"Perhaps we should all try some formation of resting on these stones," she said, remaining on her perch, unwilling to move even though some parts of the rock was starting to feel tingly. "Perhaps that's why we are all needed, yes? Very symbolic."

Shaddaling Underneath slowly and carefully scrambled on top of the left most stone, tails bunched up to keep them from getting under foot. She looked at the second and gave a small hum before attempting to jump to the next. Nothing out of the ordinary happens as Underneath climbs atop the leftmost stone. The second stone from the left is about two kin lengths away, so she falls into the sand - which is soft and hot - before she can reach, but she could probably make it if she started from a run on the leftmost stone.

Mist listened delightedly as the Kio confided in him. His warm smile offering understanding and nodding his head as she spoke. He wondered how torn she must feel at times being both Acha and Kiokote but she appeared quite light spirited and happy and it was good to see she didn't let it drag her down. At least she was going for what she wanted. Crossing the plains had been quite the experience and he had seen so many Kiokote along the way. It was a fantastic time to him no matter the pace, he just had to be careful not to wander.
Gradually the plains gave way to the hot sands of the desert. He felt the warm winds, a temperature he had never quite experience before, kiss his cheeks and he closed his eyes for only a moment before they snapped open and he gave his companion an excited look which basically said 'We're here! Can you believe it?' The world was gold. Everything glimmered. He now understood why the Acha were the way they were. They lived in a sort of unique, unforgiving, luxury. And he could see it all for himself. The obelisk, rising from the distance sent a shiver down his spine and he paused for only a moment before Rouge kicked up the pace and he hurried his steps. His eyes never leaving the object as they approached.
As every kin spread to explore the area he paused before the great object and stared it down. He remembered the first time. The first Obelisk. Giving Tender a slightly nervous glance he waited patiently to see what everyone would do.

Unforgotten looked at the strange structure in front of him. "What were they supposed to do with it?" he mused. He walked around the diamond shaped object, carefully not stepping on anything. He then nudged he centerstone, the one with weird shape, gently with his snout.

CascadingRayn x He then nudged he centerstone, the one with weird shape, gently with his snout.
As Unforgotten's snout touches the rock, the area around the obelisk seems to come to life. The group is not sure what to look at first: the obelisk is glowing, as is the marking on the stone that he's just laid a hoof on. All five rocks to the west, on the left side, also begin to glow a faint yellow-white color.

Ochre has seen no sign of Mirage, but she smiles at Red-stained Blossom when she came over, and starts to pay a little attention to what's going on. Still looking for the blind buck, but feeling she should help, she suggests, "Perhaps there is a certain order they need to be touched in.
Hopping off the stone she watches Kisses camber up the center one. "I do not see how that is a sand dog, but anything is worth anything try. Baby, get up there." when her green sand dog trots over, Ochre helps the dog climb onto the stone she just came down from.

sheepcakes x Ochre helps the dog climb onto the stone she just came down from. Nothing strange or out of the ordinary happens even when the dog is sitting happily (or not?) at the top of the stone. OOC At this time, the GMs are taking a break. You may continue to roleplay, and do things that do not require GM interaction, but please refrain from performing green actions until the GMs have posted that they are back. The GMs expect to be back in approximately five hours.

Just now stopping to look around again, what Ochre sees has her forgetting about finding Mirage for the moment. "So there is an order. I guess it makes sense to touch the marked stone first. But how will we ever find the order for the rest of them?
Her pack, spooked a bit by the sudden glow, has gathered close to Ochre, all save Baby, who's still perched on the stone and giving the surface a very thorough sniffing. Letting Baby do as she pleases, Ochre hums soothingly at the rest, eyes open for both new happenings and her frind.

Jester's eyes widen, and he scrambles back from the Obelisk in disbelief, staring at his newfound friend with awe. Did he touch it and... make it glow? Is that what the expedition was for, exactly? He'd almost assumed this was just sort of a vacation. That's when he'd remembered something. Spark of Life had been involved in the first trip to the original Obelisk, something Mirewood had described to him as to why she was so concerned about his eagerness to go. He hadn't met Spark before, but he was pretty sure that Mirewood had mentioned something about horrible nightmares after that, that she couldn't seem to shake or get rid of. He eyed it oddly now, and then glanced at the sand dogs and gathered kin with newfound curiosity, and for the first time, a twinge of fear. "I wonder what that will do if we get it to light up, right," he almost whispered.

Underneath carefully picked herself from the warm sand and shook full bodily till she was sure the sand was out of her mane and tails. She looked over herself, picking up each leg before turning around and trotted towards the group. Ooh! It was glowing! So shiny. "It's so pretty."

Unforgotten jumped back in surprise as the stones started glowing. What had he done? Jester had looked at him surprise as if asking "what have you done?" Unforgotten wasn't sure himself. He only nudged the stone a bit. The question now was what to do with the glowing stones...

The trek was long but this was not something that bothered King very much, he was used to long and arduous treks through hostile country and had spent long swathes of his life doing it. Born in the desert and tethered by the ache, he'd even for a time resented having his freedom taken from him and the ability to wander those arid places kept back. This legendary's powers once again offered the chance to be set free and to in doing so complete Fair's last command of the summer.
The desert felt like home when he was there, crossing the sands nimbly and for a moment remembering how it felt to be young with Fair, to be out here when the ocean of sand was all they had known.
The obelisk as always was treated with suspicion and no small degree of contempt by the fairy Acha, who hung back from it, refusing to get involved in touching or trying to provoke a response from such a sinister and unknown object. He sulked beside Stalker while he waited to see if any other Acha might show themselves to be coaxed into coming back with them.
And there he might have stayed the whole time if he hadn't spotted a very familiar looking set of strange eyes on an equally familiar doe nearby.
"Underneath!" he exclaimed. "What are you doing all the way out here??"

Underneath spun on her legs, giving a surprised noise and paused. Ooh, ooh! "Hi, sire," she murmured, tails curling up slightly in shock and horror. Why was her sire here!
"Conquest was talking about getting a volunteer to go on the expedition, so I told Yearn and decided to go myself." Underneath admitted. "I thought it would be fun... and it is just so gorgeous here."

Stalker had indadvertedly helped perform the ritual that set the giant, looming stone off the last time. The motives and purpose of the thing was unknown, but since the Legendaries were involved he thought that the MotherFather might have something to do with it.
Still, he stayed obediently with King. They had not met with any acha that King had recognized, and whether Fair and King's old contacts were lost or dead...they had no way of knowing.
Still, for Stalker it was a wonder. The constant heat of the sun and nothing but shifting sand for as long as the rolling dunes would allow him to see. He struggled more than King, feeling heavier as he sunk each step into the desert.
Something about the lack of trees unnerved him.
The nights were as different as King and Fair themselves, bitterly cold, and he huddled close to King when night fell.
He still inventoried what he could, in case Fair was in need of it, scratching in small writing into some pieces of bark he'd carried for exactly that purpose. He was reviewing it now. "Doe, pink spots, yellow mane. Acha. Buck, blue, blue mane. Acha..." But he looked up sharply at King's exclamation.
"One of the foals? Here, Sire?" He had not seen Underneath since the clutch had been split. If she had any memories of him, it might have been of a very fussy minder and babysitter. He had worried incessantly over the health and safety of all five, and while they were with him had inevitably lectured them on useful and interesting topics, such as the proper way to count and prioritize inventory. At the time the foals had not been very attentive (they were very young), but he thought it couldn't hurt.
But it was, indeed, one of the foals.
"Fun?" He repeated incredulously, but it was possible that with all of his vocabulary this particular word fell outside of his understanding, "Expedition is more accurate. You've...certainly grown since last I saw you," he looked to King, who seemed, well. Not Very Happy.
He flinched out of habit.
