Melody Nocturna "Yes, Roswell mentioned something about a mermaid and love so that comic might peak my interest." "Melody!" Kai came up from behind his cousin and clapped her on the shoulder. "There you are!" He saw some of the kids that were at the Die-ner a couple days ago and smiled at them. "Aloha, folks. Any of you signing up for Spellbound Club? There's a lot of empty slots this year. Looks like Howleen quit. Oh!" He put a claw to his lip, trying to remember something."Melody, dad asked me if you were coming by this afternoon for whatever 'Experiment Z-23' is. I told him he could just text you but he rattled off something about how reversing the polarity of the neutron flow had killed his iCoffin."

Shad blinked behind his shades and held up a forefinger to stall, fishing around in his pocket until he pulled out a crumpled up piece of paper. He gave it a once over and sighed."Shoot. I knew it went too easily. I got number the one next to your digs.." He sighed. "Ah well, I was close. That counts for something, right?"Shad then proceeded to pick up his books which spilled out of Kai's locker and went about opening his. He was about to pull it open when he paused. He took an uneasy step back and then quickly opened it, jumping back at the same time.
He leaned over at the waist to glance inside and nodded, satisfied. He then glanced at the others and shrugged."Hey, you never know."It did just happen to Kai, right?

"GRYFF!" Lin peeked out from behind the tower in his claws and his face lit up at the sight of his hero. "Hi! I got..."*WHOMP!*
Of course that would be when the wild 'jazz hands' of Atomica sent him flying where he landed in a waste basket, which was blessedly clean and free from garbage because it was so early in the day.
The moment Atomica fished him out and set him back down, Lin dusted himself off and scowled at Gryff, jetting a claw back at her."I told her she'd make the team but would she listen to me? Nooooo!"And he proceeded to start collecting Gryff's things again.."How about that Gryff ol' pal? Me an' you in chop class together! Hey! Maybe we'll be partners!"

Ronan hesitantly raised a hand. "Glen already convinced me it was a good idea. I haven't really played for years though... " He frowned, he hoped he wasn't too rusty.

"No problem! We've got monsters at all levels of play. Take me: I'm terrible at it!" Kai grinned. "I did wind up doing pretty good in the tournament last year, but that's because my opponents kept forfeiting. Really weird."
He shrugged at Ronan. "Hey, maybe we can get together after school and do a practice game at the Coffin Bean? They don't mind if we pull a few chairs together and play sometimes, as long as we keep buying drinks. You can bring your cute ghoulfriends with." Kai motioned over to Meme and Ascreama.

"Sure, that sounds great..." He glanced back at Ascreama and Meme, Kai thought they were cute? Well it was hard to tell with Meme under all that clown makeup... unless that actually was her face, he wasn't totally sure. And well, everyone knew his opinion on Ascreama, including poor Ascreama. He supposed it took all sorts, never once considering Kai might just be being nice. "Either of you know how to play Spellbound?"

"YO!"
Heads spun, and in some cases, books spilled everywhere, at the loud sound of the boisterous call. Many a student turned their heads to see Chase at the front of the school hall, with his mortalfied looking sister Whinnie at his side.
Chase lowered his cupped hands from his mouth and smiled widely as he jetted a thumb towards his little sister.
"This here's my baby sis! She's just startin' out here so treat her right!"
Chase then trotted further down the hall, with an embarrassed Whinnie at his side. He clapped Kai on the back along the way.
"Yo! Multi-dudester! Gnarly lookin' recruitment posters!"

The excited call of joy caused everyone to look up as Glen rocketed up over their heads and down the hall!
Chase looked at Kai and smirked.
"I guess that means he made the SKRM A team..."

"Well it's a relief to see he's back in one piece if nothing else.. " Ronan winced a little at the yelling. Evidently melting wasn't a permanent condition, which no doubt had the school admin breathing a sigh of relief as well.

"Yeah, you get used to Glen's weirdness, eventually." Kai grinned as he saw Glen flying through the halls for high fives. "It was a real, like, culture shock coming to Monster High for the first time for me. But now it feels comfortable. Like a pair of plaid pants you've had for a couple years. They've got a hole in the knee and there's more paint stains on them than you can count, but they're the most comfortable pair of pants in the....what was I talking about, again?"

Melody's eyes widened as he mentioned his fathers experiment, "Oh my goodness! That's right!" she gasped as the memory flashed into her head, "And he's right about it, I'm surprised that iCoffin lasted this long."
She looked at Roswell to see him staring at all the clubs, not saying a word.
"Maybe this one, of this one! OOH, Miss Kindergrubbers club looks good!"

Gryff plucked his morning beverage from Atomica's hands before she could fling it into the bushes. He deeply inhaled the spicy warmth wafting from beneath the travel lid before taking a long sip. This was a blend from Guatemourga and there was a touch of nuttiness under the cinnamoan." What? Right. Well of course Atomica got on the best team, why wouldn't she? The other string is for over-competitive monstosterone-fueled oafs who lust after meaningless trinkets like trophies." He took another long sip of his drink. 115 degrees, absolutely perfect." Come on, I still need to sign up for grimnastics. Where's my locker?" He picked Lin up by his jacket and set him back down facing the door, " We can brainstorm on the way. You probably can't make another hexpresso machine for Chop Class this year, what with this school's antediluvian opinions of what constitute acceptable creative outlets and atmospheric caffiend levels."

Hellene pursed her lips at Glen's mention of becoming Fashion Deaditor." Oh, welllllll...of course I'll mention it and if they offer me the Deaditorship I will be happy to take it because then it means I can delegate some of the projects and I'll have a little extra time on the side to work on my investigative photography too..." She mulled over the possibilities in her mind. A Deaditor's credit would be sure to allow her access to more places than just a photographer's pass, surely. She was already flying around all over town to keep coverage going for fashion week and she was getting a little sick of waiting in line with the other photographers. Deaditors got to sit in the front row!" Do you know if they have to vote on that or if the teacher just picks someone based on their current body of work because I have the best portfolio, I've been working on it all summer..." She continued chattering as she added her name to the Comic Book Club sign up sheet and the volunfear list for darkroom monitor." Draconia, you'll be my Mad Science partner again, won't you?" she asked, eyeing Glen carefully, " and then maybe the three of us can go find Kai at lunch and see if his father has any more of those flame retardant lab coats, yes?"

The spookers crackled to unlife and a flock of bats flew forward from the speakers stationed in random spots throughout the school halls;
"Attention students! I would like to welcome each and every one of you to another year here at Monster High. And to our new students, I hope you find our school as satisfying as we do. I know that you will do you very best to earn good grades, make good names for monsters everywhere, and make me proud to be your Headless Headmistress. Thank you!"
With that, the bells rung, signifying the first class period, and the official start of the school day!

Meme grinned at the compliment; she didn't usually care what people thought of her somewhat exscreame style, but it was nice to be deemed something more than just scary. She winked at Kai, "I'll be there for the coffee," she looked over to Ascreama who was busy chatting away to a witch, "I'm sure she'll be there for the 'kawaii art cards'," She said with a laugh.
Meme looked up as the speakers bats crackled to life and the bell rung. Suddenly, she remembered something important.. The SKRM sheet! She danced around students and found the printed paper...
"AAAAH!" She screeched, Ascreama immediately running to her aid.
"I made the B-TEAM!" The clown ghoul pulling a fist full of confetti out of mallet space and throwing it into the air. "Wheee! Wait, c'mon! Time for class!" She cackled in a buzz of adrenaline, dragging Ascreama by her hand down the halls.
