Candy looked at the tray and laughed. "Oh no, I didn't even know that they were over here! Anyways, I prefer sweets over tart for the most part." She took a drink of her beverage, feeling the alcohol inside it kick her stomach just a bit.

"So how did the event go for you? Meet any good ones?"

Well, now it seemed like it was time for the single phonies to mix and mingle. Fruit Punch stayed by the wall for a moment, taking note of who was already locked in conversation and who was not, so that he wouldn't butt in on anybody else's time. He wanted to say hi to his besties Doll and Glory, but had come here for a date first and so he'd have to chat the girls up later; it was time to find somebody to hit on, and he was ready to swing the bat. He noticed Rosewrite by himself and decided to approach, but not before grabbing two glasses of champagne on the way.

The bartender crossed the room and greeted the other stallion, flashing one of his best 'lady killer' smiles. "Hey, I'm glad you aren't being hounded right now. I wanted to talk to you, so I thought I'd swoop in and grab your attention before somebody else makes a move. Can I offer you a drink?" He offered one of the drinks to Rosewrite, having picked something light to start the night off with.

Larry smiled as he saw Roc's eye for the first time. Even when they were foals he had those long bangs. He could see the worry, having studied the proper portrail of emotions helps at times. He offered a second glass of wine to Roc.

"I'm not one for such things either. I think my father rubbed off on me when it comes to such things," he sipped his wine as he ran a hoof through his long blond locks again, "He has never had.....ah....flings....as it were despite all the mares and stallions who swoon at the sight of him. He says he is waiting for that special one. The one that makes his heart sing."

Well.... that was an eventful speed dating.

The organizer called the end of the questioning and it was now time to mingle. Rosewrite wanted to make sure that Spica was okay, seeing as she darted out of here as soon as possible, but he would be able to see her later. For now he hope to 'mingle' and speak to people. All while trying to avoid his mom. He didn't want to listen to anyone hitting on her... and he didn't want he to embarrass him in front of any of his possible suitors. He shuddered just thinking about it.

When he looked up a certain stallion was making his way over to him. Fruit Punch's answer to his last question definitely took him by surprise. It also seemed he was going to back up his claim. Rose's ears flicked back seeing his dashing smile and his voice again. "Hello there, Fruit Punch and thank you very much." He took the drink, happily, taking a small sip from it's bubbly content.

Cherpumple nodded, "Oh, they're all nice folk, I imagine. But I really liked talking to you most of all! You seem like the friendlier sort who'd like to have a little fun. The paper said we were supposed to go on a lot of dates, but I don't really feel like seeing lots of someones in less than five minutes is really a date, do you?"

Cherpumple wiped stray food off the basket he'd stashed away under the buffet table. However messy he was while eating, the inside of the basket was pristine. He held up a little bundle of daisies and a little box of hoofmade chocolates.

"Here!" he said proudly. "The award for loveliest speed date goes to you, in my book," Cherpumple laughed jovially.

Fruit Punch was happy to see that the champagne was taken, glad to know that Rosewrite didn't have a problem with talking over drinks. He really was genuinely interested in getting to know the other phony better, even if it didn't wind up amounting to much other than a friendship. The unicorn was pretty selective about the few guys he did hang out with, finding it much easier to get along with girls, but he did think Rose seemed nice and could be fun to hang out with even outside of this event.

"So, Rosewrite. Could you tell me more about yourself? You asked a lot of questions that had to do with books. What exactly do you do for a living?" While he wasn't much of a reader himself, picking up a book and finishing it this year had been one of his resolutions. He had to keep his vocabulary up if he wanted to sound smarter than just a booze aficionado.

"Well, it takes a real badass to make someone's heart sing," Roc laughed his throaty, hiccup-like laugh. "It's okay if he's picky. I heard somewhere that speed dating rarely results in any real long time commitments, but every now and then you meet someone you wouldn't mind sharing at least a beer with."

Roc took the glass of wine. "Or wine, wine's good," Roc offered a grin.

"So... uh, did you find anyone you'd take to the drive-in?"

"I suppose... each of my questions were about books. Dang already putting off the nerd guy impression. Though not as nerdy as some... Well I am around books a lot, not so much of other people's right now mostly working on my own. I've been working on this book... well series of books now, since I was a colt. I study and write down things about plants, often accompanied by pictures, poetry or anything else that might cross my mind."

The pink stallion gave a bit of a shrug, taking another sip of his drink. "Eh, it not much of a living, but it keeps me occupied. What about you, bartender, I can assume?" Rose liked Fruit Punch. He was actually easy to talk to even though all of the charm.

Candy laughed. "I agree! There wasn't a lot of time to really get to know anyone! But I guess that's the point of it? See if you instantly click with someone in particular.

When he produced the gifts, Candy's face was one of surprise. She placed her drink on the table and accepted the flowers and chocolates with a smile and a blush. "How pretty!" she said, insides bubbling with joy. She looked ahead and started over-acting, making her lip wiggle and sniffing loudly.

"I'd...like...to thank the academy for picking me." she said, trying not to laugh. "And of course...my mom, who could no be here tonight..it's such an honor!"

She dropped the act with a loud chuckle, and then said "Really though, this is quite sweet!" She placed them next to where her drink sat, though she picked that back up. "So you are a baker by trade? That's great! I make edible flower arrangements with sweets and fruit and the like." It was always good to meet another phony that liked sweet things as much as she did!

Fruit Punch just chuckled at the mention of Rosewrite being a nerd, shaking his head to gently dismiss the comment. He didn't think there was anything wrong with that, considering two of his three questions had leaned toward partying and alcohol. Everyphony was entitled to like what they liked, and he did try not to judge others too harshly. He listened attentively, nodding in confirmation before he spoke again. "Wow, that's pretty impressive. I've gotta say that I admire you for being willing to do something original, like write your own books. I wouldn't have the courage for that, or even more likely, my inspiration would probably run out before I got more than a few words down. I don't consider what I do to be art, but hey, we're lucky that we get to spend our time doing what we love, right?" He chuckled again, taking a moment to drink some of his champagne before he spoke a second time.

"I was pretty obvious on my questionnaire, huh? Can't really help it, though. I'd always wanted to start my own bar, and now that Cloud Nine's real and a hot spot, I'd say I'm one of the happiest guys alive 'cause I'm livin' the dream. I get to do pretty much whatever I want, and I work with the best crew ever. I have a lot of fun every day and Cloud Nine's what keeps me going."

"What no original drinks? I'm sure it's not all someone else's handy work." Rosewrite said with a bit of a smirk. "But thank you, I am thankful to get to do what I love." He gave a small nod and then continued to listen to what the man had to say about with own work.

"Cloud Nine, eh? Not been there myself, but I definitely heard of it. Since I know the owner now I may just have to visit sometime. My mother met one of your waiter?... Midnight Snack. He pulled her out of a little funk she was having... " Before he knew if he finished off his first glass of champagne. "Mmn, suppose I'll need another glass.~"

"What can I say? I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to making drinks. I don't want to serve a recipe I haven't personally tested for quality myself, but I will put more or less alcohol in your drink depending on whether or not I like you." He loosely shrugged a shoulder, not minding being teased a little. It made him feel good to talk about the bar, his pride and joy, and it was nice to just have somebody listen.

"Mid's got phenomenal skill to match his great personality. Everything he does is good, and I mean everything. I'm not surprised he helped your mom cheer up. But yeah, you're welcome to come and pay us a visit, day or night." Briefly, he wondered about the identity of Rosewrite's mother.... He hoped she wasn't a regular, because he hit on just about every girl that walked into the bar, and that could make things a little awkward. He didn't let his expression change though, continuing to chat away.

"If you come see me when I'm on shift I'll make you whatever you want, my treat. You said you like mint, right? Have you ever tried a chocolate mint mojito? I know it sounds a little crazy, but I can make you a really good one if you want to try it."

He smiled as he clinked his glass with Roc when he took it, "Yes, it is always good to have someone you can enjoy a drink with. Be it beer or wine." He chuckled, liking Roc's interesting laugh. The purple stallion had more charm that Larry realized.

At the question Larry turned his gaze to the crowd mingling around, "Perhaps but most seem more interested in the more physical side of the drive in rather that enjoying each other's company." He pointed to a small purple stallion still overly flirting with most of the females, "Like that guy. Though he only talked to the mares."

He took a sip of the wine, "And you? Also I did enjoy your description of a play, I may write one like that."

Honey looked over the crowd, quite literally given his size. His son seemed to have found a friend in a purple stallion. Others were beginning to talk. He supposed he should at least give this a try. One mare had stood out to him, though her decoration might have had something to do with it. The draft made his way over to Rose Knight, a lovely carousel with pastel colors like spring flowers.

"Good evening. I hope you are enjoying the event," he said in his usual deep toned voice. His horn glowed softly as he held up his hoof, then a beautiful pink rose, similar to the on Rose's saddle grew from what seemed to be nothing. He hid seeds in his hair a lot, despite being so well kept. "It was a pleasure speaking with you today."
