Yokka- Post 4

The encouraging smile was small, but welcome. With so many voices rising in fear and anger, being near another steady person was a relief. She glanced back at her family, who all seemed tense and focused on what their leaders were saying.

The scream made Yokka spin fully in her seet, getting up onto her knees to see what was going on. She could not see very clearly from her position, but the strange sounds echoed through the theater. She gripped the back of her chair tightly, staring at the apparent tear in the air behind the hooded figure. People were vanishing into thin air.. literally?

Howth
post five

Until that moment, Howth had been sure that staying silent and not making waves would keep him safe, but the blurry sight of some... bug... appearing out of nowhere and stealing away a girl before anyone could react... it sent the stoic boy into a bit of a panic.

"Did you see that?" he breathed, pale eyes wide. "I, um, shouldn't we hide?" Maybe it was pointless to try, considering that whatever that was had just made a portal from nothing, but it kind of seemed like the only logical course of action.

Sethaeus Post 5

He was far enough away that he didn't quite see it once the masses were pushing back, and struggled a moment to hold his ground. Thank goodness for the fact he was toned and able to right himself without any effort. He took a moment to help a girl who stumbled into him, before looking toward the other boy, "It'd be better if we weren't near this crowd...I feel like were about to be overwhlemed!"

Things were starting to get out of hand, As much as she was scared of the creature, thing, she didn't know what to call it. The rest of the crowd those closer to the front seemed more determined to get away. While she too wanted to get away from it, she also found herself just watching. Pressing herself back as far as she could without crushing Lygs to the wall. The young Matori gripped her fan tightly hoping to not draw attention. She could hide in plain sight... Right?

Mind torn between racing after the Telmna, Limbree was also keeping an eye on the bug... Thing.. Moving forward towards the rift in the air, she slung her bow back over her shoulder and reached out to grasp a hold of the woman that was being dragged through. She wasn't going to give up one of her own without a fight, Even if she was to be dragged in with her.

"Oh no you don't. You let go of her." Limbree hissed. "Let go or I will drag you out as well. Makes no difference to me."

Chapter 9: Grave Expectations

|| IC ||

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The crowd heaved as they tried to get away, a breathing mass of fear and anxiety. This was the unknown, but no one seemed keen to explore options. Instead they felt trapped, terrified, and needed to get out. The issue was the bottleneck exits, and the stress of trying to make sure no one was hurt. Already there were cries of people falling, of people unable to breath, and of the safety members trying so hard to make it to the front of the pack.

As some brave souls finally attempted to approach, the thing began to hiss and flash it's blade. It seemed to hesitate as if wanting to strike, before smoke split the air around it. With a pop, it disappeared along with the unresponsive girl in it's arms, and all that was left was the echo of cries and the strange scent of burning.

Cries were made to attempt to calm the crowd, but still people seemed keen to leave...or to hover close to the Academy for answers. What now? What would they do? What just happened?

Things seemed to escalate around the area as more pushed backwards. A few went forward to try and help the unresponsive woman. The sight of a weapon caused Neryssa to back away even more, as if she had had the space. But everything seemed to wrap itself up as the rift closed with a cloud of black inky smoke. With a sigh, she just about fell to her knees.

"That... was too much excitement for me..." She muttered to Lygs who shivered on her back. "I just don't know how these fighter types deal with such things. I will just stick to dancing and being in that spot light, not this one..." She was clearly shaken from what had happened..

The hissing and clicking didn't stop Limbree from moving to help, just the flashing of a blade made her drop back a step as the smoke spilled from the rift, With the 'pop' it was gone taking with it the bug like thing and the woman. Blinking, Limbree looked around at those that had also attempted to help and the masses that now huddled in areas away from where the action was. Now there were more questions then answers. But who would have the answers?

Nadiya - 6

"As much as I love a good story that thing gave me the creeps." Nadiya hated feeling useless but that creature made her definitely feel that way. All the Matori could do was latch onto her sister so that she could pull her back in case anything else spawned. There was no way that she would let her go or herself go without a fight! Nope, nope, nope!

Though a bit of her was relieved. At least others had seen that strange thing and couldn't blame the mainlanders anymore...right?

Tyiva - 5

The Alkidike's heart jumped in her chest as the girl was kidnapped. A dark name long feared by some flickered through her mind before she moved forward with her blades in hand. She had to help, had to do something against that awful creature! But the crowd was too thick and before she could do anything else Tyiva was forced back as the girl disappeared into thin air.

Sorrowfully the warrior lowered her blades before glancing around. It seemed in this situation she was currently powerless and the thought made her jaw clench in frustration. She just prayed to Aisha that her sisters were safe now that they were here...

Howth
post six

"Yes, let's—"

There was the strangest sound, a pop that Howth could hear even over the panicking crowd, and he turned toward where the girl and bug creature had been to see if he could determine what it had been. All he saw now was a writhing mass of people that threatened to swallow him up if he wasn't careful. He gestured toward an emptier space, hoping that the Geian would move with him to safety.

She clung to her sister, nodding in agreement. At this point, she almost wished she were still home. At least there nothing bad like this happened... Right? "I hope everyone back home is alright, if these things are here. They are home too... Right?" She looked at Nadiya worriedly.

Chapter 9: Grave Expectations

|| IC ||

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The Academy leaders were calm, collected, and curious. Some showed disgust, but many were curious at what occurred. However, they quickly hid it as they realized that beyond the magic and travel, this creature had taken someone and quite possibly led them to their death, and as a result they needed to lead their people to confidence and safety.

Ardah decided to speak up.

"Citizens!" He said with a shout, "If anyone has been harmed, or hurt, please report to an Academy Safety member to be tended to!"

A few shuffled, while others shouted out for answers. What was that creature, where is that girl, and were they even safe anymore? All of the questions were raised and the Academy leaders shifted.

"We know not what sort of creature that was." Spoke the leader of the sector of knowledge, "We've researched the races of the mainland, but none have appeared with such traits, not even those on the other island across the sea."

The Safety leader nodded, "We will need to learn more about such things...to understand what a creature like that could be and if it does hail from the mainland. Until we have more information, we cannot come to any true conclusion..."

Pausing, the man looked out to the faces of blue and yellow in the crowd, "Foreigners...come forward and speak up if you know of answers, and know you are welcome and will not be punished for sharing your knowledge. Help us keep our people safe..."

Howth
post seven

Howth was pleasantly surprised to find his choice of location had been a good one. While people continued to panic, the spot he had picked kept them clear of him, a safe nook in a sea of confusion. He was frightened too, but the feeling quickly dulled once the threat had gone. Much like the Academy members present, he was far more curious than anything else.

He had to get home and tell his mother.

Beyond curiosity, he was surprised to feel a renewed sense of purpose, a push toward the Academy that self consciousness and doubt had crowded out since he had been tapped to attend. What he had to offer might not have been perfect, it might not have even helped at all in a situation like this, but there was worth in it even so.

Agi had been stunned into silence but now was taking notes as fast as she could manage, ink spattering all over her pages. The foreigners were interesting, and she would get back to them later, but Oh wow did she have a scoop now. Of course, it would be the scoop that everyone else had, but Thats where the foreigners came in and, and... wow! Gosh! Yes!

She was so psyched.
