Harlen Sinclair

I feel cold tendrils slither down my spine making goosebumps appear on my arms. I take a steady breath as I looked down in a dark alleyway waiting for a soul. I see my breath as I wait and listen. I can hear music playing in the building under my feet, I wasn't sure what it was, but it seemed like some sort of club. It's... so sweaty in there... I can smell it from here... and the drinks... I shrug my shoulders as I let my thoughts go back to what is going to happen. I move my feet enough to kneel on the edge of the building without having to much difficulty looking down in the alley. I sigh, the whispy mist of my breath clings to me, I close my eyes as I wait for the surge to go through me. I reach out and touch a metal rod on my back. I turn my blank gaze toward the sky and blink away the rain that hits my eyes. I listen to the pitter patter of the rain hitting the concrete ground and the soft booms resounding through the building below me. I lower my gaze back down to the ground and see a man blunder around. I stand and pull at the medal rod. Hidden straps become undone as I pull at my scythe. With a hiss I could see my scythe extended in front of me. I look at my scythe and I see my blank eyes. It's time.... I lower my scythe and take a small step off the roof. I stay floating and unseen as I watch the human blunder around.
The man has a bottle, a green one sloshing with the horrid liquid. I sigh in boredom knowing how he would die. The man gives a hearty laugh before keeling over a trash can. He yells grotesque words as he tries to get back up. I shake my head and I lower myself getting closer. This man.. is taking a long time to die... I sigh, but I turn back to the dark sky and let the rain slip past my collar to cool down my feverish skin. This day needs to end.... I need to go to that stupid school.... and find some type of room.... I look in the direction of the school wanting to go to sleep. I'm dead, but even the dead need sleep... I mindlessly spin my scythe in circles as I try to patiently wait for the man in the alley to die.
