Draping one leg over Terry’s own he snuggled up close to him, fingers laced with the others. “Mmm, that was most of it. Friends so some things did not do. If with boss, or those higher ranking, or older, their glass goes highest. Others go lower...also do not look at them when they drink - look away and drink.” He said thinking back to what they hadn’t done, because they were all classmates so the same age, and all friends. They didn’t work together so some rules had no applied or been done.

“Youngest normally cooks when doing grilling also.” Unless there was a reason for them not to, such as they burned things or whatever else. It was normal for the youngest to serve the older members in that way. With his family the eldest had started the meal off first, so he’d have seen that. With kids at the family meal and no drinking going on the normal cups higher and lower had not really been a thing.

“Normal to drink with co-workers and boss...and glasses not be empty...keep filling them. Have to have to have first drink...can refuse others if for reason. But first is for...unity...of group. Do not pour for self...pour for others always, is rude for them to pour for self. ” He said wondering how to word it all as he spoke. They had a lot of rules dictating how things were done and why and it was hard to remember what had been in the videos for the other to see and not.

“Do not finish meal before eldest...take time. Elder starts and finishes first.” There was a lot they either had not followed because they didn’t have to, as they were friends, or things which had simply not come up. “Do not pick at dishes in middle of table - they are shared...is not polite to pick at them.” A simple and easily understandable rule, as was the next one. “No loud sound at table...Japan you slurp soup...not here.” Not in Korea, it as poor table manners. “Coughing, sneezing...those things - bad at table. Ohhh! No soup or rice bowl off table, stays on table...and no leaving table till meal is done - is rude.” So go to the bathroom before the meal if you think you might need to go. Some rules however with his friends had not been followed , since they’d been drinking a lot and that led to certain needs.

“Think that is lot of basic needs.” He said nodding his head slowly.

Terry kept his eyes on Seung as he listened to the explanations. He nodded a few times to show he was listening and made a few mental notes. There was always the chance that he might have to use part or all of it at some point after all Seung had invited him to go to South Korea for the summer. Also it would be polite to be aware at least if he ever had dinner with the other’s family. “So even if you have a phone call then you should take it at the table or be considered rude?” He asked out of curiosity once the other had finished. “And if the soup and rice bowls have to stay on the table does that mean it’s more polite to leave over the table when eating them?”

“Cell phone is not at table - is rude.” He answered easily. That was not answered at the table. “Some will take selcas at table but not phone call.” He added in to get a bit more detail in there. It was a good question, especially since he had asked Terry if he wanted to come with him this summer. It would make sense for him to ask, as he might just need to know.

“No, food is brought up to you. Leaning down is like a dog.” He didn’t think it was hard to bring the food up to himself but for a first time person, or someone not good with chopsticks...maybe. Something to work on perhaps.

“Makes sense. It’s not exactly polite to answer your cell phone at the table here either, though sometimes the person will just leave the table to answer.” Terry said with a nod. “Selfies just as popular there as it is here I take it?” He asked with a chuckle. He hadn’t gotten into the habit of taking them himself but he didn’t have a problem with others doing it. In fact he enjoyed seeing some people do it like Seung.

He gave a thoughtful nod at the answer. “So it would probably be best if I practiced that before this summer.” More than likely there would be quite a bit to practice before then but it would be worth it.

“More.” He answered about selfies, he knew what they were called here but he was used to the term he used back home, so he kept to it. He had a habit of taking them himself but not nearly as many as his sister did, his cousin was like him - more contained. Like most people though he liked to share pictures of what he was doing, or had done, and sharing his life - to a point with other people.

“Yes, we can work on that. Go out for dinner together and you can get better with chopsticks.” Good enough to eat anything that wound up at a table with chopsticks, aside from soup of course. “Will be easy.” He would teach him and that would be ease, or so he hoped. “More questions?” He liked answering them, obviously, as he let his eyes drop closed, enjoying the others company and the conversation. It was easy and nice.

“I see.” Terry said with a nod. He supposed it wasn’t that surprising in the long run how popular they were. “Sounds good, just let me know when you want to go out so I can practice.” He figured it might be good to have some warning if it was going to be a regular date or a practice one. He lightly rubbed his thumb over Seung’s hand as he thought of what question he might want to ask next. “Hmmm, what type of celebrations do you and your family do for New Years?” He didn’t think he had asked about that in depth just yet.

Lifting his head, to stare up at the other. “Traditional foods, my mother and others spend hours cooking and getting ready. Offerings to elders are made - gifts. Offerings to ancestors as well...the children get gift of money.” Biting down gently on his bottom lip he shifted a bit, not really thinking of how pressed together they were as he did so.

“Morning of New Year tribute paid to ancestors...bow to them and offer food - table for them. Traditional food...done at home for us, others do at grave if they want. Bow to elders also and children get money...elders get gifts. Christian families do not do ancestor offerings. Oh! We all eat Ddeokgook - all age this day when we eat...age 1 year.” He said hoping this explained things to the other. “Most wear modern clothing now but some wear hanbok, made ours this year to wear - expensive to buy. Can rent hanbok though.” He said knowing he had pictures of some pictures on his phone, if the other wanted to see them. He hadn’t sent those to the other, at least not that he knew of...his cousin however might have sent them.

“Traditional games played also by family members. Visit father's family first then mothers. We went to father's day one and day two to mothers parents.” Answer given he did wait to see what the other would think of it. He had seen how new year's was celebrated here normally and it was different than how they celebrated the Lunar New Year.

He had been listening attentively, his attention caught enough that he wasn’t paying attention to how close they were either, but blinked when Seung said they age one year then gave him a questioning look. “What do you mean by age a year?” He asked, not sure if he had understood right. He looked interested at the mention of the traditional clothes and made a mental note to ask Seung if he had any pictures of himself in one. “What kind of games are these?” He thought it was nice that they got to split their days up to spend time with family, depending on how big of a family one had it would be hard to spend quality time with them other wise. He then paused as another question came to mind and he gave the other a small smile. “What is your religion anyway? I don’t think I’ve asked before.”

How to word it, and answer it, properly. “Here...22 years old...back home I am older. We count the time baby is in mother as time...so when baby is born they are year old - not nine months..” He answered before deciding to try and explain it. “So take this year...minus birth year and add a year - that is age. We all age on the Lunar New year - together.” It wasn’t easy to explain, and not just due to language. It was just something he knew and was used to, it was what it was. Again he took a moment to think, of how to explain it and wording, before deciding to explain it to the other.

The games question he shook his head on. “I will show you sometime, better to show than explain. We do fly kites though..other games best to show.” He’d have to make time for that, they could have some fun with that of course. He just needed to get certain things for them, not a lot though as they were simple games.

“No, never asked. My family is Buddhist.” It would explain the temple trip back home and why he went to the one here in Destiny City. He wasn’t strict, his family wasn’t aside from the elder members, but it was what his family followed. “Does not bother you?” He asked, he’d heard of crazy religious people in this country. Not to mention he knew sometimes it could bother someone if their religions didn’t match up, it could...interfere with things or other things.

“Huh.” He thought he got it, or at least mostly got it anyway. “So you would be 23 or 24 in Korea?” He asked. It was certainly different to what he was used to though not in a bad way, just different. When Seung went on to say he would show him the games later he gave a smile and kissed the other’s cheek. “Sounds good to me.” It was usually funner to actually see something rather than hear it be explained anyway.

Terry shook his head at the question. “No, it doesn’t bother me. People believe in different things all the time so why should religion be any different?” He asked with a shrug. His family had quite a few friends and acquaintances that were from different faiths so he had grown up not judging when it came to them. “Besides, after becoming a Knight and finding out I was reincarnated, it would be silly to pick at someone elses beliefs.”

Nodding his head to the others question. “Yes, it would depend...but yes.” Here he had switched, in time, to the American way though it had been something he’d had to drill into his mind in order to remember. His age was different here, he lost a bit of time - oh well. It was one of the things he’d found out when applying to school here and giving his age and his date of birth, they had apparently not added up here. That was when he’d learned the difference and with a quick, and easy, explanation from a translator he understood.

“Good, glad.” he answered the other and let one hand fall to rest at the others waist. “Some people do not like others...do not like what they do not believe or understand - it is human nature.” He stated with a gentle shrug of his shoulders.

“Yes, that is one thing we believe in...is nice to...see or know proof of it.” he said nodding his head to his words.

“I see.” He figured that was probably more than a little confusing when one switched countries only to find out that they were a different age in the new country. Not to mention the confusion of previously being able to do something and then not being able to by law simply because you weren’t old enough anymore.

Terry nodded at Seung’s statements, knowing they were true. “It would be better if we all could either take the time to learn about what others believe or at least agree to disagree and go on with our lives.” He got a tiny blush to his cheeks when he noticed the hand but it disappeared quickly. “Glad to see this war could at least give you proof of it then.” It hadn’t been something he had believed in before he became a Knight but at the same time he hadn’t disbelieved either so it had been easy to accept the truth.

Thankfully the age thing hadn’t stopped him from doing things, that was one good thing. Though it had gotten him into a different school, something before university but not high school. He didn’t mind though, as it allowed him the time he needed to improve his English skills enough to do well in university. Had his English been better, good enough, he would have been a bit bothered if his new age had kept him from university though he’d learned it wouldn’t so all had been well when he’d de-aged...sort of. It had been a bit odd but understandable...still was a bit odd.

“Yes, I appreciate the information, the proof.” He answered with an easy, calm, smile in place. It had been a nice thing to find out, pleasing. To find out something you believed, were taught for years, was true was a big thing really though he hadn’t gone into shock it had been a somewhat calming thing for him.

“Anything else you want know? About holiday, vacation...tradition?” Since they had, it seemed, been covering all sorts of topics in this odd little question and answer, which he was enjoying. he got to rest, which was nice, spend time with Terry and he got to talk about home and tell someone else about his home. It was, almost, perfect.

“Anything else that this war has proven for you in the same way?” He asked after a moment. He didn’t honestly know a lot about Buddhism other than the fact that they did believe in reincarnation. It hadn’t been something he had looked up when he went on his little learning spree while Seung was gone in South Korea.

“Any other holidays that you plan on going back for?” Terry asked after a moment. “Summer vacation isn’t exactly a holiday but do any fall in during the time we will be there?” If so then it would probably be best to be prepared some ahead of time he figured. He was enjoying being able to learn about Seung’s homeland and traditions so he was glad the other didn’t have any problems answering his questions.

“No, nothing else yet.” He answered. There hadn’t been anything else proven, but certainly new things learned. He was sure some other things could be proven in time, he was even more sure of how many new things he’d learn as time went on. There would forever be questions he felt, and an endless quest for answers and knowledge. He wasn’t sure how he felt about that.

“Chuseok I will go back for, so will family. Is September, three days second week this year.” He hadn’t celebrated it this year, his family hadn’t, as they’d only just moved and been very busy. It was perhaps another reason, not that anyone had thought about it at the time, that they’d gone and celebrated the American Thanksgiving in November. Maybe it wasn’t though, maybe it was just wanting to fit and try and American tradition, to learn about it as well. “June has memorial day and August Liberation day…” He said easily. Most were not in the summer, which was perhaps a good thing? Perhaps not if Terry wanted to see a Korean holiday, though if anything he’d rather take him for New Years to celebrate that, as it was a bigger and more celebrated thing. “Can come for that perhaps…” He said slowly, not sure how that would go with his family, especially the older more traditional members. he was sure he could talk to them and maybe work something out, if the other wanted to come.
