it felt so unusual, but she did have to admit was amusing watch the employee scramble to find something good enough. When she did, it was straight to the changing rooms. It would take a while; there were quite a handful of outfits. During that time, she insisted that the employee help her sister out, too.
When she stepped out, she was clad in some cleverly designed, geometrically paneled leather attire. Her half shaved asymmetrical bob complimented her outfit nicely. It was entirely black, seeing as she wasn’t as willing to abandon her old style yet. Her first priority was to step up her style while maintaining the old theme; she’d work on the formals after; they’d be the least fun.
“I feel like a prized chinchilla,” she said. smiling and setting her hands over her hips in a heroic position, whatever would give her sister a good laugh. ”What do you think?”

She watched the woman throw tons of outfits towards her sister, and she simply smiled. Sure, the woman had brought her outfits too, but she had yet to try any of hers on. She wanted to see her sister do it first, pave the way. But she had never expected her to come out looking like that --- "You look like one." She said plainly. Talia could be ever so slightly blunt at times, speaking her mind rather then keeping things hidden. But she could also keep things quiet and unknown, it depended on her mood and her company. She did not often outright hide things from her sister, and for good reason. Her sister was her best friend. "But you look grown up." She added. Turning towards her own selection, she grimaced with horror when she saw the bright pastels. But, gathering her courage, she walked into the dressing room and a few moments later came out in a soft pink casual day dress. Without all the black on she actually looked like a little girl. She looked towards her sister, feeling a bit out of place. Until, she spotted an accessory table right next to the dressing rooms, she quickly grabbed a couple things and walked back to her sister. She put on a black steampunk looking belt, and added a dark metal necklace. It brought the girly aspect down a little.

Kahley looked around. Earth was probably her favourite planet (besides her own). It was just so...well, she was a teenager here. That counts for something....Kahley looked around, seeing the things to do. 'Things here seem like they'd be much funner with someone else to do them with...' Kahley thought to herself. She sighed. She looked up at everything. (Literally. Being under 5 feet tall will do that.) Kahley wasn't sure what to do. She liked Earth, and had proper money to buy things, but sometimes she wished there were people-friends-to hang out with. She went into a store at random and began looking around. 'Nothing here will ever fit me,' she thought knowingly. The only Earth-made clothes that could fit her were for little kids. Granted, she is a little kid when you think about it, but that was beside the point. She looked at some clothes on the racks, and wasn't sure what to do. There was no point in being there, anyways. At least not for shopping. She noticed some girls who...didn't look like a normal human or Laholian...'Then what are they?' she thought. One of them was trying on clothes and asked the other girl's opinion on it after saying she felt like...'What's a chinchilla? Something in their native language?' Kahley wasn't sure what that was or meant. She decided to approach them. "Hinopre wae nobera ginio?" she asked quietly. She felt safer talking in her native language. “I guess. Apparently, this is what style is here. It’s not too bad. I don’t want to stray too far from our origins,” she replied. At least now she was presentable and would hopefully stop people from assuming she was some hoodlum scientist; she would miss the lab coat, though. Regardless of temperature, she’d almost always worn a coat, so the fact that she had a jacket on this time wasn’t so bad. If views on appearance weren’t so different, she’d be back to punk fashion.
Almost instinctively she rose a brow when her sister stepped out in brighter colors, though she made a few touches. “It’s better with your style added to it. It wouldn’t be quite you without it,” she said, giving a thumbs up. It was nice to know they were both trying to cling to where they were from. It wasn’t every day that wealthy, biological fathers decided to go and bring their children from a moon to a planet and introduce them to a new lifestyle entirely.
Shortly after, someone approached, someone seemingly human, and short, very short. It was only when she started talking that she figured out she likely wasn’t human. Stratos was a diverse place, so she recognized the language, but didn’t speak it very well. “Sorry, we don’t speak that all too well. How about English?”
She was pleased enough with the outfit, and soon enough someone had approached them. To her surprise, the girl looked young and very short, but then again, Talia was not that much taller. At only fifteen years old, Talia still had some growing to do, she didn't think this girl did. "Oh um yeah. See, thats not an easy one. I can count in pretty much all those languages, but that's about it.Sorry. English?" She looked at her sister. Talia was great with numbers, amazing really, but that was about it. And really her reading was far below par. That was an issue that their father would need to address in case Talia was ever interviewed or asked to read from a prompt. Because currently there was no telling if she could even do that. But math? That she had down to an art. She took pleasure in numbers, and in fact, had used her skill with them to commit a few illegal acts back home that she'd never gotten caught doing. That was one of the few secrets she kept from her sister. She was not exactly an angel child, but no need for her sister to worry. Right?
She looked between her sister and the stranger. "One sec I gotta get out of this thing, the zipper is poking me." She went back into the dressing room and came out a moment later wearing her normal all black clothes. She placed the clothes, she would buy, on a chair nearby, and the ones she did not want on the go back rack. All the while, staying in the same general area. But hey, there was no reason to make people walk all over the store right? She liked the convenience. Taking a side way glance to see if she could spot her father, she turned her attention back to their "Guest". Wait, huh? What is the etiquette of calling someone a guest? Goodness she felt out of place. She needed to figure some of this stuff out and fast. She got the feeling that their father lived a very different life then the one she was used to. She was a little overwhelmed by it all , really. But there was nothing she could do.

Kahley nodded when these people asked for her to speak English. "Where are you two from?" Speaking slowly, and watching her English grammar to make sure they understand, she had repeated her question in English. "I sorry. My main...lane-gwage...it not English," she apologized, making minor grammar errors, and pausing to try to pronounce language the best she could. OOC: I like typing like this! It's fun to read out loud! biggrin
Adam was very much the picture of an idea father, sitting in a chair and watching as his girls moved around the store. He gave slight thumbs up or thumbs down to those working at the store who were helping the girls to signify if he would let them buy the outfit or not. Most of the time it was a thumbs up. He couldn't tell the girls 'no' too much at this point. Things were still relatively new and he wanted them to feel empowered as they should. Boundaries were something they could deal with later. It was about when Kahley approached the girls that Adam was distracted by a phone call. He answered quickly and quietly with a simple question "Is it done?" There was a brief pause as the automated voice on the other line explained that the contract had been sent out to both men. "Good." Adam said before hanging up and looking over to see a third, rather short girl, had approached his children. He took a step forward and motioned towards the two bodyguards standing outside the store before he realized it was just a girl and waved them off. Then the Senator moved towards the trio with is signature grin. "Making friends already you two?"
"Shake with your right hand but hold a rock in your left."

Where were they from? Now that she could answer; the miracle of proper communication. “Downtown Stratos,” she replied, which spoke volumes if the girl was aware of the location. The girl was being really modest about her speaking, which made her smile. “Don’t worry about it. Your English is great. I’m Gwen, and this is my sister, Talia. Who are you?” It was time to hear a fancy alien name again, which was always amusing.
Their dad made a comment about making a friend. She liked to think so, because someone actually considered them approachable for a change. “I guess so.” It beat getting scolded at by some idiots in Stratos.
Kahley heard the older girl, Gwen, introduce her and her sister, Talia. She also heard her say her English was great. 'It is?' Kahley wasn't sure how much she agreed with that. It was good a human thought her English was great, but still. Gwen asked who Kahley was. "My name Kahley," she introduced herself. Kahley saw....a man who obviously knew Gwen and Talia. "Who he?" Kahley asked, a little cautious since she didn't know who this man was.
Adam looked at his girls and then the new girl. It was clear to him that English was not Kahley's first language and while he was curious what her language was because he probably could speak it, he didn't ask. Curiosity was not enough to mean he cared about the answer. He thought about answering the girls question but chose not to. It would be interesting for him to see how his children introduced him to another person. Something he would undoubtedly teach them later on. Just another of the many lessons they would have to learn in their new lives.
It’d take a second, but she recalled some of her language, hoping to try since Kahley had been so kind to use a language she didn’t excel in just to communicate with them. “Fina nigio teme—umm—nobera.” When she asked about the male beside them, she extended her hand towards him, “Teme afthre?” It was pronounced correctly, but it sounded more like a question, not because she was hesitant to call him her father, but because she wasn’t quite sure if she said it correctly. Her words weren’t anything extraordinary; she just happened to remember a greeting, recycled the word for “meet”, and added father to introduce him. It was notable that she didn’t refer to his occupation as senator; she didn’t want their new friend to feel like she was entitled to give them some sort of high treatment, because she wasn’t.

Kahley didn't know why Gwen was talking in Laholian, but she really appreciated it. "'Afthre?'" Kahley repeated. She decided to speak to him in English. "Nice to meet you," she said. She knew now that he was a person both Gwen and Talia knew, so she wasn't as cautious. Except he was still a stranger; all three of them were; so she didn't completely trust them yet. Kahley wondered if they knew what Kahley was (because it was a little obvious she wasn't human) and how much Laholian Gwen knew. She had only said a few words, but they were all pronounced correctly. Gwen had to think of how to say 'you' in Laholian (nobera) but she was good at Laholian, Kahley had to admit.
