Yvette smiled at her little brother. He was so cute. "Nathan can you help me get back to the bed now?" She asked him. He was so sweet and helpful. She had a lot of faith in him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tabby gave a sad smile. Lucy didn't want this to happen to her and it was some comfort that her daughter would be in good hands. "That's a lot of ifs." She stopped the girl from talking. "Lucy, could you show me to the library. If I really will not be living long the least I can do for you and your siblings is break the curse. I didn't go to college for nothing. By the time I can do it I hope to give your mother once last proof that my line will live on or as some may say 'the last laugh'." The woman told the junior. "May Yvette is right. If I can have surgery to free myself of this bug then I should have another child. I just don't have someone I want a child with more than your father. Maybe I should adopt and leave those eggs for someone else." She huffed out depressingly. "If I should not have the chance, I die without ever knowing if your father loved me and if Yvette is truly a produce of some foolish teen romance."

Nathan gave another grin, offering his arm to his older sister as he helped her back into the bed. He knew that Caesar was following, but had no clue that the older man was actually supporting most of Yvette's weight. It would be a few more years before Nathan could do this sort of thing himself. "I can't wait for the celebration dinner!" he said once she was settled, his thoughts quickly switching to the next most interesting thing to happen soon.
Lucianna looked to her as she spoke, her eyes watery with the frustration that she couldn't do anything herself to help. This whole thing was out of her hands; she was powerless to help. Still, she would aspire to be more like Tabitha. Even with this new, the other woman still wanted to help others. "You think it can be done?" she asked softly, surprise in her voice. It was followed by a smile as she heard her reference to getting the last laugh. Even though the young siren loved her mother, she knew that Tabitha deserved to get in at least one more jab. Seth really had done her wrong.
Speaking of him, Lucy listened as Tabby considered the idea of having another child. If she were cancer free, it would be a blessing; adding a child would only expand on that blessing. "He did love you." she added after a moment, her mind recalling something that she knew should remain a secret from Tabby. Still, Lucy spoke up, knowing that she deserved the truth. "Follow me." she said quietly before checking for any guards. None were in the hallway, so the princess took advantage of the emptiness to lead Yvette into a room a few doors down.
Once inside, she shut the door, explaining, "This is one of our art rooms. All the artwork outside changes every few months, this is where all the stuff not out there is stored." She gave a small smile as she walked deeper into the huge room, clearly searching for a particular picture. Maybe later she would bring Elendil here; he'd love all the different styles and there were several landscapes that she knew he would appreciate. Finally, after a few minutes, Lucy found what she was searching for. Blowing off the dust, she turned to give it to Tabitha. The painting featured Tabby, her pink hair pink up underneath a crown. Seth stood behind her as she sat comfortably on a throne, one hand on her shoulder. They were not drawn as teenagers, but fully grown, clearly as a couple who had been together for years.
"I found it last year. My father said he had it painted during the war by my cousin." Aurora had taken up painting, initially to impress a certain man, but proved to actually have some talent. She and Seth had always been close, so when he asked for her to illustrate his feelings, she did so beautifully. Unfortunately, with the war over and things finally settling down, Seth never gained the courage to give the painting to Tabitha. "He told me it was just him letting go of the past. I think he just didn't want my mother to see it and have cause to fight against Yvette's claim. But I know better, he'll never really let go of love. That's the siren way." Her father would always pick duty of his own personal wishes; it was the only thing he could do to make up for the things he had done when he was younger.

Yvette reached the bed again and laid down. Before leaning back she picked up her brother and put him down next to her before demanding for her children. "I think that's enough visiting for now. Everyone is welcome to come back tomorrow." She told everyone. She may be a bit of diva, but she was one who just gave birth. Once the room cleared a bit she turned to Nathan. "I'm going to tell you a story." She told him with a smile. "This one happened in China a long time ago." She added. She wanted to give her brother a message. "Once upon a time, there was a king who died suddenly. He left behind a very young son, who was much too young to rule. The king's brother, Lord Zhou said that he would rule until the boy was old enough." Yvette told her story. "No one believed he would keep his word. They thought he would take the throne for himself and for fourteen years they waited for the prince to grow and for Lord Zhou to take the throne. The prince grew and grew, until he was old enough to take the throne and when the moment came, Lord Zhou stepped to the side and allowed his nephew to take the throne." She continued the tale. "Lord Zhou was faithful to his words when everyone else doubted him. I hope you can grow up to be like Lord Zhou, Nathan." Yvette told her little brother. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tabby followed Lucy towards the painting room and was surprised by the painting. Upon hearing Lucy's story she smiled softly. "Thank you sweetie, but I want to hear it from his lips." She said before stepping away. "I think I can break the curse a little. I would need to try to find the origin. Then I can try to find a way to break the curse or at least weaken it." The woman promised.

Caesar helped to usher everyone out, including his own large family. There were a few 'awwws,' especially from the king, but eventually everyone promised to return early tomorrow and gave the princess time to rest. Nathan was extremely proud to be allowed to stay for awhile more; so when Yvette began to speak, he listened closely. At first, the young prince didn't understand the story. He wasn't sure how Lord Zhou was supposed to be like him. Then, in an instant, he caught the meaning. Yvette was reminding him that she was going to be Queen. "Do not worry, Yvette. I know that you are supposed to rule. Lucy and father have told me again and again and again." Clearly, the boy had been told such so often that he was beginning to be annoyed; why were they all so concerned that he would be mean to his sister? Nathan would never be the bully, not when Lucy told him that bullies never get toys or cake, or anything really.
"So go ask him." she told the older woman, unsure of what exactly was driving her intentions. It wasn't like Lucy wanted her father to leave her mother, but she knew that closure was the only fix for heartache. Someday, Lucy knew she would need the same thing with Elendil...
"The curse is hundreds of years old." she said after a moment, leading Tabby out of the room and back into the hallway. "Come on, I'll tell you the story on the way to the library." she added, leading the way across the palace as she spoke. "During the Siren Rebellion, which was the war that ended the reign of mermen, my ancestor Bernardino Solindo was vying to be king. He made alliances with four powerful families; Nunez, Roberto, Telles, and Vazques. He promised them all titles and wealth. They gave him loyalty in return. With so much help, Bernardino easily managed to gain the upper hand in the war. His forces were well fed and armed. The mermen fell back time and time again, until Bernardino's forces happened upon this palace." Half of the castle was underwater, leading out into the ocean where history says the surviving merpeople escaped to the other side of the world. Lucy decided to skip these parts of the story, instead choosing to focus on the facts about the curse.
"Here, Bernardino fought bravely, but it was a member of the Vazques family that struck down the mer-king. He wanted to take the title of ruler for himself, even after his pledge of loyalty. So Bernardino killed him swiftly, as an example to anybody who thought about betrayal. The rest of the Vazques family was pardoned, even Bernardino would not be foolish enough to kill them all because of the actions of one greedy boy. Perhaps he should have, though, because it was a Vazques who managed to curse our family."

((BTW that was a true story)) Yvette sighed. It wasn't herself that she was concern about. "The same for Isabella and Christian?" She asked him with a smile. Hoping that he would figure out that it was about them and not her. "Pinkie promise?"~~~~~~~~ Tabby laughed. "I want to here it without him being encourage. I want hear him say it?" She told the girl. That was what she wanted. To hear Seth tell her without any doubt or second thoughts. The women walked together for a bit as Lucy started the story. "Only a hundred, you make this too easy." The witch commented as they walked down the halls. She took then the story and started to form more questions to the thought. "What type of curse did they use? Do you know anything about the curse itself? Are the Vasquez nobles? Has anyone in this family married someone from that family? If I need to find the family where can I find them and would they be able to break the curse? Who did they side with when the question of the heir to your father arose? Are we sure it wasn't the mermaids who cursed the family?" Tabby had a lot of questions, but it would help her in her next steps.

Nathan was actually taken aback for a few moments. The thought that he could be mean to the babies hadn't even crossed the boy's mind. Quickly, he linked pinkies with Yvette, earnest to prove that he wouldn't even go back on his word. Especially a pinkie swear. "The same for Isabella and Christian!"
Lucy couldn't help but smile at Tabby's last comment about her father. She wondered if he ever would say such a thing to Tabitha...she wondered if she'd want to know if he did...It was such a sad story between the two of them; Lucy truly understood just how classically siren like her family was.
"Hundreds," she said, correcting the older woman as she emphasized the 's' at the end of the word. It was such an old tale in the family's history that she was forced to reconsider a few things as Tabby asked her questions. "It wasn't the merpeople. Those that heard the curse knew that it was siren magic, far more beautiful than any sound. Despite the pardons, only one Vazquez was allowed to marry into nobility, a woman named Rosalin?...maybe Rosita? I can't remember. She married a Telle, though." Lucy's memory of the lesson wasn't as sharp as her father's, but she did her best to provide the answers she did know. "You can try to track the lineage, but our scholars have been trying to narrow the search since the curse began."
Lucy took a pause to collect her memories, recalling the days she was still forced to sit in a room and study. "The curse had thought have been broken twice. The first occasion was almost two hundred years ago, when the queen of time gave birth to twin boys. One died before the age of three." She paused, giving a moment of silence for the infant that had died so long ago. "The only other recorded instance was my father's own birth...But my uncle Victor and his wife were killed before he could become king. Many of the people believed it was the natural punishment for having two boys in the same generation, as if the curse was responsible for his fate." This time, she was silent for far longer. Victor had died long before Lucy was born, but she knew how important he had been to her father. Seth had never forgiven himself; he had always believed that his life had cancelled out his brother's, and unfortunately, Lucy knew that it was likely the truth; even if it was technically the curse's fault.

Yvette smiled and after they crossed pinkies, she leaned over and kissed her brother's forehead. "Thanks. Well off to bed you go. Sweet dreams." She told her brother. She finally lifted her shirt and allowed the twins to suckle for first time. She smiled at her husband. "We're finally parents." She said with a happy sigh. ~~~~~~~~ Tabby took notes on what Lucy told her. "What about the other members of the Vazquez family? Where are they now?" Maybe she could contact them. The Vazquez family wouldn't deal with those who had no reason to be treated with. Maybe it was time Tabby gave a reason for them to break the curse. "If the family is known then who did they support for the future king. Yvette or Nathan."

Nathan shot a grin to his eldest sister before sliding off the side off the side of bed. Before he left though, he gave a small wave to each of the twins and a hug to Ceasar as well. Once he was gone, the prince consort spoke to his wife. "We are." he agreed, his tone still light with happiness as he moved to sit beside Yvette once more. "I can still remember the day we met, then when we crossed paths again. Our first date, first kiss, the first time we made love. Our wedding...Everything led up to this moment." he spoke softly, not wanting to disturb the twin's feeding. Caesar just felt overwhelmed with the fact that he was a father; it felt like a tidal wave crashing against him, but instead of being hurt, he couldn't imagine being any happier.
Lucy considered her words, doing her best to dig up any remaining facts about the curse. "I doubt they would support either one. The hatred of my family is a power in the curse; it must still be deeply rooted in the Vazquez family for the curse to continue on so strongly. I have no clue where they would be...Your best bet of finding someone of direct lineage in our records would be to find the descents of the woman who married the Telle."

Yvette giggled. "I hated being the princess when we met. All I wanted was for my parents to be together. I thought my father a coward for not picking my mom, now I know that he was just bound by his duty. He could throw his wife away for some woman he had a child with." She commented. It didn't mean it didn't hurt any less. "To tell a little secret. My mom was pregnant once after me. She lost the child at birth." The princess told her husband in secret. "I do not know who the father was, but that it was a girl. My mom doesn't know that I remember that. Sometimes I wonder if she would have been happy with that man. It was around the same time Lucy being born." ~~~~~~~~ Tabby chuckled at Lucy. "Oh my dear. You think words will win them to my side. Action in this case will speak louder than words." Tabby told the girl as she brushed back her hair. "I'll make a deal with then." She declared. "What they want is power. You dangle it in front of them. I'll make a deal to introduce some descendants to Yvette and make a couple of their little ones playmates with hers. The hope will be that maybe one of them will be picked for a future consort." Tabby told her.

[ Caesar gave a nod at the memory, remembering clearly just how badly Yvette did not care about her royal status, but instead wanted her parents to be together. What she next, however, was news to him. "I had no idea...I'm so sorry for her loss." He wondered who the father would have been; and did he leave her before or after Tabby lost the child? Caesar couldn't imagine that pain, not when he sat beside the opposite, pure joy. And to think, there could have been another half sister for Lucy, one who would have been the same age. "Maybe someday your mother can try again." he wondered aloud, curious as to who Tabby had been with at the time.
Lucy listened, her eyes widening slightly as she realized just how well the plan would work. "Anybody would accept that offer. Ms. Kent, you may very well be on to something." She could help but feel excited at the prospect of the curse lifting. If it was gone, she would have a fair chance at having her own son...of course, she pushed away the idea that it would be a child of a man other than Elendil. That was something to worry about later. For now, she knew that the curse itself was the priority.

Yvette looked at her husband. "I never got a chance to know her, so I don't miss her at all. I was just a kid and I still had Lucy." The woman had no feels for the lost, her mother probably did, but she didn't. "I also have Nathan now and you and these two." The woman said with joy. One moment didn't make a lifetime. "I'm sure my mother will try for one more. She has to. Her body is healthy." ~~~~~~~~~~ Tabby's smile grew wider. "We may even be able to break the curse for your father's last try." The woman added. "When the children reach sexual maturity, that will be the first chance for the family to strike. All they'd have to do is subdue one of the kids, but that's where you step in. Make sure that the kids are never left alone with a member of that family near by."

Caesar nodded in understanding, although he couldn't help but sympathize. It had to have been very difficult, he thought, to watch the queen give birth and raise a child at the same time she should have as well. Life was truly interesting. "I think she will." he said, agreeing with Yvette's assumptions. "She's still got lots of time. Maybe she'll even have more than one child."
Lucy continued to smile as she conspired with Tabby, her mood rising with every passing second. There was truly a chance that this could work. "I promise to be the best chaperon." she said, raising one hand to mimic a swear.

Yvette smiled and looked at her husband. " We also have a chance for plenty more kids. I think one more will be great." The woman commented. She didn't want a huge family, but three seemed to her to be the right number. ~~~~ Tabby smiled. "Good. I'll depend on you to end the cycle of teen pregnancies." The woman commented. She was just 14 when she had her little lady. "If Isabel and Christian marry into different families, then their children will need to be playmates with the next generation. This will go on and on tell there is marriage into the family. Only then will the curse be truly broken."

Three sounded like a good number, but he couldn't help but consider one thing. "What if we get another set of these?" he asked jokingly, motioning towards their newborns. He supposed that even if they did, four would still be a manageable number. It would be tough once Yvette was Queen, but Caesar would always keep true to his promise; he would always support her, and care for their children.
Lucy grinned, waving off Tabby's words with her own. "Don't worry. I'll make sure that they're very careful." Using both science and magic to prevent any unwanted pregnancies, Lucianna knew that she would not be having a child before she was ready. So naturally, when the time came, she would be making sure that little Isabel and Christian would know how to be safe, just in case they do manage to run off with someone when she isn't looking.
Refocusing her thoughts back to the matter of the curse, she nodded slowly in understanding of Tabby's statement. It may take a couple generations for trust to emerge between her family and the Vazquez, but eventually, she hoped...no, she was sure it would work. Then, there would be no reasoning behind the way their country was run; no more of this artificial "men are rare and more important," ideology. Her people would be equal among themselves, and Yvette's descendants would face no more opposition.

Yvette giggled at his comment. Their first set ended with a two-for-one deal and their next set could as well. "Well the chances are greater now," She commented with a grin. "but if we have twins again what can we do? They'll need someone to watch a love them and I don't think either of us have the heart to put one up for adoption." She answered her husband. ~~~~~~~ "We can start this now is the best part. Nathan could use a playmate, while we have to be careful that the family doesn't start to show support for Nathan over the twins and we'd have to make sure they knew. Otherwise they could show support for Nathan and create another conflict in a bid for power." The woman commented, making plans.
