The rattle of a chain and a rough whine, high and uncertain.

It was enough to pull her attention away from the water and the swirling vortex of things half forgotten, but not any less horrifying. She blinked at the Death Hunter, staring up at him for a handful of seconds before she seemed to rebuild herself back into that mostly-confident anchor he was used to.

What were they supposed to be doing? That was a good question. The woman who had pointed her this way hadn't given any instructions beyond heading to the shore. But... They were hunters, this was their home. It was under threat. "Guarding. We're supposed to be guarding. If that thing get's too close, we're gunna have to stop it." Oh, was that all?

She flexed her fingers, fighting off the stiffness, and the rattle of a chain pulled her gave down to her left side and the lock. It made her lips twitch, almost a sneer, before she simply shook her head and looked back up at Taym. "If it ain't a Hunter, it ain't supposed to be here."

[Western Security]

"Stormy found him. Said he was just laying there screaming with the black on him." Bix related back. He took a step back. "No sinister creatures.. Haven't touched him."

He motioned to Stormy if she had anything to add. Sunny and Stormy. HA!

[ Security Detail - South ]


He wasn't sure what he had done to make her upset, a look of concern passing across Gale's face. "I'm...er, sorry?" he said, leaning over and trying to make sure that she was all right. He gave a confused look to Otto, trying to figure out why she was looking so thunderstruck. "I didn't mean to offend you...er..."

Gale rolled his eyes, but then he saw her stand up again, and there was a smile on her face. He gave her a nod, and said sincerely, "Eva. It's nice to meet you, Eva."

The barest pause. "That's a very pretty name, Eva. I like it."

His attention drawn back to the figure on the ground (now thankfully covered up), Gale frowned a little, tapping a finger against the rifle at his side. "I don't know; what if he's not one of us? Though we have barriers, I don't see how anyone could get in that wasn't a hunter..."

[ western side security ]

Yup, much better to let the professionals handle it. Stormy snapped to attention and stepped back, suppressing her knee-jerk reaction to salute. "As he said," Stormy replied rather lamely, quite unaware of the joke Bix caught. "I heard screams when I was heading over, and he was on the ground already with that black stuff. Nothing else out of the ordinary here."

She really couldn't block out those cries of pain and was happy to stick close to the sun hunter for now for a sort of buffer.

[Security Detail - East]

"Ah, hello Ian, Naomi." He gestured at the hinged jaws dangling by their chain, swinging his weapon a little. "Haruka."

In his head, she was yapping excitedly now, she loved making new friends. He smiled a little at her enthusiasm, and at Ian and his weapon, before his look sobered.

"Yes, it definitely just throws you right into the mix of things but... I guess that's why we're here, right? Ah, hold on a second..."

His phone buzzed in his pocket, interrupting their conversation. He fished it out, his eyes watching the skyling, then glanced at it. A text message? That was odd, or at least, was odd in a state of emergency. It seemed like it had been sent to everyone in the life division.



He quickly sent a reply, making his decision without hesitation. If someone was hurt and needed help, there was no excuse he could make. He would try his best.



Then he closed the messages, and glanced back at Ian.

"Seems like there's someone hurt on the western coast... You up for a run?"

[ Security Detail - South ]

Still buck naked, the figure suddenly stands up to their full height. For some reason, the clouds part, and the sun starts shining. The sword does nothing to conveniently cover his thig-

- "Young heroes!" the figure calls, standing up to his full height. The wind starts blowing, showing off his other swor- "I request your blessing in order to search for those who hide in the shadows! If your heart is pure, you will not deny this simple request. There is much to be done before the world unravels."

The sun shines right beside him, outlining his form. A strong ocean breeze moves his hair, and that's about it really. Oh and his-

Heidi stumbled to wherever her feet took her, stopping on the beach in time for the call of young heroes. What?

The blonde made the mistake of looking to see who was talking.

That was..not...something she should be seeing.

Heidi blushed and turned to leave.

Eyes sliding to Candace and Jerry, the doctor's expression didn't change from pleasant as he answered their questions with, "I'll be in my office." He turned away from the gathering and left through a well-hidden a exit.

The new Life assistant, blushing furiously, waved at those gathered and squeaked out, "O-okay! Those with med training run to the infirmary, we need a containment box for the remains! Those with tech skills, work on recovering anything you can from what's here! If you don't know what to do or need an explanation, leave and go take care of a security station."

Staring up at the hunters who almost all dwarfed him by a good few issues he coughed, "Uh...please?"
