"We'll just grab something simple, then," said Chance lightly as they stepped into the living room area. "Something too heavy. Maybe we'll just leave everyone's stuff at the portal, tell them to come and pick it up, otherwise we're going to have to make several trips."

His eyes moved over the options. "Well, I'm starting to get hungry, so after we buy everything, we can snag something - oh, how about this?"

Chance pointed at one in particular, glancing back at Otto with his eyebrows raised.

"Sounds like a plan. It's gunna be a pain just getting it to the portal." This is what he gets for being 'helpful', he supposed. Still, no regrets.... yet. The sun and heat would ensure that changed.

"That'll do." Otto nodded, hefting the disassembled desk in a box and placing it in the cart. Passing the kid's section again, Otto found a pack of markers made for writing on windows. He gave them a long and considering stare. "Oh... lamps. Want a lamp? The kid's stuff as some cool s**t.."

The box for the desk took up a good chunk of what space was left in their cart. Chance gave the markers an amused look; or rather, he gave Otto looking at the markers an amused look.

"I'm good with the lamp I have, plus I got those new star lights," he said, but he trailed off, distracted by a large bin of what appeared to be stuffed animals of all shapes and sizes. Chance reached in, digging around and pulling one out at at time to give it a scrutinizing look, an expression of childish curiosity on his face.

Otto, not liking to admit he had a fondness for plushes, was going to scoff and tease Chance for his interest. However, that all changed when he saw a Skull shaped pillow.

He yanked it out immediately and tossed it over his shoulder.

Into the cart it went.

No one would notice.... hey, when did those markers get in there?

Chance didn't notice the skull pillow, busy examining a particularly soft, black and white cat plush with probably more interest than a twenty-three year old man would normally have. He either didn't notice or didn't care about the amused looks he was getting from passers by, and Chance turned around, looking pleased as he plunked the cat plush into the cart along with the rest of the things.

"Okay, let's go grab the mirror for Chel," he said cheerfully.

"Sounds like a plan." Save from whistling to cover up his impulse grabs, he walked with the cart a little further down. Mirrors came in all shapes and sizes, and he wondered if he ought to even attempt at finding something in a style Chel would like; seeing as he didn't know her style in the least. Maybe normal mirrors would do.

"She said as big of one as we can find.. n' she just said she don't care if it's expensive.."

And he'd also just gotten permission to draw as many dicks and butts on it as he pleased. Even better. Catching Al's last minute request, he raised a brow and went wandering to find a bean bag chair.

Chance had slid his arm back loosely around Otto's waist as they walked, lips pressed together in thought as he eyed the mirrors that came into view within a few minutes of walking.

"What kinda mirror would she like..." he murmured, gaze sweeping this way and that. "I don't even have a mirror myself, let's see..."

Chance slowed his steps. "What about either like...something like that one," he said, pointing, "Or does she want something more like that one over there?"

"Hmm... I dunno about either of them. Just goin' by Twitter, she seems a lot more lively than either of those." With Jordan it had been easy. Sleek and simple seemed to fit him just fine. Chel...

"I said I was gunna draw dicks on her mirror and she actually got excited. So I dunno man..."

"I say we go with the first, then," said Chance with a little laugh. "It's pretty simple, and it's not too frilly and will be an excellent canvas should you choose to draw dicks on her mirror."

He reached over and dragged one of the boxes out, propping it up beside the cart with a questioning look at Otto.

"Sounds good." If it wasn't big enough, then... well. Too bad for her. He and Chance could only carry so much, anyway. He looked at the large mirror, the cart, and Chance. The latter seemed to stare at him with as much question as he was.

"Uh..." He held his chin in hand, brows knit. "I uhm... hmm.."

"Bottom rack?"

One eyebrow raised.

"Bottom rack it is" Chance said, resisting the urge to make an inappropriate comment; but he bent down and shoved the box into the space beneath the rest of the cart. It fit, though it stuck out a little in front. He straightened and brushed his hands together.

"Okay, I think we might be just about finished with furniture shopping. Ready to pay and eat?"

"Yeah. I think we're good for today." They really would need a sled to drag it back with. Future Otto's problem. With Chance's help, they headed back towards the pay counter; and food.

As much as Otto tried to ignore the impulse buy racks in the line up, more knick knacks mysteriously appeared in the cart. It was all so strange. And mysterious.

After much shifting of bags and the like, they were ready to finally rest up at lunch. At least they could keep the cart for now. Otto got them a table and sat with a thud. "Ugh.. draining.. maybe we can nab the cart off the parking lot n' bring it back later..."

Chance said nothing about the mysterious additions to their purchases, but he did give them an amused look, quietly noting them away for future reference.

By the time they got through the line and had everything boxed and bagged up, it was definitely time for food. Chance let Otto find a table and went to get the food, returning a few moments later with several plates in hand and two drinks tucked in his arm.

"Think anyone would notice if we just stole one of the carts?" he said with a laugh, passing over a water bottle. "Here, I got meatballs and some chocolate cake, those looked the best."

"Maybe. Either way, we'll have to use it." Because neither of them had ten arms.

"Yaaaaaay.." He yawned, dragging the plate closer. "Thanks." It looked delicious. Chance knew the man's tastes, for sure. He ate right away, staring out a window at the hot pavement outside. "Ain't lookin' forward to goin' out in that again.."

He was, however, looking forward to getting Chance's room set up. It was going to have a much homier feel to it from now on. A real reflection of Chance's personality. And less like visiting a friend at the looney bin.

"We'll make it fast," Chance said thickly around his bite of meatballs. They really were very good. "Maybe if we just focus on getting to the portal and don't think about anything else, we'll get there faster."

Or maybe not. But that was beside the point.

The meatballs were good, the cake even better, strangely tasty for a place in a furniture store. Chance deposited their finished plates in the trash can afterwards, guzzling water and looking at their cart with a mixture of amusement and resignation.

"All right," he said, taking a breath. "Let's marathon this s**t. Ready?"
