Keionx found herself late to the party. She'd been heading off to nobly smash the base at swiftscale hill, but it had been smashed, re-smashed, and rebuilt. So, since she was the sort of troll who had to make her mark and take credit no matter how superfluous (as a knight should do) She proceeded to add a whole new section and a gargoyle.

Satisfied, she clicked on the radio.

“Swiftscale hill secure. How dost thou fare, Ephias?”

Ephias was at at the top of the scaffolding, telescope pressed to his lookstub when Keionx radioed in. He jumped at the sudden noise and fumbled with the telescope. It slipped out of his hands and fell towards the ground. Ephias made a mad scramble for it. He landed on his belly, arms extended and just barely managed to catch it. He breathed a sigh of relief and tucked it into his pocket. He then pulled out his radio to respond to Keionx who was likely wondering what was taking him so long.

“Already?” Ephias asked. “Didn't you j-just head out a little while ago?” She could not have been gone more than two hours. That hardly seemed like enough time to demolish a rebel base and build their own. Suddenly a blue light began to flash in his peripheral vision. That was not good. He squeezed his eyes shut and willed it to go away. When he opened them, it was still there. He ground his teeth.

“Did you have outside help?” he asked. Then he realised he had forgotten to hold down the push-to-talk button. He tried again, “D-did you have any out-outside help?” The light continued to flash.

“I'm... all right. I was trying to see if I could scout anything for us but...” his voice trailed off in bitter disappointment.

Keionx rolled gazed out from her excellent vantage point, but could see mainly big beautiful loyalist flags. She sighed, and then proceeded to 'charge' down the hill.

Hey, a knight didn't need a foe to be heroic and awesome looking, right?

After she'd had her fun and managed to not kill herself careening down the slope, she remembered she hadn't answered Ephias.

“Help?!” she wasn't sure how to respond. A knight did not need help! They went solo! Except... when they didn't? It wasn't actually clear cut. Oh well. “Perhaps!” she replied, not-quite-noncommitally.
She hesitated, “I am glad you are well.” she said sincerely, absentmindedly tapping at her injury “Mm... That aside, I am not sure where to go from here.” she admitted, instead of admitting that – in these past few days – she had been very worried for Ephias,often and quite irrationally, not that Keionx really cared about rational. “Hast thou any ideas? Mine hands itch for honest labor, be it slaying foes...” she stopped, “Including buildings...” yes buildings could be foes. Completely. “or building glorious monuments to our names and symbols!” she was very proud of her gargoyle. “Perhchance... thou hast any ideas?

For a long while, the radio was quiet. “Keionx? Keionx, are you there?” Ephias asked. The light continued to pulse in his peripheral vision. On top of his concern for his team-mate he felt a budding irritation at the hallucinatory light. His worry overwhelmed his anger though. What if something had happened? What if she had been attacked by rebels? The conflict was growing increasingly dangerous after all!

Just as he was about to deploy a search and rescue group, Keionx's voice cracked back through the speaker. “Geez, don't leave me hanging like that.” he scolded. “I was beginning to think something had happened. Anyway, I'll see if I can find something for you to do... give me a moment.” Releasing the call button, Ephias tucked the radio into his pocket along side the telescope. He then began to descend the scaffolding. Near the bottom though, Ephias suddenly heard someone whisper in his ear.

Or he thought he did.

He lost his grip on the rail and landed hard on the ground. “Ow ow...” Ephias rubbed at his backside. Fortunately he was not hurt. Just a little sore and very startled. At least the fall had woken him up a bit. Wolly was already at his side, nuzzling him in concern. Ephias' jaw tensed. Get away!” he snarled, lashing out. Wolly stopped immediately. He gave his charge a hard look.

Ephias met his gaze. As he did he felt his pumpbiscuit beat hard within his breast. His breaths were short and quick. “Please...” he added in a calmer tone. The sheep nodded.

Getting to his feet, Ephias made his way over to the war table. He examined the map for a moment then called Keionx on his radio.

“Sorry for the wait,” he said. “If you feel up to... expanding our t-territory, you could try taking out the rebel base at the beach resort, 6, 4. I'll see if I can get you some help.”

Ah, he sounded worried... Keionx felt a little bad. She was not used to being worried about – Beastdad was very proud of her, and confident in her abilities. About others : sure. She worried a lot! Being worried about was... odd. She didn't like it.

“I... I'm sorry. I was just having a little fun...” she said, slightly anxious and apologetic, enough for her to sound almost normal. “I won't go quiet like that again, all right?”

She waited for his response. And waited. The occasional crash of battle and the whirr of the transport device marked the silence. She bit her lip. “Ephias?” She mentally calculated the distance to the construction pit, trying to figure out just how far away she was.

Not far. If she had to, she could gun it and...

She grabbed at the crackling radio. “Ephias! There you are!” she said, relieved. “I...” he was all right. Good.

Good.

She felt better hearing him not be not okay. “I do indeed wish to conquer more in the name of our empress!” she boomed over the radio, switching back to her usual self as if she had never slipped (and to her she never had) “I will make way for it directly!”

She pushed down the pedal and zoomed towards the Beach Resort, with all due haste.

Ephias laughed a little at her enthusiasm. It was barely more than a dry chuckle, but considering how emotive he usually was it was something. “Don't go too quickly,” he warned. “Give time for cavalary to arrive. I just check in on the general radio channel and the rebels had troops on that base.” He only hoped that Keionx would not be motivated to take them out herself.

She didn't really think she could drive and radio, but she just had to check in. She pushed the button, laughed in what she hoped was a heroic way, and then quickly swerved to avoid an obstacle.

All and all? She was doing well.

Finally, she arrived at the formerly nice place of rest and relaxation and wealth and jumped out of the vehicle, her leg twinging but not really mattering in the grand scheme of things as her feet hit the sand. She took out her sledgehammer and walked into the fray.

“For Honor!” she called, making sure to push her radio's button so that Ephias could hear and NOT worry, “For glory!” she waded through the crowd, bashing hemoanonymous trolls out of her way, “For...” she put down the radio and raised her hammer, “Victory!” she cried, slamming the hammer into the structure...

With another mighty crash of her hammer – not that different from a sword, really, once she got used to it – the structure came down. She cheered.

“I am Victorious!” she announced over the radio to Ephias, switching to the main com channel, “Beach Resort rebel base destroyed, thou wouldst do well to construct a base here, mine allies!”

She switched back to Ephias. “So...” she smiled at the device and hefted her hammer across her shoulders, “Thou has nothing to worry about.”

The orangeblood had taken his words to heart. He was a little surprised though he could not say why. “Good work!” he said in what he hoped sounded like a cheerful, congratulatory manner. “And... er... thanks for k-keeping me updated. I'll send down some workers to begin on construction. I've given them a blue-print to follow but if you want to oversee construction...” He trailed off. He hated to ask for more of Keionx's help.

“I'd come down to help in person b-but... it's... probably not a g-ood idea.”

”No!” she said hurriedly, “No. That will not be necessary, friend Ephias. Stay there, for a time...” She didn't want him to leave the safety of their team's home base. Not again. It could be him taking that arrow next time, and he was not going to do that on her watch! “I will ensure that thy instructions are carried out. I will manage the workers personally!” she said with great aplomb, taking up a guarding position on the freed up turf, daring the rebels to try to take it back.

It's a new day! A push by the royalists, inspired by Captain Puchen, has caused a significant power shift. The undermined rebellion will not stand for this. A last push of desperation has spurred the rebellion to fight, and fight hard.


Today's Happenstance(s):

Phoenix Warcry applies to Rebel Troops today only and is based off of the mule's D6 roll:
1: Gain 1 additional action per troll, and 1 additional action per extra page.
2: Add 1D6 to all construction rolls
3: Add 1D6 to all demolition rolls
4: Add 1D6 to all recruiting rolls
5: Pick any coordinate on the map to unlock. This effect can be used once per page.
6: You can mobilize troops from one friendly coordinate to two coordinates (friendly or enemy) at once with one action.
(The effect that your team receives will be rolled in this post, and only affects the team that this thread belongs to. Royalists will not receive a buff; yesterday's warcry has worn off.)

Members of the Royalist and Rebel Teams can roll 1D6 once every hour in the Coastal Base or the Wooded Sanctuary thread to assist the wounded in the medical bay. The corresponding number will subtract from the number of wounded, and at 0 this effect will go away. If a 6 is rolled, you receive an extra action for use in your team thread. These posts must be accompanied by RP text.

Each troll is refreshed and ready to go with 2 available actions.

ALSO: Trolls rolling for the journeytroll intelligence effect are welcome to roll up to 20D6 so as to not spam their threads.

REMINDER: The last official day of the Territory Game will be on Sunday. Come Monday's refresh, the mechanics of the game will cease as the scores are tallied, the threads are reviewed, and we prepare for the final phase of the meta. You will still be welcome to RP in the team threads, but please plan your actions accordingly!


Refreshers:
POSSIBLE ACTIONS ARE:

Build: Roll 1D6 to build on a coordinate that you have unlocked – the roll result determines the durability of the base. You can also build on friendly bases to add durability, up to a maximum of 30 durability. You cannot build on a coordinate that already has an enemy base on it.
Trolls with training in Construction get a bonus to their roll:
Apprentice: Roll 2D6 Journeytroll: Roll 3D6 Master: Roll 4D6 Grandmaster: Roll 5D6

Rally: Roll 1D6 to organize defenders, which can be assigned to any coordinate you have unlocked. The roll result determines the amount of defenders you have rallied. Defenders will be on stand-by until you mobilize them. Defenders are the second level of defense that can be assigned to protect a base. You must use defenders to take out defenders if you want to demolish an enemy base!
Trolls with training in Recruiting get a bonus to their roll:
Apprentice: Roll 2D6 Journeytroll: Roll 3D6 Master: Roll 4D6 Grandmaster: Roll 5D6

Demolish:
Roll 1D6 to destroy a base on a coordinate that you have unlocked – the roll result determines the amount of damage done to the durability of the base. At 0 durability, the base is destroyed. You cannot demolish a base with defenders assigned to it.
Trolls with training in Demolition get a bonus to their roll:
Apprentice: Roll 2D6 Journeytroll: Roll 3D6 Master: Roll 4D6 Grandmaster: Roll 5D6

Intelligence: Roll a new coordinate (2D6). If you roll a coordinate you have already unlocked, the roll is wasted.
Trolls with training in Intelligence get a bonus to their rolls:
Apprentice: Roll 2 new coordinates (4D6)
Journeytroll: Roll 2 new coordinates (4D6); if at least 1 of the coordinates is not unique, re-roll. Each re-roll will increase in numbers by 2D6. So, if you don't find a coordinate on your first 2D6 roll, roll 2D6 again. If there are no unique numbers, roll 4D6. Then 6D6, etc. The FIRST unique coordinate unlocked will be considered the new coordinate. So: Bobbie rolled 4D6 and got 2,2, 5,5 and both sets of coordinates are unique. She ONLY unlocks [2,2].
Master: Journeytroll effect OR select one new coordinate from another team and unlock it. You must post with roleplay in your own thread and the other team’s thread for this to take effect.
Grandmaster: Journeytroll effect OR Master effect OR… Roll 1 coordinate (2D6). If your allies control the coordinate rolled: add 5 durability and 5 defenders to that coordinate (may surpass the maximum durability/defender limit by 5). If your opponents control the coordinate rolled: it loses 5 durability and 5 recruits (does not apply if the numbers would decrease past 0). You additionally unlock the coordinate.


Mobilize: Choose one of two options:
1. Send defenders from your stand-by or a friendly-base you control to any friendly-base on a coordinate that you have unlocked.
2. Assault an enemy-controlled coordinate that you have unlocked using defenders from a friendly base. Defenders must be deployed to a base before they can assault an enemy base and cannot attack directly from your standby.

Keionx had heard about the battles over Swiftscale hill, and as soon as she could get the vehicle ready, was on her way, patching up the scene as best she could. Bang bang bang, and it was up... and there were even columns.

Keionx looked at the base she had built with great pride, as usual. She did good work, and she knew it. But, the young knight-troll-in-training felt that it was missing something.

So, she added a gargoyle and a spire and decided it was much better that way.

OoC: This roll is void because I was trying to do intelligence and forgot that I need TWO dice for that. Also it does not work for anything else aside from demolition. Unfortunately there is nothing to demolish so it is just... useless. Deploying was the only thing I could do without causing us to lose actions.

Ephias beat his head against the wall. It was getting hard to focus. Maybe some good old fashioned mental trauma would help to remedy that. When he was done he shouted for the troops he had rallied to protect Swiftscale Hill. He had thought yelling might make him feel better but it didn't really.

The team really needed to fill out more of their map. It was useless to follow the radio if they did not have any intelligence on the locations mentioned. While Keionx was gone, Ephias decided to change that. He was not in condition to do any of the work himself—it seemed obvious but it had taken a good amount of brain power to arrive at that conclusion—so he decided to organise a scouting party. They could investigate the southern side of Old Hemisect and report back their findings. It seemed like a good plan.

The idea rolled around in Ephias' thinkpan for a couple minutes. He stared vacantly into the horizon. After a moment he started. What had he been planning again? Oh yes. He needed to gather intelligence. He was not in condition to do any of the work himself—it seemed obvious but it had taken a good amount of brain power to arrive at that conclusion—so he decided to organise a scouting party. They could investigate the southern side of Old Hemisect and report... back their findings...

This train of thought suddenly seemed very familiar to Ephias. Was he having deja vu? Or had he already gone through that thought several times already? What thought for that matter? He was having difficulty recalling. It did not help that the stars were so bright. They were dazzling. Lovely really. He wanted to reach out and scoop some into his hand. Of course that was impossible because they were millions and millions and millions and millions and millions and millions...

That was strange. They were going dark. Just gone. Everything had gone dark really. But where were the stars?

Ephias suddenly keeled over. He had passed out. Wolly, realising what had happened, began to frantically nudge the incapacitated troll towards the recuperacoons. He let out a few anxious bleats.

OoC: Probability hates me. This is ridiculous. Ephias will be wide-awake tomorrow and ready for action!
