"Yeah. Had one or two on New Years or Christmas." It was hard tell sometimes. Often, he'd wake up and realize it had been a dream or a peek into an alternate universe, or that it did happen but they'd all been doped on Fear or Joy. "Guess it's been a while." He wasn't exactly a social butterfly, nor did he care to dance in public all that much. He waved his hand passively, taking a bite of his own cupcake, nearly over half of it at once. "Yer welcome." He let the conversation die for now, relaxing in the comfortable silence while eating.

It was very hard to imagine a dance - or really, any sort of party or anything - on Deus, other than...well, no, there was nothing else. Chance couldn't quite wrap his mind around the concept of it all even as he slowly ate his cupcake - much more slowly than Otto.
After he was finished he tucked things away onto his plate, Chance reclining back in his chair and offering Otto a smile.
"Well? Better?"

"Better." Otto affirmed, his tray pretty much empty of food. He leaned back in his seat feeling gutsy enough to balance on two chair legs; meanwhile he slyly edged his own feet up onto Chance's knees like a foot rest. "Hope you weren't busy with anything today."

Otto was given a pointed look, but Chance didn't push him off, instead just patting one of his ankles consolingly.
"Me? Busy? Never." A winning smile was flashed across the table. "Why, did you want to do something?"

Otto had to smile when Chance smiled. The curly haired devil was just so charmingly handsome, he couldn't help it. "Nope." He said with confidence, wiggling his foot a moment. "Just makin' sure I ain't keepin' you from anything important. Like work." He was making himself pretty comfortable, after all. "Just feel like keepin' you to myself is all." He didn't have anything in mind that they could do. He mostly wanted his company, or his conversation.

Chance made a face. "Work is work is work," he said airily, waving the hand that wasn't currently resting on Otto's ankle. "I finished everything I had to do, anyway, and I don't have another duty shift until tomorrow. So you're stuck with me," he added.
The smile made his own widen, Chance grinning.
"And here I thought you just liked me for my devilish good looks," he deadpanned. "Looks like I'm all yours, hot stuff."

"Nah, that's just the main reason. Eye candy." He was lying, of course. Not that he wasn't good looking. Because he was. Very. Otto hummed in thought, levelling his gaze at Chance as the gears and cogs struggled to turn in his head. "Wanna do the Sun Run together? Gotta work off all them calories, right?"

"Oh, I see, you just keep me around to look pretty," Chance said, with an understanding nod. He gave Otto's leg a final pat and then pushed his feet gently from his lap to stand, plucking up his tray and going around the table to idly sweep fingers through Otto's hair.
"Are you asking me on a date?" he asked, in mock surprise. "By which I mean, yes."

Otto let his legs fall and his chair settle back down. Standing after his hair had been properly ruffled, he picked up his tray and shrugged. "I take you on the best dates. I'm so ********' romantic." Otto turned on his heel and disposed of his tray. While Chance took Otto to places like cake stores, Otto fancied a competitive setting. Usually. Arcade centres or spars. It didn't really matter, so long as he got to interact with him, and watch him get his feathers all ruffled now and then. To think that Chance Bones used to be so called 'emotionless'. It seemed alien to Otto now. He stole a glance at the taller man, looking away again with a self satisfied smile. He just felt giddy, making it difficult to pretend to be the stubborn grouch he'd been known as for so long. He shoved his hands into his pockets, trying not to walk too quickly and show how energetic he was feeling. He wondered if Chance would always make him feel like this.

"The most romantic person on Deus," said Chance grandly, as he took care of his own tray. It was said with affection, rather than outright mocking, because Otto was romantic in his own way. It just took a little bit of needling and work to get underneath his prickly exterior, but it had been long enough now that Chance knew how to get there - and how to hold onto the smaller, quieter moments that didn't come as often.
Besides, they both knew that out of the two of them, Chance was unexpectedly sappier and more romantic in a traditional sense, and more than made up for the discrepancy as it was. He was perfectly satisfied - more than satisfied - with how things were between them, especially since Chance had never thought something like this would even exist. The concept had been foreign to him until Otto.
He bumped gently against Otto as they made their way outside, Chance grinning down at him.
"You're not gonna totally kick my a**, are you?"

"Where's the fun if I don't do that?" Otto said with a grin. "Besides, it's just Sun Run. It's the shadows that'll kick your a**." And he planned to kick his a** at kicking a** in general. "After this, shots at my place."

"Winner gets to make the loser do something," Chance declared. "A favor. Or something."
Otto was given a teasing wink. "Shots sound like an excellent idea, if you're buying," said Chance, fluttering his lashes obnoxiously, if only because it was clear that they would just be drinking the booze currently stocked in Otto's room.

"Or something." He repeated teasingly.
After a long walk and likely a lot of bullying (from Otto to get a rise out of Chance), they arrived at the training room. It had been ages since Otto had used this particular facility, opting instead of jogs or rounds at the gym. It better simulated a melee situation found on the field. Not so useful in time of danger when the enemy wasn't obvious, which more often happened.
But whatever.
"Ladies first~." Otto said with a cheeky tone.

Needless to say, by the time they got out of the Sun Run, Chance was sweaty, tired, and thoroughly beaten even if it hadn't really been a competition. He wasn't terrible, but Otto's experience meant that he knew how to work the course better than Chance did.
"I still say I should have won," he said, as he pushed open the door to Otto's room, Chance breathing in the familiar scents. "You totally had a head start."

Otto strode past Chance and into his room, puffed up on success. He was aching all over as well, but paid his discomfort no mind. He'd won, sort of. His after glow masked the ache of the work it took to get there. "Don't be a sore loser." Otto slipped off his shoes and collapsed onto the couch. "Bring me the booze!"
