The next riddle was surprisingly easy--Jie was able to guess it as soon as the vendor had finished reciting it. To her delight, that had earned her a pet! She chose a darling little flitterrat and hoped that this wouldn't cause a problem for her pet cat.
Melisara wanted another turn at the ring toss. She was satisfied with her prize, though--a mug full of her choice of hot drink. She chose hot cider and looked around for another activity for herself and her brothers.
Darryl was pretty happy with the idea of staying here at the beanbag toss, especially since his next throw earned him something very special--a pet skyfish! He chose a green one and grinned at his parent. This day was getting better and better!
Heru wasn't lucky enough to win a pet like her brother was, but she felt that she was almost as lucky--she won another stuffed animal and a fashionable black boa that she wrapped around her shoulders.
Guereda was glad that their children were enjoying themselves. As a vendor with hot drinks passed by, they picked out another mug. This time, they picked a turquoise one--for Heru, who liked almost any color.
Nkiruka sort of liked the idea of a darts game. She stuck close to her brother, aimed her darts carefully, and threw. Her second dart missed, but her first one won her a pair of antlers and the second one a very nice purple cat plushie.
Xeno knew his sister must be uncomfortable, so he didn't mind staying near her. He only got a prize with one of his darts, a book. Hey, pretty nice, actually!
Verity had indulged herself with a new pet. Now it was time to let the boys indulge themselves. She let them pick the next game, which turned out to be a guess-the-object game. Shera loved running games like this, but she hadn't been able to lately. Verity did well enough to win a book, then stepped aside for the boys.
Fenaret was admittedly a little bored waiting for his mother to finish getting a new Fennekit, but since the kit was a nice one, he didn't mind that much. He and Frankie agreed that they wanted to do the guessing game next. It was a pity that Ra couldn't be here for this, but Ra had work today, so that was that. Fena and Frankie took turns guessing objects. Fena won a stuffed cat and a glowing purple bulb necklace.
Francesca was rather bored by the fennekit episode. It was nice to get to pet them, but also boring to wait while paperwork was filled out and money exchanged hands. But after that they got to play another game. It wasn't the same sort of guessing game without Ra running it, but it was good enough to give both boys a challenge. Frankie won a stuffed fox and a glowing bulb in his favorite color, yellow.
Mary watched the kid, Nkiruka, with interest. She seemed...shy? And yet, nothing about the way the kid walked was shy. She wondered what Nkiruka's story was, but didn't dare ask. She'd have to do that later.
None of Mary's darts found their mark, so she leaned against the post to let other people have a go. As someone serving hot drinks passed by, she took one and sipped on the hot tea appreciatively.
Denidar and his siblings were taking one last go at the ring toss. After that, they agreed, they'd do an obstacle course. Deni's last two rings won him a stuffed kidden and an interesting looking book.
Zuna's luck at darts was better than Mary's. She won a blue boa that she wrapped around herself. It was surprisingly stylish, and not as scratchy as she'd assumed it would be.
Raniol's prizes were similar to his brother's (to his relief). They consisted of a book (a different one than Deni's) and a stuffed kidden. Hey, very nice!
Ciel's next riddle was almost easier than Jie's had been. The prize this time was a pet. Rather than chose a flitterrat, though, Ciel chose a kidden. She had one at home, but it would be nice to have another one to keep Sing-Song company.
Ebene moved on to a shell game. She was a little suspicious of it, since games like this had a reputation for being rigged, but she was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was a pretty easy-going game. She won a gold-colored bracelet and a stuffed cat.
Takaroa stayed on at the bowling game--it didn't seem too crowded, and he liked it that way. He won another skyfish at this game, a brown one. He couldn't wait to get home and show off his prizes to Puhi!
Eidil and Cal stayed on at the dart game for one last round before moving on. Cal didn't win anything, but Eidil succeeded in winning another book. It would be nice to be able to power through these books when she got home.
Only RP'ing Kayndie today, she got the highest roll. Not claiming any trinkets except for her.
Kayndie was getting a sweet tooth, she wanted something extremely gooey sweet. She had spied several others wandering around with sweets, some in a bag others on a stick and she wanted one. Looking around she finally spotted a small booth that had sweets. Eyes widening at the sight, she took her time making her selection. She happilly sauntered off with a bag of Peppermint Bark. Munching she was in heaven!
The only surprising aspect of Cleo wandering towards a book stall was that she hadn't done so earlier. She browsed the selection in an unimpressed manner, noticing there were hardly any educational volumes. She was about to claim a book on dark alchemy when another cover caught her eye. Tilting her head in curiosity, she picked up the novel to inspect the couple on the cover. "Good choice," said Quinn nonchalantly, looking over her shoulder. Cleo began to blush fiercely, turning to face the elf. She went to scold him but it was clear he was grinning at her blush. Promptly shutting her mouth, Cleo stormed away. "Wonder if she knows I saw she still took the book," he laughed to himself, before choosing a book for his own amusement.
Bebe and Teto continued their giggling march through the grounds, sipping their cocoa happily. They were headed for a hill to sit together when something caught Bebe's eye. "Oh my gosh, Tails, look at that!" she exclaimed, making a sudden b-line towards a stand. This time Teto didn't have to wonder what it was that caught her friend's attention; a row of lit-up necklaces lined the shelves. "Oh my, they're very.. bright!" Teto commented as Bebe slipped a green one around the kumiho's neck, making sure it sat neatly under the boa. "We'll look so silly with all these accessories," she giggled as Bebe selected a pink one for herself. "It's Solistice, that's kinda the idea."
Despite the demon's oh-so-polite warning, Thomas decided to make his way to where the bracelets were. He could leave the stand for a moment, right? After all, it was still in his vision as he reached the table. "Gosh, these are awful," he commented with a grin. He selected a particularly eye-watering yellow piece, before slithering back towards his stall; there was already a small line of children wanting candy. Classic.
Meanwhile, Raven had realised that he was wandering aimlessly. In an absent-minded way, he glanced at the stalls around him, occasionally wandering towards a booth before quickly dismissing them. He sighed and nonchalantly decided to inspect some plushies at a nearby stand. He went to poke a cockatriel toy when it nipped him on the finger. "Argh!" he exclaimed, pulling back his finger and glaring at the bird. The stall-owner laughed and commented that the familiar had taken a shine to him. He insisted Raven take the bird - "the name is fitting, after all!" - and the demon had little choice but allow the thing to hop onto his shoulder. He glared at it in a half-hearted way, muttering, "you bite me, birdbrain, and I'll have found myself some new feather pillow stuffing, understand?" The bird just squawked at him in what Raven thought was a self-satisfied sound.
(( zeerah did not claim a trinket ))
Xero was, uncharacteristically, worried. His twin had bounded off while he was inspecting his new fluffbug, meaning he was now in this awful place by himself. At least that meant he could leave now without being yelled at. Smiling slightly at the idea, he started to make his way towards the dormitories when he heard someone calling him. With a sigh he turned and saw Zeerah bounding towards him, something horrible in his arms. Xero watched in horror as his twin presented the thing to him. "It's a vespercat toy! Look, it's grumpy just like you," he laughed, shoving the plush into his brother's resisting arms, "I nicked it for you from some nearby stall. Maybe don't wave it about when we pass it, yeah?" Xero shook his head and sighed. "The way you use your gift is beyond my understanding," he muttered. "Must be the first time you've said that, huh?" Zeerah joked, dragging his brother along to get into more shenanigans.
Fortunately Essurio had finished her candyfloss, meaning her arms were slightly more free. She clung to her new toy like it was barrier to protect her from the world. The bells on her antlers jingled lightly as she turned her head this way and that to look at all the bright, colourful stalls. "This place is so wonderful," she said softly to herself. Like Bebe and Teto before her, the lightbulb necklace stall certainly caught her eye. Avoiding the two juniors as best she could, she slipped her hand up and gently pulled down a blue necklace. Struggling slightly with the cumbersome plush she managed to get the thing around her neck. She smiled happily down at the glowing bulb resting on her sweater.
Naihilus was getting sort of bored by playing the memory game over and over again. At his suggestion, they moved on to a classic carnival game that Nai had rarely, if ever, played: skee ball. It was trickier than it looked, and all Nai got for his first three goes was a bundle of admittedly very pretty candy canes.
Anchriesel was a little reluctant to move away from a game he was doing so well at, but he took the suggestion to move on gracefully. He was a little better at skee ball than Nai was, and won a book and a stuffed sealpup.
It was Aura's turn to pick a game in any case. They ended up picking whack-a-mole, the old classic. Aura's prize was a red boa.
Sound Lee got an opportunity to watch Aura in action. For that reason, he was sure, he did better than she did. He won a stuffed kidden and a book that looked quite promising to read.
Jie was glad that they'd won big prizes at the riddle game, but she was also worried that they might have run through all of the riddles the vendor had to offer. But as she had no other suggestion for a game they could both play, they decided to stay and exhaust the rest of the vendor's riddles (the vendor had a lot of riddles). Jie's next prize was a beautiful blue bulb necklace.
Fenaret's next turns at guessing objects were equally successful, earning him a stuffed fennekit and a mug.
Verity allowed herself to be cajoled by her sons to have a try at the guessing game again. She was once again successful, collecting a new book to add to her collection.
Ciel was also a little worried about exhausting the stock of riddles, but she assured Jie that there was probably someone else here with riddles as well. In the meantime, she guessed the next one correctly and got a bulb necklace. She let Jie pick out the color.
Francesca was a little disappointed with this guessing game--the vendor wasn't as good as Ra was. Oh well--this person's lack of imagination was Frankie's gain, as he got a stuffed, mutant cat toy and a mug of hot cocoa.
Ebene moved on to a ball throwing game designed to test one's skill at throwing a ball really fast. Honestly, Ebene wasn't good at sports, but she did manage to make a reasonably good guess as to what speed she could throw a ball. She won a purple bracelet for her troubles.
Zuna wasn't too bad at darts now that she had a chance to try it out some. She won a blue bulb necklace on her next try.
It seemed like bulb necklaces were all the rage--Yaviss's next dart won him a green bulb. He took a break for a little while to scan the crowd for any sign of Xyla.
Mary found herself with another new mug of tea in her hands courtesy of another friendly server running amok. This time she stood next to the kid, Nkiruka. Mary watched the little Geist throw some darts and nodded. "You're pretty good at this, Nkiruka," she murmured.
Nkiruka was enjoying the darts game now that she really got into it. It gave her something to do to ignore her brother being all lovey-dovey with Quilo. She'd won a vespercat plushie and a glowing bulb necklace when the half-Naga startled her. She looked up at the strange teenager with her mug of grass water in her hands and shrugged. "I guess," she said quietly. "Never really played it before, so I guess?"
Denidar led the way to the obstacle course where he and Niol tied for first place in the race. For their efforts, each sibling got a set of candy canes, although the twins also got a stuffed vespercat each.
Melisara was a little disappointed in her obstacle course skills, but she shrugged it off. Hey, it had been fun to do with her brothers! She selected some peppermint candy canes and stretched. "Ah call a rematch," she said with a grin.
Raniol nodded and slipped his own peppermint candy canes and his new vespercat plush in his stocking. "Yer on," he laughed. "Yer not gonna win, Sara!"
Takaroa had some new rivals at the bowling game, so it was another fifteen minutes before he scored another pet as a prize. This time he picked a pretty black aetherjelly as his prize.
Reda was getting a little tired, but neither of their children showed any signs of flagging. Reda sat down with yet another cup of hot drink (the best way to prevent a cold, in Reda's humble opinion) to watch their children from the safety of a bench.
Heru managed to find the perfect game next--someone had set up a snowball throwing game in a corner with enchanted fake snow. They just had to hit the moving target with the snowballs. Heru did quite well and came away with a bucket of fake snowballs.
Darryl wasn't so sure about this active game, but went along with it for his little sister's sake. He picked out a purple bracelet as his prize.
Eidil and Cal took a break from games to pick up some food for lunch--all the time they'd been spending together had been making them a little peckish. The stall next to the hot dog stand where they got lunch was giving out free books. Eidil picked out one she hadn't gotten yet and thanked the vendor.
Mango finished his two chapters and looked around, it seems most of the party has been set up already so he decided to continue reading his book.
He got up and decided to get a mug of hot cocoa when-his face lit up. A giant kidden plush, almost as big as him!
He grabbed the plush and propped him up on the chair. He then climbed on with the giant plush supporting his back, the other plush besides him, the book open on his lap, and the mug in his hands.
Not rp'ing the others only Cuileann, she got a familiar and the highest roll. Mymind just isn't with me these last few days, I am sorry with my grandson being in hospital I just don't have much umph to rp right now.
Cuileann was beginning to feel tired, she should go back to her room and get some sleep but a small noise caught her attention. She followed the sound and found a small tented area that held familiars! She was so excited as she had a few already but she adore them. One of those cuties caught her attention immediately, she always wanted one and she finally had the chance to get one. Smiling she held out her hand and waited until the cutiepie climbed up in her hand, nose twitching fast. Giggling she slowly pulled her hand up and towards her so she could softly pet the lovely.
Walking off she headed to her dorm to introduce her newest friend to her other friends awaiting her in her dorm.
azure smiled and looked to her as she slipped the bracelet on to his wrist" thank you dear I love it and now we are matching." he said as he lead her around. he pondered the temperature as he sipped his tea it was chilly and the drink warmed him he stooped at a stand and got her a cup of hot coco as he thought about things. with the look on his face it was easy to tell he was thinking about something. but he stooped and carefully handed her the drink, he looked at her and gently pulled her in to a hug being careful not to spill there drinks " should we go ice skating?" he asked unsure if she would like it.
