Indignity
Melvin seemed to be being weighed up for his response to the question. "Good." he said with an exhale "Very good. Because I have so many enemies and one day we might have to do something about them to defend ourselves. I wanted to make sure where you stood."
He closed his eyes. "You might need to be the one who saves me at some point."

"Jaaann." He pleaded, trying to keep in his good graces but feeling he was loosing the battle in record time.
"I just didn't know, okay? I never see any signs so it's just surprising to me. I didn't know....malleable?" At this point he was struggling just to keep Jan talking to him to keep him at least in a good enough mood about the topic to not just clam up entirely.
He moved in, wrapped his arms around him in hopes that would somehow help his cause. Kissing the nape of his neck. he breathed out. "I'm a idiot. Enlighten me."

Indignity
"If that day comes, I'll do whatever I can to keep anyone from doing anything to you. From taking you away. I'd never want you to die. I've....been trying to get stronger. I never want to make the same mistake of being too weak like I was before. I want to be stronger so I can be there for you. Someone you can rely on when a time like that comes."
He really needed to train more. Focus more. Get stronger.
This was really killing his buzz.
"I hope I don't fail you. I wish I was more powerful." To be able to protect those from death itself.
Sighing at the heavy tone, he rolled over atop Jan and laid his head against him. "This is a bad mood. We're supposed to be on vacation."

Lawrence had limited tolerance for people failing to meet the expectations he had for their behaviour. Melvin's response had managed to irritate him with its lack of logic and he was completely done discussing the very concept of existing as a gender other than the generally accepted one he maintained day to day.
He leaned into the contact in a reflexive way, physically seeming to relinquish his strop, but even as he wrapped an arm around Melvin he said. "It doesn't matter, it was just a pointless comment. Forget it."

Lawrence nodded. "Good. Good boy Melvin." he petted the other man's hair.
"You are more powerful than you think~" He nodded. "Ssssoooorrry. For the mood. I will be happier." And it was as if someone had flipped a switch, he /was/ happier or seemed that wasy, looking less hollow and desolate and instead simply a little rattled from what had just happened and very fond of Melvin.

His head rested there at he felt the sort of short period that was trying to be stamped at the end of the conversation.
"You said it was something that helped you feel comfortable. I want you to be comfortable, especially around me. It matters to you, doesn't it?"
"If it's something that helps you experience emotions, or get near to it, then that's a good thing." In a weird kinda way. Maybe it was like playing make believe, being someone else?
Or maybe he was an idiot who didn't even know where to start getting all of this.
"If you enjoy it, it's not pointless."

He closed his eyes as he felt fingers in his hair before he looked up. "It's ok. If you still feel bad, we'll just order room service later. For now, just relax. If you feel up to it, we'll go out later." Walking the strips usually cheered Jan up most of the time. He just didn't want to push him when he felt ill.
