"I'm un-corruptable," he said with defiance. Of course that wasn't remotely true. Look what she'd already gotten him doing around the Prytaneum! He'd likely have far fewer friends if it wasn't for Misha, and they had met purely by accident. Of course knowing her now, it made sense that she had jumped into the situation in the Alps.
"He's not very open. I'd probably have to update you myself, but I think he'd like you. You're not a pushover or a raging b***h, so I don't see why he wouldn't. He would harass me less, though."

"Why, thank you! You say the sweetest things." Somehow she managed to bite back her giggle at his phrasing. "I'm so glad you don't think of me as a raging b***h. Not going to lie but that would break my heart." She reflected on the truth of that with very little surprise. Brian was one of her best friends in this new world. It would hurt a lot if he changed his mind about her. She snuggled a bit more into his side. "Why does he harass you?"

Brian chuckled. "Of course not."
He liked his women strong, after all, and Misha was just that. He didn't know what he'd do if his mother and sisters started insisting they date. He wasn't sure he wanted to know what her answer would be if he gave in.
"Oh, no, he doesn't harass me now. I mean he'd harass me less than the girls. He's not much of a 'feelings' guy, but you just have to know how to read him right." He was ignorant to the relatability of this trait.

"Oooohhh. Dads do things like that. Well, most dads." She shrugged and his arm over her shoulders moved with the gesture. "My dad isn't very good at it unless he's working. Mom and I can almost always tell what he's thinking and feeling." She laughed. "But, call me over-confident, I think I can get an idea of most people pretty well. Poker faces are only so good and there are always tells." She did not feel that she needed to say outright that Brian's face, while wonderfully controlled a lot of the time, had begun to reveal all sorts of things to her. It did not help that the rest of his body insisted on giving clues as well. She smiled to herself and absently snuggled further into his side.

"Yeah, Mom's pretty open about it," Brian said, "but you don't really have to guess, she'll just outright tell you. I don't think they could be more different in that way. They're both good folks, though. Like helping people. I've got a good group o'people."
He turned and kissed Misha's head, but his eyes never left the road ahead. He walked one leg crossing over the other and then fell back into step. "So what are we after today? I maybe should invest in a truck some day. Supply runs can be tough."

Misha considered his question in silence for a moment, reviewing the checklist in her head about the party. Some of what she needed would have to be picked up with a vehicle but she figured that, between the two of them, they could manage some supplies. Light decorations, mostly. "I guess you're right," she admitted. "You can only carry so much. Prytaneum provides almost everything we need, though." She smirked suddenly. "Except for costumes. Do you have any requests?" She did not specify if she meant requests on things for her to wear or requests in the direction of his own costume.

"I bet we could rent one, if you needed it." He was already considering how much it might cost to rent a truck for a few days, or even just a few hours here and a few hours when the party was over. He'd always been pretty good with the money thing.
"Mm? For me, or for you?" he asked.

"Both," she answered cheerfully. "I'm not going to be a bully, you know, so you get final decision in your own costume." She giggled, tugging their tangled hands over so she could brush a gentle kiss over his knuckles. "And just to prove how fair I am, you really can make suggestions for me, too. I won't promise to wear them but I trust you to pick something interesting and attractive."

"Does that mean 'Brian, I've already chosen, but I'll make you feel like this situation is somehow equivalent'?" He smiled down to Misha. Of course there was a chance that she wanted his honest opinion, but a tease was always preferred with her, especially now. "I don't know. I'd rather not have my shirt off again, or have a fake dong strapped to my--" He looked down a moment. "My anything, really."

Misha actually looked more than a little horrified as Brian expounded on his desire to remain... PG-13. Then she blinked at him and shook her head firmly. "That is just really damn tacky," she said firmly. "Like, hugely tacky. Even worse than Sexy Big Bird." She caught the look of disbelief on his face and giggled, rolling her eyes. "I'm serious. I've seen it for sale on the internet. For the record, no. I was not planning on being Sexy Anything."

"Good! I'm glad you agree. I thought you would," he replied. he really had, too. He hadn't expected Misha to totally forgo Sexy Something, though. It was hard to find anything else, if Halloween shifts were to be believed. He'd stared his sisters down more than once.
"Do I get choices, or do I have to pick from a whole world of possible costumes?"

"Weeeellll..." She drew it out until he nearly squirmed. Then Misha giggled again and turned her head to brush a reassuring kiss over his fingers tangled with hers. "I'm flexible. I'm guessing Tarzan is out because of the whole shirtless thing. Do you want to be a real character or more like a archetype?"

"Good lord, woman, I am an archetype," he said with a laugh. Everyone so far had called him for what he once was. He'd been considering growing his hair out again, but was being mistaken for a teenager worse than being mistaken for a cop? It could come in handy on missions, after all. It had certainly helped when he'd gone out into the field with Lex. "A character with a shirt. And preferably some pants too."

Misha joined his laugh but still stuck her tongue out at him. "You are not allowed to be a cop or a soldier. That's being lazy and neither of us are lazy people. Also, I'm thinking of taking offense at the fact that you seem concerned I would send you out in public without pants. Shirt, maybe, but never if you said no." She gave him a little bump with her hip. "Give a girl some credit for liking you and caring about your feelings." Which she did. She really did. Thinking back on it, she had since the Alps when she had found him after the avalanche to hug away his sadness and frustration.

"I wouldn't want to be. Aren't you supposed to be something new for Halloween? It's the spirit of dressing up or... whatever." He kicked a pebble on the road. "I've spent my whole life dressed-up. I guess it just loses its appeal after a while. I've gotten used to it, I think." Or "I had" rather than "I have," really. Unless the Prytaneum started requiring uniforms, he'd never have to be in another one unless he wanted to be.
