June 2017 Math Prompt

"Today is a pop quiz! Everyone fill out your quiz and turn it in when you're done."

Rules:
  1. Roll a d100. 30 and above is a pass, under 30 is a fail. You may roll as many times as you need to.
  2. Post a small RP response in thread with how your student felt about the assignment.

User Image Caron didn't really have a head for math but he did the best he could. He sighed and looked back at his test. Once he was done he turned it in, he really hoped he had pass, he didn't think he had done very well since many of his answered had looked wrong to him. Caron was a history guy he didn't like math very much at all it just didn't click well in his brain. Caron sat at his desk waiting for the class to end so he could get out of there and do something else that day anything else.

Caela scratched her head with one floating claw. A favorite number? That was kind of weird. Still, if she had to pick one... "My favorite number is three. I have three claws on my hands and three strips on my tail. Also, lots of things come in threes, I hear. Like jokes. Or deaths. That's what my mom used to say, anyway." When she said it, it seemed to make more sense. Three really was a magic number, when it came down to it. She was going to have to look for groups of three now to see examples. Wasn't there some kind of number divination thing? That might be worth looking into.

"Two." That was simple enough. Two was the number of fans Pann could practice with. If she had more than two arms — say, four or eight — she was sure those numbers would be her favourite instead.

Pann didn't know anyone with more than two arms. She silently wondered why if there was anyone out there in the big wide world with a mutation like that. It would be hard to hide, though. She was sure it was news worthy ...

"I love the number two because two makes a pair ... and my favourite thing in the whole world is my pair of fans that Arceus gifted me!"

"Hrrrmn ... " Arceus had to think harder on this then he cared to admit. How did someone pick just one number? Did numbers even deserve favouritism? They were symbols ... dollar signs, even. But not much else. Even still, Arceus had to complete the assignment, and so blurted out a random number.

"Four." He said with a squished up mouth. "Because ... uh ... I ... " he had to think of a reason, quick! "Like ... to eat ... four ... apples a day?"

Smooth.

His favorite number? Did Solomon even have a favorite number. Normally favorite numbers where do to some sort of fond feelings associated with the number, like you liked Seven because you where born on the seventh. You liked 12 because you thought good things happened when you liked the number. Solomon didn't have any of those things. It was a silly sentiment, however math wasn't really the strong point for a lot of students, and the challenging things didn't happen until later grades. Then again it was an assignment. He would just have to think outside the box for himself, surely he could come up with something.
" I like two, I think. Yes I like two. After all I have two other members in my family, there are two adults with red hair. Myself and my cousin form another two red haired pair. With two you aren't lonely. You have something to share your discoveries with. So yes my favorite number is two" Solomon stated when his turn came up. There that was sastifactory.

Oh it was favorite number time. Come to think of it he didn't really have a favorite number, or maybe he just hadn't found one yet. However that would hardly get him through the assignment. It wasn't as if he scoffed at the idea. Everyone liked something. Hmm so what number meant something to him? After all it wasn't as if he had a lucky number so to find the answer he was going to have to think of something that appeared in his life. He wanted to have a good answer after all. Wait that number would work.

" my favorite number is nine." He began when it became his turn. " mostly because I have nine different siblings, sure not all of them are blood related to me but we're a family. Plus that means I have nine different friends that I know will always be there for me."

User ImageSeraph frowned as he walked into class, he hoped that they didn't have anything to strenuous today. It was hot... which meant that the summer months where upon them, seriously his least favorite months. However as the class started and the teacher gave their assignment he knew his plea had gone unanswered by the gods. Unfortunately they had a pop quiz.

When the sheet was put down in front of him, the mushiness of his brain due to not liking hot weather, made it seem like the test was in a different answer, still he tried his hardest and some how got a passing grade. Not the best score he had ever had but not failing either. Ugh he would just have to try harder next time.

Calypso had been elsewhere in her mind when she heard his teacher mention a pop quiz. Her mind snapped back into reality as she looked down to the paper. She hadn't studied! She was gardening and doing other fun things. In fact, she was so tired from going to bed late that she hadn't even really remembered what class she was in. Calypso filled out her questions then turned them in. Ah, perfect... wait? Why was everyone still taking their quizzes? She looked to the person next to her to see them turn the page and fill out the back. Her heart sank! She didn't even look at the back!

Calypso slipped up to the teacher and asked for her quiz back, explaining that she forgot there was a back. She then sat down and selected her answers. Looking over her answers, she tried her best to make sure all of it was right. Everything looked good but she still doubted herself. Calypso wondered what her friends were doing. Where they taking a pop quiz too? She looked around before she got up to turn in her paper. The quiz wasn't as bad as she had thought but it sure gave her a fright! Calypso then pulled out a piece of paper to doodle on; her head in the clouds again.

Thema counted as high as necessary. She could have counted higher. It wasn't hard to count to a 100. She wasn't five. She hadn't been for six years now. She was just about to begin her young teen years. If she didn't know how to count to 100 by now, there was no hope for her. Some of the other kids, however, seemed to be struggling. She didn't want to show off, so she decided to only count to 55 and leave it at that.

Sagi was nervous. He couldn't quite place why. Maybe it was because of the need to perform. But for some reason Sagi could barely get past one. It was incredibly embarrassing, and the boy blushed darkly. What was he going to do?

Sagi stuttered his way to two and flushed even darker before sitting back down, hands on his head as he took in a deep, steadying breath. No way. No way this was happening ...

Zoe clenched her small fists together, determined to do well in this assignment. It was only counting; it should be so easy! But as she started counting, she found herself actually running out of numbers; how did you run out of numbers?? "Seventy-two.....uhm......seventy-three........seventy-four......seventy.....seventy....five......" She squeezed her eyes shut and focused, but try as she might, she couldn't remember what came next. "M'sorry."

User Image Andrew started counting and he didn't stop till he got tired of counting then he sat down to draw stuff instead. He clearly had no problem with counting, but he wasn't into counting really he wanted to draw instead so he went back to drawing once he showed the teacher he was able to do as they asked he went to do what he wanted to do. Andrew yawned and looked around the room to see how everyone else was doing if anyone needed to be helped Andrew could help them if they wanted him too, or he would just wait for class to end.

User Image Shock was well shocked he didn't know he was good at anything he growled why was he good at counting this was weird and he didn't understand this funny feeling in his tummy, numbers didn't have anything to do with the wild or being free from school or rules. This was really weird he wasn't supposed to be good at something. He grumbled trying to understand why he was and why he felt funny. Shock spent the rest of the class being grumpy and confused he wanted to go run in the woods being good was bad and bad was good grumble.
