Things had been going well, more or less. The white mooners had seemed to be focused on the general of the group, which was good. Buddy seemed to have a flare for the dramatic and theatrics, as though she hadn't already known that, but it was a good thing in this instance.

But, apparently, not everyone on the other side was happy with the stalemate and distraction. Suddenly there was an eternal flying at them and Cinnabar stiffened as she managed to sneak past the guards to snag one of the 'captives' and pull her out of the circle. Then, fire was flaring up as one of the lights exploded and Cin's mind was set. Schörl could protect Galena far better than she could right now and they had a problem to deal with.

Not linked in with the general that was holding back the others, there was nothing to hold Cinnabar back as she rushed the eternal senshi in a brutal tackle, shoulder lowered to take her in the stomach. As soon as she connected though, the head strong lieutenant pulled back and grabbed for a wrist, falling back on her Krav Maga training for a painful twist that would hopefully bring the senshi to her knees. A fighter on their knees was vulnerable and it would give her a far better position to deliver some punishing blows.

Jade had been relatively quiet during Buddingtonite's tirade. Her gaze was set on ground, and expression on her face was serious, as she was thinking of her next move. She wondered would she look like being guilty or gunning or anything like that. Would she be believable?

From the corner of her eyes she saw Gunn approaching and as soon flames spread around, her feet started to move her as far from the fire as possible. Was that senshi insane? She could been killed! She, their supposed ally! Silently, she felt gratitude towards Buddy who let her to move behind him. Frantically looking around at her surroundings she continued walking backwards, her expression now genuinely alarmed.

Suddenly, she lost her balance and fell down on her bottom. For a moment, she closed her eyes tightly and let a gasp out, yet kept herself quiet. It had hurt but there was something more that had hurt more. And it was.... her pride.

However, words that came out from the general's mouth next sounded a bit... strange.... 'What are you planning now, general?' ...It was clear he was coming towards her direction. And there was something in that walk of his... something ominous.

Once, she closed her eyes and lt out a breath, trying to focus on the mission an keep the right state of mind on.

Remember, he is an enemy in this play...and you, you are his prey... So, act like a prey..

Now, if Buddingtonite had expected her to wait for him coming over, he would find himself surprised. Because his captive, his dear lieutenant in civilian disguise was now kicking the ground between them, giving her best to keep distance between them and trying stand up while her hands were still tied behind her back. She was trying to keep her focus on this attempt of escape and not look at him, fearing a little of herself giving a wrong impression and failing the mission. And failure, that was unaccepted.

Gunn had gone in, guns blazing (pun intended) before Kallicore and the others nearby could assess the situation. The Eternal frowned and stood her ground, speaking to the senshi and cat near her (Cybele, Thraen, Cora if you guys are still there, holy god so much to keep track of).

"And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why one doesn't act before thinking."

Now that any plan anyone might have had was ruined, Kallichore decided to start figuring out what the hell was going on. Last time there were hostages, Bischofite was in charge. Dropping into a run, Kallichore figured Gunn would draw most of the attention and she could start picking off some of the officers around the perimeter. Take the weak ones out first. If they don't have the numbers, they're easier to contain.

(I have no idea who is where anymore so if any Nega wants to engage Kallichore, feel free.)

Though she hadn't expected a Negaverse general to go after the pink-haired hostage, she realized that she should have for one of two reasons: first, he really wanted to hang on to his hostage, or second, the hostage was not actually a hostage. Senses already on high alert pinged still higher at Serpentine's swift reaction to the movement of the girl. So, one hostage temporarily freed, then recovered by the Negaverse. If it were her priority, Gunn would be upset.

A marble pinged off her head and she scowled, but otherwise disregarded it; if the Negaverser in question only had marbles, it'd be better to leave them to the lower-ranked or less experienced of the group. Gunn wasn't going to completely count out a Lieutenant as a threat, because that'd be stupid, but a Lieutenant who picked a specific fight with a senshi much stronger than they would last about twenty seconds in real time.

"Prove they're senshi," she shouted at Buddingtonite, over the flames and the sparking of the floodlight. "Give me a henshin pen, a real one, and maybe I'll stop!" She wouldn't. But if he really did want to resolve it peacefully, well, the pen would be evidence in his favor. She heard the ebb and flow of the battle around her, felt the curious lessening of her adrenaline and ire at another senshi's call, but part of discipline was continuing to fight even if she didn't particularly feel it anymore.

Off to the side, she saw Cybele intercept Empressite, the blue-haired lieutenant who'd been holding the hostage Gunn had thrown. The pale-colored senshi looked more than able to handle the Lieutenant (pinging as Super to Gunn's admittedly poorly honed senses) and besides that, Gunn had drawn attention of her own. The black-clad corrupted senshi was blowing flower petals at her, and though she tried to get out of range--she knew from Ares just how deadly harmless-looking attacks could be--she couldn't in time.

She felt… well, to say she didn't know the feeling of regret would be wrong. What she was uncertain about was what she felt regretful about. Throwing the senshi? Blowing up her senshiphone? (She'd need a new one, she guessed. Did those regenerate?) It was enough to give her pause, but training kicked in again and she hauled off to grab his outstretched arm. When she had a good grip, she yanked him towards her even as she dropped towards the ground, basically tripping him with her own body. With the enemy senshi off balance, she grabbed hold of his shoulders and threw him at the whip-wielding General (Serp).

With the senshi neutralized (for the moment, Gunn was sure he'd come back) she was free to--take a shoulder in the gut? The hit wasn't as effective as it could have been, with the dark-haired lieutenant (Cinnabar) backing off as soon as she made contact. By then, Gunn was on her guard; though Cinnabar grabbed for her wrist, Gunn yanked her arms close to her chest. "Oh no you don't, b***h," said Gunn, "two can play this ******** game." She shifted her weight smoothly to her back foot, aiming a kick at Cinnabar's midsection even before she finished talking.

Lellouch knelt in font of the girl, chin in her hands and elbows propped on knees she watched her little hostage get ready. She did not envy the girl at all. Been there, done that. Never again. Deja vu in the worst sense. The girl looked far to happy about being used as bait. The blonde sighed and just frowned at the playful grin and wink. "It's Lellouch." She muttered as she glanced at the others around them. Hadn't she been in this situation once before too? Calling people little pet names only to be told their real name. Oh well.. Details. She recognized few of the group around them. Buddingtonite, Turquoise, Schörl and that twip of a blue haired corrupt.

It was clear to see that this plan was not going exactly to plan, and from where General Buddingtonite stood, it was clear that whatever control he had over this crowd was going to the dogs. Not that one could see the annoyance or panic in his gaze from this angle as he made his approach to Jade, but he figured that there'd still be time to get her out of here, or at least in a safer position before someone sought to bring the fight up to him.

To give the crazy fire senshi credit, she did bring up a decent point, but Buddingtonite would have none of it. Hell was breaking loose and considering that she had already unleashed an attack against not only the hostages, but the people below without a thought or care to her little stunt backfiring, it was clear that trying to 'prove' himself would have been a colossal waste of time. There was brave, and then there was just crazy, and Buddingtonite knew crazy, more than anyone else there. And thankfully, the need to provide 'proof' was deemed unnecessary when Cinnabar and Kerebos made their strikes against her. Which left him alone with Jade.

Jade was acting well on her part and if there was a moment, Buddingtonite would have showered her with praise. The look of fear on her face was almost genuine and it was almost enough to stop him, but he had to get her out of here, at least so that she could transform and defend herself. He rushed at her, grabbing the cloth at her chest and lifting her up with his bandaged hand, grunting as he did so. This had to be the hand he held her with, so that the other could reach in and dig out the starseed. Normally it wouldn't take much effort to lift her, but it took a little extra, and he had wondered why though only for a second. The moment Gra's hold tightened, he remembered where that energy went, and when he lifted Jade completely off her feet, he whispered harshly to her, before bringing his other hand towards her chest. "I'm terribly sorry about this, but scream... loudly... and play dead."

Then, he wrapped his good arm around her body in an almost sensual manner, and with his bandaged hand, he plunged his hands deep into her chest. It would hurt, she would scream, and he steeled himself for it, laughing loudly so that he could drown out her pain when she screamed. He didn't want to hurt her, but... he had to put on a good show.

Except the pain wasn't an act. Neither hers, nor his.

Because Cybele was fairly used to having her punches dodged, and was being very careful with her momentum in fear of somehow running off the rooftop, she didn't take too long to recover. She was paying a little to much attention to everything else, though. The senshi who had started all of this (Gunn) was now throwing people, Negaversers, of course, but the whole thing was way too high up and the throwing was way to close to her for Cybele to be okay with it.

Someone else- that other Eternal (Kallichore)?- was saying something about thinking before acting when Cybele's thoughts were interrupted by a fist to the side of her stomach. She briefly doubled over with a gasp. Now obviously wasn't the time to consider the consequences of her actions, or to think about other people's at all. She had more important things to do, like staying alive. She glanced up at Empressite."Apparently not enough," she mumbled through clenched teeth as she straightened. Her midsection ached, but she'd been through much worse. She could still breathe pretty well, even. "But... that was sort of the point," she added more threateningly as she kicked at the other girl's legs.

Buddingtonite!!

Ganymede had the sort of voice that grated on the nerves. Not high pitched in that sickeningly sweet quality many girls her age tended to be cursed with, but it had the habit of testing people. Lower in pitch, sultry and seductive in a way that occasionally came off as surprising when issued from such a young, fresh looking face, Ganymede was nonetheless unintentionally loud. Even in her quiet moments her voice carried farther than she meant it to.

Of course, in situations such as this, she'd learned to use that to her advantage. She could bellow with the power and ferocity of someone twice her size. The General's name carried over the shouting and skirmishes that preceded her. To anyone else it might not have seemed entirely threatening, but to this man, she hoped, it might be enough to give him pause.

She landed on a nearby rooftop, coming to a stop by the familiar figures of Europa and Leda as her voice echoed over the expanse between buildings. Her heart rate was up from the run over, her veins coursing with adrenaline. Almost unnoticeable were the frequent tremors of building anxiety. She felt keyed up, unnecessarily high strung, and the scene atop the department store wasn't helping matters in the least.

Buddingtonite!!” she called again. He was just a little too close to a figure that, from this vantage point, looked to be a civilian (Jade) for her comfort. The movement of his hand toward her chest was rather unmistakable. “You pull her starseed and you know what'll happen! Tormenting kids not enough for you these days, is it?

There was something about this entire set-up that didn't seem quite right to her. Hostages were, after all, a common theme with the Negaverse.

“You think this is a trap?” Ganymede said with a quick look toward Europa and Leda. “It feels like a trap. The city being out of power is bad enough. This is too convenient.”

Quote:
OOC Note: For plot reasons, Ganymede's aura currently feels a little odd. It wouldn't really be noticeable under normal circumstances, at least until you got used to feeling it, but in a crowd of other Senshi it might stand out ever so slightly. It is no more powerful than any other Eternal, but it feels particularly pure and clear. If an Order character normally feels sickeningly sweet to an agent of Chaos, Ganymede currently feels sickeningly sweet with a cherry on top. It's also very attractive to youma. If anyone wants to notice it, Order or Chaos, you're more than welcome to! But Ganymede has absolutely no idea about it and obviously can't feel it herself!

Valhalla was not far behind Ganymede, landing on the roof next to her, Europa, and Leda soon after she made her threat known to Buddingtonite. He had his compass in hand, ready to use his magic if needed, but he couldn’t help but keep glancing curiously over at Ganymede. There was something off, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. Naturally, she didn’t believe him when he said there was something strange going on with her, so all he could do was observe.

“You two okay?” he asked, looking over both Europa and Leda in concern as well, before looking back over to where there seemed to be hostages. A senshi he didn’t recognize (Gunn) was yelling at them to prove the hostages were senshi -- “They have senshi as hostages??” he sputtered, trying to determine through the darkness exactly what was going on. Was it possible that they managed to take senshi hostage as civilians?? He couldn’t tell if they weren’t powered up, but it was bad enough that they took hostages at all.

But why not just kill them and lessen the chance of their escape…? Why bother with hostages? Not that he was complaining about having a chance to get them to safety, but… it seemed sloppy.

Leda looked rather upset, and it was difficult for him not to notice. “Hey,” he spoke to her, trying to distract her from what was upsetting her. “Just breathe, okay?” Valhalla didn’t know what else to say to her, not knowing what caused her distress, but she should at least know she wasn’t alone. In the meantime, he was just as curious to hear Europa’s thoughts on the matter. Kallichore was certainly already in the fight, and he only wanted to hold back long enough to come up with a plan.

Lyceum was a little more than freaked out by the show that was being put on. She jumped slightly when one of their own started setting fires with nothing, magic of course, but still it was odd to see. This was all a lot to take in, this sort of thing probably happened often enough, but she had never been apart of it. She was currently cursing her curiosity while wondering if she was being shown more of the truth. She already had so much to think about where the code was concerned and now this.

A civilian was thrown, fighting was breaking out and other's were going up to help. A shout of the general's name already confirmed what she knew. It really was Buddy on that roof and what was he doing now? She acted, her feet moving before she really really realized it and she found her self up on the roof (???), to the side and behind Ganymede a bit.

"Buddy," she started trying to sound calm but her voice was shaking moving a little closer, "this isn't like you right? This isn't what you do. You're about recruitment. That's what you said ... infiltration. I don't know what going on, but stop, please just stop."

It hardly sounded calm at all after seeing his hand in the girls chest and the other seeming to think that he was going to pull her starseed out, instead it was rushed and panicked. She probably sounded very naive, and at the very least it was obvious that she had talked to him, that she knew him. That she might be a problem.

She took a step back and looked to Ganymede her expression still frantic, a woman totally out of her element, "A trap ..."

At Leda's distress, Europa felt her heart lurch. She could deal with this, she assured herself. Not everyone was Gunn, headstrong and self-assured. Some people needed a little bit of help to unlock their true potential and that was okay. "Cora's right," she said, although her arrival seemed to have very nearly heralded the guardian cat's departure. "Their hostages - some of them - are too old to be senshi."

Ganymede and Valhalla's arrival reassured her, and Europa offered her friends a grim smile before agreeing. "I do think it's a trap," she said, partly for Leda's benefit. "Remember White Phoenix?" she asked Ganymede specifically. "Taking hostages to lure the enemy into an ambush? This is a classic tactic. We've all seen it before."

Ganymede, she thought, felt a bit odd - but they had bigger issues to deal with right now, and it wasn't a bad sort of odd. She'd ask once this was over.

"Gunn doesn't think those hostages are really senshi," she called to Valhalla. "Neither does one of the cats. They're too old, and she's seen the Negaverse pull this exact stunt before. So they're either civilians, or-"

She didn't trust the Negaverse to be such believable actors, but then, she knew they'd all be dedicated to their cause. And she'd seen the ploy before, on a smaller scale, just a few weeks ago. "Or they're officers and corrupt senshi," she finished. "Either way, the hostages aren't the point. It's a trap."

But, she wondered, looking towards the fighting - what, exactly, was the trap?

So her fist made contact, great. But apparently something had caught her opponent's attention and her fist only made contact with Cybele's side. Not as effective as it could have been had she hit
as she had intended. A miscalculation. And one Empressite would remember and work on, so that it wouldn't happen again.

After the ineffective punch, she backed up swiftly, expecting the other's retaliation to come in the form of another punch, so she didn't want to be too close.

She wasn't expecting the kick, so when her leg lashed out, Empressite had miliseconds to react. To back up too much would lead to the edge of the building where one wrong move could toss her over the edge (she was still new enough a lieutenant she didn't know how fast injuries healed, or if she could survive such a fall, what her limits were – all important pieces of information she would need to learn before being involved in a battle like this again), but still she wasn't about to absorb the full impact of the kick. So she jumped straight up. But it wasn't fast enough, and her ankles caught the full strength of the kick, and she fell – hard – rolling as she hit the rooftop.

The impact drove the air out of her lungs. Her ribs ached – damn it, they had not been long healed from the last injury – and she knew the ankle was more than likely dislocated, possibly broken. The smart thing to do would be to get up and withdraw, she could do so without fear of reprisal or being labled a coward, but … she just couldn't bring herself to do so.

Steeling her nerves, knowing that to move was going to hurt like hell, she got to her feet.

This had not been one of the evenings that Marlin had planned to go out patrolling as his powered counterpart Falias. Instead he had been out on the balcony busy watering his tomato plants when he'd noticed the street lights winking out one by one, followed by lights in the neighbouring buildings.

Whilst power cuts could and did happen, something about this one didn't feel normal, although that could just be his experiences as Falias talking, either way it couldn't hurt to look and so after slipping around and out of the apartment quietly so as not to disturb Donovan if he was around, Marlin slipped outside and into the evening.

He tried hard to make sure not to power up near the shop and tonight was no exception, even so it didn't take long for him to find somewhere secluded enough to power up into Falias and as a Squire he sensed what he as Marlin had not - that there seemed to be a strangely large amount of chaos auras out and about.

Following the auras had led him to a large department store and the combination of the large number of dark auras of varying strengths along with the floodlight coming from the roof had been suspicious enough to warrant further investigation, especially as he was also picking up on senshi and knight auras again of varying strengths.

Heading towards the building with the full intention of heading up to the roof, given that whatever was happening appeared to be happening up there he had found himself hailed by a talking cat, a small tabby bobtail cat with a jade forehead star, who had gone on and on until Falias had agreed to take the little cat with him to the top of the roof.

It hadn't taken long to reach the roof, even with the cat a solid little weight against his shoulder, however Falias wasn't expecting the scene in front of him. Trouble yes, but from what he could see of the situation it seemed like he had stumbled on what looked to be part some sort of hostage situation, part skirmish around a red-haired eternal senshi who was yelling something about a henshin pen.

His attention was brought back to the talking cat as he, the voice had sounded like a he, suddenly slipped off his shoulders and darted off before he could call out more than a wait. So that left him and... Glancing around he spotted a familiar Jupiter Knight and started to make his way over towards Valhalla's direction, calling out when he was close enough to the Knight and the group around him "Valhalla, you wouldn't happen to know what's going on would you?" His attention was distracted by sudden laughter however, head turning round in time to catch a Nega-General (Buddingtonite) sticking his hand in what looked like a civilian's chest. "s**t."

Hope you don't mind me sending the confused Squire your way

Quote:

------------------------------------

It was the lights suddenly going out all over the place that first caught Liryn's attention, it wasn't just building lights either but street lights too and Liryn had been wandering the streets of Destiny City long enough to know that they usually stayed on even when some of the building lights were turned off... And then he had sensed the auras, lots and lots of dark auras which meant there was nothing for it but that he track them so that he could check out what was going on.

The auras had led him to a large building (the department store), the auras and two very bright lights coming from the roof which had led to a problem - being a cat Liryn had had no way up there. Liryn wasn't going to let a minor hiccup stop him however, particularly as whatever was going on was coming from that very rooftop, which is why when the Squire had turned up Liryn had inveigled a lift up to the roof via the pinkish-haired Squire's shoulder.

Mission gain access to the rooftop accomplished, Liryn had slipped from the Squire's shoulder and darted towards a group of what looked to be mainly senshi. Now he was on the rooftop he had a new mission, find out what was going on and do his kitty best to stop the grouped Negaverse from doing whatever they were planning.

Acubens felt the order aura coming as she crept along the side of the building. Night and nights of trying to track down or else keep an eye out for Bsichofite had forced her to keep her senses sharply atuned for anyone approaching. She didn't turn around, but nodded as Andronicus announced her presence.

"Good," she muttered under her, painfully aware of how her heels clacked on the pavement. "We're going to need all the help we can get." Her words were almost drowned out by how sharply her footwear sounded off of the empty walls around them. The sound cut through her nerves as definitely as it did the silence around her. This wouldn't do. It gave her position away and right now she wasn't looking for a fight, she was just looking for some answers. She signaled to Andronicus that she would be halting with her raised hands and stooped to remove her shoes. No real need for them right now, so she set them aside and left them. They would reappear on her body when she powered up next anyway, the same as her costume always repaired and cleaned itself.

"Try to silence anything you can. We're running recon right now, not offense," she whispered back to the knight behind her.

Megrez was all ready to sock the nearest Negaverse officer as hard as she could, but it seemed like everyone was engaged or otherwise doing something, leaving Megrez a bit unsure as to who needed help. All of her battles thus far had been one-on-one affairs, so mobs like this left her feeling a little boggled. She was having trouble keeping track of who was coming or going; it seemed like a group was out of the fray trying to work out what was going on, which was all fine and dandy, but just puzzling wouldn't get anything done.

It was then she saw Buddingtonite (so that was his name, according to what the strange-feeling senshi- Ganymede- had shouted) in full starseed-yanking position. Her soft, sharp hiss of "s**t" was almost exactly in sync with that of the squire who had just arrived (Falias). Why was no one doing anything to stop or at least slow down the starseed yank?! Yes, some people were shouting at him, but just shouting wasn't going to jar him, surely. The guy had that weird thing (a youma, most likely) wrapped around him, but something had to be done. Cupping one hand and conjuring an egg, she flung it at the General with a shout of "Hands OFF!" It probably wouldn't even reach him, but at least she would have actually done something.

litian
A mention for now.

Just a mention.

That egg is probably not going to do anything if it even comes close to Buddingtonite, but Megrez wouldn't pass up what seemed like good timing...
