February 26th, 2019: Jak Bauer Pandy Belle Features- Updating Email AddressHi I am unable to update my email address on a mule account so I can use site features. I have made several email accounts to try it with but Gaia just isnt sending out emails for verification. Can you please fix this? Hi there, Have you made sure to check your spam/trash folder? Sometimes our e-mails get filtered into those folders. Additionally, please add the e-mail address, webadmin@mailer.gaiaonline.com, to your safe list/address book and try again. April 2nd, 2019: Lanzer Knight Yoshi Feature: Change Login So right now we have three options to log in. Username, user ID, and email. I suggest that you move to email only. It would further secure accounts as it would require the attacker to know something that is otherwise not public information, in combination of the password. It would also separate account credentials from the username allowing you to more easily release usernames. By shifting to email only you can release a username of an inactive account and then when that person signs back in (with the email address), that person would then be required to register a new username. Accounts with released usernames would just be something their user ID prefixed with a U, so in my case U7944809, that way there's at least some name present. We actually discussed this a while back. I do agree that it's a better way of handling login. I did get some negative feedback at the time, but maybe it'll be something that will be enabled by default and Gaians can disable email-only login in the options screen Lanzer Knight Yoshi Cleanup Inactive Accounts?Have you given it more thought about cleaning up accounts that have been inactive for say 5yrs? You could target accounts by years of inactivity or never validating the email, or the email address no longer existing (any emails bounced). You could send out an email months in advance (if it bounces put that account on the list). That should give people plenty of time to reactive their accounts, but I mean if they haven't been on in 5yrs, what are the odds that an email is going to make them log in. There was a thread that popped up in the SF the other day that I disagreed with the original idea, but the thought of cleaning up inactive accounts as a whole doesn't seem too bad. That's something in the back of my mind, but I think the next big project would be related to platinum conversion, unless there is something specific with inactive accounts that's causing issues will be something we can look at.

April 9th, 2019: Lanzer Silverstar_Cross Features: Account RegistrationHow come newcomers can't register through Protonmail to get new Gaia accounts with, but virtually every other e-mail service like Yahoo or Google Mail can be registered just fine? Is it because Protonmail is too new a service to be used, or is it because no one's ever thought about it until now? It's more likely that the flagged us as spam and blocked our email. I'll ask our IT manager to look into it.

May 14th, 2019: it amy Purrstel Star rewards/Features- I was wondering, is there anyway to combine stars within your own accounts? For example this account and my other account I buy GC on depending on which one I renewed the Angel sub on at the time and now they both have stars just floating around that combined could help me get items but individually just go to waste. It's a real pain :c I can bring the idea up to the team, but we currently have no plans for combining stars,

July 23rd, 2019: Lanzer PizzaNyah FeaturesWhen new users join, they have to have an e-mail account from a very limited amount of popular e-mail providers like Gmail, Hotmail, etc. There are many different e-mail providers, so there are plenty of people who haven't joined, because the registration page doesn't accept their valid e-mail address. Many Gaians have mentioned this earlier, but the restriction is still there. Therefore, could you please remove the restriction and update the registration page to accept any valid e-mail address (with the usual e-mail confirmation link to confirm the e-mail address), so anyone with a valid e-mail account can join Gaia, and that existing users are able to change to any valid e-mail address? More users will be able to join, regardless of their e-mail provider yum_strawberry I'll look into changing the system from a whitelist to a blacklist system. It was there to prevent the email aliases services from creating fake accounts too easily.

December 23rd, 2019: Lanzer PizzaNyah FeaturesMany users (now and in the past) can't join/register because your e-mail system still only works with few of the most popular e-mail providers, only some few mainstream e-mail providers are allowed for Gaia accounts, so only a very limited amount of users are able to make a Gaia account. Many other Gaians have mentioned this earlier, we still can't register with our preferred e-mail address, and we still can’t change to a preferred e-mail address in the account settings. When will you allow for any valid e-mail address to be used with Gaia accounts? I was told that the issue was fixed. I'll check with the provider to have it fixed if we're still having issues.

January 14th, 2020: Lanzer Inteleon Features:Is there a plan on fixing activation emails? It’s taking some people weeks to receive them. I made an account to see if it’s working yesterday and have yet to get the email on outlook. That's odd, we fixed the email related issue last week. I'll check on the server right after ATS.

We do not have an en mass policy to just remove user names from users who have been gone in case they come back. That being said, you can submit a ticket to the Help Center asking for a single name. We will look into the feasibility of releasing the name if sufficient time has gone by without the user logging in. Even if we do remove the name from that account that will not guarantee YOUR being able to claim it! When Gaia first started it was possible to use symbols/punctuation/spaces and other characters. Due to changes in the architecture of our databases at one point we could no longer support that feature as it no longer differentiated those symbols/punctuation/spaces. To the current database they all look the same. What this means is if waaaaaaaaay back then I had the name Jak Bauer, and another user had Jak .Bauer both of those names were valid. We did grandfather it in so the current users at the time were not unduly affected but that means even if we change Jak Bauer to be a number the system would still see Jak .Bauer and say the name is in use as it wouldn’t see the . at all.

You announced earlier that you have finished migation to a new e-mail service, does this include support for any valid e-mail addresses? If not, do you have an estimate for when we can use any valid e-mail address? Currently we're still managing some issues with the new system to ensure 100% delivery rate. When things are solid we will open up more options. The tricky part is that we need to ensure that emails we sent are not bounced or rejected, otherwise it'll hurt the score of our email server and mess up delivery of your messages. But at the same time, we don't have control over what email addresses Gaians enter into the system.
