"Oh not at all," Melody said almost shamefully. "I try but. I'm really bad at it and I often feel like I'm being mean." She sighed and took a small sip of her tea. "I don't want to hurt anyone."

She looked over at him, curious why he asked such a thing, "Do you?"

"Sometimes you gotta hurt something or somebody if you're going to stay alive," Micah said, his expression going somber, his eyes distant for a long moment as he remembered Delta City. He shook his head. "Can't be squeamish if it's gonna be life or death. I practice."

She sighed and looked distant, no way to know even half the hell Micah had been through and hopefully never will. "I'll keep trying," she promised distantly before holding her bag out for him. "Are you sure you don't want some? It's my last and I'm pretty full."

"Well, all right." Micah took the cookie he was being offered and nibbled on it politely. "Pretty good," he allowed. Once he'd finished it, he drank some more water, then set the water bottle down and got up, stretching and groaning. "Bout ready to get started again?"

There may have been an involuntary groan of disapproval at getting back to work. She took one last sip to finish up her tea and sighed, pretty loudly, before nodding. "Okay fine but can you do the glue this time?"
