As far as assignments went at this new school so far, this one wasn't as terrible as all the others Tricia had to do. She thought about what colors she would pick, then settled on magenta and green. "I guess I would pick magenta and green. They both are bright and pop on their own, but together, they play off each others brightness. It can hurt your eyes to look at them together sometimes, but they're pretty cool together."

Matilda used her colored sketching pencils to stick red and green next to each other before switching to her favorite pen before setting off to write her response. -- Red and green are complimentary colors according to the traditional color star. That's why covering up a red pimple with a bit of green-tinted concealer 'corrects' the red tone into more of a brown, which is easier to cover up with a thicker skin-tone concealer.

Quartz pondered for a moment. She had so many colors she liked, it was hard to pick just one. "Citrines," she finally stated. "They're usually a kind of yellow gold, and they look like little pieces of sunshine. I don't know if citrine is also a color though, so I guess my answer is yellow gold."

Laurel decided to go with azure and orange, since they were such pretty colors and looked quite nice together. It was odd to think that combining them would essentially cancel them out. She finished writing her paper and marking the colors down as best she could. Flax was more the artist than she. She honestly would have just called the azure blue, but apparently blue was already taken and too busy canceling out yellow. That's what it looked like on the color wheel after all, but didn't those colors make green? She would have to ask Flax about this later.

Samara was coloring rose and spring green on her paper. It was kind of hard to get right since they were mixed colors, but she had loved the way they looked and wanted to use them regardless. Hopefully she did a good enough job at it, and her colors wouldn't be mistaken for different colors that weren't complementary, or this would be a lot of effort for nothing! She made sure to write the names by the colors, just in case.

Response: Art really wasn't her forte, but she didn't mind finding some more interesting pieces. She wished that she was this artistic, but she was bad with multiple colors. Who knew what would happened if she worked with just shades of a single color? "I wanted to focus on paintings, especially landscapes" the geist said as she presented her three pieces.

Ayuu sat straight in zir seat, all of zir attention on the class's hybrid instructor. While zir intended major was music, the grimm had grown rather fond of the more physical arts after spending time with Bo, and ze wanted to understand as much about drawing and painting as ze could.
Ze recalled that traditional complements were opposite one another on the color wheel, so ze drew out an incredibly rudimentary wheel, labeling it with text instead of markers or colored pencils. Red and green, blue and orange, yellow and purple. Normally, Ayuu favored blue, but paired with orange even zir favorite color seemed garish.
Ze tapped the word yellow with a claw, leaning over to get a couple of tubes of paint out of zir bag. In order to keep from overwhelming the yellow, the purple ze chose would need to be fairly pale. Ayuu nodded as ze daubed the paint on zir paper. Springlike. It was fitting.
Response: Aren didn't think that this assignment was too hard. He knew his colors and all he had to do was find a picture that was all one color. That was simple it only took him a little while to find a few. Sometimes he remembered why he took art as one of his electives, it was so EASY!

Name: Flax Response: Out of anything, Flax hated doing presentations in art. However, at least he wasn't presenting his own art. Although he wanted to be an illustrator, he was still very shy about showing his work. He strived to be more accurate with his drawings, more realistic. So, for this project, he had chosen to use photorealism as his topic.
"Photorealism is a type of painting or drawing that looks realistic," the Nixie explained, showing off a sample of photorealism. "This drawing was done entirely by pencil. It's usually done with a photograph as reference, which is why it's so realistic, but the artist also needs the skills to make the drawing look real. It's the kind of style I'd like my work to look like some day."

Newt stood up in the front of the class and clears his throat nervously. Digging into his pocket he pulls out a little wooden figurine. Though the item was tiny, it still held marks in it that were rough and still obviously a beginners work.
"Um. I like wood carving. It takes some practice and skill to get used to it and how to carve the pieces out so they look right. And mess-ups aren't allowed. If you mess up, you gotta start all over. Sometimes you gotta wait weeks before you can find the right sized wood too. And the cuts." He held up his other hand with scars and new bandages, "Those take some getting used to as well." He lowers his hand and stuffs the figurine back into his pocket, "That's all." The hybrid shifted nervously and then proceeded to shuffle back to his seat.
Ah! It was her turn! Standing up, Litla barely avoided sending her chair over. Haha! Not this class!
"I like abstract art." Okay, easy enough. Now... what? Oh, shoot, she had to explain why. Right, right. "I like trying to consider what it was the artist was trying to convey with their piece. Abstract art allows room for interoperation, and.... while that can be stressful at times because I worry I'm observing the art incorrectly.... it's a nice feeling knowing that you can't really go wrong. Everyone sees that picture differently, and it's a reminder we're all so different, and how wonderful that is."
With that, she brushed her dress off and quickly sat down, hiding her face from the rest of the students.

"JenZee has to be my absolute favorite artist! She makes such wonderful art for all the games her company puts out. I've never been much of an artist, or much in to video games. but Super Giant Games has always been, and will continue to be one of the few game companies I follow. I can't wait for their game Pyre to be released! I love her composition, how you can see each visible stroke like a painting ... eeeeeh! It's absolutely breath taking~!"
