Ren Yamachi

"This was supposed to be a second chance, not an eternity."

Ren was surprised by the sudden disappearance of the guy, quickly looking around to figure out where the cat-eared man had disappeared to. His answer came to him when he heard the man's voice from behind the girl whom he had allowed to stay in his apartment. "S-Sicko? I'm not a sicko!" Ren exclaimed, obviously hurt by the words of the cat person. How was he a sicko for wanting to pet someone's ears? And who just calls someone a sicko when they just met them!? Maybe it was because Ren was still incredibly immature, but it upset him greatly to be insulted so quickly by someone he had just met. Like a kid being called a name just cause they did something a bit different from everyone else. Just thinking about it made him stare at the cat man with irritation. "You're just a jerk! Calling me names for now reason!" He stated to the man, obviously upset by what he had been called. His feelings were definitely hurt, and unlike with girls he was not reluctant to show it, as no one ever told him he had to be polite to other guys.

It was then that this woman in strange clothing walked up, really strange clothing. Although it sort of fit where they were at currently, or at least it seemed to be. Most people did not like to wear an abundance of clothing when at places like the shoreline. "Services? Nah, I'm good. I don't have money to waste on anything, plus I don't believe in fortune-telling." Ren spoke, oblivious to what the woman was really asking. He then turned to see the girl he was allowing to live in his apartment looking at him with a rather... displeased look on her face. What did he do!? The worry increased as the girl stated that she did not need anything from the woman either and took his elbow. "Wh-Wha?! Did I do something wrong?" Ren asked, oblivious to the current situation. She then told him that the man whom he wanted to pet behind the ears was her boss, letting go of his elbow after she told him. After she let go of his elbow he simply stood there staring at the cat person for a few moments as the girl spoke to her boss about Ren, telling him that he was really nice...

"I don't like him!" Ren stated stubbornly, staring at the cat person with an upset expression on his face. "He's mean and he called me a sicko!" Ren continued to express how upset he was about the name calling. Honestly he sounded kind of childish and, in a strange sense, there was some innocence to his displeasure. Almost like a child unwilling to forgive another kid for stepping on his foot or something of the sort. Who cares if he's her boss, he's not mine. Ren thought to himself stubbornly as he started to look around a bit, his eyes softening a bit as he saw some seagulls perched along the sidewalk. The woman from earlier was still around, but he did not know what else to say to her since he already refused to have his fortune read. After all, there was not much to say after that, right? So instead he merely stood there, feeling slightly out of place since he was upset with the girl's boss, not sure what to say to the strange woman, and his roommate seemed to be busy talking to the cat guy. His eyes began to drift about the area as he waited to be addressed again, playing with Hyo every now and again to try and get his mind off of how upset he was.

"Honestly it doesn't matter. The lightning might actually prove to be beneficial for me anyway." Aiden was getting slightly annoyed. Did it really matter how bad the weather was going to be? Nobody in their little circle seemed to care that much. Aiden tilted his head up towards the sky and felt the first drop of rain. He shared a glance with Addy, who started to bounce on the balls of her feet. He smiled as he slid out a slim, corked vial from his right sleeve. Aiden studied it a moment, holding it up for better lighting. The vial appeared to be empty, that is, until Aiden shook it. The liquid inside turned a bright red and slowly brought itself down to a violet blue color. "It's perfect," he muttered, excited. He uncorked the bottle and downed the liquid in a single gulp, just as the rain started to fall. He felt his magic swell to meet the foreign power that had just entered his system, felt it burn like lava through his veins. This was one of the best feelings, to feel his magic so strongly rise in him. On most other people his potions did not create such a strong effect; Addy always claimed that it was warm going down and that was all.

Although Aiden felt great, he did not look great. He had noticeably paled, and his eyes seemed to glow a brighter blue and seemed almost feverish. He grinned, looking up at the sky again. He could see each water droplet, see what each one was made out of. He could feel the water all around him. He suspected that his own magic had amped the potion's effects, because this wasn't exactly supposed to happen. But still, it was fantastic. Aiden reached out a hand towards the rain and felt the water turn to ice in his palm. Each time a drop touched his skin, it bounced off, completely frozen. Aiden pulled off his hoody, allowing the rain to bounce off his skin in frozen little droplets. A success! Finally, after all the others, this one seemed to work! Aiden shared his happiness with the rest of their group, even grinning up at the phoenix. “This is what I live for.”


Addison, unlike Aiden, didn’t mind all this talk about the weather. She thought it was cute how all the boys were arguing about it. They were doing that weird macho thing that all guys, no matter the species, felt compelled to do. She didn’t get it, but at least it was entertaining. Addison grinned hugely, “Oh I don’t mind lightning, obviously." As she spoke blue white lightning shot up her arms. It was an intimidating gesture, but useless. She had picked up the trick while on the road, out of boredom, but she pretended like she had learned the trick to scare people who would have otherwise have bothered them. She found herself glancing at Tylar, to see if her thing had impressed him. She glanced away, and found herself conveniently distracted by Aiden.

She knew right away that something was up, just by the way he had shifted beside her, and by the way his breathing had subtly changed. She met his eyes and knew for certain that it was time to test the potion. Addy couldn’t help but bounce around in her excitement. Aiden had been working so long and hard on this particular elixir, she hoped that it actually worked properly this time. She watched him swallow down the potion, and the effect was immediate. She could almost taste the magic burning through his body, and she had no sense for these kinds of things. She just knew him so well. He had taken on a feverish look, and his eyes were burning. It was both beautiful and terrifying. She watched in fascination as the water bounced off of his skin in frozen crystals. Clasping his arm, so that he could take her energy if he needed it (Aidens power came from the physical realm, and the twins had discovered a long time ago that he could use Addy’s own energy as a source...), “This is so cool! Can you change the shapes yet?” She asked Aiden, and looked at both Will and Tylar, “Oh yeah, sorry, we’ve been waiting to test this baby out for awhile.”

Well, at least Ren was honest. That was a redeeming factor. Hei Ryung smirked and snapped her fingers at Ren as he dazed off. "Well, Ren, you don't have to like him, but he's my boss, and you're not allowed to touch his ears, kay?" Hei Ryun leaned in, putting up her hand conspirationally beside her mouth. "He's sensitive." She pulled the black kitten off of Ren's shoulder and cradled him against her neck, rubbing her chin against the baby's fuzzy head. Then she sighed and held him out to Ren's face. Hyo meowed. "Make due with Hyo. He likes you. And I like you."

She twisted her neck around to pout at her boss. "And no way am I beating up my land lord. Are you crazy?" she chastised. That should appease both of them, Hei Ryung thought, feeling accomplished. She crossed her arms. "And so far as I know, he's not a sicko. He just...really likes cats." She cleared her throat and stared up at Emilio' ears for a moment before she flicked her eyes back down at the flyer. "So is The Watering Hole a supernaturals' bar? I haven't been able to get into any for a single drop since they're all keeping up the pretense of human bars, so I can't get in."

Lillixandra watched how the water drops froze on Aiden's arm then fell to the ground and shattered. She was lost in fascination as the first drops hit her fiery feathers. Nothing hurt worse than that. She gave a scream, which came out as a fierce shriek of anguish as her surprise and pain knocked her to the ground. She spiraled down towards the group, but reacted at almost the last second to spread her wings and glide majestically into the store behind them.

Lilli still crashed to the floor, her feathers noticeably less bright than usual. She managed to find the one shop on the boardwalk that still used a forge--although it was small--to make trademark skillets and other items. She gave out a little puff of flame from her beak and rose shakily to her clawed feet. The fiery bird hopped closer to the hot forge and let her body flop to the ground. She gave a sigh of relief and relished in the heat, it's properties restoring her.

The rain came down a little heavier outside as a man walked over to her. He seemed to know what he was doing as he scooped her flaming body up off the ground and sat her in the fire. Lillix really hoped Mabel wouldn't find out about her carelessness. She wouldn't hear the end of it for days.

Through the night air came a girls laughter and splashes through the water. "Come on dad come in." A girl with blond hair teenager called out to a man in a purple cloak. He stand on the beach and watched the girl a safe distance away from the water. It was clear the man wasn't going to move from his spot. The girl continued her merry making in the water with out her father to come in after her.

It was just his luck. Some drunk kid knocked into him. This was another reason he hated the beach. The only reason he even came was for his daughter. His hood fell off revealing his blond hair. The vampire turned to face the person who knocked into him. Once his head was turned he noticed the creature was an older one, but younger than him. Then again he was older than a lot of things. He could smell the alcohol on her. "Watch it." He snapped at her. He still wasn't afraid of the woman no mater her age. He turned back to watch his daughter. Other than that he ignored the woman.

Imhotep was about to call his daughter back to dry land when the woman started to talk about her past. He didn't need some old creature talking endlessly about the past. He had been there and done that. Before he could even call out to the girl she stopped talking about it. She at least was a little smarter than most people. "She's a Dhampir. She doesn't have any of the weakness of her father, but she doesn't have the same strength at the same time." He answered the woman. Vampires were always weary of water, being only half of one made Basima stronger than her father in a way.
