Lass's expression was a little disappointed as the mention of no food being at the cottage rose from the kid's lips and when the other knight still refused to share the chicken. This was starting to become the last place next to the dungeon she wanted to be at. Maybe when no one was looking she would just cook the chicken she thought as she followed the prissy knight and the kid out into the garden. It was quite lovely if you took the time to look around and if you were in to that kinda of romantic thing. Lass was not, not until the kid pulled the sword out of the stone and some knight she had yet to met spoke something about the one true king.
She stared in doubt as she folded her hands over her chest. "Greeaaatttt," Lass rolled her eyes, just what the entire kingdom needed some snot nose brat being in charge. "If he is the king, why is he here and not at the castle in the first place? Isn't he suppose to be in charge? I mean who is really leading at the castle?" She paused, a whole lot of questions kept coming to her mind, what was really going on anymore, whose orders were what. Argh, it was all becoming really really confusing and she was starting to hate a lot of things more.
"Also please stop mentioning soup still hungry here."

The hunger Sammy had was mildly tempered by Riley's protection of the chicken, that was the Riley she knew, not the one who looked like a blood starved beast in the pits of the castle mad with insanity, or power.
"Fine fine I'll drop the talk of...Cluckington being dinner," she was going to turn towards the door and leave when the child made his presence known. The boy couldn't be even half their age, he seemed calm, a bit startled, and Zar (whom Sammy did not originally know by name till he announced himself) was making him a bit skittish.
She didn't really say much but simply followed along through the garden, her eyes keen for more chickens or any other small animal that could be turned into supper. Finally they reached the stone and the boy, the young Arthur hoisted the sword from the stone.
"Royalty can be whoever trumps the current King Zar. Blood first, hostile takeover second, or in this case feats magical quality."
Finally she turned to Arthur, "The other thing we have to take into account, we saw Morgan... become something else. We have no memories. Who's to say the Arthur we thought we pledged our lives to wasn't the real one and this is? Or that we haven't stumbled through time its self?"
She paused for a moment, "Do you mind if I try the sword Arthur?"

Arthur stared at Sammy talk with wide eyes, all of it going right over his head, despite nodding.
"All right," he said, a little more reluctantly than needed, slowly dragging the sword over to Sammy, "but it's mine! You can just- just touch it a little." It was like a kid with their prized toy.
The name of the sword engraved on the side was Caliburn.

The kid's eyes widened like dinner saucers as Lass mentioned a castle. "You-you guys have a castle?" He immediately found his new best friend ever. "Can I come?"

The name was rather.... well that wasn't the name she had expected on the side but none the less she walked over to the sword wiggling through the brush and bramblesto grasp it giving it a tug to see if she could lift it.

"Sammy, stop that." Riley hissed, trying to push her away from it. To the child, Riley set on her serious face and repeated the question. "How old are you, Arthur." He hadn't answered, and her suspicion was rising.
"Oh I see I'm the bad guy here." Zar said, rolling his eyes. "Yet I'm not the one stealing the child's toys or demanding things of him when he's already implied rather clumsily he shouldn't say anything about anything to us." He made a slightly concerned face.
"Perhaps I should have taken my chances in the forest."

"How long have you lived here? And have you ever left this cottage?" Lass spoke in a rather slow manner not wanting to keep the kid from Zar's charge. Kids were not her forte and he was likely better with the priss pants, there was also the question how the hell did he never see the oversized stone walls in the middle of the forest somewhere. Didn't people tell him? Where did he think kings live anyways?
"There is a castle yes, you can come, maybe? It is sort of taken over by some overly enthusiastic knights and there is a really good chance you would die while we try to get this guy's friend out of the dungeon aanndd maybe some other knights." Tossing a finger at Zar, she had no one she considered a friend and no real reason to risk life other than duty.
"He absolutely can not come." Riley whined out to the man who seemed intent on continuing to talk to the child as if it was just a child, and nothing more. The signs were making her paranoid, and she could tell by the way her voice grew in strength, and her ability to look into their eyes without flinching. This was serious.
She reached out and grabbed Johan's arm without thinking, pulling him close enough to whisper. "This isn't real. We need to get out of here." She begged, trying to get him to understand. But the moment she realized what she was doing, her face burned a violent shade of red, and she let go of him instantly. That was a mistake..

Following the herd seemed to be a good plan for the time being. Especially when a decidedly non-knight had returned to reclaim his home. Well, that solved the mystery of why there was a furnished cottage in the middle of the spooky woods.
After they'd followed out the back door, Szczeosny continued to look around the garden, idly listening to the conversation. It made a substantial amount of background noise for his thoughts - mostly bickering, asking what the kid's favorite something was (or not), and so on. Very informative. Even without threat of monsters, how could such a distractable kid maintain a garden like this? Even though he had already claimed to be living here on his own, Szczeosny was not convinced yet that a horticultural child genius was living out in a dangerous forest by himself. "Why did you ask if we were witches, Arthur?" he asked slowly, reaching to pick a nearby flower. "Have you... seen any witches around here?"
Lass looked over at the rather polite and seemingly cute female knight and shrugged as if she would really care either way. "I thought the words good chance you would die was saying in a nice way he should stay here. I am not taking care of him, leaving that to fancy pants. Like I said earlier," moving closer to Johan and Riley as if to butt in on their sweet bashful moment, "who said he was a kid?" Lass's eyes narrowed before looking back at Zar and Arthur, something was wrong but it was not something she could put her finger on.

Johan was suddenly yanked to one side by Riley. When he heard what she whispered, he looked at her, and was surprised to see the fear in her face. Which was just as suddenly consumed by a rising blush. Johan looked back toward the child and back to Riley. He saw an innocent youth. Potentially a future King. Someone he should protect, especially when they'd stumbled into his home, exposing him to the danger that could follow from Camelot.
And yet, Riley was clearly distressed. Johan gently took her arm and moved her away from the group for a little privacy. They were joined by the red-headed lady Knight.
"Do you think this child is some Sidhe trickery? I admit the circumstances are awfully convenient. But if the King really left Camelot, what better reason to do so than to visit his child?" he whispered to them. He really didn't want it to be so. And then it hit him. "The Prophecy! The Legacy of the Great King!"

Johan had no idea of Riley's aversion to touch - and why would he? The two instances he'd dealt with her had her instigating some form of interaction, because of the priority involved. When he took her by the arm, however, her muscles tensed helplessly and she stopped breathing. She could barely hear him over the sound of her own heartbeat throbbing in her ears, and she took a shuddering breath to try and force her anxiety levels down. She had to get through this, for her friends, and for herself.
"Morgana took my mind in a heartbeat, and there was nothing I could do about it. She is powerful, and we cannot even be sure she's the most powerful trickster among us. This child out here, alone like this, it doesn't make sense. He only answers when we mention the castle, and to tell him more would be putting our friends in danger."
Lass joined them, and Riley shook her head quickly. "I don't believe him to be. And I don't believe that weapon to be safe. We need to leave. Now."

Arthur was getting increasingly scared of all the angry yelling voices around him, and he continued to quiver behind Zar, rubbing his grubby hands all over the knight. "I'm eight and a half," he trailed off, taking another step back as people asked him questions about trickery, "And my fa-- and I heard that witches were evil and I shouldn't go near them. They do bad things and cast curses and spells and that is why I can't leave this house."
He shuffled around awkwardly as they kept on talking. "A-are you having an adult conversation? I can leave, I didn't want to make anyone upset."
He had totally forgotten about the sword, which Sammy found she could actually lift, and was pretty much a sword, blunted at all edges.

"All of you need to calm down." She said it almost like she was bored, more like frustrated and instead resulted in a deadpan response as she walked back to the stone still holding the boys sword. It was blunt granted, no good for fighting, and it didn't FEEL special in any sort of way. Flipping it aroundshe tried to place the sword back in the stone before trying to pull it back out herself.
"Your making the kid worry, and you're fighting amongst each other, that won't save the others back at the castle."
