Yeah, well, everyone knows that the Jews are evil blood-sucking robot ninja-rejects from the fiery pits of hell who eat babies and bathe in pennies.

Oh, and they were the ones who wrote the early version of the Bible, aka teh Tora+Talmud or the Old Testament. They weren't predicting, they were planning.....THEY WANT OUR SOULS! BEJEBUS.

Also, you try working telemarketing for a year.

THERE IS NO GOD, TRUST ME.

The First Council of Nicaea (invoked by Constantine) was in 325AD where Arianism was declared heresy. In the 13th Century a Pope would have called an council, it would be after the first of the scisms.

If there was a major rewrite then it would have been noticed considering the books of the Hebrew Bible found with the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Basically, the idea that the Bible is mistranslated is pretty much a myth (ignoring the infamous bad translations like the KJB)
maybe but its not impossible that it wasnt mistranslated since it was translated so many times into so many languages,

The documents they were translated from were not lost, we have old versions of the books of the Bible in the original languages (or close about). The translation argument does not hold up.

The books of the Bible are parts of the Judeo-Christan mythology. They may not be accurate in what they say, but the modern translations are close to what was originally written (or so it is believed, or every decent theologian would not appeal to scripture).

True dat, Playa. I love God. Also, his son Jesus is my saviour. Stfu If you want to trash my religion, people, because I don't trash yours (unless your in a freaky cult or some s**t).

So you're saying cults are wrong? That's mightily un-Christian of you, to not be accepting of the faith-based beliefs of all others.

Eternal Moment
The way I see it, if God wanted me to believe in them then they would have done something about it.

I seriously dont get you people saying God is so loving and forgiving. But in the same breath you're like "You can only get into heaven if you believe in him. Athiests burn in hell." So let me get this straight. This random dude decided to create us and call us his children and says he loves us. Then he's like "Okay I'm gunna give you guys some hints to my existance but will never fully reveal myself so you have to figure out if I do exist or not. If you decide I dont exist you will burn in hell where your soul will be torn apart for eternity. Okay? Go!" Seriously, I just dont buy that.
Wrong. Totally and uterly WRONG.

God created us because He was lonely (or something like that) Angels were made to be servants of Him we were made to be more like His children and friends, hence the spiritual relationship stressed by many Baptist and Protestants.

When Satan rebeled against God he was sent unto Earth which at that time was simply a large ball of water and later after he created Adam and Eve and told them the simple rules not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and then they did anyway because of temptatin and then were corrupted by the evil and were made also to die as punsihment as God fulfilled His promise/threat but instead of having them die on the spot he let them just have a limited life and feel pain throughout as punishment. Yet after this He still made a way for them to be with Him after death, though their sin seperated them from Him during life.

God is merciful even after promising to kill them He let them live and still merciful enough to let them be able to be with Him after death and not only this but forgave us for all our sins and sent His son to die on the cross and rose again so we praise a living God.

As you can see it originally wasn't a guuessing game but our sin has seperated us from Him.

The Book of Revalations is rather interestng. Probably one of the only parts of the Bible I could actualy read.
Who knows, there just may be a God.
Dunno if there will ever be actual proof cos we'll never know until we burn and die.

Not only that but secular historians have abandond this argument for the most part now it seems most of them are trying to redefine arguments and are only confusing thier followers. stare

--Btw I don't know what I believe, so Im not one of those people who go around and flame all the god threads.--

Although I was corrected, the point still stands. She was still being contradictory to her own belief. She showed intolerance... simple as that.

again someone else said this the bible has been rewritten so many times that no one is really sure

That is not a problem at all given that we have copies of the books in the original (or close to) languages. I would be suprised if a modern exegesis did not contain the books in the most ancient language possible.

Ah. I was pretty convinced that the current version of the Bible is the one rewritten during the council of Nicea, under Emperor Constantin (1290?).

I think it's "Constantine", but I could be wrong.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
'Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mindboggingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existance of God.

'The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."

'"But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguements, you don't. QED."

'"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.

'"Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.'

Which, in some way, does actually prove the non-existance of God. Other than that, we were doing something about this in R.E. last week (and forgive me if the words are misspelt).

A God must be:

- All powerful (omnipotent)
- All loving (benevolent)
- All seeing/knowing (omniscient)

1. If God loves us but cannot see evil, he is not omniscient, ergo, he is not a God.

2. If God can see evil and can stop it but choses not to, he is not benevolent, ergo, he is not a God.

3. If God can see evil and wants to stop it but can't, then he is not omnipotent, ergo, he is not a God.
God did this in the beginning and we went against Him, He gives us free will and waits for us to come back to Him for He is always there waiting for His lost sheep when He sees His children do wrong He is sad but when one lost sheep is found than all the Angels in Heavnes rejoice.

Um militant Muslims are intolerant, and people who try and smother others voices are intolerant. She sidnt say she wouldnt talk to peoples in cults or something or shun them or kill them she just said they were freaky maybe bias but NOT intolerant.
