"I'm up, I'm up," he assures her, even as he grits his teeth to straighten up and actually be useful. His arm is a useless noodle, but he can walk. He pulls up, fighting against the heavy armor and rotaries that control the legs. He falls back into the rhythm though.
No arm, no problem.
He puts his weight into kneeing up at the kaiju with all the speed the Soldier can muster. Howler screams a bloodied gurgle at it connects and tries jerking the jaeger off balance, but Chris already has his foot back down and locked in place. "Take the rest of it's head off!"

There's a long moment as the kaiju falls backwards (slow, so slow) and the jaeger rights itself, Chris steadies it. The fact that Jack is chiding them for repair damages is a good sign; if he has time to nag it means it's not serious yet.
But then, it's not over.
Chel can hear the worry in her voice and she apologizes back to Chris for being distracted by it. They're even though; neither really needs to apologize.
It's too slow to get a hit in. Another apology, but it's the logical move. Lunging now would mean they'd be right in the crossfire of that tail-
That's it. Chel slams her hand down and the tail comes, as predicted, but Chel's ready this time. Moments before the two appendages collide, Chel activates their sword and fires everything she's got. The tail's sliced off and Chel has never been so satisfied to watch part of a kaiju go down. Now they have a fighting chance.
