"Hey Cole, I'm assuming y'all left already?"

± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ±

Late. He was very late. For anyone who was at Kansai's International Airport, they would notice a man passing through the crowds, a green slingbag which hung over his shoulder, seeming to be his only luggage. It was an odd sight, but if you took account that he was a tourist, then it was relatively understandable. Besides, he did take the time to bow and properly apologize whenever he accidentally got in someone's way. Luke Richards was someone who enjoyed life, and appreciated the little details of the world, even though not everything about it was fine and dandy. This appreciation was the reason he was rushing out of the airport right now, since he had spent quite some time not only trying out the authentic Japanese cuisine, but also taking pictures with the camera around his neck.

Being too busy appreciating the culture, he had neglected to check his watch for the time, until he had finished snapping photos of things you wouldn't find in the U.S., part of which were signs that were grammatically incorrect. Although he knew he was probably real late in meeting the others out front at the airport, he didn't resent his decisions. Being lucky enough to come to Japan for an event he got personally invited to by Satoshi Tajiri himself, along with finally meeting the rest of his online friends was something he would never look down on. Speaking of friends. After reaching the front of the airport, where the only thing separating him from the cold of December were automatic doors, Luke had gotten out of the way to lean against the wall of the building, so he could pull out his phone.

Out of all the online friends he had within the Pokemon community, he was probably the closest to one Cole Brunel. They had hung out a couple of times whenever Luke wasn't busy with college, and actually had the funding to go to California. Nice place reminding him of a couple of archetypes in anime. The other brown haired boy was kinda reserved and quiet, not that Luke actually mind. It gave him a chance to debate the whole "Red is not Ash" topic in a less heated environment only life could provide. Plus, he could usually get the other boy to at least help him out with battling. A place he did not shine both competitively and for Nuzlockes. "Hey Cole, I'm assuming y'all left already? I got caught up in the food and pictures like usual. So how many of us are there?"

With a couple of taps on his phone's screen, Luke had sent a couple of pics of imperative store sale signs, where a swear word was used improperly, along with a text. By the time he had sent it, the man was already out the door and into the cold of December, where like he had thought, there was no limo or anything waiting for him to pick him up. While calling a taxi, a moment was used for him to go over the letter he had gotten from Satoshi Tajiri, to make sure he didn't miss anything. The letter, in a cheesy congratulations intro, had given him the best news he had gotten in his life. Not only were he and his online friends getting a paid trip to Kyoto, which was his second real world based on region since visiting France, but they were also going to be testing a virtual reality game.

It was a surprise reading that one line, since it had only been two years since Gamefreak had released Pokemon X and Y, and technology didn't exactly seem like it was anywhere near that level. But as an avid reader and believer of the Pokemon conspiracy theories about Gamefreak vented through Creepypasta, it didn't take long for Luke to accept the news was indeed legit. After all, they did get a personal letter from Satoshi Tajiri himself, and from what he recalled throughout his years posting within the Pokemon Community, the man never handled affairs like this. It was always Junichi Masuda who had gone to all those conventions. Luke had taken some time wondering to himself how exactly the system worked, like whether or not the characters would be customizable since they had introduced the concept in X and Y.

It frankly didn't take long before Luke had started talking to Cole about it, although the conversation was casual as always, he never specifically identified the event as anything other than "it", since the letter did specify it was exclusively for them. The horror it might bring to Kyoto if Serebii ever found out before testing was completed still made him shudder. Luckily, Luke had anticipated he was going to end up meeting the others late, and it was no secret that Nintendo also had a headquarters here in Kyoto.

When his cab had arrived, Luke had hopped into the seat and gave out directions to said headquarters in the native language. It was basic stuff he had looked into way back in Freshman year of high school, although he couldn't be bothered to completely learn the language. Whoever said English was a hard language was a complete lie, as it didn't even compare to Japanese, which used a combination of words. As the taxi driver drove off, Luke had taken off his sling bag and dug out his limited edition onyx colored ds which had a gold Palkia and a silver Dialga on it. Not as fancy as his Yveltal covered 3DS, but it was the only way to play his Pokemon Ruby. The volume on max, and earbuds placed in, Luke turned on the familiar splash screen of Groudon surrounded by a pool of lava.

SPEAKING THINKING “Good to know.” The pinkette replied shifting his focus elsewhere. The male didn’t really bother trying to strike up conversation with a person that didn’t feel like engaging in one. It was clear enough to him the kid didn’t want to talk. What was more obvious that a monosyllabic answer and turning to gaze out a window like some high school protagonist? Emir simply returned to paying attention to their tour guide, quietly making notes f thing he would like to visit later on. Time passed quickly enough for him. In between the micro sleeps that he occasionally fell into and actually taking some time to sightsee, he was plenty entertained.

Still, he was excited when the limo stopped at their destination and eager to stretch his legs. Not to mention to put some distance between him and the weird siblings that shared the same limo as him. He excused himself before exiting the stuffy car and taking a few steps towards the grand building, before lifting his arms above his head and stretching out his back. He sighed happily, hearing a soft pop in his back. He glanced back at the limo waiting for everyone to file out while stuffing the empty wrappers into his pocket to throw out later. “Say what’ the schedule now? Are we going straight into beta or do we get some time off beforehand?” he asked, slightly anxious of the response he would get. The time spent in the limo could be considered time off. As much as he wanted to go straight into playing he would have rather had some time to himself away from strangers.

He refrained from making a move to retrieve his luggage, only standing casually while shivering in his light clothes. Kyoto was so cold compared to L.A. He didn’t even know if he had an appropriate winter coat in his suitcase. For a moment he cursed himself for packing so light to make space for souvenirs. Letting out another yawn, the young man turned languidly to get a good view of the Nintendo HQ. His impatience was starting to build up again. He needed to focus on something else. The pinkette glanced down listening for any response from the limo.

Diana couldn't believe how late she was. Getting off the plan she immediately had Bravo and an escort take her to get her luggage. 'I know there was supposed to be a limo or something, but I'm pretty sure I missed that...' She thought to herself as her things were gathered. She sighed as she felt the light tug that indicated Bravo wanted to get a bit off track. "Bravo, we're already late, we don't have time for that." She scolded. The dog whined, but shortly after stopped trying to go off in the wrong direction. Diana wasn't sure how much luggage her parents had sent along, but she hoped they hadn't over packed. She heard a few grunts though, and sighed. 'Did they just pack every console I own? It's not like I can use them..." She thought to herself, sighing a bit at her parents silliness. "Leave the really heavy bags, have them sent back to my parents. I only need my carry on and my clothes." She said, recieving a number of sighs of relief.

She stopped as she reached the exit of the airport. She'd never been out of Ireland, so this was a whole new experience for her. She took a deep breath and stepped out, her eyes flitting from side to side at every new sound beneath their blindfold. 'Wow this place is busy...and loud...nothing like home." She thought, the last portion being muttered out loud. "What was that?" A familiar voice asked, causing her to shake her head. "Oh sorry, just thinking out loud, where's the car, I don't want to be any later than I have to be." She said. She got into the car she was escorted to, Bravo jumping in beside her. "Well...here goes nothing..." She said as the door shut and she heard the car start.

She couldn't really see anything, but she could tell Bravo was having a good time on the trip from the airport to the headquarters. "I bet everyone else is already there...goodness how could I have gotten so late a start?" She said to herself, locating a bottle of water and taking a drink to ease her nerves. She had no idea what to expect, but she knew she'd find out soon enough. She was excited to meet the people she'd messaged and phone so often, but at the same time, it terrified her.

As the limo came to a stop in front of the massive building that Nintendo of Japan called HQ, Eiji was the first one out. There was several other employees already exiting the building to assist him with removing the luggage. Finally, the crew was there. And as suitcases and knapsacks were being unloaded, Eiji turned around just in time to see a taxi pull in behind the limo, as well as a vehicle he wasn't familiar with. "I hope that's the others that are on the list," he said softly to himself.

When everyone had stepped from the respective automobiles, Eiji and his coworkers led them inside. As they walked, Eiji briefed the group on living accommodations. "We have a resting room specially built for you, and you'll be staying there for the duration of the trip. Better than a hotel, I assure you. The event starts tonight, so the rest of the afternoon is yours. Mr. Tajiri will be excited to finally meet everyone in person." He rounded a final turn, and opened a door to a rather open "hotel-esque" room, and made note to the crew that the ladies will be staying in one room, and the guys in the other. With that task complete, Eiji and his coworkers bid the group goodbye and good luck, then departed for their next assignments.

Diana heard the car stop, and waited until the driver had come around to open her door and help her out, holding tight to Bravos' leash so he wouldn't run off in excitement. She smiled softly as her driver left, 'looking' around at the noises she was hearing. There were plenty of people, that was for sure, and she felt she was able to pick out a few voices that might sound familiar. She stood by the car a moment longer until an employee came over to take her bags, and another came to show Bravo where to go.

As the tug of the leash came to her hand, Diana froze a moment, causing Bravo to bark. 'Well that wasn't the brightest idea...' She thought to herself as Bravo tugged again. This time she didn't let nerves get the best of her however, and she followed the dog and the other workers inside. She walked next to Bravo to avoid running into anyone, and listened as whoever was showing them around started to speak about accommodations.

As the crew started to make their departure, Diana put a hand on Bravo's head, before clicking twice. Bravo, in response, led her over to a couch, where she sat down. She wasn't sure who all was in the room anymore, but she was certainly second guessing accepting her invitation. It wasn't really like she could easily strike up a conversation without running into anyone, so she decided it would be best to wait a bit and see if anyone approached her first. Granted, it didn't help that her throat was tightening up whenever she thought of talking.

[ CHRISTIAN ]

Christian was the first out of the limo and immediately looked up at the Nintendo HQ building. It was impressive, but for some reason he expected a little bit more. Oh well, no matter. As he saw the other Japanese workers fetching their bags he smiled and thanked them silently. It was very kind of them to take care of that. Another car as well as a taxi had rolled up behind them and out of the strange car, there stepped a young lady, greeted by a man with an odd-looking guide dog. Christian's thoughts were answered when he saw the girl with bandages strapped over her eyes. Poor girl, he thought, but he quickly shook the thought out of his head. There was nothing worse you can give someone than pity, especially if they've done all they can to overcome whatever disability they might have. Hopefully she does well with the event. Don't suppose she would be invited here otherwise.

He didn't really get to introduce himself as the dog promptly led her over to the girls' side of the living space. Once he walked into the boy's room, Christian had a look around. Better than a hotel, indeed. Well, the place was lavish enough, which was a little odd. They were only here for a short time, what was this place normally used for? What would it be needed for in a place like this, that produced video games? Christian sighed softly and shook the doubts from his mind. He was thinking way too much into this, why not just enjoy the vacation before the real work started. At least a hotel wouldn't bunch everyone into the same room, but it was easier to keep everyone together. Maybe it was a Japanese thing. He couldn't be sure, but the bags were soon brought up and returned to their owners, and Christian went to peer out the large window at the end of the room. Opening up the sizable curtains and letting some light in, the view didn't offer much besides some industrial areas around the place. Again, Christian expected more. Still, might as well make the best of it.

Christian sauntered back to his bed as everyone around him began to unpack. He flopped down onto his bed and stared up at the ceiling for a moment before grabbing his ipod and plugging in. Not that he didn't want to be disturbed, but he might as well sleep of this jet lag before the event started. He expected they would be up rather late. Even though he wanted to block everything out, he kept one ear open, just in case anyone else (besides Pinky) wanted to say hi. After all he really wasn't on speaking terms with many of the fellow event-goers, which was perfectly fine but he figured why not. Just in case...

It wasn't long before Bravo got tired of just sitting in one place. Diana sighed. "Fine..." She said, getting up. Not a moment later Bravo was whisking her off to god knows where. She chuckled a bit, letting Bravo lead her along to wherever they were going. She was careful to stay close to the pup, since she didn't want to run into any walls or anyone. She was glad to hear Bravo happily panting along as he got acquainted with the headquarters building.

Diana sighed after walking for a little while. "You're lost aren't you Bravo?" She asked, looking down at a light whimper. "...great...first day here and I'm already lost." She said, tilting her head some. She couldn't hear anybody else nearby, which wasn't really a good sign. 'What am I gonna do...?' She thought, putting a hand on Bravo's head while she was trying to figure out how to get back to the girls room.

After a a couple more minutes of wandering around, Diana tensed up some. 'I think I'm just getting us even more lost.' She thought to herself, tightening her grip on Bravo's leash as she kept herself from starting to cry. Putting her other hand out, she starting to feel around for a wall, hoping to maybe find a phone of some sort as a result.

Christian finally decided to get up after a short nap. Might as well go explore the place. Judging from the time on his ipod, he still had a few hours to go until they would be called to begin. Christian headed out of the boy's room and started to wander the twisty-turny halls of the floor they were on.

Obviously it didn't take long for Christian to hear something that sounded like a puppy. Soft padded footsteps with faint clicking of claws, a soft whimper now and then; curiosity soon got the better of Christian and he followed the sounds to one corner where he indeed found a dog, attached to a girl. The same girl he saw outside upon their arrival. She was certainly lost. No one else was around but the dog and she was trying her best to feel her way around the place for anything that would help her get back. Christian couldn't help but feel a little bad for her, and he slowly stepped closer. "Are you alright, darlin'? You seem a little lost." He didn't get too close, but close enough that he could help if she wanted it. "I could be of some help."

The sound of another persons footsteps made Diana look up. She was both glad and upset that someone was walking towards them, since that meant someone could help. However, it also meant that she'd have to explain she had gotten lost. She bit her lip, and knelt down next to Bravo as she felt the other persons eyes on her.

Diana flinched almost as he said she looked lost. "Uhm..." She said, before her voice caught in her throat. However, Bravo didn't seem to have the same hesitation, jumping forward. Diana gasped, quickly releasing the leash so he wouldn't drag her, though she fell down regardless. "I'm sorry!" She shouted, hearing Bravo jump at the stranger.

Christian was a little unprepared for the dog- clearly still a pup- darting forward and jumping at him. Frail as Christian was he was able to dodge the first jump before preparing for the second. All he had to do was stand up straighter and adopt a more dominant stance. Putting his hand out to prevent the dog from jumping up helped as it barked twice, trying to jump up, but eventually succumbed and laid down on the ground. "Good boy," Christian said calmly before walking over to the girl. "Stay..."

Gently Christian knelt down and took the girl's arm to help her. "No need to apologize. He's just a pup with energy who needs to learn." He helped the girl back up to her feet and looked to the dog who was still down on the ground like a good boy. "So, I guess you're here for the event? Where did you fly in from?"

Bravo was just a pup, but he was decently trained. After being denied his first jump, he settled down some, and listened as the boy told him what to do. He wagged his tail constantly though as he waited to be told to get back up again. Diana accepted the help and let the boy help her back to her feet. Her cheeks were bright at this point though, mainly due to embarrassment, and the tint would stand out quite a bit against her pale skin and white bandaging.

She shook her head some though as he said she didn't need to apologize. "I should have brought a more experienced dog with me." She said, before tapping her side. At the little signal, Bravo picked up his leash and trotted over to her, putting it back in her hand. "I'm from Ireland..." She added to answer his question, though her voice was a tad quiet.

Now Christian heard the accent that was hidden underneath her soft voice. Clearly she was someone who didn't speak much, but Christian completely understood that. He looked over at the dog who came at once when the girl tapped her leg. Trained indeed, but he still had a ways to go; perhaps she was real life experience for him. Either way, Christian was impressed when he gave her back his leash. "Seems he knows what he's doing. All the same though, he should know better than to pull the girl he's guiding to the ground like that." Before he got too hard on the pup, though, Christian turned once around. Well, I suppose you're exploring, like me, but maybe I could be of better assistance in finding the way back? I mean, curvy as this corridor is, it's still a circle, so you'll get back to where you want to go eventually. Allow me to help." He offered his arm to the girl. Surely he and the dog combined would be better than just the dog on its own.

"My name's Chris, by the way."

Diana nodded. "He's still young, but he's my favorite right now. Very soft." She said, before petting the dog on the head, letting him guide her hand to where he wanted scratched. "He was actually the one who wanted to wander around, he just got himself lost is all. He's not used to navigating on his own yet." She explained.

At his offer for help, Diana shifted which hand the leash was in so that Bravo would be on her other side, rather than bumping into the boy constantly. "I wouldn't mind a little company, to be honest. I still have heard any voices I was familiar with." She said, leaning a tad in Christian's direction, bumping into his arm before straightening up again, so she could figure out his height and closeness to her. "I don't need your arm, unless I trip, which I try not to do. I'll keep up." She added, not wanting to make him hold on to some stranger he'd just met.

Christian nodded and started to walk at the same pace as the other girl, if a little bit ahead of her. "So he has a mind of his own and accidentally led you astray. Makes sense; he'll just have to be more careful in the future. You have a left and a right here coming up." He suddenly wondered if he needed to guide her around the hall since she had the dog, but again, he didnt mind offering his help. Unfortunately, that was sometimes how people found him annoying. "So... do you mind if I ask how you came to be here?" He tried really hard not to be mean or hit a sensitive spot, but his curiosity was winning out.

Diana kept a step behind Christian as he walked, taking the little directional notes he'd give silently. Though she could tell when Bravo was turning a corner, the verbal clarification wasn't a bad addition. "He like to wander, I like to walk, it tends to work out okay most of the time." She said in Bravo's defense.

At his question she thought a moment before answering. "Well, I'm here for the same reason you are I'd imagine. I play the pokemon games and I was invited. I know a few of the others around, but only from over the phone, and only under the online names and such." She responded. "Though I haven't really heard anyone familiar just yet." She added, deciding not to bore him with any specifics.
