Sueno gave Maeron a look.
"Ah dinna run this by myself! Pa and Ma do most of the farming!" She saw where he was pointing and realized he was talking about her small beginning of a ranch.
"Ahh.. ye mean the animals? They're not that difficult to deal with cause the barn's mostly empty right now. Only got Gazini and a sheron... plus a few smaller critters that aren't too much work. And Ah'm not a little girl." She wrinkled her nose at him. "Ah'm 15!" Which was adult enough to her! Not my fault I'm not the largest!

Mae struggled not to roll his eyes at the little girl. A fifteen-year-old girl that had apparently been abandoned on this farm while they were in the midst of battle. Someone probably thought she was old enough to handle herself, but it certainly wasn't Mae (never mind what he'd been doing when he was a teenager, of course). "It still must be a lot of work," Mae replied, deciding to forgo continuing the argument on her small she was. "I've only ever had to care for Darke, and I thought he was a handful all on his own."

A rumble of amusement flickered across to him from the Alihora's own thoughts. Darke seemed to realize he'd been caught eavesdropping, so he included a very dutiful-sounding, 'It's clear,' to punctuate his intrusion. Moments later, his icy wings fluttered overhead and he glided down towards the two Orderites.

Maeron nodded affirmatively. "It looks like you'll be safe for now, as long as you don't go looking for trouble." he wasn't entirely sure how easy that would be for her, especially now that he'd said it. She always seemed to do the opposite of what he asked... "I've got to return to my unit, but I'll swing by to check on you when things are a bit calmer again." Not out of any affinity for her, or anything. Just doing his civic duty to make sure the youngsters were kept safe while their parents were away! Or something. Yeah.

With a nod at his companion, he and Darke kicked into the air again. The rest of their small unit had already started heading back, so he couldn't be left too far behind...
