It was true what they said about nature. It tended to supply it's own antidotes. In such a hot, dry climate, Cai was not surprised to discover an abundance of rawst berries. Burns could happen even to native species designed to survive here.

Maybe, back at camp, Cai could turn these into a salve. There would be sunburns later on. He knew his own fair skin wouldn't survive a day in the desert without damage.

That was better! A nice little pile of wiki berries now resided in Cai's bag and the bunneary was still going strong. Cai was almost getting bored. If it wasn't for his natural interest in the flora and fauna around him he might have been in a worse mood. As is, he was actually enjoying himself. The others were doing their own thing and as long as Cai didn't see one out of the corner of his eye, he could breath easy and relax as if he was alone.

Chesto berries also seemed fairly common, at least, the bunneary had brought them to him a couple times now. Cai still couldn't tell if the bunneary was fairly dim, or more intelligent than he was giving it credit for. Was it purely bringing berries because it thought it was getting rewarded or did it actually understand their predicament and was legitmately helping? Too bad Cai couldn't actually communicate with it. He rather hated mysteries (like everything about this hellish trip).

Skylar plucked a berry off of a bush and brought it to Sienna. "Hm," the girl studied the berry. "I think this one is a leppa berry...Doesn't do much good for us."

Skylar pecked around the bush, looking for more berries. There! Instead of grabbing the spikey, blue berry with his talons, he grabbed it with his beak. This might taste good...Bleh! No! Big mistake, the poor little bird had bitten into a dry berry, filling his mouth with a sandy texture. He flailed about in the bush, making himself dizzy before he wobbled back to his trainer. "Oh no, Skylar! What happened? Maybe we should take a break..."

Cai had to admit to himself, while he'd never been drawn to having a pokemon of his own despite his generally positive views of them, this task would have been a lot more tedious without the small bunneary's help. Rather than crawling around getting sand and debris in his clothes and hair, he was able to sit back and examine the oasis.

Cai took a moment near a particularly heavy patch of bushes to lean against one of the tall palms and look over the lake. Hopefully the other crews weren't goofing off. It would be simpler to send a pokemon back to the city for help rather than hope the radio was working, but it'd still probably take them till evening to hear back, and who knows when the actual rescue crew might arrive, but not contacting them till morning seemed like just another odd decision made by the deranged captain.

Maybe he was out to kidnap and kill them all. Cai's dark humor was briefly interupted by the bunneary bringing him some mago berries.

As Oki went off to look for more berries, Anise continued her search as well. She soon found a Persim berry bush. Well, that would be useful if Oki ate the wrong thing and got confused again. She picked one of those to have handy, just in case.
