Zero wasn't all that surprised when Scarlet pinned him down onto the bed, her eyes a white color that could only mean one thing. He let the shadows vanished, having accomplished their job of keeping Scarlet from wrecking anymore of her room. Zero looked calmly at her, one of two things would happen now, she could lose control, die, and become an ammit, or more likely she would become a Khurix. Either way Zero was more than capable of taking her down should the need arise, but for now, he laid almost limply under her.
As Scarlet's eyes slowly stated to change back to normal, Zero smirked a bit to himself Khurix it is. he thought honestly a bit glad that Scarlet wouldn't be dying from the attack."Calm down will you? For starters, you're alive. Secondly, there's nothing 'wrong' with you per say. You swallowed some of the ammit's blood. Luckily for you though, since you're a counterpart, instead of killing you and turning you into an ammit, you've become a khurix."Zero spoke calmly, going over basic knowledge. His gaze didn't trail from Scarlet's face "By the looks of it, you gained strength and healing, good thing you got healing off of that. Think you probably would have bleed out or something if you hadn't." Zero spoke with a small chuckle. Sure he had bandaged her up, but that could only really do so much for broken bones. "Let's see.... what else?" Zero smirked playfully pretending to ponder. "Oh, if you could get off me, that'd be nice. Less my little playmate wants a hug." Zero teased. He felt pretty sure that Scarlet was still going to have questions, this kind of thing wasn't exactly taught in the surface world, but for now, that was all Zero could think of informing her.

♮ Scarlet poked at her scars on her arms and examined the bandages that were wrapped around her rib cage. Did Zero do this? She traced along the white fabric with one of her fingers as she listened halfheartedly to Zero. Scarlet pouted when he told her to calm down.. "I am calm" She interrupted in frustration but Zero kept talking. "Hmph" Scarlet felt so strange, her body felt light but also heavy at the same time, and her vision seemed clearer and colors were more vibrant than before. She glanced down at her hands and made them into fists, her grip felt so strong and firm now. Wierd... When Zero mentioned that Scarlet had swallowed ammit's blood, all her memories became clear now.
That monster was choking me, so the only thing I could do was bite him. Then I was thrown across the room, and when my body slammed against one of the washing machines, the impact made me accidentally swallow it's blood that was already in my mouth. It happened so fast and then ... Her eyes squinted like she was trying to physically see her memory. I remember Zero...he came up to me...and I hugged him...and I cried...
Everything came back to her in an instant, and the embarrassment started to peek through her cheeks. To make it worse, when Scarlet thought Zero was finished talking, she saw him start to smirk and ask if she wanted a hug. The pink on her face turned into a deep crimson when she realized two things, one, Zero was probably reminding her about the hug she gave him and teasing her about it, and two, Scarlet was still straddling him! In less than two second she was already on her feet next to the bed, almost like she floated off him, her face still beet red. "I....You....!" She couldn't come up with a retort so she just stood there flustered and annoyed at the fact that he made her this way.
She shook her head and sighed while crossing her arms across her chest. Scarlet noticed that she was now standing in front of her body mirror, which was just a few feet away from her bed. She saw that there were more bandages on her legs, that were quickly undoing themselves, probably because of all her frantic movements. There were healed scars that she's never seen before, running down and across her legs and arms. He wasn't joking about the healing.........wait. "My...eyes..." I thought it was only in my dream.. She blinked once, twice, three times...there were white splotches staining her once green eyes. Scarlet turned towards Zero, her eyes turning a bit glassy. "W-what did you say I was? A counterpart?... a-and what's that have to do with becoming a...keyreex?" She tried pronouncing khurix the way Zero did but it just didn't come out right. Scarlet was feeling so frustrated and alone...she knew Zero was there...but he lacked the understanding of how to treat people when they are sad, confused, or angry. She felt like crying and punching the wall at the same time. Why is this happening? Her heart was so twisted that it ached painfully, and she couldn't help but feel a knot developing in her throat. All she could do was bite her lip hard and keep the angry tears from spilling over. So I am I monster after all...just like in my nightmare...

As Scarlet finally realized that she had been straddling the demon and frantically scurried off of him, clearly flustered, Zero let out a small chuckle, sitting up on the bed. He simply watched her for a moment as she attempted to collect herself and looked into a mirror, muttering something before turning back to him and questions pouring from her mouth. Figuring she noticed the couple of light splotches still dotting her eyes, Zero let out a small breath, "You're not being calm." he teased lightly with a smirk as he leaned back on an arm. "Your eyes will go back to normal in an hour or so. Zero stated with a small flick of his hand as though shooing off a bug. Getting to Scarlet's questions about being a counterpart and a Khurix, Zero playfully rolled his eyes "Ugh, they don't teach you guys anything on the surface world, do they?" he joked with a small chuckle. "Yes, you're a counterpart. My counterpart to be exact. Basically, there are certain beings that are assigned to a human which is called their counterpart. You're my counterpart, I'm your counterpart. With a counterpart there are certain..... rules, that need to be followed."Zero spoke then raised a finger. "Firstly, if I'm in the surface world and we're to far apart from one another then I start to get weaker and you start getting ill. Secondly,"he raised another finger."Should you end up becoming an ammit, it's my job to clean up. So do me a favor and don't." he chuckled lightly with a small smirk."There's some other junk, but that's not important right now." Zero spoke giving another small shooing motion with one of his hands before getting to his feet.
"A khurix is a counterpart that was dumb enough to swallow ammit blood. You in this case." Zero smirked before continuing. "Once ammit blood is swallowed by a human, two things can happen. One, you die and become an ammit. Or two, which can only happen if the human is a counterpart, you become a khurix. Basically, you gain abilities. In your case, you got strength and healing. Possibly castable healing, we'll test on that one. Zero smirked a bit. "Anyway, you're still human though, so don't think this makes you invincible or anything." he spoke before moving in front of Scarlet and giving her a playful pat on the head. "Well, I think that just about sums up the basics." he chuckled, messing up her hair a bit.

♮ Scarlet felt a bit calmer when she heard that her eyes were going to return to normal in about an hour. She then softly glared at Zeros teasing statements but her expression quickly changed into confusion once the explanation of being a counterpart was given. "...You're my counterpart, I'm your counterpart..."
The words echoed in her mind as she tried to wrap her head around this new learned fact. The 'rules' were even more peculiar. Wait...I felt a certain way during the whole ammit dispute, a slight gravitational pull towards Zero when faced with danger...is that another side affect to being a counterpart...? She didn't want to say anything about what she felt out loud because it just sounded too weird. So, instead she needed to clam herself down with a little humor. "Gee.." She rubbed her unshed tears out of her eyes with one hand and continued. "Being a 'counterpart' sounds a lot like being soulmates..hah" She gave a laugh that came out dryer than she anticipated. All she wanted to do was try to make light of this situation, mainly for her sake. Humor always made things better, she would always tell herself this but she just couldn't shake this feeling. Her heart thumped loudly against her ribcage as Zero told her that if she ended up becoming an ammit, then he would kill her. Although he was saying this with his usual smirk and chuckle, she couldn't just ignore the fact that he could easily do it at any moment if he really wanted to, and he wouldn't even break a sweat...She swallowed hard and looked away from his gaze, the knot in her chest was beginning to form again. She noticed that he got up on his feet and started to approach her. "It was an accident.." She mumbled with a pout when Zero called her dumb for swallowing the ammits blood. Zero stopped right in front of her, she was still looking away. Suddenly she felt something warm lightly rest on her head, it was his hand. He gave her a pat and then quickly after saying something, he ruffled her hair up in a playful manner. This sudden interaction felt so strange...warm and soothing for Scarlet. It relaxed her in a way she could not explain...is this also a side affect?....Is he feeling this way too?.... Her arms were wrapped tightly around her torso as she looked up at Zero, but couldn't look him directly in the eyes. His hand still atop her now messed up hair. "So...if I died in my sleep just now and became an ammit...you would..kill me...again?" She was slowly trying to recap what he explained to her. "And since I didn't...uh...die...I became a khureex."Nope...still can't say it. "A-and...the only reason I'm that ...is because...you're my other half."That came out wrong... "Uh..I-I mean c-counterpart." She tried to correct herself quickly to save the embarrassment, and since he was right in front of her, she couldn't really look anywhere so her eyes just ended up on his red scarf. ♮

Soulmates?Zero questioned the term for a moment, wasn't that something humans used to call their love, or something? He pushed the thought aside as Scarlet questioned if he would have killed her had she not become a Khurix, a term she once again failed to pronounce correctly. A small smirk crossed Zero's face as he playfully brought his hand from her head down to her chin, lightly tilting her head upwards to meet his gaze. "Like I said, it's my job to clean up." he spoke softly, his sharp teeth appearing as he smirked. Letting his hand return to his side, Zero let out a small chuckle and gave a small shrug, "Besides, you wouldn't really be 'you' anymore once you turn into an ammit. You're soul turns corrupted, it creates a new physical form, then all you can think about is munching on souls. Zero chuckled lightly.
Zero gave a small nod at Scarlet's next statement. "Yeah, basically had you not been a counterpart, you would have gone straight to being an ammit. But lucky you, since we're counterparts, there was only like..... a thirty percent chance or so that you turn into an ammit." Zero's gaze trailed a bit to the side as he tried to figure out the percentages and once he finished talking he made a small swatting motion with his hand "Something like that." he spoke turning his gaze back onto Scarlet."Oh, and I'm suppose to warn you. Now that you're a khurix, we're more likely to run into ammits, they tend to be drawn to counterparts as is, but with you being a khurix, you're worth a bit more to them now." Zero spoke flatly with a small shrug. "And me being around, honestly, probably not helping." he smirked with a small chuckle.

♮ Scarlet felt the warmth atop her head transfer to the bottom of her face. A soft pink hue had lightly dusted her features in the process of him tilting her head upwards to face him. It was so hard to make eye contact at first but she forced her gaze into his pale eyes anyway. Scarlet felt herself bite the inside of her cheek to keep her from saying anything stupid at that moment, all she could do was stare helplessly and silent. Her heart felt like it was twisted in a million ways and her stomach started to feel all kinds of tingles. What the hell? She swallowed hard as he repeated what he said before and then the warmth on her chin was gone. It was cold again... Scarlet let out a breath she never knew she was holding and chuckled along with him, only her laugh was a lot dryer and fake. She was so confused as to why she was feeling this way, she didn't understand any of this, why did this have to happen to her?
She continued to nod at his explanation, in and out of focus, just staring at nowhere in particular. But when he mentioned that the ammits may return since she was more valuable now made her go rigid. She realized her lips had gone a bit dry so she licked them and bit down on her bottom lip nervously. A chuckle was heard deep within her thoughts, it echoed in her head, it sounded a lot like the monster in her dream. She closed her eyes tightly and looked down while putting a thumb and pointer on each temple, a dull ringing occupying her thoughts but she tried to ignore it. "So you're saying I'm always going to be in danger now because I've become a-a thing?!" Her voice raising with each word. She felt something boiling inside of her, some type of anger, but it wasn't fully hers. Scarlet gritted her teeth and formed her free hand into a fist, her knuckles turning white. The dull ringing becoming more audible in her mind. Her eyes were becoming white again, she wanted to...hit something, or break something...or Kill somethin--- What the hell am I thinking?! "Agh!" She groaned in pain, as she stumbled backwards hitting the wall with her back, holding her head in both hands now. Something feels like it wants to take control... "It hurts..." She mumbled into her palms. "Z-Zero..." The desperation and fear in her voice were clearly audible, she needed help with whatever this was. ♮

Zero let out a small sigh as Scarlet said she'd become a thing, "A khurix, besides, you're still human." he corrected. He was about to say more when Scarlet suddenly stumbled backwards into the wall, clearly in pain. Frig, she's still fighting the ammit blood. How much did she swallow?!Zero thought to himself as he pulled Scarlet close to him. "Scarlet, it's okay, you're still adjusting to the ammit blood. Stay calm alright?" Zero spoke softly. Zero grit his teeth slightly, he could feel Scarlet dying to the ammit blood, at this rate..... she was going to lose.... going to die.... Ugh, why can't I just let her turn into an ammit? Be done with this?...... Why do I feel like this with her?! Zero thought to himself irritated. Sure there was a special kind of connection between counterparts, but something about Scarlet was different. He liked to be with her, he liked having her around.
Shaking off the thoughts, Zero focused completely on the situation at hand Looks like I don't have a choice Zero's grip tightened around Scarlet for a moment before he held her at arms length, hands on her shoulders. "I need you to stay with me okay?" Zero spoke, pale eyes not trailing from Scarlet's face. "I can make it stop but I need you to let me work, okay? No interrupting the process." Zero spoke seriously. He could take the ammit blood from her that wasn't merging correctly, she'd still be a khurix but she'd be a lot more stable. The process would wear both of them out, but right now, it was that, or Scarlet would turn into an ammit.

♮ She felt her blood boil quite literally in fact, she was burning up inside and probably outside too. Her vision blurred at some points and she was feeling extremely disoriented. "Make it stop...."
Suddenly a pair of strong hands pulled her forward and her side bumped into something hard. It was Zero holding her, he was speaking in an uncharacteristically soft voice, telling her that everything was going to be okay and she should keep calm. He was so close, if she wasn't feeling so terrible she would be blushing right now. But she did give him a warm smile before wincing in pain once more. Her breath hitched as she lowered her arms down to her midsection, wrapping them around her torso. The heat was so intense, it was making her much weaker by the second, she was losing feeling on the tip of her fingers and toes, spreading across her body. Scarlet was starting to feel a little calmer, mostly because her senses were beginning to fail, everything was slowly going numb with heat. Her eyes were two thirds of the way white already, she closed them for a second. Only to open them once more and see Zero in front of her, holding onto her shoulders. What was he saying? "...stay with me okay?" Zeros voice was muffled, the ringing in her ears was almost too much to bear now. Streams of tears were running down her numb cheeks, she looked calm though, just staring into the demon boys eyes.
Then it dawned on her...
Scarlet had fallen for this demon boy named Zero. "...Stay with me..." Scarlet repeated his words softly, but her words had a whole other meaning behind them. She sounded so weak and vulnerable, it almost sounded like a plea. I want him to stay with me...I want to stay with him...in his arms...like this. His expression was so hard to read, was he worried, or angry? Did he want her to die so he could finally fulfill his mission? This is technically her fault, Scarlet did end up killing herself in the end. Her body was numb now but the pain going on inside her from the blood was slowly killing her. "...I can make it stop..." Scarlet saw his mouth continue to move but that's all she heard. He can make it stop? Scarlet's eye lids were getting heavy but somehow she did manage to nod anyway, her hand fell over Zeros hand and her fingers twitched lightly in an attempt to squeeze it but it was no use. She couldn't even form words with her mouth anymore, she hadn't even realized that she was on the floor already, she must've fell during all of this. I don't want you to leave me because of how I feel towards you...but why don't you want me to die? Don't you find pleasure in death and killing? What am I to you Zero? ♮

Hearing Scarlet repeat his words of 'Stay with me', Zero smiled a bit, glad that she was at least able to hear him. Before he could say anything else, Scarlet's legs seemed to collapse under her, acting quickly, Zero caught her and gently lowered her into a sitting position on the floor, keeping her balanced as best he could as he knelt before her. Without another word, Zero kissed his counterpart on the lips. He could feel the ammit blood leaving Scarlet as the process went to work. After a few moments, he pulled away, his eyes starting to glaze over a bit, though a small smirk came to his face "That should fix that." he spoke softly before picking Scarlet up and placing her down onto her bed, tossing the covers over her. Taking a seat on the bed for a moment, Zero pushed some hair from his face, the spell was always seen only as a last resort, and typically not on humans, since they're mortal anyway. It takes a hard toll on the user, but even knowing all this, Zero had used the spell anyway. What's wrong with me? She's a human.... so why do I feel this way? Zero thought to himself with a sigh before getting back up to his feet. The world started to spin a bit, his vision blurring into darkness, so Zero sat back onto the bed Shouldn't get up just yet... he thought to himself, slowly starting to doze off. He had planed on going to rest on the couch like the previous night, but had ended up passing out in the bed beside Scarlet.

Opening his eyes once again to the familiar meadows, Zero let out a small sigh, sitting up in the field. "Welcome back!" the voice of Elinaris chimed behind him, making Zero turn to see the red head gently caressing a red rose on one of the rose bushes. "You act like it's my choice." Zero spoke with a sigh as he got up to his feet. Eli walked closer to Zero, stopping only a few inches away and looking him over, her face growing more serious. "You used Arcane Abnuitio, didn't you..." she spoke already knowing the answer. Silence fell for a few moments before Eli let out a small sigh and continued "It was your counterpart.... wasn't it? Why? Why would you bother with them? Just let them turn into an ammit, kill it, and come back home." Eli spoke clearly a bit upset. "Eli, the task is to get her to kill herself, her turning into an ammit doesn't count." Zero smirked a bit with a light chuckle. He was already on thin ice with Eli from the previous night, and he knew better than to piss her off. "But it's not worth using Arcane Abnuitio over! You know the risks! No human is worth it, they're gonna die at some point anyway!" Eli grit her teeth. "Eli, I'm fine. You're getting worked up over nothing. Calm down." Zero spoke giving her a light pat on the head. "Fine..... but don't do it again and come back home as soon as possible." Elinaris spoke and continued after getting a small nod from Zero. "Goodnight, Zero. Sleep well." and with that Eli vanished along with the garden, leaving Zero to his dreams.

♮ Scarlet felt incredibly weak now, her body was shutting down and all she could do was look at Zero, his ivory colored skin, his eyes, the way his brows furrowed, the way his raven colored hair fell against his forehead, the gentle moving of his chest as he breathed....her eyes slowly shut and everything started to fade. This is it...
Suddenly a warm feeling embraced her lips, it was tingly and a bit wet to the touch but also a bit dry. And just like that, her senses were coming back. Scarlet still could not open her eyes but she could definitely tell now what she was feeling upon her lips. It was another pair of lips, and not just any pair, it was Zeros! Her senses were coming back at full blast now, her heart beat started beating again, faster and faster, her brain sparked, and organs came alive. It was so much at once that she instantly passed out in Zeros arms, but this was after she kissed him back with the little energy that she gave him.

It was morning the next day, the daylight peered through the curtains in her room and Scarlet slept soundly snuggled up to her pillows. The suns light reached her closed eyes which made her crinkle her face in discomfort, she moaned and hid behind the closest pillow on her bed. Scarlet sighed, feeling the sleepiness slowly leaving her body, making her open her eyes with a flutter. Everything was blurry until she blinked a couple times and finally realized what she was snuggled up against. Zero?! She froze not knowing what to think for a second... How?...! Wait ...what happened last night? She tried to remember with all her might but all she remembered was pain, and numbness and darkness...and warmth...warmth? Her hand slowly made her way up to her face and gently brushed against her lips as she looked up at Zero soundly resting by her side. His back was facing her, and they were in a sort of spooning position. His wings were lightly pressed against her chest, but the top of his wings tickled and poked her neck. Scarlet's other hand made it's way to one of his wings, she hesitated, terrified that he might wake up if she touched them. But she was curious, so she finally closed the distance between her palm and his wing, she touched them. They felt quite peculiar but not in a bad way, they were soft almost leathery. Her cheeks flushed as her memory slowly came back to her...Zero saved her life. He must've taken away what was hurting me so much...he kissed me? It was all so incredibly confusing to her, but all she knew was that the boy she had recently realized she had feelings for was laying right next to her on her bed. Gosh..it's even embarrassing just thinking about it... She ducked down in between his wings, her crimson cheeks grazed against his leathery limbs. She then softly pressed her cheeks into the one closest to the bed and inhaled his scent...he smelled kinda smokey....she grinned a little. Well obviously...he kinda lives in the flaming pits of hell... Unknowingly, her hand made her way back to his other wing and started to pet it ever so gently...her mind going else where as she enjoyed this small moment. She'll probably never ever get this opportunity again...he would never have feelings for her...he's a demon for petes sake.

Zero slowly half opened his eyes, his brain trying to get him to go back to sleep. Stupid spell... stupid ammits.... Zero thought to himself unaware that he'd fallen asleep in Scarlet's room, or more specifically in the bed right beside his counterpart. Feeling something warm on his back, Zero turned his head some to try and spot what it was. He was met with a mess of brown hair that belonged to his counterpart, Scarlet. At that moment, Zero realized where he was and quickly rolled out of the bed and onto his feet, despite his body not wanting to move. Frig, must have passed out in here he thought to himself as he looked at Scarlet. His gaze trailed a bit to the side and he lightly rubbed the back of his neck "Uhh, sorry guess I clocked out after the spell, it's pretty energy costly." Zero smirked a bit a light tint of pink coming to his face. "So.. you feeling better?" he questioned letting his gaze go back over to Scarlet. With any luck, she wouldn't be completely ticked off that he'd fallen asleep in the room with her, apparently quiet a few humans had issues with that.
