Instead of just graciously accepting the invitation to head to the back, Hyde grabbed Amarante by her gesturing hand and practically dragged her behind. "Your comment almost sounds like a challenge. I hope you're ready for a good fight. And by good I mean merciless~ heart " One of the benefits of having an abomination as a friend: damage healed quick and little was even close to fatal. She herself had something similar, thanks to a combination of Black Books and a certain deal with a certain demon-thing. It was so hard to find those she could go almost all-out on and live. The ride in the elevator wasn't necessarily quick, but it certainly was actionless enough to bore the elf. "So you've already had communal baths without me. Was there anything worth knowing brought up in that time?" Did that count as gossip? Or was it just a regular inquiry? Ama sure had some odd notions for things Hyde should try. Then again... No, that was a bad train of thought to board. Time wasn't something she had to worry about, so there was no rush for anything but what was immediately in front of her. Fighting~

Amarante was disconcerted by the crumb-covered hands dragging her along. "Hey... !" Wriggling free of the elf's grip while within the elevator, she was quick to dust herself off of the remains of any unfortunate cookies. "This outfit was hardly cheap, you know." Considering the fact that said outfit would be impressive to fight in but likely to be shredded in a matter of seconds, a change of costume seemed to be a good idea. With a flicker of the elevator's lights the gothic garb was replaced with a bloodstained black seifuku. "That's better." More importantly, within her bloody arms resided an ominous item that indicated that she meant business. Leaning in on the overly-decorated katana, her falsely grey eye took on a carmine cast as she gave the elf a sinister look. "Sorry, but I don't feel like holding back today." An unsettling smile settled into her face just as with a sharp chime the elevator indicated that it had reached the roof.

Hyde might have whistled with the impressiveness in which Amarante changed outfits so quickly, but she'd seen that trick before. A lot. But now she had that sword out. She really was serious this time. Which made Hyde wonder if it was something she did to prompt it... Nah. "I suppose I shouldn't soil such a sacred blade by using anything less." Reaching to the small of her back - another Black Book benefit - Hyde withdrew an equally ancient katana. This one wasn't as ornate, but the weapon itself was unique to Hydecchi. If it wasn't for the elevator being designed for supernatural and otherwordly loads the cables likely would have groaned under the added load. "So, are we going til one of us is unconscious? Or did you have some other rule in mind?"

The small figure that was now shrouded in shadow clambered out of the elevator, mess of red hair falling to the side as she looked back at the elf in cruel amusement. "You would think of a cursed blade as sacred." The stained arms held the sword closely, expression reflecting a twisted sense of fondness as her glances caressed along the sharp edges of its form. "Not like blood on a red blade is really much of a problem~" The eerie glee present in that statement likely wouldn't bother the elf. Though anyone else would likely find themselves disturbed. Muscles alternating between the stiffness of the dead and the ragdoll quality of the newly fallen, she pulled herself into a fighting stance with relative ease. "That suits me just fine."

Before exiting the elevator Hyde had pinned her hair back and unlaced some of the more flowy garments from her person. It wasn't that she didn't want them to get dirty, she just didn't want them in the way. Her love of flowing garments only made for a good show in a fight. Or a good distraction with the right weapon. But right now she was in a fight with one of the few beings she respected. "Cursed or not, it is still a superior blade. And for your dislike of it you certainly cradle it like a precious thing." Whatever her reasons or connections or whatever else regarding the katana were didn't matter right now. Unsheathing her own blade with that hollow grind of metal over metal Hyde let the saya thud to the ground without a bounce. "Well, that's a fast way to shed ten kilos." Amarante's remark to the line was moot. Hyde placed both hands on the hilt and adopted a side-stance - her deep black blade not reflecting any of the ambient light. "Your move." All emotion had fled her voice, her eyes blank, and her body motionless. Nothing moved about her except the slight movement of her hair from the breeze on the rooftop.

Someone's serious and oh-so-dangerous mood was unsettled by what she perceived as the elf making a pun. "What the... 'cursed' and 'accursed' are not the same thing!" The look of exasperation definitely didn't suit a face so clearly darkened and possessed with a curse. With a frustrated but spooky sigh she regained her composure. With a tilt of her head she sneered, well, up at Hyde. "And there's no breeze today. Quit moving your hair like that. It's creepy." Said the bloody and cursed demon. Continuing with her simultaneously taut yet slack movements, with both arms she took a wide swing at the elf while displaying a great deal of malicious delight. "Or should I help you with that? Surely you could use a haircut!" Her creepy laughter made it clear that already she was enjoying herself. Why would she dislike an item that allowed her to forget about pretty much everything, at least for a little while?

The wide swing made by the demon was met with a perpendicular blocking blade, but not much other motion from the elf. "Whoever said 'accursed'? Do you need those pointy ears of yours cleaned out?" With a twist on her grip, Amarante's blade was turned away with a grind of metals. Hyde's black blade was now edge up and ready to cleave. "Just let me have my breeze. I'm willing to share it with you." Her comment was accentuated with a quick, upward slice that could have taken one of the demon's ears off, let alone a lock of hair.

In her usual jerky fashion, Amarante not only dodged the blow with a quick jump but also slid down the sharp edge of the blade with both feet before resuming her position on the roof's surface. With amusement she admired the deep cuts on the soles of her shoes. Enough to be visible, but just short of compromising the shoes' structure. Turning her attention back to her opponent, she couldn't help but offer a smart remark. "You're the one that's imagining things, fetid elf~" Hyde needed more baths to get rid of that intergalactic vomit smell, as Amarante keenly noted with a smell-diffusing wave of her hand. "Besides, what points do you speak of? I see no pointy ears here." She freed a hand and cupped it about an ear to cheekily show just that. "Maybe hitting your head will help you think more clearly about all of this." Ever the dirty fighter, Amarante's next strike was a low kick that went for her tall opponent's legs. Timber?

"Pointy ears or none at all!" came Hyde's indignant reply to Amarante's snark. Not being able to change her physical appearance in such a manner may have been a contributing factor to her not understanding Ama's not wanting to show any of her true form in public. May have. Right now was not really the time for her to ponder about such a matter. And after the fight she'd completely forget anyway, so this whole exposition was a waste of time. Or it was enough time for Hyde to have her feet swept out from under her. With a heavy crash the highly dense elf hit the roof flat on her back. "Well, that's a good way to test the roof." In stark contrast to her blunt fall she kicked out both legs and pushed with her free hand into a whirl made to knock the demon's legs out from under her while bringing herself upright. "And so was that?"

Amarante jeered at the from her perspective selfish elf. "Easy for you to say. I doubt much of anyone wants to senselessly murder an elf on sight." Her gaze shifted to the side, looking quite disturbed as her darkened face bore a genuine frown. She never thought of herself as a 'good' demon, and she was hardly selflessly kind. But every kid with a cross trying to take her down on sight got to be pretty irritating. Hyde was often nude and bloody herself but there was a stigma there that she'd just never understand. It wasn't something she'd hold against her friend but it was something that would forever remain without any sort of resolution, it seemed. Accepting that, Amarante shifted into a cute pose to assert her dominance. "I'm cute either way, so~" Hyde's palette swapping couldn't compare to Amarante having two cute forms! And ah, the elf making contact with the roof was a satisfying sound to take in. "Oh, not even a dent. Good job, roof!" Whether it was supernatural or skilled construction at work, it'd apparently been worth the money. And while Amarante couldn't stop her legs from going out, she sure could complain about it as she attempted to right herself. "It most certainly is not a good way to test it as unlike you I am actually fairly light and--" Too much complaining, not enough action. Face first into the surface of the roof. But as promised, her body made no impression on the roof and the roof made little impression on her body. Wasn't to say that her ego escaped the impact, however, as she peeled her face from its surface. "Fair enough."

Hyde was a big ball of apathy when it came to most other beings' opinions of her. That isn't to say she didn't get irritated from time to time, but the vast majority may as well have been a pile of dog poo on the side of the road in the tall grass she wasn't even anywhere near. "I dunno what it is, Ama-cha, but despite all of the fantastical creatures roaming about few seem to identify me as an elf." Seeing as how the demon hadn't seen it fit to get up off the ground yet, Hyde saw fit to try to stomp on her friend's squishy body. "Most think I'm a demon - can't imagine why~ But their ignorance is their problem. Anyone attempting an exorcism will likely be frustrated that all of their showboating does nothing." She hadn't forgotten about what she was told of Ama and Erhard's meeting, but exorcism was one of those methods of execution that was almost unique to demons. Hyde preferred destroying the corporeal body. Much more fun. "I still haven't decided what I would do to someone who tries something like that. I'd probably laugh, but it is meant to be an attack and I don't think I could just let it slide."

Amarante wasn't one to doubt the experiences of her friend, nor was she one to overestimate the overall intelligence of the general populace. One could argue that humans' annoying tendency to attack first and ask questions later was spurred by the instinct to survive... but Amarante knew the nature of the would-be corruptors bringing trouble to her doorstep in the first place. In a show of lesser intelligence, the creatures causing such reactions to begin with often stated their intentions outright. Of course they deserved to be blighted when expressing malice so plainly. The ever-violent but ever-bored Amarante considered herself quite apart from such savagery. For a decorated and refined soldier like Amarante, not just any quarry would do. Inversely, it was almost insulting to have to weather the attempts of attacks from common folk. She deserved better.
With one last indignant sneer, she left her self-indulgent thoughts to address her opponent with an amused lilt to her voice and curt smile across her face. "You'd think the ever-present cookies would cue them in to your innate elfness." Oh, elves and their cookies. That entertaining thought was interupted by the possibility of elf boots splattering her innards across the roof. With a squeak and a huff Amarante did the utmost to remove her body from immediate harm, indifferent to any dirt and scrapes she might gather in the process. Dust stirring as she found her feet again, she took a moment to complain. "I can't say I really understand that path of thought from the start. This is my body! Why am I continually targeted by attacks to remove me from my own body?" That lack of understanding was always a frustrating one, especially for someone so proud of her useful and resilient body. She had every right to use brute force straight off to anyone that attempted to part her of said body. But she was quite proud of her own willingness to give the less fortunate a chance to redeem themselves, pressing a hand to her chest with a self-satisfied smile. "Attempting to reason with them is always a good starting point. And if they don't listen to reason..." Regardless of any appearances she hadn't forgotten that their conversation was also a fight, her eerily glowing eye going wide as she directed a slice towards the elf's armored neck piece with the intention to cut it off. "Well. Then it's either trouncing them or destroying them, isn't it?" The dissonance between the playful timbre of her voice and the threatening quality of her words would've disturbed any person with any semblace of normality. While Hyde seemed to have trouble reconciling the two sides to her friend, Amarante knew that her intentions would be well understood by the likes of the elf. The wicked smile that followed the attack echoed that confidence.

Curse you, marketing! For too long people have all had the misconception that elves were four inches tall, wore sock hats, curly shoes, and were some manner of craftsman for consumer goods! "I suppose I am too tall for them to think me an elf, no matter how many cookies I throw at them." A certain baking company had been through several leaders because of Hyde. Now they must have built a CEO bunker or something because she hadn't found the new one, yet, and the advertising crap keeps going on. "Because apparently demons can't exist in 'their world' without possessing some 'good soul' and stealing their body. I dunno for sure. I still maintain that it is just easier to kill them." She had had to settle on the company after a long - futile - attempt to locate that bearded red fat-a**, who never brought her anything, and was the most infamous perpetrator of that myth turned out to be hiding some place other than the North Pole. Deceptive b*****d. "I'll leave the reasoning to you. I'll just keep acting on impulse." Hyde saw where Amarante was directing her attack. Normally she wouldn't care about clothing getting torn, ripped, cut, or otherwise destroyed. That was akin to sex. But she really liked this scarf. Her blade came screaming from the opposite direction to stop the attack. Deflecting the attack might cause it to still connect. "Nah-ah-ah~ That's a no cutty, Ama-cha~" With their blades locked together Hyde made to push them upwards and kick into the opening created by Ama's raised arms.

The subject was still quite the sore one for an oft-tortured Amarante. "Any spiritual creature that doesn't have holy bearings is fated to be deemed a 'demon,' surely." Hyde's solution of being an uncaring butcher didn't appeal to her, however. "Ah, but then I would be just like them. A disgusting creature that sees nothing but black and white. And without the sense to know the difference between the two regardless." Complacent, foolish people. A monster that dabbled in murder and mayhem had more morals than that rabble. "But..." Hyde's words had been warped within the depths of Amarante's dark mind. "Calling us such things makes it easier for them to justify killing us, doesn't it? That's exactly what it is. A justified murder. The creature was evil, the name said so!" With a seething breath some of the clotted blood soaked into her sleeve found itself smeared across the suddenly hardened features of her face. "Give me a ******** break."
It wasn't long before her poor mood was lifted by quite the amusing thought. The sudden peal of laughter was still a little creepy, but the underlying reverberations were the familiar sound Hyde was likely used to hearing from her friend. The dried blood on Amarante's face cracked as she smiled. "You act like a few minutes of reasoning is quite the sacrifice on your part, Hydecchi." The wicked smile became more brilliant as she felt the need to taunt her opponent. "Are you afraid, I wonder? Of looking weak? Or worse still, that those few minutes will give them the advantage?" The mix of grey and red in her eye seemed to swirl in her doubt. "Surely you can't think that."
After being deflected yet again, Amarante could only sigh as she held the bloodstained blade over her shoulder. "As pleasant as this exercise has been, it's gotten us exactly nowhere." Came with the territory of two that had fought each other probably thousands of times over thousands of years, one'd suppose. "Surely there is something else we can be doing to occupy our time?"

Hyde knew what problems haunted her friend, but had never been subjected to the oppression she had been through. No one ostracized elves. No one thought elves evil. They thought all elves were aloof and uncaring while being snobbish and superior to all other life forms. Well, those that were not miniature craftsmen. And those who were not like the Kuros. But all demons were all evil all of the time. In the world of exceptions they all seemed to exist in the demons were still typecast into the role of 'EVIL'. "And you wonder why I resort to violence so often. I haven't seen many redeeming qualities in these idiots and I have little patience after so many millennia of the same things over and over that it is a better stress reliever to just remove them from the gene pool than to do anything else." That wasn't any form of consolation, she knew. But it was true. Maybe if she had learned some way to psychically change someone's mind things would be different, but all she could do was to remove minds rather than try to change them. "I know you haven't had it easy. I've known you for too long to think otherwise." That wasn't any kind of consolation, either. Her words seemed uncaring and ignorant. With anyone else she'd forget in a moment and not care anymore. But this was Ama. "I can't relate to the problems you face. But I can help them go away." That needed a quick clarification. "Not-not just violently, no."That laugh never really spoke of good things to come for Hyde. It was usually followed by a chiding comment or poking at her mind in places it didn't need to be poked. "It sometimes is, Ama-cha~ It sometimes is." She was hitting deep and hard. It was so unfair. "W-weak?!" F***! Game over. "Perhaps if more were like you, Ama-cha, I wouldn't have to... worry about such things. But in the eyes of the stupid they only seem to understand force of arms." Granted not all were that stupid, but a good portion of them wouldn't know they've been bashed if they were given a card with 'you've just been insulted' on it. "That and... I get the feeling that if I lose - anything - that I might just die. I've lived so long that it feels like a constant victory, but to lose would make it all come crashing to an end."No longer in the mood to fight herself, Hyde nodded at Amarante's suggestion. "Yeah. Perhaps we can go back to your place and... sit, for a while." She'd hate to admit it, but her mind had been kicked into motion and all manner of thoughts, deep and dark, were milling about. She felt very vulnerable right now.
