acquaintances as between their nations to take up arms and fight for a group that had not even requested their aid, so far as he could discern.

More immediately pressing, however, was the shift in mood, and in retrospect he could not have said what exactly cued him in. He simply felt it, not so much at the initial burst of noise, but when Maritza’s tone shifted from droll to a subtly-cautious murmur and her body pressed the smallest fraction nearer to him, there came a prickling under his skin. And he realized perhaps there was reason to be afraid, in such a crowd. Condensed anger and confusion was a potent and unpredictable thing.

His hand moved quite without thinking about it, touching down at Ritz’s side. And around them, a subtle gust picked up, rippling outward like waves from a pebble dropped with them as the center point. Not so much as to be distinctly notable by anyone else not paying attention, but still given strength by the crisp winter and sharp enough as a result that the people nearest them shifted minutely away, giving them space.

“Gone,” Amalric agreed, his tone having taken on a quiet seriousness to it, and eyes pinned on the crowd, gauging reactions.

Urosangylea post 4

Uro smiled lightly and nodded. "Mhm~ Everyone has an aura. Some stand out more than others." The returned compliment caught Uro by surprise. She couldn't help a blank stare before a pleased blush colored her own cheeks. "Thank you!" she purred, trying to not smile too brightly when such a serious topic had so many negative gnats sparking up in the crowd. They might try to stifle her...

Though she saw Elia's startled jump, she made no sign of having seen it. "Do they really know more?" she asked curiously. "Surely they would share what they have if-" she caught her statement quickly, pausing a moment before speaking again. "Pride makes people to strange things.. like not ask for help when it is needed. I bet they would like us better if we helped them out?"

Ergon post 4

Ergon looked over to the woman with a rather surprised expression. However, he felt himself standing taller still, a confident smile rising as well. "It is my honor," he assured. He sure could get used to such praise~

Heat hit his face as the woman hugged his arm though. Did escorts allow this? He didn't know! His proud stature shifted slightly, youthful awkwardness hinting in how he stood. "I-it is not so terrible to feel relief that your friends are safe," he said, clearing his throat to regain in his 'manliness'. "You own an inn?" he asked; his interest piqued. A businesswoman! Okay, now he was a little more interested in his escorted lady~ The shouting from the surrounding meeting was quite unsuited to any business talk, though.

AKIYAL
Post: 2

"On the road to whe-? Hey!" He scoffed, glowering at Callum and threading fingers through his locks to adjust him after they were so rudely disheveled. Akiyal was a young man full of complaints and uncertainties. Such things did not usually dampen his confidence, of course, but it seemed like- since so little was actually clear- that there was hardly enough room for confidence and self-assuredness among everything else. He still wanted to be, if only because between he and Callum, such things really did fall to him. Aki wasn't the most observant, but despite his impaired vision, he wasn't wholly blind to his older companion's weird and relatively unexplained anxiety.

He knew... a little about Callum's past. A husband and some kids and that all of it hadn't exactly 'worked out' somehow. Fortunately, he wasn't entirely unfamiliar with such situations, but somehow, knowing of it didn't exactly make it 'relatable,' as far as Akiyal was concerned.

Particularly not when Cal's interests had somehow brought him to intermingle with Alkidike. Aki knew the other man's kids held some of that blood in their veins, and while he was usually fairly vocal about his opinions in most regards, this time (and any time he thought on it), he tried extra hard to keep his disgust contained. He should have now too. He could see plainly that Callum was clearly worried for all that business about what could be going on, and Aki didn't want this man to be worried or frightened for his offspring...

But somehow among a crowd of others also jeering at the cruddy predicament the Alkidike were in, he couldn't quite contain himself. "Yeah? Well, good riddance to them, then."

It felt like it could only be a positive thing to have the Alkidike and the Dretch fighting among themselves. The Alk had never been helpful or even tolerant towards earthlings, so to spend any effort aiding them over one of their problems felt outright foolish at best. Even if the dretch did finish them off and look for more targets in their earthlings, they had the raw numbers to take out the remains of whatever the Alk couldn't kill themselves, he bet.

Neryssa; Post 3

Taking a moment to get a cloak from a merchant that was wandering around selling them. She wrapped the fur liked fabric around herself and started to feel a bit warmer. Even if she would have liked all this to have been inside. "That would figure that it would be out here. When these creatures first started appearing. I was in Belrea and the meeting there was in a large theater like building." Nersyssa still shivered as she tried working warmth into her numb legs.

As the meeting had started with those she had traveled with arrived. With the greetings over, things were starting to happen. Fin like ears poked out her hair as she turned to listen, the bodies around her drawing closer as well. Seems it was starting, even if she were at the back of the crowd.

"They are only choosing certain ones? What can they be doing?" Nerysssa pondered. "What do they hope to gain by taking Alks? Perhaps trying to find mates?" Though the thought shook her to the core and she didn't want to even imagine such a thing happening. It was even a thought she wouldn't put on her worst enemy...

Draven; Post 2

Finding something for Regale to eat and a bone to gnaw on afterwards. He left the Janarim where he could keep both an eye on him and be still within reach. Draven headed over towards the rest of the crowd, stopping a moment as those from over the seas had arrived. Apparently they too hadn't been left untouched by these creatures. Frowning he moved to stand with the rest a hand rested atop his sword's hilt.

As the gathering went silent as the elders started talking. His face paled even more at the mention of alks being targeted by these creatures. He often worried that Dem would get into trouble. Much like the time he had first run into the woman. But this made him worry even more. Since his coming north he hadn't seen his adopted mother, or even his sister, who was half alk. Looking over his shoulder towards Regale, the Janarim staring back at him.

"I do hope that they are alright." He muttered to himself looking forwards again.

Jacinthus Post 4

Jacinthus gave a twitch of one ear, looking thoughtful, "I can only imagine." He thought back to a run in he'd had with a rather special being not that long ago, one that had told him a few secrets of the world. Was it to do with that? Was he reading into things? It didn't matter either way because he couldn't really voice these thoughts with anyone now could he? It was a secret he was told to keep, one that he meant to keep, just in case. One didn't want to risk angering magical beings after all.

Looking over at the Matorian woman he couldn't help but to wrinkle his nose, "I've seen the Dretch up close, fought with them, killed some of them. No matter how much I don't care for the Alkidike I'd rather not think of the Dretch taking them as mates." He wouldn't wish that upon any of the tribes no matter his thoughts on any of them.

Limbree; Post 2

The Sauti area, the meeting place and their first crash point. Granted she had brushed it all aside and out of her mind. They had gotten the craft back into the air and was able to get it back home. It was not her finest moment, but served as a learning experience at least.

"Didn't think I would find myself on this side of the seas again." She tickled Skitter's chin as she talked, Her leaders talking with those of the lands of Tendaji. "Perhaps we will stay here for a while and explore. My parents won't mind.. So long as I send word back of course."

As people gathered, Limbree squished herself in with the rest, though her bright green hair and chocolate colored skin caused her to stand out a bit. Her hair more so then her skin tone. Raising her head some she listened to what was being said. Seems things were going worse here then they were back home. This was never good...

Neryssa; post 4

Neryssa glanced back at the one she had been talking to, her eyes wide at the knowing that he had fought with some. She wouldn't go near one of those... Dretch things even if she were paid to. She didn't see herself fighting them, even if it was a last resort. "Last time I saw one of those things I was in Belrea. It appeared behind me and took someone." She shook her head, her hair swaying from side to side. "I was hoping they would just go away. Seems that was a bad hope."

Pulling the cloak closer around herself, wishing her sister were there. Nadyia had always known what to do in cases like this. She was older of course and more world traveled then Neryssa ever was. "I haven't had the chance to meet any alkidikes myself, kinda went to Belrea first chance I got and been there a while." She said a little ashamed, but she wanted to go to new places and Belrea was as new as could be...

“Why can’t they just deal with this on their own? What’s the point of being dragged into a battle between bugs? I say if they aren’t targeting us anymore then let the Alkidikes deal with their own problems. Why help those who have harmed so many of us in the past?” A Zenan’s statement rang out through the chatter of the crowd and Enki watched as a young male stepped forward towards the leaders, “I’m quite content staying in Zena away from any of this as are many others.”

“But what if somethin’ worse happens if the Alks can’t stop the bugs?” Quipped back a Sautian girl who shoved herself forward so that she could pursue her opposition in the debate that was raging throughout the crowd, “Are ya sayin’ that you’re so content ta just stay hidden at home while those bug creatures take over everything? It’s not like all the Alks were bad either since some actually helped us out before! We’ve fought against them yes, but we’ve also fought alongside others!”

Enki pinched the bridge of his nose as he listened to others join in on the debate, “Things never can be easy, can they?” He groaned before glancing towards the other leaders. How did they reign this in? It was a great spectacle, one that he and the others had expected to occur whenever it was revealed that the Alkidikes were the prime targets now. He wouldn’t lie though that if there was any chance that the Dretch would back off after the Alkidikes gave them whatever they wanted that he would personally be tempted to say forget it. Let the Alks deal with their issues and we’ll deal with ours. But he wasn’t a fool. Those Dretch were pure evil, he had witnessed that creature’s soulless eyes himself as it snatched that girl before him, and if everyone didn’t pull together then...well he didn’t want to think about that option.

“I say let them debate.” The older Belrean crossed his arms as he studied the crowds, “Our Academy often seeks knowledge but sometimes it takes a great debate before we reach any conclusions. I say allow them a moment more and then we shall present our own argument.” He rose a brow as he glanced towards Enki, “That is we do wish to help these Alkidikes that you speak of correct? Despite whatever pasts you share it seems that the greater evil are these Dretch creatures and so we should pull together to defeat them.”

What was this guy’s name again? Ardah? Enki sighed before nodding his head, “I suppose though we know the obvious answer is to fight.”

“Perhaps.” Freya startled Enki as she quietly contemplated the debate, “I do not enjoy the idea of abandoning others but is it truly necessary that we risk our own people like this?”

Enki found his mouth opening to protest before his brother’s presence once again quieted him down, “Let’s listen to what everyone has to say before we decide.” At Enlil’s words Enki found himself slowly nodding. If they were to unite against the enemy then they had to settle on a decision together.
