Kanda squatted near the area where all the torti were gathered, new coatl draped about her neck. During the cruise she had spent much too long in the snack area and had missed out on her chance to talk to any of her roommates-slash-new-friends. Now she was caught between admiring these new familiars and looking around for them. She was pretty sure she'd seen Leto and Vega somewhere in here, Enomu too. The only issue was every time she would go to look around for them, her eye would be caught by a different torti. They were just so shiny. And they came in so many different colors!! She wondered if perhaps she could convince one to come home with her. They would totally fit right in with her other familiars!

Vüsala had discovered he had the misfortune to get seasick on bodies of water. The cruise started off well enough. He’d gone with Kanda to try some of the cuisine from swirling sands. (The tamune was interesting. He still couldn’t quite pinpoint what flavor it tasted like.) He’d gotten vaguely nauseous within ten minutes on the boat, but hadn’t wanted to say anything. After the first half hour he’d had to go back to his room to see if he could do something about that. He hadn’t thought there would be a problem.

Now he was feeling mostly better. He was supposed to be chaperoning the students. He had to be out of his room. (Not to mention it would get him off the boat.) So here he was. Watching students. And torti. He could see Kanda off in the distance, looking longingly at some of the torti nearby her, and then shaking her head and looking around as if she was looking for someone. He quirked a half-smile, keeping one eye on her. The chimera wasn’t particularly worried, but it never hurt to be careful.

Coco laid down in the sandy ground near Kayla Sue, she was watching the torti and some of them seemed pretty low to the ground, or in the ground so Coco decided she wanted to get a different view. She wished she could get small enough to fit in one of the torti dens so she could see what they looked like. Coco wondered if there were lots of tunnels underground that the torti lived in and if they lined their dens with anything so they could rest comfortably. Her tail moved a little as she lay in the sand but not enough to be scary she hoped.

Niamh had lingered on the boat as long as she could, enjoying the coolness and a soothing rocking motion. She'd finally disembarked, and was quite enchanted to see the conservation area. She carefully approached the fenced in area, and a large grin broke out across her face.

Contained within were some quite fantastic looking creatures. And some of them were so huge! She wondered if there were really any creatures larger than them that lived here. It seemed unlikely.

She pulled out her notebook, and scribbled down her observations.

Kiessi was getting excited about all the torties that seemed to be coming near them. They were nervous and felt their stomach lurch at the thought of finding one of them for themself. All of them were so beautiful and the gems on their back gleamed in the light. They really hoped they could take one home to show all their siblings.

Nashira glanced up as she and Aedus were approached by one of the conversationalists. She took the lettuce that was offered to her and looked down at the torti that came to her. She held the treat out until the torti decided to eat it. After it had taken the leaf, the gorgeous familiar settled down in a shallow hole in the sand beside her. Nashira reached out and gently touched it's head. The torti seemed to like it, so she smiled a little.

"What they were thinking?" She blinked at Aedus. "Right now, I feel as though they are wondering what we are. If they have been living underground for so long, they likely have had little to no contact with us until the conversationalists started working with them. If I have learned anything from my pumpka... they worry about when they will be fed next." When Aedus asked what her favorite was, she looked at him curiously. "My favorite? In general? I think I am drawn towards specterfox. But of the torti? Well, this little one has stolen my heart." She touched the crystals on it's back, and the torti shook a little.

Nicolae watched some of the students start to interact with the torti. This was really quite a genius tactic. The torti were slowly becoming used to the students, and by letting the students take them back to the academy, they would be protected, and could start breeding. "I really do hope that we can increase their numbers. These are fascinating creatures." He looked around for one of the conversationalists. "What causes the crystals to form?"

Aurora sat back down after she tried her food attempt to draw a torti to herself, she was thinking about other ways that she could get a torti to come over to her. She wondered what they liked to eat and what they liked to do for fun. If she could figure those things out surely she could make friends with one of them. She started to humm softly as she was thinking and then started writing some of her thoughts in her notebook. She hoped something would come to mind that would help in her task of trying to learn more about the torti.
