No one told him it was going to be easy to try and survive in a world where you could give the one you loved everything she wanted. He was trying, harder each time, but now they'd come to nothing but battling a giant, faceless creature in hopes that - what? That they would be spared if they won? They knew better. They were going to be replaced by creations from within the game, if they won. They were never going to get sent home, never going to live out their lives in Wonderland like Mimsy wanted, and never going to survive. Yet still everyone fought as hard as they could to fight the queen. He turned to his left - someone was clawing at it with their cheshire claws. He turned to his right - a weapon went flying in the air, trying to embed itself in the White Queens formless body. Did any of these people understand what they were fighting for?
He wanted to accept that this was the end game. This was the whole point of the game, and they were going to have to do it, because they had no choice. But it was becoming harder, and harder to blindly follow, nowadays. The smarter he'd gotten, the harder it was to be dumb.
He missed being dumb enough to never ask questions.
Mimsy had already thrown a heal at him, but he saw her fall, giving up on the fight when her own health waned. He was moving towards her when the weapon summoned in his hand, glowing gold and black and reminding him of something from a long time ago.
Can't you even hear me anymore?
He lifted his weapon up and touched Mimsy with the heart at the end of it, healing her as best as he could. He'd never summoned a weapon before, other than his own cards. It felt familiar. It felt right.
It's not right. dumbass. It should be me. That should be me you're holding. Why can't you hear me anymore?
He winced as the noise of the voices in his head confused him, and knew that all of the fight he'd had in him was leaving. He dropped to Mimsy's side, letting his newfound weapon soothe her wounds while he tried to figure out how to save them both.
Both? Not even going to acknowledge I exist? a*****e.
There was a world they lived in, long ago. He didn't feel a hell of a lot of hope left for getting back there, anytime soon.

Everything had been for this moment. Had this been what his journey had been leading up to? Collecting all those shards, completing mundane tasks... Was this what the fragments were for? To take down the opposing queen? Even nearing the end of his journey, he had so many unanswered questions, and felt even more lost than before. And yet, he still pressed on, because there really was nothing else left to do.

Even while fighting, he wondered how Sherry was doing. If she wasn't here... that meant... she was in the opposing faction, wasn't she? He hoped she was doing alright, though he should... probably focus on this fight first.

With that last attack, his illusion puppet faded, leaving him vulnerable. But that didn't mean he was going to give up, no. He'd continue to stand strong until the very end.

As the queen struck back, his body phased out, the attack passing through him. Even if he was keeping himself relatively uninjured, if he didn't use these opportunities given him and actually deliver a decent strike, he'd be squandering it all the same.

She flexed her fingers, and pulled a card from her deck. "Illusion." She flickered and a copy of herself appeared next to her. Phymi and her illusion nodded to each other.
Time to end this.
"I shall lay you to rest!" Her cards shifted as she sprinted forward to attack the queen with her copy. Claws materilized on her hands and she slashed out.
Both took hits in the process, but they could do this.

He had made the call for an attack and now here he was. Shun still wasn't entirely certain if this was really the most ideal path for them to take, but they really didn't have a lot of options. He closed his good eye, taking in a deep breath. They were going to break out. One way or another. And he knew his guild had some of the best damn players in this game. They had made sure of it.
Rolling his shoulder, he prepared his blade, crouching down as he stared down the White Queen of Grief. A shadow of his figure appeared next to him. Between the two of them, they flanked the queen to strike.

Shun's daggers appeared in his hands. The familiar feeling of them being held always was good. Moving in, along with his double, he lashed out several times, aiming for vital locations. A stab to the heart. A slash to the throat. If they were going to be fighting these queens, he sure as hell was going to give it his all...
Even if he was uncertain of what the outcome of this would be.
Would there be anything left of him after this was all said and done? He closed his good eye and shook his head to himself. No. He shouldn't be thinking about such things right now. Focus on the fight.
