Tori Aoi

The main protagonist of Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. He is the head of Musashi Ariadust Academy's Supreme Federation and President of the student council. His athletics and grades are average. However, because he doesn't know the meaning of depressed and has an incredibly cheerful attitude, and the only time he ever cried was when his childhood friend Horizon Ariadust died. He knows a lot of strip jokes, and often plays the fool but he's very respected nonetheless. After he is declared Viceroy of Musashi along Horizon, Tori gains access to one-fourth of the ship's energy supply, and by making a contract to the Asama Shrine he gains a special power that allows him to channel that energy supply to his allies, granting them limitless power. This ability is also used by Horizon to activate Ólos Phthonos and unlock the true power of the Mortal Sin Armaments in her possession. The condition for the ability to properly work is that he has to always be happy for rest of his life, and a single flick of sadness at his heart may provoke a backlash that can kill him. Despite his fool play, he has proven himself as a capable leader, coming with unexpected solutions to the most intricate difficulties and also being skilled in debates as seen when he confronts the opinions of Masazumi Honda and later P-01s.

Hei/ Li Shenshun

The main protagonist of Darker than Black. Codename "Hei", he is an elite contractor with the Messier Code BK-201. Hei has a double persona in the series: as a civilian, he is referred to as Li Shenshun, a good-natured Chinese exchange student living in an old apartment complex for foreigners and getting by through brief part-time jobs. These are typically related to the current mission he is on. When he is working with the Syndicate, he acts almost exactly as a typical contractor, appearing to be cold and rational. Nonetheless, Hei still demonstrates compassion and sorrow, and these mannerisms are noted as unusual by other contractors. Hei began working with the syndicate as a child assassin to protect his sister, Pai, in South America during the Heaven's Gate war. Hei's goal is to find her once again. Though he usually calls himself an exchange student, he has never once gone to any University throughout the course of the series, using his title as a student only to gain access to the gate on one occasion.

Toma Kamijo

Tōma Kamijō is the main protagonist of the Certain Magical Index series. His parents are Tōya and Shiina Kamijō. He tends to stay away from trouble but possesses a strong sense of justice. He is an average student and knowledgeable about certain subjects yet is a failure in his esper studies. While he is an idealist for the hopes of other people, ironically he is cynical about himself possibly because of his powers.
His right hand contains a power called Imagine Breaker, a power which negates all magic, esper, or divine powers but also his own good luck. Because this ability can not be detected through testing, he has been given the lowest esper rank, Level 0. Due to the nature of his power, the founder of Academy City considers him neither an esper nor a magician, but rather a normal person with a unique ability.
Throughout the series, he tries to live his life normally while still facing against the many adversaries from the worlds of science and magic and the conflicts that follow. Despite his very bad luck, he has managed to get the interests and hearts of many characters who are in love with him, which Aisa jokes about. The reason is not only to his personality, but he avoids the red thread of fate, according to Index.

Layfon Alseif

The main protagonist of the series Chrome Shelled Regios. He and Leerin were found by Derk Saiharden during their early childhood and taken to the orphanage in Glendan. Due to Derk's inability to earn enough money (because of his old age and the fact that he had retired from the battlefront), Layfon decided to earn money fighting in matches in order to provide for themselves and the other orphans. He began to participate in illegal underground matches to earn even more money for the orphanage. His high levels of strong kei and fast mastery of combat techniques earned him a place amongst the ranks of the elite Heaven's Blade wielders at the age of ten, having been given the title "Wolfstein". His Heaven's Blade was a powerful longsword made of white DITE. Eventually, Gahard Barehn challenged Layfon for his title, secretly blackmailing him to lose with the threat of exposing his participation in the underground matches. During their battle, Layfon cut off Barehn's arm, though he had actually been intending to kill him in order to keep his secret safe. As the match had been overseen by Queen Alsheyra, she ordered his immediate arrest and capture in response to his actions. His having taken part in underground matches was later exposed, and he was stripped of his title and exiled from Glendan as a result. He went to start his life anew in Zuellni, determined to put fighting and military arts behind him.

Shiroe

Best known as "Shiroe the Strategist" or "Villain in Glasses", he is a socially awkward graduate student who has been playing Elder Tale for almost eight years in the series "Log Horizon". He was the strategist of the now disbanded Debauchery Tea Party group, an elite group of players who completed high level quests known as Raids. For some reason he possesses qualms about joining guilds. His main class is "Enchanter", which bestows him powerful support spells and allows him to aid his allies to achieve ultimate victories. His secondary class is "Scribe", which allows him to accurately draw maps of the places he visited. He is the founder and guild master of Log Horizon, which was formed in order to create the Round Table council.

Kamina

In the series Gurren Lagaan, Kamina is a refractory youth from Giha village who dreams of leaving his underground home and going to the surface world, which he saw as a child. His extremely passionate and self-confident personality causes him to act as a foil for the more timid and weak-willed Simon, and serves to instill courage within Simon. His actions greatly influence the entire series, as he forms Team Dai-Gurren and acts as its leader to combat the threat of Lordgenome and the beastmen. Early in the series, Kamina hijacks a Gunmen he names Gurren, which he pilots while combined with Simon's Lagann to form Gurren Lagann.
