The seventeen year old glanced around at the others who were already swept up in their hand-to-hand combat. She wondered how they could just throw themselves into the fray without even considering the well-being of themselves or others. Then again, her own reluctance to harm anything or anyone was a low blow to her own psyche; she just couldn't do it.
Shakuntala scratched the side of her cheek. Welp, this was pretty awkward. Just going in and punching someone you hardly knew was a terrible way to make a first impression. Not only that, but like him, it was her weakest part of the trials to come. Taking a more defensive stance with raised, balled fists, she nodded her head.
"Uh, okay?"

It was as bad, if not worse than Rennati had imagined it was going to go. Her punch was easily blocked, of course she almost got elbowed in the face, but only because of her forward momentum. At least he apologized! But then she just kept falling and falling and Axel tried to catch her but it was no use. They went crashing to the ground together. And somehow, Rennati had ended up on bottom. With a gasp, Ren felt the wind get knocked out of her when Axel fell on top of her. Sitting there, trying to catch her breath for a moment as Axel rolled off of her quickly and then started talking to her. "Oh. I, um. Yes I'm okay. I'm so so so so sorry. I didn't mean to make us both fall! I feel so bad..." Standing up now, slowly though, and held her hand out to her fighting partner. "Shall we try again? And hope I don't fall again..." She suggested. "Or, or do you know how to do this? Could you help me?" She asked him eagerly. Ren might have crossed her fingers but she didn't want to seem that desperate.

Alec's eyes went wide when she motioned to pause, he felt bad he'd forced the air out of her lungs like that...the last thing he wanted to do was hurt her. He didn't know her as well as some of his fellow trainees, but she'd been one of the ones during the festival that had risked herself to help others. The older admired the small girls determination. "You sure?" He asked as she said she was fine now, giving her a little space to catch her breath. Zin's attack was slower than before, the blow had apparently affected her just enough to make it easier for his movements. As she went to sweep his legs, he blocked with bracing her blow with his own leg in a guard, before stepping just out of arms reach. The impact had hurt, making his grunt in discomfort and momentarily favor the leg. She could certainly deliver a sharp blow, there was no doubt in his mind. He was standing with his fists raised ready, for her to come at him should she try further, waving his hand for her to go offensive, trading turns with their practicing. Renekai 1: Zin gets to counter attack 2: Alec misses 3: Alec gets in a hit 4: Critical hit!

Zin nodded slightly, acknowledging Alec's well-executed block and his invitation for her to continue her offensive. He was a considerate fighter; no matter who came out on top, she would continue to respect him as a friend. But that didn't meant that she would back down easily! The fourteen-year-old's breath had returned, so she ignored the ache in her side and stomach and darted forward again, hoping to land a punch in one of the vulnerable regions that Ervette had instructed them to aim for. leon_a_darkangel 1: Alec gets to counter attack 2: Zin misses 3: Zin gets in a hit 4: Critical hit!

Lenore looked up at her much much larger opponent with a blank expression. It wasn't her first time seeing Mykanos, not after the horse s**t incident, but it wasn't until she was standing below him, preparing to fight this two meter titan, did it occur to her just how much he towered over her. She gave a small glance to Ervette, as if to question her logic in the pairing of the two. She wasn't exactly going to be grappling titans. Turning her attention back to Mykanos, she got into the form Ervette had demonstrated. She wasn't excited about sparring - she never was, honestly - but here went nothing.

Climbing to his feet, Axel dusted himself off. He looked at Rennati. It was hard to look at anyone else; he was positive that making eye contact with any of the other trainees would lead to laughter. Some of the other sparring partners were having their own disasters, but as far as he could tell he and Rennati were the only team that had managed to fall on each other. He laughed, trying to dispell some of the awkwardness. "I'm not the best fighter, but I can try."No one had ever asked him for fighting tips before. It was kind of flattering. "Okay, do what I'm doing." He moved into the same defensive stance their teacher had shown them before and waited for her to copy him. "I'm going to try to hit you. Just block me." After some thought, Axel aimed a punch at her shoulder. It wasn't a hard blow, not enough to really hurt her if she failed to block him.

Hm. Staring down at the shawty before him, Mykanos registered that he did indeed actually know who his opponent was. She was one of the few individuals he'd spoken with here, and he recalled their encounter that'd caused it. It was a curious pair up, to be sure, but nothing that deterred the older, taller trainee. This was his realm of expertise, having wrestled since he was young. Growing up in the mountains, being able to hold ones own was a necessity. After all, there were wild beasts of all sorts up there! Like the young tyke, Mykanos assumed the taught posture for the practice duel, taking in his foe's stature, taking into account her size, probably weight, and how much force to use. He started off with a simple toss of a few punches to gauge her reaction time, and how she would take a basic line of offense.

'You're small n' light; ya gotta use it unless ya wanna die.' Preacher's words echoed in her mind. Lenore stepped backwards as Mykanos threw a few punches. Luckily, they were just test punches, and she dodged them with relative ease. Gritting her teeth, the twelve year old rushed forward before planting her left foot on the ground and whirling around. She threw a punch with her right hand and kicked at the taller boy's left leg with her right. It wasn't a move that was taught by Ervette, just something the girl had come up with after sparring with Preacher.

Mehtab wasn't sure if he could just HIT a girl right out of the gate but hey, if she was inviting it and they had to practice... Rolling his shoulders he paused to stretch a bit offering only 'One sec' as to show no, he wasn't ignoring, he was just limbering up. "As for rules, I admit I'm glad you understand the basics of a fight." He clenched his fist a few times, mentally noting that he'd need to trim his nails. Fist curled he gave a weak punch forward. "Doesn't mean that this isn't still pretty pointless." He wasn't planning of fighting anyone, much less with his fists. They had guns for a reason as well as knives.

Mykanos was pleasantly surprised by the little girls retaliation, and reaction time to the punches he threw her way. Some ducks and weaves incorporated would add to her abilities to avoid his attacks, but that's what practice was for! gauging her body language, he could see she was prepared to go on the offense herself. His muscles tensed as her hits struck, enduring them to see just how much she had behind those hits. Not bad. An arm had lifted to block her petite fist, countering it by giving it a push out the way, the same done for her leg with his own, to try and cancel out her momentum and mildly her balance.

Farvardin nodded when he said one sec and began to stretch. She backed up and threw a few practice punches. Getting on her toes she moved forward for when he was ready. "Not so much. We may get in a situation where we must fight barehanded due to equipment failure or something." She said. She saw the punch coming at her and ducked under it. She then dropped down even more and did a sweep kick hoping to knock him off his feet. She felt her leg hit his and knew she at least landed a hit even if she doesn't knock him down.

A kick? That was no fair! Hwan yelped as Alister's leg cracked into his knees and knocked him on the ground. He'd been expecting punches in return and had ducked in anticipation so the lower body sweep had taken him by surprise. Grinding his teeth in frustration and embarrassment, he wondered if the blushing purple boy had had more training than his physique implied. Well whatever, he wasn't going down so easily!
"Heh, anything goes, huh?" Pulling himself up off the ground, a hand rubbed at his aching right kneecap before he got himself back in stance. He had to use the advantages that he had which were admittingly few. The earlier slight hesitation to hit him was all he had to work with for now and he figured it meant Alister, while competent, did not particularly enjoy hitting people. That or he hated smacking people weaker than himself and though Hwan to be a non-threat which the dark haired boy wouldn't stand for! Feinting a lunge forward, he hoped to spook the other boy into flinching before darting at him from a side angle to knock him down. The plan was to straddle and restrain his arms against the ground.
"Earlier you called me Jeong, didn't you? I'm gonna make you remember my name," Grabbing at Alister's upper body, the shorter teen tried to lower his voice in an effort to sound cooler, "Hwan-jae, don't forget it." In truth, he didn't really mind when people mixed him and his brother up (hell he almost encouraged it because it helped with their mischief) but it was fun to pick on his brother's roommates and he either wanted to charm them or scare them into letting him stay in their room at night.
((Alister doesn't have to go down again, they can just sort of wrestle and try to knock each other over. Or if you have a more chaotic idea, go for it!))

KitsuneAura Sorry this took so long. If you wanna continue this after the thread closes/ends let me know. ;-; (AlsoI'msorryIsuckatfightscenes) Lillian did her best to put forth the most uncondescending face she could muster. She wasn't good at formalities, but she didn't want to be rude. After all, it looked like she could have gotten a worse partner. Lillian took a defensive stance, readying herself. She could fight, yes, but fighting wasn't all about who could throw the best punch. If you managed to come out of a fight unharmed you were the better person, right? At least.. that thought sounded good in her head. She fidgeted a bit, finding herself questioning herself. Could she fight? Could she survive this place? She thought herself sure, but listening to the other groups around her throw their punches around made her second guess. "Well.. let's see what you've got first, then we'll decide?" She watched the other girl psyche herself up in anticipation. She caught herself waiting. Waiting, then quickly pulling up her arms to block. It wasn't a bad shot, even for a first punch. "If it makes you feel better... you're not the only one nervous." She caught herself, this wasn't really the best place to talk, but she felt the need to say that. She straightened herself up and pushed her bangs out of her eyes. " Right then, for the sake of our instructor not deducting points off.. my turn." She got out of her defensive position, trying to do her best to mimic their instructors stance as well. Shoulders back, leaning forward, she threw out a punch with a medium speed, not really looking to catch the other off guard.

Astro Zombies` No worries! And that'd be cool with me if you want to continue it after! Or we could make it a follow-up, 'let's try this again now that we aren't so nervous' sparring rp? Whatever you think! Lillian's arms went up to block and Larisa's fist slammed right into them. She was pleasantly surprised by the force of it, having been a little afraid her nervousness would cause her to hesitate and strike weakly, but her eyes flickered immediately up to her partner's face to judge her opinion on the punch. She blinked as the other blonde spoke, then nodded with a warm smile. "That does make me feel a bit better, actually, thank you." And then it was Lillian's turn to try out an attack, so Larisa gave another determined nod and pulled her arms up to block. It was still tempting to duck away, but they'd been instructed against that, so she would push through!
As the blow hit, Larisa winced, flinching back slightly before deciding it wasn't as bad as it might have been. They were going pretty easy on each other since they weren't very sure of themselves, taking things slow, but as she glanced around at the other fights she thought maybe they could stand to speed things up a little now that the first hits were out of the way. "Good job! Alright, then next up is-!" Ervette had also spoken to them all about grappling, so maybe...
Taking another deep breath to steady herself, she moved forward as Lillian began to pull her arm back, using her left hand to grab that arm and push out wide while her right latched onto Lillian's shoulder. While she pushed back on her shoulder, she hooked a foot around Lillian's and pulled to trip her up. If she was doing it right, it should bring her down to the ground, but really that seemed like an awfully big if, didn't it? And she hadn't been moving as quickly as she probably ought to have, either, so there was always the chance of a counter instead.

Alec perhaps should have been less concerned with being respectful, because her quickly rushing forward caught him off guard. He tried to block her incoming attack, but his reaction wasn't quick enough and he felt her closed fist slam into his chest causing him to yelp in discomfort, cringing as he let out a breath swinging at her poorly, he missed his elbow making contact with her side forcing himself to cough as the air in his lungs had been pulled from him. Raising a hand for a moment, it was the fifteen-year-old's turn to need to catch his breath before continuing. Ervette's instructions on how to place a blow to a fellow human had its credit for working. After he'd had his moment to recover, he raised his fists, readying himself to go on the offensive, not backing off this time in order to trade blows. Neither were ready to cave just yet, although they'd sustained an even amount of damage. Alec was certain he'd feel them long after their match and into the next morning. Renekai 1: Zin gets to counter attack 2: Alec misses 3: Alec gets in a hit 4: Critical hit!
