Perhaps there was such a term as loving someone too much, or loving someone to pieces. He had never thought of such things, but in such a situation...
Sherry's grip tightening didn't help matters at all, but in such close proximity, he could somewhat feel her heartbeat too. This wasn't... awkward at all, nope.
He nearly let out a breath of relief when she let go, or would have if he hadn't been busy catching his breath, leaning over with hands on his legs as he took in extra gulps of air.
"G-great... nice grip."

Sherry almost looked surprised. Perhaps she had been a little bit rough there. "Oops. Sorry... didn't mean to cause you any distress." She wasn't sorry about the close contact, just the fact that she'd not been paying attention to the force behind it.
"Well, now that we have that fella down," she waved in the direction of the titan remains, "what did you want to do?" She had a feeling she knew the answer, based on earlier conversations. There was a pattern here.

She knew him too well. "Well, we took this one down pretty fast, and I didn't have to resort to my artifact, so I still have a lot of energy, and..." He glanced down at the ground, and back at her, a somewhat hopeful expression on his face.

Sherry smiled. Yep. That's what she thought. Her hands reached out to hold his head still while she leaned in to kiss him on the cheek. "I've think I've got more than enough in me for another round, too."
Turning away, she set about messing with her runic gear. ""Okay. Let's just double check the gear and make sure we have everything we need."

Had Sherry not been holding his head, he would have turned it for a full-on kiss. Part of him thought she was stalling at this point, and he only laughed. Well, whatever suited her fancy. "I'm sure everything's fine. We took that first one down so fast, I don't think there's time for anything to malfunction."

Maybe she was stalling. Not because she wasn't up for another titan right then, but because she would have rather have been kissing. She was also chiding herself. Now was not the time nor the place for such things, which was why she'd opted for a gentle press of her lips to his cheek.
Armagnac almost sounded amused.
The training is what's important right now. Sherry retorted. They both knew it wasn't like Armagnac said it was. The weapon was just trying to pick at the fact that Sherry was feeling a bit frustrated on the whole make-out front. Training had been taking up a lot of time and energy. Though, Sherry had to admit she wasn't good at the flirting thing or expressing her feelings on such matters. But that was beside the point. She could hold Jake down and kiss him when this was all over with, and she planned to.
Armagnac sounded pleased with herself.
"It probably is. But I'm not letting a runic malfunction mess up my end of the job." She turned to grin at him. "But I think it all looks ok."
First thing first. Jake needed to fight titans, so they were fighting titans.

If his life (and possibly other things) wasn't on the line, he'd much rather be doing less life-threatening things, and make-outs weren't TOO far down the list.
At least the time she had taken to check her gear, he did a quick run-down with his own, and as he suspected, it was fine. He slung an arm around Sherry and laughed. "Stop being so uptight. You did fine, and you always do."
He gave her a return peck on the cheek, and then pulled his arm back, offering it to her as if asking her to a dance. "Shall we?"

Sherry would be happy to hear such thoughts, though she would have laughed at the thought of Jake wanting to do less threatening things. Her reckless Jake? Taking the boring route? Never.
"I'm not uptight," she began in protest. She didn't like to think she was, but she had to admit when it came so some things, she most certainly was. "But thanks." The compliment did less to help than the small hug and kiss.
"We shall," she smiled as she took the offered limb. It was funny how he did that. A few tiny gestures and she was happy again. Right now wasn't about her, anyway. They had things to do, because Jake needed help. "Lead the way."
